Technoholic Formula Changes - Year 13!
April 8th, 2011: I wrote the last bit of text required for the Book of Magic, that being several revisions to the Character Generation page. These include a bit of clean-up of the existing text, as well as the addition of both the Enhancements section and the long-awaited, incredibly simple point-based character generation system. Quite a nice way to end the last day of Technohol 13: Year 13!
April 7th, 2011: returning to the New Universe once more, I've added another description of a 'core' character to the mix. This latest addition is Charlotte Yolanda Beck, also known as Friction, basically due to her having the power to control, uh, friction! She was a bit easier to cover than a lot of the others, what with her normal appearance and just having one power. Heh.
April 6th, 2011: in the spirit of wrapping up a lot of my loose ends here on the 13, I've gone and completed the last entry I need to cover the tanar'ri. Yes, though it barely squeaked through before bed time, I finally wrapped up my work on the Molydeus, the singular form of guardian tanar'ri. And they have way, way too many powers, let me tell you.
April 5th, 2011: since I'm all out of Gi Joe things to do for the time being, I suppose I should get my act together and wrap up the New Universe stuff I wanted done by the end of this Technoholic year. I've started by completing Issue Guide 12 of the DP 7 issue summaries, which is the last one I needed to write up. The DP 7 Issue Guides are done at long last. Whee!
April 4th, 2011: for those of you that were expecting me to just tidy up the Role Playing a Sorcerer page, won't you be surprised. Save for a few flavor paragraphs, I've rewritten just about everything on this page, and added a whole lot of additional details helpful for playing a spellcasting character. Check it out - I'm real happy with this!
April 3rd, 2011: so I didn't quite manage it yesterday, but I've gone ahead and upgraded my entry for the 2002 Gi Joe Assault Quad. I did this by adding the 2004 version of this vehicle, for both Gi Joe and Cobra - since the latter swiped and refurbished it, and then the former swiped the changes the latter made to it. It's sort of convoluted, but there you have it. Added the '04 zip file, too. JAY
April 2nd, 2011: while I'd intended to wrap up the Assualt Quad - and thus the '04 Gi Joe roster-year, I didn't quite have time (again). Instead, I wrapped up something I'd been wrestling with for a little bit. This was a description of Ruslan, the 'last' member of the Oktober Guard. Even if he only got five panels and no speaking parts (nice pointless addition, there).
April 1st, 2011: I had to do this update today, since I didn't have time to work on the last Joe thing. Since there are NO MOAR SPELLS to define (yay!), it's time to fine tune the text in the other bits. To this end, I've gone through the Basic Idea and Schools of Magic pages, cleaning each up and removing a bunch of my more annoying writing tics (not to mention my many abuses of the comma).
March 31st, 2011: while I'd intended to get more done today, that just wasn't in the cards - I managed to slice my hand open at work real good, and thus can't type all that quick. However, I did wrap up General Rey's addition to the 13 here today, which means the 2004 Gi Joe roster-year is all done, save for one minor modification to an existing vehicle entry. Hrm...
March 30th, 2011: sadly, I did not complete the 2004 Gi Joe roster-year today. However, I did half of the work necessary for this! I have written the 'classic' version of General Rey for your gaming pleasure, and will wrap him up tomorrow - along with another update, hopefully. I imagine that'll be another DP 7 person, but we'll see, depending on how much time I have!
March 29th, 2011: oho, the 2004 Gi Joe roster-year is shaping up quite nicely - we're almost done with it, once and for all! With only two Joes left to complete this portion of the Handbook, I've gone and detailed one such person, she being Mayday. She's the second of three Devils Due Joes who weren't totally repugnant - even if she was completely redundant in the overall storyline.
March 28th, 2011: making a slight change in direction, I've gone and returned to the Gi Joe Handbook to wrap up a bit more of that. Today I went and added a description of Mariner, one of the Devil's Due Joes... and he wasn't horrible. Not like the hackers they overpopulated the team with, no. And that just leaves two more Joes from '04 to wrap up. Stay tuned for them soon...!
March 27th, 2011: attempting to keep my momentum going, I've gone and written up a summary of DP 7's thirty first issue, thus completing the eleventh Issue Guide for that series - out of twelve. I've only got one more actual issue to cover yet, along with a post-series summary, before I only have character descriptions to go. Though a lot of those remain...!
March 26th, 2011: still wrangling with some .css problems, but the site itself seems to be functional in the new browser. I'm told it's due to my 'crappy code' by my web designer friend, but we'll see about that. Anyway, I've produced more content today, that being a summary of issue 30 of the DP 7 comic, wherein we're introduced to the one and only Captain Manhattan!
March 25th, 2011: now that I've recovered from the problem Firefox caused (seriously, it worked fine in every other brower before), I've finally finished up the other half of Glitter's description. While I'd made her in all three game versions, I hadn't written up her history yet - but I fixed that error now. She's now complete, leaving but two of the original DP 7 to go!
March 24th, 2011: there was a slight hiccup today, for I found out that Firefox 4 was not presenting all of the site correctly. My html and css are fine, but the new browser seems to handle the /div tags a bit differently. So I had to 'wrap' all the links that were graphical in nature in another layer of such in order for them to work at all. Figuring that out was a pain, let me tell you.
March 23rd, 2011: for our last update in the Book of Magic this month (?), we'll be covering YET MOAR SPELLS. This latest batch includes Swirl (a sort of geomantic cyclonic medley of elements), Synchronicity (which allows an entreatist to manifest part of a power source within himself) and Transmutation (my 'fix' for the matter conversion powers I hate). That covers all the 'core' spells!
March 22nd, 2011: with all but a few school spells done, I've started hitting those - like they owe me money! This installment of the Book of Magic includes the Spectral Sense (seeing ghosts, astral forms, etc.), Spell Control (vs magic spells and magical powers) and Static Shield (protection from Probability Fallout) spells. That leaves but three MOAR SPELLS!
March 21st, 2011: instead of producing another addition to the Issue Guide, I have instead started work on another of the Seven Displaced Paranormals! This latest addition is the first half of my work on Glitter, arguably the last of the 'complicated' paranormals from DP 7 - at least, power wise. I think I covered all of her tricks, for all three systems, and will get her history tomorrow?
March 20th, 2011: looking back upon the New Universe Handbook, after a week or so of not touching it, I've gone and resumed my work on the DP 7 Issue Guides. The latest update to this starts Issue Guide number eleven, and I covered issue 29 this time around. This issue vaguely advanced the plot, by cutting the ladies loose from the C.I.A. at long last.
March 19th, 2011: having done a lot for the Gi Joe Handbook this week, I figured it was a good time to look in on the MSH Infinity thing once more. While I skipped this monstrosity last time around, I've gone back and covered the last true tanar'ri that needed work: the Nalfeshnee. These gigantic, half ape half boar things are dangerously smart - and completely mad!
March 18th, 2011: I'd meant to do something else today, but I was on a roll (for once) and figured I'd go ahead and wrap something up. This is, of course, that Built To Rule business from the Gi Joe Handbook. I've gone and described the last of these things (for the Joes, at least), the Headquarters Attack, which actually puts us over the halfway point on 2004 Joe remnants. JAY
March 17th, 2011: so I've gone and done the third (out of the total of four) remaining B.T.R. (Built To Rule, or Lego ™) Gi Joe vehicle for 2004, and it was at least a bit 'meatier' than the last, uh, three. This one, the Ground Striker, is a bit of a larger creature, and can be built as either a 6WD ground assault vehicle (hence the name) or a patrol boat. Nice?
March 16th, 2011: hit another B.T.R. vehicle this time around, and am quickly winnowing out all the remnants of the 2004 Gi Joe roster-year as a result! This latest addition is the Rapid Runner, a very small B.T.R. vehicle (only 13 parts) that was a sort of hover-board-thing. Or something. It's a very tiny entry, but there it is for your gaming delight. Enjoy!
March 15th, 2011: today's admittedly wee update sees us starting in on the remnants of the 2004 Gi Joe roster-year. I currently have a description of the Sledgehammer for you, a vehicle that is basically a missile launcher on wheels (or tank treads), and oddly I thought it was much larger until I went to detail it. It doesn't even have the ubiquitous B.T.R. autocannons!
March 14th, 2011: while I began Walkabout 13 yesterday, I end it today! This is done by adding Doc 2 to the Gi Joe Handbook. She's the sole 'new' 2007 character to show up in this roster-year, since everyone else was a direct homage to previous figures. In other words, this both finishes the final Walkabout and the 2007 roster-year, all in one fell swoop. Neat!
March 13th, 2011: so yesterday I wrapped up my time with the 2003 Gi Joe roster-year by producing its big ol' archive - and it's a doozy! But today, I started work on Walkabout 13 - the very last of such (imagine your surprise that number thirteen was the target, right?) I started this Walkabout by covering a B.T.R. vehicle from '04, the Rising Tide - Barrel Roll's favorite!
March 12th, 2011: it's kind of a small update today, but I've collected all of the 2003 Gi Joe stuff into a convenient zip file for your downloading convenience. This way you can grab the whole year of stuff, regardless of which MSH system you use, and plug this year of Joes right into your game - assuming you wish to, that is. But really, why wouldn't you?
March 11th, 2011: close to halfway through March already. Wow. Looks like it's time to give you three more spells for the Book of Magic! Today's additions include Power Boost (which replaced Psi-screen), Vampirism (a generic version, for mortals!) and Variable Sorcery (nee Sorcerous Duplication, an eclecticist thing). That finishes up both the Personal and Dimensional spells lists!
March 10th, 2011: we here at Technohol 13 (all one of me) are closing in on the end of the 'main' Book of Magic spell roster! Working on such, we have Sorcerous Literacy (eclecticist spell to learn other spells from written spell sources), Time Travel and Transformation / Self for you today. This burst of work leaves us with just nine more spells to cover yet!
March 9th, 2011: well lookie here. For this update to the MSH Infinity reference, I've completed a very dangerous description of the demonic denizens of the Abyss known as the balors. The most powerful of the true tanar'ri, these fiery fiends would've been the last of such I needed to cover, had I not gone out of order. Heh. So I'll cover the last 'true' tanar'ri next time. Word?
March 8th, 2011: so hey, it's the end of this Technoholic month - and the end of a big block of lingering Gi Joe business! This is because today I've covered the Raging Typhoon, arguably the biggest B.T.R. vehicle of '03, which is a hovercraft that turns into four different rides. But, this was the last thing I needed to cover from 2003 - that year's done, now! Woo!
March 7th, 2011: oho, it's time for another New Universe update! Today I have written up a summary of issue 28 of the DP 7 series for you, which also wraps up Issue Guide number ten! This is the issue where the disparate groups of scattered, Displaced Paranormals finally wind up back together again. Even if involved some of them getting beaten to within an inch of their lives...!
March 6th, 2011: wrapping up the fixes for the 'Adventurers' portion of the Vintage Age Handbook, I've added two images of Zephyr Jones to the mix. As I did with the last two folks, I used one from his recent Marvel Universe entry and another from a Golden Age appearance, despite it's rather fuzzy quality. I even updated his height, weight and hair / eye color information, to boot!
March 5th, 2011: goodness, the 2003 Gi Joe stuff is almost complete! Pushing my way towards that status, I have concocted my description of the last regular Gi Joe vehicle from this roster-year. It is the Smoke Screen Transport, which is a truck kinda like the Split Fire, but isn't heavily armed so much as it's a transport for a one man, vectored thrust flight craft!
March 4th, 2011: trying to get back on the wagon with my daily updates (my work 'ahead' is almost exhausted), I've gone and produced another addition to the DP 7 Issue Guides! Today's summary is of issue 27, where Mastodon gets shipped off on a suicide mission, Antibody get splashed with Pitt-Juice, and Glitter goes on a rampage after her husband steals her kids!
March 3rd, 2011: it's time for my last update to the Book of Magic in this Technoholic month. And of course, this includes MOAR SPELLS. We have for you another thaumaturgical trinity this time, including Sorcerous Invisibility (a specialized, enhanced form of illusion projection), Summoning (just what you think) and Turnabout (like reflection, but better). Just a dozen to go!
March 2nd, 2011: I'd meant to do this update three days ago, but I enjoyed Rampage's file card so much that I hit him up early. Ah well. But, now that that's done, I am left with two more BTR vehicles. The first of which is the Depth Ray, Wet-Suit's Lego ™ like submarine that can be rebuilt into a dune buggy mode if the need arises. No, seriously!
March 1st, 2011: I'd intended to write another New Universe issue summary today, but time was simply too short. As such, I instead present to you an updated version of Jennifer Swensen: Chrome! I've added her to the DP 7 character index, since she starred in the last year-ish of that series, and also gave her a 4C System: Edition 13 version as well. I even cleaned her descriptions up some. Yay!
February 28th, 2011: it's the last day of February. Let us go out with a bang by adding some MOAR SPELLS! This addition to the Book of Magic covers Linguistics (nee Tongues), Resurrection (nee Resuscitation) and Variable Cybernetics (which replaced Schema on the 'basic' technomancy group spell list). That finishes up the 'R' spells. And the 'L' spells... again. Er.
February 27th, 2011: so I've dipped my fingers into the soup that is the remaining 2003 Gi Joe roster year today, and once again I have another all new Gi Joe description for you! This fellow, Rampage, is the last '03 Joe that remained, and is a blatant repaint of Beach-Head's '03 figure. But at the very least, the people writing his file card had fun with that...!
February 26th, 2011: well I didn't get this one done 'till 10 P.M., but I managed it just in time nonetheless! Heading back into the New Universe Handbook, I've concocted a summary of issue 26 of that series. This is the kind of creepy issue where the five ladies of the C.I.A.'s Femme Force throw down with the Army's Famileech in Brazil... and utterly lose. In fact, one of them didn't make it back...!
February 25th, 2011: so it's time to make another addition to the MSH Infinity reference. To this end, I've concocted a description of yet another true tanar'ri, this time covering the marilith. These visually striking demonic fiends are genius tacticians and possess a plethora of magical, psionic and even deionic abilities with which to befuddle unwary heroes!
February 24th, 2011: did you know? Writing things while you're all whacked out on cherry Nyquill ™ is great! For instance, I think I had too much fun creating my description of the Split Fire. This vehicle is basically a heavily weaponized pickup truck - and it shows. Of course, this probably makes for a singularly awesome ride, and I'd at least give it a shot once. Or thrice?
February 23rd, 2011: since I didn't quite have time to finish her entry up last time, what with all the overtime I was working last week, I have gone ahead and completed my description of DP 7's Lenore Fenzl, Twilight, today. This involved me adding Marvel Saga and 4C System versions of her to the mix, as well as a slight correction to the lady's Resources in the Classic version.
February 22nd, 2011: continuing my work to enhance the Vintage Age Handbook like I did the New Universe material, I'm adding imagery to the Golden Age folks on the 13, too! This work saw me adding two images to Dave Dean today, one from his recent Marvel Universe entry and another from an old scan of his one printed appearance, back from 1940. I even updated his bio info, too!
February 21st, 2011: it's Monday! Despite working today again (ugh) after my overtime-a-palooza, I have more for you! My latest addition to the 2003 Gi Joe roster-year is Wreckage, one of the last Joes I have to actually cover, and the last member needed to ultimately fill out the Tiger Force roster once and for all. That's right, all of the repaints are finally done! YAY
February 20th, 2011: hey, it's Sunday or something. Today for you I have another New Universe update, but it's not a DP 7 issue summary. Instead, it's the first half (or two thirds) of my description of Twilight, the senior citizen paranormal from the DP 7 series with the area effect vampirism power. I've got the Classic version done, will finish the rest as time permits.
February 19th, 2011: we here at Technohol 13 (all one of me) are working hard to get the Book of Magic's main spell list done for you. Main list, you ask? Oho, spoilers! But we digress. Today, we have descriptions of Purge (regarding philosophical energies), Reanimation (zombies!) and Spiritual Link (a sort of mind-meld with a long-dead sorcerer) for you. This gets us all the way through the 'P' spells!
February 18th, 2011: aha, another Gi Joe update! In our mad dash to finish off the 2003 roster-year for your gaming delights, (the royal) we have concocted a description of the Forest Fox for you. This is another one of those B.T.R. (or Lego ™) Joe vehicles that can be built as two different rides. It's either a Jeep ™ or a 'Transport', whatever that is. Enjoy!
February 17th, 2011: hey, it's that time of the week again, where I give you another New Universe update! This latest addition is another issue summary for the DP 7 Issue Guide, covering the twenty fifth book in the series. This one mostly centers on various facets of Randy O'Brien's life, and showcases his new 'trick' of wearing an antibody in order to gain its special powers!
February 16th, 2011: you know what time it is? It's time for MOAR SPELLS! Breaking into the list of remaining spells, I've produced descriptions of Portal (sorta like the UPB gateway power, but not), Shape Change (which I finally managed to sculpt to my liking) and Variable Psionics (nee Psionics Duplication, molded like the variable power power... but with psionics).
February 15th, 2011: having reached the zenith of our work on the remaining 2003 roster-year three days ago, we begin to enjoy the quick slide down hill to finish the job! To this end, I've got another Gi Joe vehicle for you today, this being the Road Rebel. It was essentially a small, treaded vehicle ('bout the size of a VW Beetle) with a mammoth missile launcher on the top.
February 14th, 2011: hey, it's Valentine's Day! Of course, I don't actually have a sickeningly sweet update for you today, instead the summary of a tale of betrayal, madness and suicide! That's right, I've summarized issue 24 of the DP 7 series on this happy holiday, which shows the lives of both David Landers (Mastodon) and Stephanie Harrington (Glitter) taking a turn for the worse...
February 13th, 2011: ah, the tanar'ri. Never will you find more chaotic and evil beings anywhere! This latest addition to the MSH Infinity reference adds yet another of these to the mix. The Alkilith is a formless, shapeless blob of protoplasm, but is incredibly intelligent, wields a staggering array of supernatural powers, and is completely alien in its corrosive desires!
February 12th, 2011: I was supposed to do this update yesterday, but time got away from me. I blame the whole 'full time emloyment and loving relationship' things. I oddly have a life of late, can you blame me? But, even though it caused me to switch around my updates a tad, I've nonetheless finally gotten my summary of DP 7 issue 23 up, which sort of revolves around Stephanie Harrington: Glitter!
February 11th, 2011: hey, it's Gi Joe day here at the 13 again! So, being that it's Gi Joe day, I have another Gi Joe member for you! He is Wide Scope, another Joe S.W.A.T. expert and dog handler, which means he came with all kinds of fun goodies. Of course he was packaged with an awesome B.A.T., so naturally a whole lot of people picked up Wide Scope figures...!
February 10th, 2011: so with the roster pages for it done, it's time I kick my Vintage Age work up a notch. To this end I have begun to add imagery to the characters here, starting with Zara of the Jungle. I did a scan of her recent 'Marvel Universe' bio as well as a Golden Age comic page, even if its quality was rather poor (it's from microfiche). I even updated her data some!
February 9th, 2011: uh oh, only two more technoholic months to go in this thirteenth year of technoholic goodness! Luckily I seem to be on schedule still - if only barely - to finish all my goodies! In keeping with said schedule, I've got a new Gi Joe vehicle description for you: the Rock Crusher! This is a B.T.R. (Lego ™) thing that can be built as an assault quad or a land luge!
February 8th 2011: we finish out this Technoholic month by adding a character to the DP 7 roster that actually already exists on the site. He is Michael Crawley, who was originally from the Psi-Force series, but eventually moved over to this book. I upgraded his entry to match the DP 7 ones, in that he now has a 4C System: Edition 13 version, and has been fixed up a bit, too.
February 7th, 2011: it would appear that this Technoholic month's contributions to the Book of Magic have come to a close. Said closing includes descriptions of Philosophical Aura, Planar Control (which absolutely blew my mind while writing it) and Sending (semi-sentient, one-way telepathic devices). Looks like we're down to but two dozen spell descriptions to go.
February 6th, 2011: hey, what do you know, I've got more for you regarding Gi Joe! Continuing my work of the ages, I'm pounding the 2003 Gi Joe roster-year rather hard at the moment, and have another vehicle description for you. This was another remote controlled Gi Joe ride, the M.U.V. - which apparently stands for Military Utility Vehicle. But it's an R.C. Jeep ™ ish thing!
February 5th, 2011: having finally recovered (mostly) from the surprise hard drive fail of 2011 (since I back up everything religiously), I've completed a work I started up two days ago. This is of course my description of Jeffrey Walters - the Blur! I had to work up the man's history of course, since I didn't have time to last time 'round, meaning I just need images of him yet!
February 4th, 2011: It's time for MOAR SPELLS! This latest addition to the Book of Magic sees me adding Locational Sense (nee Planar Sense, just like the psi power), Personal Weaponry (claws, razor skin, etc...) and Precognition (the ultimate headache). I know I said I was done with the 'L' spells before, but this was a running change. LIVING DOCUMENT!
February 3rd, 2011: okay. Okay okay okay. Okay. So I meant to do this yesterday, but the failed hard drive threw me off. Okay. So today, instead of yesterday, I have the first half of a new character description for you in the New Universe Handbook. While his history is still outstanding, I have statistics of the one and only Blur for you - in Classic, Saga and 4C versions!
February 2nd, 2011: reinstalling Vista on my new hard drive slowed me down a bit, but I did barely get this update done by the end of the day - even if it was intended for tomorrow. This update is, of course, another 2003 Gi Joe entry. I give you Sgt. Hacker, yet another annoying 'cool computer hacker' type from this era of the Joes - who at least had an action figure this time.
February 1st, 2011: hey, it's February! To start off this new month, I've gone and created a description of yet another 'true' tanar'ri for the MSH Infinity reference! This incredibly powerful kind of fiend, the glabrezu, is a towering monstrosity with a laundry list of magical, psionic, and even deific abilities - easily enough to confound most adventurers.
January 31st, 2011: hey, it's time for more Gi Joe awesomeness! On this auspicious date, I've covered the second of six B.T.R. vehicles that came out in 2003, this one being the Armadillo Assault. It's a rather large building block set that you can assemble either as an 8WD armored transport or as a dune buggy - both of which have a small, one man scout aircraft!
January 30th, 2011: yay! Now that I've trudged my way through my least favorite New Universe story line (even more than Kickers, Inc. even), I can motivate myself to do more work in the DP 7 reference. As such, I've written up a summary of issue 19, which leaves us but eleven summaries to go before we have only character descriptions left for DP 7.
January 29th, 2011: I took a day to renovate both of the rosters in the Miscellaneous Characters portion of the 13, since the Vintage Age rosters were all done up. I've cleaned these and slightly organized them based on content; not that there were so many that needed organizing, but hey. All but the Gi Joe and old v13 rosters are now in the new format. Woo!
Janaury 28th, 2011: continuing my exploration of the remnants of the 2003 Gi Joe roster-year, I find I have to actually produce a description of the Mark 3 Cobra F.A.N.G. This is because '03's Missile Storm Copter (and '04's Tiger Storm Copter) are based on the mold for this vehicle. So hey, there's a Cobra ride to go along with your Gi Joe fix for the day? Neat, huh?
January 27th, 2011: so it's time for another New Universe update, innit? That's right, now that I've finished that horrible 'public service announcement' arc in DP 7, I can move on to bigger and better things. Of course, issue 18 just sort of acted as an 'end cap' to that story, so it had a bit more suck - but then it went on to the goods!
January 26th, 2011: it's time for MOAR SPELLS. The latest additions to the Book of Magic are ready for you, and this trinity of thaumaturgy includes Mind Walk, Psychometry and Topological Control. Not only does this complete all of the universal energy spells, but it completes all the spells from A through O - and leaves but thirty more to complete.
January 25th, 2011: having covered the BTR Locust a scant three days ago, I've gone and written up its operator today! Yes, for your gaming pleasure I have concocted a character sheet of Hollow Point, the only Gi Joe member who only had an action figure as a result of the BTR line - everyone else had refuribshed figures to go with their Lego-riffic rides.
January 24th, 2011: welcome back! Starting this week off on a good note, after a fashion, I finally finished up something that was mentally holding me back today. That was, of course, a summary of the last issue of my least-favorite New Universe story arc. This means that yes, I've begun Issue Guide #7 by completing my summary of issue 17 - finally, the suck (to me, anyway) is done!
January 23rd, 2011: why hello there! I'll bet you're jonesing for your Book of Magic 'fix', aren't you? Well it's a good thing I've got one for you! The latest batch of spells includes Luck (good or bad, depending), Mystic Servant (builds transient, non-sentient minions), and Transduction (energy conversion). That leaves us just thirty three spells to go.
January 22nd, 2011: as a counter-point to yesterday, I completed today's update right at the beginning of the day. This update is coverage of my first '03 BTR (built to rule) vehicle for the Gi Joe Handbook. The BTR stuff is essentially Gi Joe Legos, which is kind of fun in its own right. This first BTR ride is the Locust, which took its name from two previous Joe 'copters. Enjoy!
January 21st, 2011: so I barely managed to finish this update before the day was through, but I've done it. 'It' is, of course, my latest update to the New Universe Handbook! Instead of producing another DP 7 issue guide, I have instead written a new book (or so it felt like). This 'book' is a comprehensive description of David Landers: Mastodon! Check him out, y'all.
Janaury 20th, 2011: aha, it's time I make another addition to the MSH Infinity reference! Having begun my look at the 'true' tanar'ri last time, I'm starting with something a bit tougher than the vrock - and the vrocks are no pushover, neither! Today's addition to the roster of demonic fiends is the hezrou, a tall, toad-like thing that manages the tanar'ri Blood War armies.
January 19th, 2011: so Walkabout 12 is all done. You know what that means, don't you? That's right, it's time for me to start working on ironing out the second to last year of outstanding 'regular' Gi Joe business. I'll be doing that by fixing up one of the single most complicated vehicles from '03, and that is the Patriot Grizzly, a really big tank (which had two more versions in '04)!
January 18th, 2011: ah, it's time for more New Universe goodness. With this latest addition to the New Universe Issue Guides, I have concocted a summary of DP 7 number 16, which ends guide number six (out of twelve). This completes the first half of the regular issues from the DP 7 series (in addition to the three I did a bit 'ahead'), leaving only five more guides to go. YAY
January 17th, 2011: today our work further upgrading the Vintage Age Handbook (above and beyond the original .css fixes from way back) comes to a close, as I wrap up my renovations of the Fugitives and Solo Villains rosters. That means we're all ready to start the next phase of Vintage Age work, but we've got one detour to make first, before we can dig in there...
January 16th, 2011: as I did but three days ago, I add another fighter jet to the Gi Joe Handbook, whilst working on Walkabout 12. This one, from 2004, is the Thunderwing Jet (cough F-22 cough). This, incidentally, also wraps up Walkabout 12, since you know, there's not a whole lot of Gi Joe team stuff that needs covering yet. Oh, I also added radars to the Tigerhawk micro-jets too (whoops).
January 15th, 2011: welcome back for another day of technoholic updates! This one in particular is another addition to the New Universe Issue Guides! Today I've covered issue 15 of the DP 7 series, where Lenore's life take a turn for the worse, and Randy's takes a slight turn for the better. It's still in the New U story arc I hate the most, but what can you do, right?
January 14th, 2011: MOAR SPELLS. I know you're just loving all this in-depth work on the Book of Magic. Why else would you be here today? At any rate, I've got these three spells for you: Macro Sense (nee Knowledge, a sort of cosmic awareness thing), Move (A physiomancer school spell) and Sleep (just what you think). That just leaves thirty six (36) spell descriptions to go!
January 13th, 2011: so the 2001 Gi Joe business is all done at last. Er, again. So that means it's time to start up Walkabout 12! That's right, the twelfth of my Walkabouts begins by looking at one of the two unfinished Joe roster-years, that being 2003. This work has me completing a description of the Sky Sweeper Jet, a 'flying wing' airplane like a stealth bomber... only tiny.
January 12th, 2011: trying to get back in the 'proper' place of things, I've concocted another issue summary for the DP 7 Issue Guide. This summary was of issue fourteen, which started one of my least favorite arcs in the book. Social commentary, when it's good, is a great thing to behold. But when it's bad, oh, it's so very, very bad. And that's how I felt about this one. But I persist!
January 11th, 2011: The Book of Magic, you love it. You do love it, right? Well whether or not you do, I have prepared descriptions of three (3) moar spells for you. They include Psychic Probe (self explanatory), Vapors (the ultimate mystic obscurement), and finally Warding (weaving defensive mystic measures around something). That finishes the 'w' spells!
January 10th, 2011: with Walkabout 11 all done up, it's time I get started on the remaining outstanding business from 2001. This means that today I added a description of Firewall, another despicable Devil's Due 'cool computer hacker' character, to the '01 roster. Of course, that also finishes up the remaining bits of 2001. You like how peppy all this is yet?
January 9th, 2011: alas, I have no DP 7 issue summaries for you on this first day of the Technoholic month. However, I have an actual DP 7 character description for you instead. Joy? This first fellow from the DP 7 series is Antibody, who can create negative-image energy doubles of himself. I wrote a book on him it seems, go check him out!
January 8th, 2011: for this last day in our Technoholic month (only three more to go after this!), I've concocted another addition to the MSH Infinity project. My first rendition of the 'true' tanar'ri, I've created a description of the vrock, a seemingly eight foot tall vulture with humanoid arms nestled beneath its wings, which possesses frightening magical powers!
January 7th, 2011: with this fun addition to the Gi Joe Handbook, I hereby declare that Walkabout 11 is now at an end. It ends with the coverage of the last 'original' member of the Oktober Guard (and last figure I need to look at from '05): Horror Show! He got an actual action figure in 2005, and it was actually quite faithful to the overall 'look' of the man!
January 6th, 2011: since I'd covered the comic that coincided with it, DP 7 #22, I figured I may as well do a summary of the Draft prestige-format one-shot book as well, which I have completed today. I haven't written up all of its characters yet, nor have I made it pretty (aside from scans I made of the prestige format books previously), but it's now summarized. Enjoy!
January 5th, 2011: yet another day working on updates to the Vintage Age Handbook's index pages, and we're almost done with that business once and for all. This latest update sees us taking a gander at the rosters of the Battle-Axis and the Super-Axis, moving them to the new roster format. And... I see I need some work on the sheets for the former... bleah.
January 4th, 2011: though it wasn't until the end of the day that I got this done (having squandered my lead time on Gi Joe stuff by working ahead on rules stuff), I did indeed manage to get my update for the day out on time. This was of course the Tigerhawk, a sort of 'crotch rocket' airplane that is basically a jet engine one straddles, like Cobra's own Firebat!
January 3rd, 2011: it would appear that, once again, it's time to peer in on the lives of seven or so displaced paranormals! This means another addition to the DP 7 Issue Guides, currently working on issue 22. This issue coincides with the Draft (which I'll be summarizing next time 'round), and sees me filling out the last bit of Issue Guide #8. Not bad, eh?
January 2nd, 2011: ooh, the first Book of Magic update of 2011! I'm poking around in the odd parts of the remaining spell list today, and have for you descriptions of Proxy (casting spells through a patsy), Sympathetic Magic (using bits of people against them sorcerously (is sorcerously a word?)), and Vodun (the 'core' spell of the Voodoo school of magic).
January 1st, 2011: wow, it's a new year already! Hoping to keep up my momentum through another 365 days, I've continued on with my work on the Gi Joe Handbook, adding to Walkabout 11! A step up from the last addition to such, I've gone ahead and created a description of the Hoverstrike, a sort of small, wedge-shaped hovercraft the Joes used... which really worked!
December 31st, 2010: it's time to wrap up 2010, which I'll be doing with another update to the New Universe Handbook! Looking in on DP 7 once more, I've summarized issue 21 of this series, wherein most of the Displaced Paranormals find themselves in government custody of one kind or another, while the Clinic is attacked by local police - causing a lot of them to get dead.
December 30th, 2010: gasp! It's the last update to the Book of Magic we'll be seeing this year! Heh. At any rate, I have three more spells for you from the Book of Magic, where you get to see me bouncing around the remaining alphabet for a while for no good reason. I've got some classics for you: Postcognition, Telekinesis and Teleportation. Aren't they pretty?
December 29th, 2010: well, I guess this is my last Gi Joe addition to the 13 in 2010. Wistful! Of course, as it turns out, I'm ending the calendar year on a low note for the Gi Joe Handbook, as this addition ( which launches Walkabout 11), sees me covering Daemon, possibly the most useless of the Devil's Due 'additions' to the Gi Joe mythos - save for perhaps Mariner.
December 28th, 2010: I've wandered slightly out of order in the DP 7 deal today - sorry about that! But, I did cover issue 20, which showcased the group of displaced paranormals' actions after rescuing David and Jeffrey from the core of the Pitt, culminating with the wounded David's vicious throw-down with the monstrous Pit Bull - one of the new 'Black Event' paranormals!
December 27th, 2010: for my last 2010 update to the MSH Infinity project, I have something tanar'ri related (but not a tanar'ri). It is a description of Razorvine, that hazardous weed that chokes out the real estate of Sigil, portions of the Outlands, and vast swathes of the lower planes. It's a nuisance and a hazard, but it's even more insidious than you think!
December 26th, 2010: with Walkabout 10 done, I figure I should start my work on 1998 - and finish it (again), I suppose. This involves me covering the last member of the Oktober Guard to receive a figure during this year, which was Daina - she who was inexplicably renamed to Volga in '98, but from reading the file card you can clearly see who she was 'supposed' to be.
December 25th, 2010: zomg, it's XXX-mas already! And as such, I have yet another update to the site for you today! This one involves yet another addition to the New Universe Issue Guides, covering issue 13 of the DP 7 series. I'm close to halfway done with the guides for this series, which means it'll be time for me to start covering people soon enough. Watch out!
December 24th, 2010: woo, it's almost XXX-mas again! For your one-day-early present I have another refinement to the indexes of my Vintage Age Handbook! What I have done is modified the roster pages for both Liberty Legion and the Twelve, getting them in line with my 'new' way of doing such, and adding those changes to the Master Roster where necessary. Woo!
December 23rd, 2010: alas, poor Walkabout 10, yadda yadda. We finish this tenth trip through the remaining Gi Joe roster-years by coincidentally finishing up the year 2006 (again). This involved me creating a description of the Oktober Guard's Spetsnaz operative, Sgt. Misha, who's a sort of well-read philosopher, but doesn't let that get in the way of doing his job.
December 22nd, 2010: hey, it's my birthday! Having just turned 37 (since I'm old... so very old), I worked ahead a tad so I could mostly have the day off for tomfoolery. Save for, you know, having to actually work 9 hours. But I have an update for you since I did work ahead, this being a summary of DP 7's issue 12, the one where David and Randy face off against the super-powerful Philip Nolan Voigt!
December 21st, 2010: oh no - the Book of Magic project has stolen the v13 project's update slot! That cad! Yeah, I put the v13 stuff on hold for a short bit in order to push harder on the magic - hope nobody's mad! This bonus addition to the Book has me placing descriptions of the Mind Control, Power Block and Telepathy spells - out of order a bit, but hey.
December 20th, 2010: moving along to the year 2005 in the Gi Joe Handbook's tenth Walkabout, we take another look at the Oktober Guard. This update to the Guard involves covering Stormavik, the fourth member of the original team, a stalwart Airborne soldier who excels at most everything he does, because he gives every task, no matter how simple, all of his effort!
December 19th, 2010: so yeah, New Universe time! I've gone and added a detailed summary of events occurring in DP 7 issue 11 to the Issue Guide for that portion of the New Universe Handbook, which showcased David's meeting with the mysterious ESPeople, as well as his gaining survival and fighting training from the mysterious Woodsman - at least, before the Clinic's goons caught him!
December 18th, 2010: oho, time for more spells from the Book of Magic! This time around, I have descriptions of a few doozies, including Investment (giving others super human abilities or powers), Link (slightly expanded version of the old spell) and Variable Power (which used to be Power Duplication until I tweaked it ever so slightly as a new power).
December 17th, 2010: resuming our work on the tenth Gi Joe Walkabout, it's time we took another look at the remaining business occupying our 2004 awareness. This means covering another item, since all the Joes from that year are done if memory serves. So, here's a description of the Quickstrike, a sort of 6WD armored missile launcher thingie. That's about it, really.
December 16th, 2010: alas, poor DP 7 Issue Guide 4, we hardly knew you! That's right, with this update to the New Universe Handbook, I've completed another one of these things (out of twelve total, I think). This one covers issue ten, which sees poor David Landers fleeing from a large number of Clinic headhunters - only to wander into the lair of the Woodsman!
December 15th, 2010: turning my eye back upon the MSH Infinity project, I have completed the last of the greater tanar'ri. This last 'greater' creature is the wastrilith, a sort of undersea stalker and terrorist who only wants to be alone. Anything that intrudes upon its vast territory is quickly consumed, or subverted for its own cause. But usually the former.
December 14th, 2010: shall we resume our work on Walkabout 10? Admittedly, this latest update is sort of a 'stinker', since it's just a few paragraphs of an entry. But that's because this portion of Walkabout 10 has seen me covering the Gun Station, an item that was sort of a 'micro play set' more than an actual vehicle. But I've got it done, in 3 different versions for your gaming use!
December 13th, 2010: today we reach the middle point of DP 7's fourth Issue Guide, this time by covering issue 9. This entire story is a sort of set-up, a fiction inside Randy's head programmed in by the Clinic's pararnomal enforcers, Mr. Charne and Mr. Hackbarth, in order to brainwash Randy into not fleeing the Clinic again. But they find it's rather difficult for them to control his mind...
December 12th, 2010: still working at enhancing the various rosters that anchor the Vintage Age Handbook, I have upgraded a couple more of the index pages for that portion of the 13. The latest batch of work has seen me renovate the Adventurers, Crusaders and Kid Commandos rosters, and I even copied those upgrades to the Master Roster as well.
December 11th, 2010: taking yet another gander at the '01 Devil's Due Gi Joe comic book 'exclusives', I added a short description of that ridiculous 'Cube Cam' thing to the mix for the latest addition to Walkabout 10 (or X, as the kids say). And as a super duper bonus for you Joe fans, I've added 4C System: Edition 13 versions of Recondo, including his all-new, 2010 figure!
December 10th, 2010: I think this is somebody's birthday, but who knows - I'm horrible about dates that way. In any event, if I'm right about this, I've got a birthday present for... whoever! This is naturally another addition to the DP 7 Issue Guide. This time 'round we start on Issue Guide 4 by summarizing issue 8 of the book, which sees everyone but Dave back in the Clinic's clutches...
December 9th, 2010: looks like it's time for me to get back into the Variant Earth 13 business again. Having covered the generic pixies as well as four (count 'em) examples of such, I figured I'd go ahead and build some crude images of the various pixies, wielding the City of Heroes character generator. Some of them don't precisely match what's in my head, but they're close. Enjoy!
December 8th, 2010: the '82 Joe stuff is done (yet again), so it looks like it's time for us to start another Walkabout! Walkabout 10 begins by looking at another 'surprise' leftover from 1998, him being Lt. Gorky. He got a figure this year, which was an oddly repainted Big Bear that looked nothing like Lt. Gorky save for the gray uniform, though his second figure was spot on.
December 7th, 2010: as I did three days ago, I figured I would hit another of the DP 7 Issue Guides today. This one covered issue seven, the story of how the Seven Displaced Paranormals quickly got themselves rounded up by the Clinic's headhunters upon splitting up. Scuzz, Charlotte and Stephanie got themselves nabbed in this issue, setting the stage for more captures in the next!
December 6th, 2010: it's time I update the Book of Magic again, isn't it? I started working on the 'm' spells in earnest, even though I have a few stragglers before that yet. The latest additions include the Mesmerism (low grade mind control), Mesmermechanism (low grade machine control) and Mimicry (lets ecelcticists pose as a mage of another school) spells.
December 5th, 2010: what with that there Walkabout being done, I guess I should work out the remaining 'kink' in the 1982 roster. And that kink is Agent Delta, another 'retcon' addition to the original Joe roster, an deep cover agent sent to infiltrate Cobra in its early days, but got 'lost' in the process. But with him done, I'm yet again done with the '82 stuff. JAY
December 4th, 2010: hey, it's time for me to give unto thee another update in the New Universe Handbook! This particular update is of course yet another upgrade to the DP 7 Issue Summary, covering issue six this time 'round. This book is where Scuzz gets beat down by a bunch of biker thugs, but ultimately gets payback by blowing them and their bikes to bits!
December 3rd, 2010: it's high time we added another tanar'ri to the MSH Infinity project! The latest addition to that slowly growing reference is the Goristro, a sort of hulking behemoth of a demon that's part man, part bison and all irrational hunger! These twenty four foot tall monstrosities are used as living siege engines in the horrific Blood War!
December 2nd, 2010: so wow, Walkabout 9's all done up already. To end this latest Walkabout through the quickly dwindling lists of undone Gi Joe stuff I maintain, I've added a fellow from the 2006 releases. Another Oktober Guard member, this fellow is Dragonsky, the team's resident combat driver, mechanic, and flamethrower operator. He's even a World War II veteran (after a fashion)!
December 1st, 2010: uh oh, we're almost out of months here in 2010! This first day of December we have another update to the New Universe Handbook for your persual, so check it out. We've once again added to the DP 7 issue guide, doing so by adding a summary of issue five for your reading pleasure. Not that a whole lot happened in this issue... but then a lot of DP 7 is like that...
November 30th, 2010: doing even more work to 'enhance' the roster pages of my Vintage Age Handbook, I have worked over the index pages for both the Invaders and the All-Winners Squad sections, and of course adding these to the Master Roster (at least, the ones I haven't already plugged into it from the last two updates of this type). More to follow soon!
November 29th, 2010: hey there! Returning to the Gi Joe Handbook in our regular rotation, I've got another addition to Walkabout 9 for youse! This is a description of one of 2005's remaining folk, one of the Oktober guard. This fellow is Shrage, one of the original six members of that group, and their all around 'general' elite infantryman. Enjoy!
November 28th, 2010: we're starting to run out of November with which to bless you with Technoholic updates. Oh noes! This latest addition sees me finishing Issue Guide #2 by wrapping up a summary of the Untold Tale of the New Universe. This is the last 'out of sequence' book to cover, leaving naught but regular issue descriptions from here on out. Yay!
November 27th, 2010: picking up on the Variant Earth 13 revitalization, I've gone and written a description of my fourth and final 'example' pixie for the time being. He is Satan's Little Elf, a sort of pixie thug and hooligan who can grow to about three feet in size, and poses as one of Santa's little elves in order to fleece anyone who buys into Christmas hype!
November 26th, 2010: hey, it's time for even more Walkabout (9) goodness! We've moved up to 2004 in the rotation, and have added a description of the Piranha Attack Boat - Shipwreck's swank ride - as a result. Having a bit more time today, I also added a bonus update to the Snow Cat, transforming my entry for it into its new incarnation as the 2010 Wolf Hound vehicle (w / 4C System version)!
November 25th, 2010: hey, it's Thanksgiving - what the heck are you doing here? Well, assuming you're done watching the Pikachu blimp in the parade and tolerating relatives for turkey, I guess it's okay. Anyway, I haves more DP 7 issue summary goodness for you to read while fighting off the torpor. This latest addition covers issue 4 - and the so-called Wompus. Seriously.
November 24th, 2010: avail thee whilst I open the Book of Magic and continue reading from where my bookmark last lay. Or something. The latest addition to my work of the ages includes three tricksy spells, including Illusion Projection (the mental kind), Imaginary Doubles (a virtual army of one), and Mental Trap (nee Mystic Trap nee Trap, a sort of psi ambush).
November 23rd, 2010: moving up to the year 2003, I've added an item from that Gi Joe roster-year for Walkabout 9, that being the Battle Blitz, a tall 6WD vehicle that stores a sort of wheeled sled inside - that you can use to fire a Joe off into the distance at truly reckless speeds! As a bonus, I also added a 2010 version of White Out - complete with a 4C System version of him!
November 22nd, 2010: hey, it's that time in the Technoholic rotation again! You know, where we take another look at the New Universe! This latest glimpse into such sees us summarizing issue three of the DP 7 series, which is sort of 'round two' and 'round three' with those Clinic headhunters that jumped them in the woods in the last issue. Spoiler alert: our heroes escaped again!
November 21st, 2010: it appears that it's time I gaze upon the depraved masses of tanar'ri once again. Today's addition to the MSH Infinity project sees me covering the babau, the third of five 'greater' tanar'ri. They'e the recruiters for the Abyss' various armies, conscripting any least or lesser tanar'ri not already spoken for by others into the Blood War efforts.
November 20th, 2010: finishing up the first half of Walkabout 9, we take another look at 2002. The only person I didn't cover from this year was a mail-in 'generic' reservist figure, who you named yourself. I sorta rolled him into the 'Greenshirts' from the comic, which made him somewhat worthwhile? Of course, this is the only '02 thing 'needed', so I guess that year's now done. Again.
November 19th, 2010: looks like it's time for me to make another addition to the New Universe Handbook! Having covered issue one yesterday, I totally hit issue two this time around, the story which covers the team's second fight with Clinic paranormals - this time a trio of headhunters! This summary wraps up the first Issue Guide altogether - stay tuned for more, coming soon!
November 18th, 2010: continuing my work to 'enhance' the roster pages of the Vintage Age Handbook, I have done an extensive revamp of the Solo Heroes roster. This large collection of oddballs covers those heroes who didn't bother joining some team or other - either in the Golden Age or retroactively, after the fact (like the Invaders or the Twelve did).
November 17th, 2010: moving along to the year 2001 in Walkabout 9, we touch on the first of a series of personnel and items who received no toy, much less coverage in any cartoon - they're Devil's Due comics exclusives, starting with the notorious Joe-Com! I also doubled up today, adding a 2010 version of Snow Job (and opening that year up proper), even giving him a 4C System version!
November 16th, 2010: having covered their origins with our last New Universe update but three days ago, it's time to showcase the first issue of DP 7! I've gone and written up a detailed summary of the series' premiere issue, which describes how our Seven Paranormals become Displaced in the first place, thanks to the depredations of the sinister Clinic for Paranormal Research!
November 15th, 2010: resuming work on the Variant Earth 13 rebirth, I have produced another all new pixie as an 'example' character for your use. Today's addition to the site is Twinkle This, one of the first pixies (and one of the few of such still remaining), who works as a familiar to powerful mages in order to gain help in the extermination of all the Fey!
November 14th, 2010: we've reached the second leg of the ninth Gi Joe Walkabout, which brings us back to 1998. I've finished all the Joes who got a figure this year, but I haven't worked on everybody yet. For instance, there was a three-pack of Oktober Guard operatives released this year, including the team's original leader - the one and only Colonel Brekhov - check it!
November 13th, 2010: so yeah. Now that I'm all ready, I've gone ahead and begun the lengthy process of documenting the events of the DP 7 series in my DP 7 Issue Guide! I started this work by covering the DP 7 annual, which was out of sequence with the rest of the title, actually starting from the White Event and, via the Witness, shows the origins of the seven Displaced Paranormals.
November 12th, 2010: as is usually the case for this time around in the cycle of my 'bonus' updates, I have for you another trio of spells for the Book of Magic. The latest additions include Attenuation (a replacement for the Expand spell), as well as Flux (with which paraprobabilitists can readily ruin an area) and Inspiration (a nifty faerie mental trick).
November 11th, 2010: turning the page, it's time to start Walkabout 9! I was going to hit the '03 and '04 Gi Joe stuff before doing 'clean up' in the Joe roster, but decided to intermingle the two tasks. Thus, this walkabout starts again in 1982, where we see the debut of Shooter, a Joe who was hinted at in issue 1 of the series, but was finally revealed in the Declassified limited series!
November 10th, 2010: okay, so momentary change of plans. In my quest to collect everything I needed to cover the DP 7 folks, I finally managed to acquire another copy of Quasar #31 - though it took some doing from the local comic book stores. So, before resuming DP 7 work proper, I did two scans from this book, in order to add imagery for Jim Hanrahan. Tight, right?
November 9th, 2010: ah, November - how quickly the time flies. For instance, we're already working on the 'greater' tanar'ri, the much more powerful demons of the Abyss. Having already hit the nabassu last time out, we're taking a look at the horrific chasme today, those half-man, half-mosquito monstrosities that hunt down their brethren who desert the Blood War.
November 8th, 2010: on this last day of the Technoholic month, I started adding figures and vehicles to the 2009 Gi Joe roster-year. Having added Freefall (as Altitude), Lift-Ticket, Outback, Wild Bill, the Ghost H.A.W.K., and the Tiger Rat, I've completed everything from 2009, save for convention and movie stuff. Noticing a trend here, yet? Moo hoo haa haa.
November 7th, 2010: turning my sleepy gaze back to the New Universe Handbook, I have completed my work on the Cover Gallery for the D.P. 7 series. Picking up where I left off back on the first of the month, I've added covers for issues twenty two through thirty two, which is everything at this point (with the annual and Untold Tale already being done). Now onto the content!
November 6th, 2010: on this date two years ago, I started pushing myself to make an update a day on the 13 - and so far I've been doing great in that regard! With the RiD stuff being done, I'm starting some work on the Vintage Age Handbook, and today's update upgrades the updated Golden Age Characters roster to the new, multi-system format I'm rolling out.
November 5th, 2010: what with Walkabout 8 being finished, it's time we begin working on the remnants of the 1994 Gi Joe roster-year. To that end, I have just added the Razor-blade to the '94 index, it being a small rescue helicopter. With of course a missile launcher. Oddly enough though, this also wraps up the 1994 Gi Joe roster-year. Only had one item left, y'know!
November 4th, 2010: having done the first half of this work six days ago, I decided to finish up the 'skeleton' for the D.P. 7 Issue Guide. The last six are now up in the New Universe Handbook, if not yet written. The goal on the 7th is to go ahead and complete the Cover Gallery as well, leaving everything from the 10th on for naught but content!
November 3rd, 2010: sidling on over back to the all-new Variant Earth 13 Handbook, I've added another example of the diminutive yet highly homicidal pixie for your gaming pleasure. The latest installment in the pixie section is Horace the Half-pint Horror-show, a fighter and a wizard and a hunter of strange (and much larger than himself) mythical beasts!
November 2nd, 2010: it would appear that Walkabout 8 has come to a close. To mark this occasion I have added the Freedom Defense Outpost to the 2005 Gi Joe roster-year. This thing was built to be reconfigured into two different modes, depending on the Joes' needs (but it's not made out of Legos, nope nope). This incidentally finishes up 2005 entirely. Neat, eh?
November 1st, 2010: hey, it's November! That means nothing to my progress on the D.P. 7 Cover Gallery, but I have nonetheless added to it for your viewing pleasure. This addition to such sees me adding the covers of issues twelve through twenty one, as well as the annual's cover, both to the Gallery link proper and to the new Issue Guide pages. Nice, eh?
October 31st, 2010: it's Halloween! Fittingly, I have yet more updates to the Book of Magic for you! I've finally worked out the details on the Enchantment spell, which more closely mirrors the regular inventing process (and costs a lot less). This change will be moved to the Psi version eventually. Also, have written up Invisibility / Self and / Others. Woo!
October 30th, 2010: wow, Walkabout 8 is almost done already - that's a good sign that the Gi Joe Handbook is proceding nicely! For our 2004 portion of said Walkabout, I have for you the Neutralizer, a sort of mini-tank that puts one in the mind of the team's Armadillo, sorta. Except that it fires missiles instead of mini-tank shells. And it's brown-ish. And shinier.
October 29th, 2010: continuing to lay the groundwork for my expansive coverage of the D.P. 7 series for the New Universe Handbook, I've put together half of the twelve Issue Guide 'skeleton' pages. This way, once I'm ready to, I can just 'pour' the text into them (once it's written for each issue of course), with neither muss nor fuss. It's just prep work but... it'll pay off!
October 28th, 2010: so things are escalating in the MSH Infinity reference. Crossing the halfway point in our coverage of the demonic tanar'ri, we've just added the nabassu to the dozen tanar'ri already hanging out there. The first of the 'greater' tanar'ri, nabassu journey to the material planes to slay ill-prepared summoners and subsequently rampage!
October 27th, 2010: continuing along with Walkabout 8, we are moving up to 2003 in the unfinished Gi Joe roster-years. The addition to such today is the Desert Coyote, a sort of weaponized go-kart that Clutch (and later Recondo) used to sow chaos amongst the ranks of Cobra troops. It is incredibly small for its firepower, and awfully fast, too!
October 26th, 2010: with a lot of the preamble done away with, I've started work assembling the D.P. 7 Cover Gallery. The work I speak of has seen me add the first eleven issues to said Gallery, linked to from the D.P. 7 index. Will add links to the Issue Guide pages as soon as I get those all assembled for you. It's a bit slow going but they're coming along nicely!
October 25th, 2010: on this special day here at Technohol 13, I have cleaned up the buttons and faction corner images of the Transformers: Robots in Disguise reference, and optimized that darn logo so it loads up a bit faster. That means that, at long last, this Handbook is done at last. Seriously - one of my projects is finally done. Done! ZOMG
October 24th, 2010: woo, things are picking up here in the Gi Joe Handbook! We're starting up Walkabout 8 now, the first installment of which sees us covering the Blockbuster. Though its 'blueprints' are rather sparse, the thing is a rather large Arctic missile launcher on wheels - wheels which are, in fact, as large as the driver. They're huge!
October 23rd, 2010: having set up the minimal 'core' of the D.P. 7 portion of the New Universe Handbook, I went and finally figured out when that Untold Tale of the New Universe starting our septet occurred. It seems that it has to occur between issues four and five, and likely before the fifth issue of Kickers, Inc. I've subsequently updated the Chronology accordingly.
October 22nd, 2010: time for another addition to the Variant Earth 13 campaign reference! Having covered the 'general' entry for the pixie last time, I figured I'd go ahead and hit the pixie mentioned in the 'flavor' text for that section. So I have for you a complete description of Seamus Shish Kebab, in three different versions for your gaming delights!
October 21st, 2010: on this august day in October (no, August is already done), we add Mace to the Gi Joe Handbook. This last fellow from the 1993 Joe personnel caps off that year at long last, meaning that we've only got four more to do in the standard roster (before I clean up some comic book loose ends and offshoot toy lines). But hey - '93's done!
October 20th, 2010: with everything else I could possibly do to clean up the New Universe Handbook done, I have plum run out of excuses, and am now starting to work on my coverage of the D.P. 7 series. To start with I've set up the basis for the Cover Gallery and Issue Guides, and have added an 'index' image to introduce this series like I did the other six so far.
October 19th, 2010: spells, spells, spells! I have concocted descriptions for three more spells in the Book of Magic - appropriate for this month, no? Today's additions include Extend, Faerie Dust (which replaces Mystery in the Faerie School selection), and Fey Sense. I'll work out those oddballs in the 'E' and 'F' section soon enough, rest assured!
October 18th, 2010: ah, completion draws near! The latest addition to the 1993 Gi Joe roster-year sees us covering the Ghoststriker X-16 in all its strange glory. This vehicle is designed around being able to travel at speeds of Mach 10, which means it can outrace its own missiles. Also, it's my first Gi Joe description with a 'Class 1000' rank in it. Hooboy!
October 17th, 2010: so sort of being 'in between' things in the New Universe Handbook, I figured I would go ahead and handle the last 'loose end' I had before I began something else big. This was adding imagery to the Living Tribunal, which means every single character I've covered for the New Universe so far (aside from Jim Hanrahan) now has proper Imagery representation!
October 16th, 2010: taking a break from the tanar'ri in my MSH Infinity project, I've covered a strange, distant cousin of such for the current update of that reference. Said update covers viper trees, a sort of bizarre hybrid of demon, reptile and plant, examples of which grow in the Abyss and on the sites of particularly horrible Blood War battles...
October 15th, 2010: while I may not have had quite as much sheer fun writing up Long Arm as I did Colonel Courage, the former is now ready for your gaming use as well. This EOD and first strike specialist is notable for wearing a rather large padded uniform that assists him in the disarming of bombs - or if all else fails, absorbing the brunt of their blasts...
October 14th, 2010: on this awesome day, almost halfway through October, I have added an image of the last member of the Medusa Web, Toocheetsch (Obese), to the Psi-Force's imagery. I also added a new 'face' to the Psi-Force index, and added a team-stylized 'hawk' to the corner boxes that aren't already occupied. Which means the Psi-Force visual upgrade is done!
October 13th, 2010: so this day sees me completing the last human I need to fill out the Miscellany section of my Transformers: Robots in Disguise Handbook! She is Kelly, the last fleshling of any significance from that animated series, and probably didn't really need a character description, but it seemed like a fun idea, so I did. And now it's there for you!
October 12th, 2010: quickly running low on remaining Gi Joe vehicles to cover from 1993, I've touched upon the Mudbuster on this fine October morning. The Mudbuster is a cyan (or teal?) weaponized monster truck, complete with a massive grappling hook / missile launcher and a cow-catcher bumper that actually springs out to break bones and smash opposition. Rock!
October 11th, 2010: ah, nigh-completion. I'm worming my way through the last of the Medusa Web operatives who have yet to have images added to the Psi-Force portion of the New Universe Handbook, and lo - here's two of the last three to go! I have added a picture of Gatto di Sangue (the Blood Cat) and Relampago (Lightning) - both of whom died in action. D'oh.
October 10th, 2010: having indulged in a bit of text-based fancy based on our all new addition to the Variant Earth 13 reference, it's high time we actually cover the pixie proper. So I have added a description of the pixie for the MSH Classic, Marvel Saga and Edition 13 rules systems, and cross-linked them to the MSH Infinity thing - they work for it too, y'know!
October 9th, 2010: the first of three remaining Joes from 1993 that need covering for this roster-year, I have for you a comprehensive description of Colonel Courage. I didn't like this fellow at first, at least until I wrote him up, and now I find him amusing. I guess one shouldn't judge a character by their absolutely ridiculous code name (or something).
October 8th, 2010: time for yet another addition to the Psi-Force Imagery, as I work to completely 'modernize' my New Universe Handbook! The addition du jour is another duo of Medusa Web operatives, both of whom got more than a little bit of 'lip service' during the series' run. They are Backfire and Troublemaker, two of the team's most smarmy members!
October 7th, 2010: it would appear that it is time for me to make another addition to the Book of Magic! This installment of such sees me adding three more spells again, these being Healing / Others, Invulnerability Aura and Resistance Aura, the latter of the two will also double as 'updated' versions of their equivalent psi powers (when I get to updating the Manual). Oh oh, spoiler!
October 6th, 2010: so with today's addition to the 1993 Gi Joe roster, we're halfway done with this year. Also: we've finally worked out enough of those 'excess' vehicles to alternate between them and Joes again. But, for specifics, we have the Shark 9000 for you, a high speed patrol boat that can actually move on land for short periods if it needs to. Seriously!
October 5th, 2010: it looks like it's high time I cover the last actual member of the Psi-Force team. She is Sedara Bakut, an Afghanistani (or Afghan? I always forget) paranormal with the power to open 'doors' between two points in space. Finding a decent image of her was hard, but I went with the best 'full body' shot I could find in Psi-Force issue 32.
October 4th, 2010: resuming my work on the demonic tanar'ri for the MSH Infinity project, I've covered the bulezau. These psychotic murder beasts are eight feet tall, and resemble a man with a ram's head. They're intransigent, they're surly, they're dim-witted, and they're incredibly tough - a mix of qualities that make them more than a handful in a fight.
October 3rd, 2010: yeah, we're not quite done with Gi Joe vehicles yet. Today's addition to the 1993 Gi Joe roster-year is the last 'special teams' vehicle though. It's the Monster Blaster A.P.C., a vehicle so spiffy that Cobra ripped it off over a decade later to staff with its ever-expendable Battle Android Troopers. Check out the cannon on that thing!
October 2nd, 2010: it would appear that the Psi-Force imagery is coming along quite nicely, and is in fact close to being done. Close, after a fashion. Having mostly just Medusa Web operatives to image up in order to finish up, I've started hitting them in earnest, and have covered two minor but essential folks from that group: Dustoff and Imprint!
October 1st, 2010: still poking my fingers into the obscure portions of the Transformers: Robots in Disguise series, I have concocted yet another fleshling addition to the related Handbook. He is of course Doctor Onishi, something of a Mad Scientist, being an expert in archaeology, computers, energy generation and even physics - he does a lot of reading!
September 30th, 2010: with only one more lump of equipment left, I thought I'd complete the Star Brigade roster today. That's right, this means I've produced a description of the mighty Gi Joe Armor Bot for you! This hulking, twelve yard tall behemoth is armed to the teeth and armored enough to give Cobra's space craft a serious run for their money!
September 29th, 2010: I suppose it wouldn't hurt to add another Russian to the Psi-Force Imagery for that there New Universe Handbook thing I've been working on sprucing up. To ths end, I have just added not one, but two pictures of Johnny Do - the Heatseeker! These both came from his 'handbook' entry in the back of Psi-Force issue 26. Enjoy!
September 28th, 2010: now that I'm all done toying with the dead in the Variant Earth 13 reference (at least until I decide to upgrade the old vampire stuff), I have begun a new 'alien' section. Today, instead of a conversion of old material, I'm starting an all new creature deal, this being the pixie. Why the pixie though, you may ask? Why not, I say!
September 27th, 2010: continuing on with the '93 Gi Joe material, I've gone and done up a 1988 Cobra ride, the Stellar Stiletto. This may seem counter-intuitive, but that vehicle was the basis of the '93 Gi Joe Starfighter, which I have of course also covered today. Which means that you got a two-for-one special at Technohol 13 today. Yay!
September 26th, 2010: I've got a couple more images of people from the Psi-Force series for your enjoyment on this august day in September. Additions to the New Universe Imagery include both Derek Shiningstar and Michael Proudhawk, both of whom were operatives of the Central Intelligence Agency who were inexplicably active on American soil. Isn't that a no-no?
September 25th, 2010: right on schedule, we here at Technohol 13 have even MOAR selections from the Book of Magic available for your perusal. So persue them! They are Familiar, Forgetfulness and Healing / Self. That's three rather useful abilites for the aspiring mage right there, all of which are not school-specific; yes, they're available to everyone!
September 24th, 2010: alas, poor Walkabout 7, we hardly knew ye. But since you're gone, it is time that we officially turn our hoary gaze unto the 1993 Gi Joe roster. Of course, there's way more vehicles than Joes to cover, so we'll be doing up most of those first. Our first '93 ride is the Pile Driver, a strange spinning hammer on wheels. No, really!
September 23rd, 2010: for the latest installment of the Psi-Force Imagery, I've decided to cover the last member of the original Psi-Force team. He is of course Salvo, that psychokinetic 'nerd' that had problems dealing with others (sort of like the author of this site). While he was written out halfway through the series, he eventually made his way back to the group.
September 22nd, 2010: picking up the various PlaneScape books I possess, I have pored over them in order to produce for you yet another diabolical addition to the MSH Infinity project. The latest entry for such is a description of the Bar-lgura, who I presume was created solely so the author could say he made a gorilla that uses guerilla tactics. Sigh.
September 21st, 2010: today sees the end of Walkabout 7. For this occasion, we'll cover Tiger Claw, the last Gi Joe operative we haven't looked at yet from 2005 (noticing a trend, here?) Oddly he's not a member of the Tiger Force (I know, right?) nor does he drive the Tiger Paw, but he's yet another of Snake-Eyes' apprentices, so check the man out!
September 20th, 2010: I have not only added two more sets of images to the Psi-Force Imagery today, but I've added two Soviet paranormals, to be specific. They include Mindwolf, from way back in Psi-Force issue 1, and Coojeechiscue, who showed up in four issues of the book towards the end of its run (and managed to survive, unlike a lot of her team).
September 19th, 2010: I have another addition to the Miscellany portion of the Transformers: Robots in Disguise Handbook for you. This one is the main 'human' that adventured with the Autobots while they were on earth, Koji Onishi - son of a Mad Scientist and friend of many advanced alien time traveling robots that transform into other machines!
September 18th, 2010: today's portion of Walkabout 7 sees us covering the last man from the 2004 roster - and the last member of the Night Force I needed to cover. He is the Action Man, a guy with a rather improbable origin. Or possibly two; I imagine he was meant to be two different interpretations of Action Man, but really, isn't there just one Action Man?
September 17th, 2010: I'm still working dilligently on adding images to all my character descriptions in the Psi-Force portion of the New Universe handbook! Attending to another 'core' cast member on this odd September afternoon, I have installed pictures in Lindsey Falmon's profile. Also known as Overtime, she's something of a psychometric whiz!
September 16th, 2010: for today's addition to Variant Earth 13, I have generated imagery of sorts for all six occupants of the 'zombie' section of the aliens reference there. I used the character generator in City of Heroes to approximate all six folks, doing at least two images for each - and some had a bunch more. Check 'em if you want some cheap amusement!
September 15th, 2010: already, we have struck the halfway point of Walkabout 7! Today's addition is a Joe from 2003 we haven't talked about yet. He's Red Spot, a Gi Joe laser trooper who takes great pains to pretend he has a normal life. The guy plays baseball, he trains in the martial arts, and he even dates 'real' girls. Whatever a 'real' girl is...
September 14th, 2010: done with Russians for the moment, the Psi-Force's Imagery for the New Universe Handbook is looking a bit elsewhere for its two additions today. Thus we will add a man from England, him being Skybreaker, and another from Greece, him being Babel. Each has two images, both culled from 'handbook' entries for each in Psi-Force #26.
September 13th, 2010: today is the day in which we once again delve deep into the Book of Magic, and draw forth more arcane and forgotten lore for your perusal. The gems of knowledge we grant you today include the Flexibility, Glow and Shrinking / Others spells - which, incidentally, completes the 'G' portion of the spell roster. Groovy, eh?
September 12th, 2010: continuing along on Walkabout 7, we take a look at the 1994 Gi Joe roster in order to do even more damage. Today's addition to the 13 sees us covering Space Shot, though admittedly I had a bit more fun with him than I should've. But he closes out the '94 personnel (if not the '94 gear), as well as the Star Brigade personnel. Neat!
September 11th, 2010: resuming my work on the New Universe Imagery, I have added another couple images to the Psi-Force's roster. This person is Anastasia Inyushin, the Healer, who had (you guessed it) healing powers which allowed the team to absorb a truly incredible amount of punishment - at least, before her horrible death at the hands of the Army.
September 10th, 2010: the latest addition to the MSH Infinity project finally justifies me having a 'y' section in the Master Roster. This is because we have finally covered the yochlol, the so-called Handmaidens of Lolth, tanar'ri twisted even more than they already are and given great power in order to better serve the goddess of the dark elves!
September 9th, 2010: what with the 1992 Gi Joe material being all done, it's time for Walkabout 7! This one begins in 1993, and sees us covering the last dude from the Gi Joe Ninja Force we haven't touched. He is of course T'Gin-Zu, a student of the martial arts for several decades, and possibly one of the oldest 'new' recruits onto the team ever!
September 8th, 2010: it is now time to add images to two more characters in the Psi-Force section of the New Universe Handbook. This work covers not one but two paranormals from Russia, them being Shivowtnoeh and Sillatochca (say that fast ten times!) I've added two pictures of each, both culled from their 'handbook' style entries in Psi-Force issue 26.
September 7th, 2010: so for those of you who thought I was absolutely, positively done with the Transformers: Robots in Disguise reference save for a bit of clean-up, I have a surprise for you! I have added a sixth character section to that Handbook, that being a Miscellany of oddball characters from the cartoon, and have also added its first occupant: T-AI!
September 6th, 2010: as was the case when I finished up the '91 Gi Joe roster, there was one odd man out, a fellow who was neither a Joe or a Cobra. This situation also persists in '92, for that year also saw an Oktober Guard figure released. Today's Guardsman is Big Bear, the second 'new' addition to the team after the original group was nearly wiped out!
September 5th, 2010: it would appear that it is time to make another addition to the Psi-Force portion of the New Universe's Imagery. Said addition is Kathy Ling, also known as Shockwave to the C.I.A., a young lady with potent telekinetic powers who, once she got over how 'gross' they felt, was able to master them and become incredibly powerful in her own right!
September 4th, 2010: my hoary eye once again returning to gaze upon the realm of Variant Earth 13, I have added yet another character for your amusements of the gaming sort! He is Jurgium Eternus, another 'regular' zombie like Yorick the Yogi - save that instead of wanting to spare the world from the zombie plague, Jurgium Eternus wants to hasten it's spread!
September 3rd, 2010: while we did not actually finish up the 1992 Gi Joe roster-year whilst wrapping up the month of August, well, it's time to do so now. The end of '92 comes with the showcasing of Fort America, a weird vehicle that can transform between a tank and fortress configuration. It's an odd little play set, and now you can add it to your games!
September 2nd, 2010: it would appear that it is once more time for me to add some artistic merit to the New Universe Handbook! I've got pictures of two more folks for you on this fine September afternoon, both of them being Russian antagonists of the Psi-Force team. They include Serge Vladimiroff (one picture) and Rodstvow (two pictures). The usual corner box goodness applies!
September 1st, 2010: welcome to the first day of September! For this special-ish occasion, I have not one, not two, but three more spells for you from the Book of Magic! They include Enlightenment, Glamor, and Shrinking / Self, the latter of which probably involved the greatest research and mathematics I ever had to deploy for this web site. No, really!
August 31st, 2010: it's the last day of August! However, it is not the last day we will be using to talk about the 1992 Gi Joe roster - oh no. Today's addition is the Desert Apache AH-74, a modified version of the Army's AH-64 which you see and/or hear about on the news now and then. It's an odd toy, but it's a great vehicle - check it out!
August 30th, 2010: returning my hoary, hoary gaze to the New Universe Handbook, I have another addition to the Psi-Force Imagery! Grabbing a couple scans of Wayne Tucker, I have added them to that telepath's rosters (both Classic and Saga), giving him not only a corner box image, but three (count 'em) scans to show what he looks like and to show him in action.
August 29th, 2010: so I'm looking at my big ol' list of Tanar'ri to cover, and see the succubus is next in line. So I covered it! That's right, I've just added these demonic temptresses to the MSH Infinity reference, covering them in all their exquisite detail in order to make them a truly terrifying threat for your MSH RPG game - no matter the flavor!
August 28th, 2010: at the nadir of the 1992 Gi Joe roster-year remnants, we are! The installment of such for this august day in August is General Flagg III, the son of the original commander of the Gi Joe team, the General Flagg II. He got no play in the comics, but it's actually not a half bad action figure, even if he comes with a... catapult?
August 27th, 2010: it would appear that it's time for me to make some more additions to the New Universe Handbook's Imagery! Continuing on in my effort to cover everyone from the Psi-Force series, I've added pictures of Potiphar (two of them) and Andrew Chaser (one of them). Of course they both get the corner box imagery too, so their updates are finally finished!
August 26th, 2010: still more upgrades to the Robots in Disguise Transformers reference today - you'd think I'd just finish it or something. Today I added little corner box pictures to just about everyone in this Handbook, save for Mirage, Nightcruz and Scavenger. I'll get to those some day, as soon as I get ahold of my old RiD collection and take some photos. Or something.
August 25th, 2010: it's time for installment 2 of the 1992 Gi Joe roster! Today you've got another Gi Joe vehicle in your hands, as that's mostly what's left of the '92 roster-year at this point, and it is the Storm Jet! This thing was a fighter jet with a 'laser' gimmick that was a jet of water; it's basically a really expensive water gun! But it's neat, right?
August 24th, 2010: so I'm reanimating the zombie scanner once more, and have coaxed a couple more images out of it from the Psi-Force series. Those I have added to the New Universe Handbook today are a triple-threat of Psi-Hawk photographs, three different images of him manifesting and dishing out the pain. But mostly just manifesting - he doesn't do all that much in 'em...
August 23rd, 2010: so I'm looking at the Variant Earth 13 reference again today, and noticed that I had referred to another greater zombie in Boo-Getty's history and yet I never covered her! So today I have produced a description of the Undead Girl, a sort of zombie hooligan (she was Dead Girl, but in the last decade I guess one showed up in X-force...!)
August 22nd, 2010: so there's another fine Walkabout done. And with that completed, it's time we pick up and finish all the stuff that our previous progress thus far hasn't helped us to wrap up in the 1992 Gi Joe roster-year! Today's entrant into the Technohol 13 Gi Joe handbook is the Patriot - a small, tracked vehicle with a large missile launcher. Yeah, Joe rides with missiles... surprise!
August 21st, 2010: it's Psi Time again! Jumping about my Psi-Force issues I've come up with a few more additions to the Imagery! I have concocted a jpeg image of Donner Kopf, the Thunder Head, as well as one of the Skipper. Mind you, the latter wasn't my favorite, but it's the best I saw in the series (unless I overlooked one) that shows more than his head.
August 20th, 2010: it would appear that it's time for us to read yet another excerpt from the Book of Magic! For those of you who are interested, we can peer upon the likes of Enhancement, Growth / Other and Layered Shield. I think that covers the entire 'Shields' group spell, so go check those out if you're looking for defensive (or weird) magics, already!
August 19th, 2010: Technohol 13 has a special treat for you today! Ending out Walkabout 6 (already, I know) we have for you a detailed description of the R.O.C.C., or the Rolling Operations Command Center, including its secret mini-jet, freaky-weird holographic disguise matrix, and a whole lot more. Check out this weaponized tractor trailer a.s.a.p.!
August 18th, 2010: returning to the New Universe Handbook, I have again prodded the undead scanner in order to squeeze a little more visual goodness out of it. Perusing my Psi-Force comics, I have come up with enough images to showcase Tyrone Jessup, the Voyager, in all his energy-casting glory. And of course I added the requisite corner box imagery. Enjoy!
August 17th, 2010: so just three days ago I cleaned up all the roster pages in the Transformers: Robots in Disguise reference, and that's just what I've done in the MSH Infinity reference today. All of those modrons, tanar'ri and 'others' have now been switched over to the new roster scheme. Also did that tanar'ri sub-page, too... groovy?
August 16th, 2010: we're slowly creeping up towards the end of Walkabout 6 - you notice how these are passing by faster and faster yet? This installment of Walkabout 6 features the Defense Mech, a mechanized suit of armor sporting ridiculous firepower, and serves as a nice update for the ten year old Gi Joe Power Fighter from the Star Brigade days.
August 15th, 2010: it's time I do more work on the Psi-Force Imagery! Trolling around through my Psi-Force collection, I've found some images I liked of both Emmett Proudhawk and Electrique - they're both some of the few images that feature either full body shots or close to it. As with Boyd, I also gave each a separate corner image as well. Love me?
August 14th, 2010: I've gone ahead and updated all of the many and various rosters of the occupants of the Transformers: Robots in Disguise Handbook. This is the new format I'm using for such on the 13, to be phased in when I get the time, since it has room for more than two systems. It's not as pretty but it's more functional (as you can see on those v13 rosters).
August 13th, 2010: continuing on with Walkabout 6, it's time to take a look at the 2003 equipment roster again. Since we covered Barrel Roll back on Walkabout 5 at around this time, I figure it's about time I hit his ride. That is of course the Air Assault Glider, and I did both the Gi Joe and Cobra versions (since there were several)!
August 12th, 2010: I've broken out the ancient scanner again - so old that HP won't make drivers for it any more - and started doing some scannery for the Psi-Force portion of the New Universe Handbook. This first addition to that reference is three images of Thomas Boyd, the Psi-Stalker (nee Syphon). I even gave him a nifty corner image. Am I not lovely?
August 11th, 2010: taking another crack at my work to convert my v13 stuff into an online campaign setting 'source' for the various games hosted here, I've done some work on Boo-Getty. I added a 4c version of him, as well as his 'new' powers, and even produced some quickety imagery for you to chew on, for a general hint of his appearance and such.
August 10th, 2010: for our third installment of Walkabout 6, we have something of a rather quick update for you. It is the Manta Ray, a 1994 Gi Joe vehicle that was sort of minmalistic. It's an inflatable raft with a sort of steel 'deck' that floats atop the blow-up part, complete with a missile launcher and the ability to absorb a few bullets. Or something.
August 9th, 2010: to start out this Technoholic month, I have cleared the last of the 'dead wood' from my New Universe roster pages. I've converted the Medusa Web and Red Sun rosters to the new format I've decided to go with, and have also hit the remaining placeholder rosters I had hiding out there, for both Justice and the Starblasters. Completion!
August 8th, 2010: on this last day of the Technoholic month, it's time we turn our awareness back to the mighty Book of Magic. Today's additions to that mystic reference include Energy Sense, Growth / Self and Great Shield. I know it looks like I'm wandering aimlessly through the spell list, and I partly am, but there is minor method to the madness. I think?
August 7th, 2010: hey, it's time for another installment of Walkabout 6! The Gi Joe Handbook is slowly cleaning up quite nicely, and as a result I'm happy to present this description of the Ninja Lightning Cycle. This '93 vehicle was refurbished in 2004 for both Gi Joe and Cobra, and later in 2005 for Gi Joe again - as Kamakura's swank ninja ride. Or something.
August 6th, 2010: having completed my update to all the completed New Universe sections' indexes, I have done a retro-fit of the Psi-Force character roster. All sixteen or so folks on that page have been moved over to the new format, leaving just the Medusa Web and Red Sun villain rosters to go. And then: we move on to new imagery. Rock? Rock.
August 5th, 2010: for this installment of my MSH Infinity update, I decided to mix it up a little, and cover something I probably should've before I started the tanar'ri at all. It is the Larva, a sort of worm-like creature that most petitioners in the lower planes arrive as, assuming no deity or other power lays claim over the soul upon its arrival.
August 4th, 2010: with '91 all done, it's time to begin yet another Walkabout. Walkabout 6 is a journey through the ranks of yet to be covered Gi Joe vehicles through the years, and starting in 1992 we take a look at the Barracuda, a one-man Gi Joe sub. It's also the 2000 Cobra Wave Crusher, so today also finishes the 'new' 2000 Cobra devices. Nice, eh?
August 3rd, 2010: looks like we're just about done with the latest wave of changes to the New Universe's index pages. I went ahead and covered the Pitt page today, as well as the 'placeholder' pages for the Draft and the War prestige issues, which just leaves me the Psi-Force stuff to iron out now. And then it'll be time to add images to that, right?
August 2nd, 2010: I've completed the second half of my massive Autobot error checking task. Today I have looked all the Autobots to make sure I didn't bork their power levels (and I did a tad), and have revised Midnight Express, Prowl, R.E.V., Railspike, Side Burn, and Skid-Z. Not too bad I suppose, but I hate being off even a little bit. Bleh.
August 1st, 2010: ah, August. Only five more months until the (calendar) year is through! Though the '91 Gi Joe roster is done, there's one 'loose end' that is neither Joe nor Cobra that I needed to cover. He is Red Star, the first Oktober Guard action figure ever released. He's in the Fringe Groups section of the Joe Handbook - and in three versions!
July 31st, 2010: it's the end of July, which means, er, nothing really. But I've gone and altered the index for the Star Brand section of the New Universe, making it match the 'new' format I'm propagating through the 13. It's not an upgrade so much as a change to something more versatile; I prefer the old design, really, but it can only handle two systems. Sigh.
July 30th, 2010: yet more Variant Earth 13 zombie work today. I've gone ahead and done an addition of a 4C System: Edition 13 version of my Greater Zombie description. Of course that's not all... I added a new power to the greater zombies, which I propagated amongst the various version of that creature's write-ups. Check 'em out - they don't sparkle!
July 29th, 2010: having covered all the existing Gi Joe action figures from 1991, as well as the rest of its gear thus far, it's time to wrap that year up once and for all. Today's addition to the 13 does just that, covering the Brawler for you in all its heavy armed glory. It's a large self propelled gun with ablative armor. Check it out, already!
July 28th, 2010: moving along quite nicely as I once again update the 'look' of the various New Universe roster pages (as a part of similar work ultimately to take place on the entire 13), I have updated the Nightmask index page. Again. I converted all nine entries into the new, multi-system roster format, and have moved said changes over to the Master Roster. Woo!
July 27th, 2010: it would appear that it's time to open the cover of the Book of Magic again, in order to appraise you of three more spell descriptions. Said additions for the day include Finding, Individual Shield and Longevity. I also vastly overhauled the 'Shields' group spell, 'cause frankly I blew the spell selection in it - and badly.
July 26th, 2010: well, I'm out of Gi Joes from '91 who actually had action figures produced. That leaves the guy who was a comic-only creation from that year. He is of course Cool Breeze, that guy who showed up for only one issue of the book - 112, I think - and bought it at the end. Which may or may not be a good thing, depending on how you liked him...
July 25th, 2010: continuing my further upgrades of the New Universe index pages, I have gone over and straightened out the Mark Hazzard: Merc index. This covers all nine-ish folks in there, and I propagated that change into the Master Roster. I assure you that will look better once I've got a bit more of the 13 converted over to the new(est) format. Honest!
July 24th, 2010: today's update of the MSH Infinity reference sees us completing about half of the 'lesser' tanar'ri. Of course, this particular entry hardly seems weak, having no less than twenty powers (give or take). The maurezhi is a sort of ghoulish thing that eats the minds and bodies of its victims, and uses them to grow in might!
July 23rd, 2010: it looks like we've passed the halfway point where the 1991 Gi Joe roster is concerned. This is because I have just completed a description of the Battle Wagon, a sort of motorized, over-sized pickup-truck looking thingus the Gi Joe team took to using in this roster-year. Mind the motorized missile launcher on the thing - it hurts!
July 22nd, 2010: completing the second half of the work I began three days ago, I have completed my latest upgrade of the Codename: Spitfire roster pages. The specific pages 'fixed' today include the small roster pages for both Krotze International and the Club, meaning that the Spitfire stuff is done. Again again again. I'd say I won't touch it again, but at this point...
July 21st, 2010: performed the first half of my error checking on my Autobot descriptions in the Robots in Disguise reference. I found almost all the Classic versions lacked the radio gear (though the Saga versions had 'em just fine). Fixed that, and fixed the Saga versions' Growth and Microscopic / Telescopic vision powers, along with a few other tiny things.
July 20th, 2010: this is where we resume the 1991 Gi Joe roster! The addition we have for you on this fine summer day is Tracker, the last actual Gi Joe action figure released in '91 (the rest are Cobras or Oktober Guards). He's a Navy S.E.A.L. that's really good at tracking people, which is sorta why he's called Tracker, one would s'pose...
July 19th, 2010: in the same vein as I did three days ago, I have gone and inflicted a serious upgrade to the Codename: Spitfire (and the Troubleshooters) index page. I've updated all the rosters to the newer, slightly plainer versions, and will go ahead and finish that up for the villain groups linked to from this page next time I hit this New U stuff. Ah, consistency!
July 18th, 2010: still working on the zombies portion of the Variant Earth 13 upgrade, I have added a 4C System: Edition 13 version of my Yorick the Yogi write-up. His entry was a bit more in depth than the 'generic' zombie one so it took a bit longer to complete, but I'm getting a better feel for how these things will progress. And it should progress well!
July 17th, 2010: picking up where we left off on the 1991 Gi Joe personnel and equipment roster, I have concocted a description of the Badger. It's a highly Jeep-like vehicle, though it only has room for one occupant. Bright yellow, this thing is conspicuous by also having no guns mounted on it at all, just a missile launcher - a rarity for a Joe ride!
July 16th, 2010: so even though I specifically said I was done with some of this stuff, I'm digging it up one more time. Today I went way back to the Kickers, Inc. index page, and updated the rosters on it to the new, multi-system format (designed a bit ago for the v13 stuff). I also propagated those changes to the Master Roster (though it looks funky right now).
July 15th, 2010: continuing my 'out of order' procession through the Book of Magic, I have a couple more oddly placed spells for you today. Today's thaumaturgic trio includes Nature Control (since I had the similar Elemental Control spell done already), Paralysis and Philosophical Sense. Oh look, the 'N' spells are all done now - nifty, eh?
July 14th, 2010: Continuing on with the somewhat small group of Gi Joes remaining from 1991, we hit one of the few personnel left. Today's addition is Major Altitude, the highly skilled helicopter pilot who aimed to join this highly classified mission force ever since he was a wee youth, knowing of its existence despite layers of government secrecy...
July 13th, 2010: since I can't finish the Star Brand's visual overhaul (lacking a proper image of Lt. Jim Hanrahan), I am wrapping up by cleaning up the main page of that reference with a new graphic, to match the others. Similarly, I have done the same for the Pitt section, since i was otherwise done with it, too. I even updated their zip files!
July 12th, 2010: looks like it's high time I produce for thee another addition to the MSH Infinity reference. And I have! Your latest addition to that work is a description of the armanite, creepy, sort of dead-looking centaur-like creatures of a mercenary bent that inhabits a specific layer of the Abyss - mostly since nobody else wants it...
July 11th, 2010: well, it appears that Walkabout 5 is done, so you guessed it - we'll start covering all of the 1991 Gi Joe personnel and equipment remaining today. This effort will begin by taking a look at the Attack Cruiser, a heavily armed off-road vehicle that can launch a U.A.V. at its target - which can also serve as a bomb in a pinch!
July 10th, 2010: once more gazing upon the Star Brand portion of the New Unvierse Handbook, I have added my last Imagery graphics for the time being. This includes a picture of Colonel MacIntyre Browning, along with a corner box picture for Jim Hanrahan; Imagery for the latter will have to wait until I get another copy of Quasar #31, apparently (mine's missing).
July 9th, 2010: I've engaged in another round of checks on my completed Transformers: Robots in Disguise character descriptions. I streamlined the Saga 'stock powers' for the various Predacons and that one Maximal, and fine tuned power levels for Dark Scream, Gas Skunk, Sky-Bite and Slapper. That just leaves the Autobots to go now, before we're all modern!
July 8th, 2010: it looks like Walkabout 5 has wound down, for we are on the last roster-year that I have yet to cover (not counting any 2010 stuff that pops up this year... but we have time yet for that). The last portion of said Walkabout is Long Range 2, a guy who got little press in regular Joe circles, but was apparently a big part of the Sigma 6 story...
July 7th, 2010: adding yet more imagery to the Star Brand portion of the New Universe Handbook, I've got a couple more goodies for you today! The additions to the Handbook's imagery include a photo of Ereskigal, as well as three (count 'em) of the Famileech, showcasing its evolution from an ordinary family of four into, well, a gigantic flesh-eating monster!
July 6th, 2010: continuing my work to completely overhaul the nature of the Variant Earth 13 portion of the site, I have added a 4C System: Edition 13 version of my zombie write-up. Since nothing about zombies is campaign-specific, this was rather easy to accomplish, but it also required creating the new multi-system roster structure... bleh.
July 5th, 2010: for the 2004 installment of Walkabout 5, I have for you a description of Hard Drive. This fellow is a master computer hacker and electronicists who graduated from M.I.T. before his eighteenth birthday. Crazy as that sounds, he enlisted in the Army shortly thereafter, and has since become one of the Joes' best hardware experts!
July 4th, 2010: well, despite it being a national holiday (at least, here in the States), I've gone ahead and offered up yet more imagery for you in the Star Brand portion of the New Universe handbook! This installment of such includes Kayla Ballantine, and her boyfriend Quasar - his costume is red and blue, though it lacks white, sadly...
July 3rd, 2010: looks like we've got some more spells for you today! These Book of Magic spell additions are not quite in alphabetical order like the previous, 'cause I needed a change of pace. Sorry! Anyway, I've added Fear, Nature Sense (because I already had the similar Elemental Sense complete) and Nonapparent Vision (formerly Identity Sense, but now a bit expanded).
July 2nd, 2010: for July's first Walkabout installment, I am covering one of the highest profile new Joes of 2003. He is Barrel Roll, a master marksman and pilot who comes from a family with a great military tradition - both his siblings tried to become Joes as well. His sister succeeded, though his brother wound up joining Cobra as the evil Blackout...
July 1st, 2010: ah, July. Only three more days until things are exploded spectacularly in the name of Uncle Sam - and we all know how awesome that is now, don't we? To keep you busy until then, here's images of two more goons from the pages of the Star Brand - Pinhead (who I scanned twice) and Spotty (who I scanned once). They're real dirt bags, too!
June 30th, 2010: well it looks like it's time to bid June adieu. The year (real, not Technoholic) is now halfway done, so what does Firebomb have for you today, you ask? Well, this half of the (real) year goes out with a bang, as I offer you a description of the tanar'ric Cambion (major and baron) for the MSH Infinity reference. Enjoy the evil!
June 29th, 2010: it's Walkabout day again! Today's installment of your 5th Walkabout is Effects, one of the last remaining fellows from the Star Brigade I've needed to cover. This '94 Joe used to be a special effects coordinator before he enlisted to blow stuff up for real - and he gets to do it in space alongside the elite Gi Joe team!
June 28th, 2010: it would appear that I owe you, the discerning Technoholic reader, some more images for their New Universe chicanery. Today's additions to the Star Brand portion of the site is an image of Scrunch, a sort of super-strong guy in the thrall of two emotion-manipulating paranormals, and Gladiator, who appeared in Star Brand #10!
June 27th, 2010: with Bludgeon done at long last, I have gone through and cleaned up my various Decepticon entries. I checked their power levels for accuracy (and I had to fix errors with Axer and Mega-Octane), and have streamlined the Saga versions' 'common Cybertronian' power blanks to match them up with my upcoming 'custom' changes to the Saga system. Woo spolier!
June 26th, 2010: speaking of the Gi Joe Ninja Force, I continue my work on that crew in the '93 roster for today's installment of Walkabout 5. This fellow is Banzai, a guy who was trained in Tibet by a mysterious ninja recluse, and has since joined the crew (and the military) once Storm Shadow learned about him and his amazing skills.
June 25th, 2010: returning to my work to ever improve the New Universe Handbook, I'm adding yet more images to the thing. Today's work sees me adding pictures - however poor - of two 'villains' who showed up in Star Brand #4: Hysteria and Tantrum. Both of these unbalanced paranormals have power over the emotions of others, generating fear and rage, respectively.
June 24th, 2010: on this auspicious date (being out of Joe photos I like) I began the work necessary to convert the Variant Earth 13 thing from a mere play by e mail game reference to a comprehensive set of campaign settings designed to support the multiple custom rules systems available on Technohol 13. This, so far, involves a few graphical upgrades and a new index page.
June 23rd, 2010: continuing with the mighty Walkabout that is Walkabout 5, I've concocted yet another Gi Joe personnel file for you on this fine day. The current addition to the 13 is of course Dojo, the last remaining member of the original, 1992 Ninja Force roster, which just leaves the '93 guys from this group before they're all done at last!
June 22nd, 2010: I have yet more New Universe Handbook updates for you on this fine day of June, which marks me as being exactly ancient and a half years old. Today I have added a new image of both Jacob Burnsley and Roger Price, two normal humans who gained the power of the Star Brand for a small period of time, for better or for ill.
June 21st, 2010: this addition to Technohol 13 sees me adding two more spells to the Book of Magic. They are Emotion Control, Empathy and Enchanted Eye, two of which are related, and the latter of which is just plain weird. It was a unique portion of the 'old' Realms of Magic thing though, so I figured I'd keep it for flavor if anything else.
June 20th, 2010: with the '89 Joe stuff done, it's time for another Walkabout! We're on Walkabout 5 now (I think), and it's time to hit another batch of vaguely vehicle-related Joes through the years (where applicable, anyway). The start of Walkabout 5 sees us covering Skymate, the second Joe Air Commando (we hit the first on Walkabout 3)!
June 19th, 2010: it's New Universe day here at the 13! Continuing my effort to add imagery to all the major characters from this series, I have added pictures, one of each, of both the Star Child and the Witness - though the latter is actually housed in the Pitt sub-section of the New Universe Handbook. I even gave 'em spiffy corner box pictures!
June 18th, 2010: looks like it's time for me to spend a little more love on the MSH Infinity project! The addition I have for you today is the Alu-fiend, the first of the lesser tanar'ri, and the product of ill romance between a succubus and a mortal male. But what about the children of the incubus, you ask? Beats me... they never went into those details. Heh.
June 17th, 2010: so I was off by one, no big deal. Today's entry is the last vehicle from the 1989 Gi Joe roster, which actually got its start as a 1985 Cobra vehicle, that being the Moray Hydrofoil. I had two of these as a wee Firebomb, for some reason, and I loved the things. Anyway, this finishes out the 1989 Gi Joe roster-year in its entirety. Huzzah!
June 16th, 2010: continuing my work on the Star Brand's corner of the New Universe Handbook, I'm engaging in even more artistic license. Having hit the Star Brand itself last time, I've gone ahead and added several (four) scans of Ken Connell: the Star Brand and one scan of Ken Connell: the Old Man. I tried to show off most of Ken's major 'looks'. Hope I succeeded!
June 15th, 2010: so it sorta melted my brain, but I finally built me a character description of Bludgeon. He was the last Decepticon I needed to wrap up the Transformers: Robots in Disguise reference, though admittedly I'm not done just yet. The heavy lifting's all done, but now I just need to do a bit of clean-up to make sure it's done for reals...
June 14th, 2010: today I built my thirteenth entry in the 1989 Gi Joe roster - at least, the thirteenth I hadn't got to yet. The object of today's scrutiny is Scoop, the last actual Joe from this roster-year I need to cover, and something of a direct-action combat correspondent. I know this should've finished the '89 stuff, but I missed one...
June 13th, 2010: with all the 'content' additions to the Star Brand portion of the New Universe complete, it's time to start adding pictures. I've got my Star Brand collection out and am assaulting it with my ancient scanner Proper! Browsing through the Star Brand books, I've acquired art of the Star Brand itself, showing a few different incarnations of the thing.
June 12th, 2010: it's Imagery day here at the 13 - an occurrence when I add more pictures to the site. Today's additions include two photographs for the A.P.C., two for the Snow Cat, two for Kwinn the Eskimo, and one photo and one scanned image of Wild Bill - all four of which are things you can find in the Gi Joe Handbook, so go poke around!
June 11th, 2010: the one vehicle out of the 1989 Gi Joe arsenal I was dreading, the Thunderclap is actually three in one, consisting of a mammoth artillery weapon, towed about by two separate vehicles: a tractor and a trailer. Of course it wasn't that bad, and apparently I've been procrastinating. But it's done now, and I included art for you too!
June 10th, 2010: having added a summary of the Star Brand's Untold Tale of the New Universe and having upgraded the Chronology to account for the appearances within, I thought it would be a good time to add the odd new character that premiered in that book. So hit the New U Handbook to check out my description of Arden: Variant Earth Researcher today!
June 9th, 2010: to start out this new Technoholic month for you, we have three more spells for your gaming amusements - and they're arguably the 'core' of the elemental school of magic. They include Elemental Aura, Elemental Control and Elemental Sense - all three Elemental spells listed in the 'basic' character generation list!
June 8th, 2010: with the number of things needed for me to complete the 1989 Gi Joe roster rapidly dwindling down, I have broken down and covered Long Range for your gaming amusements. He himself isn't all that hard to cover, but his ride is another matter entirely; the Thunderclap is intricate! Oh, I added nifty pictures for the man as well!
June 7th, 2010: having added a summary of the Star Brand's Untold Tale of the New Universe recently, I went ahead and cleaned up both the Star Brand issue guide and the New Universe chronology on this update. I added this issue to everyone that appeared in that tale, and added clickable links to all the covers of each issue, like the other New U sections have now.
June 6th, 2010: today's update of the MSH Infinity project sees the addition of the last 'least' form of tanar'ri, which isn't really that 'least' when you look at its laundry list of supernatural powers. It is the quasit, formed from mutated larvae to extend the chaos and evil of the Abyss across the multiverse via the greed of sorcerers!
June 5th, 2010: today's addition to the 13 is the 'other' small vehicle from 1989 - well, the one I haven't covered that didn't already premiere in a previous roster-year. It is the Tri-blaster, a go-kart looking thing with a triple-barreled laser cannon on the front, hence the name. And some missiles because, at this point, why not?
June 4th, 2010: since I've finally wrapped up the Nightmask stuff, I have begun to plumb the depths of the missing Star Brand material. The only thing 'lacking' so far was of course a summary of the Untold Tale of the New Universe starring Ken Connell, so I have broke my copy out and completed a description of it. And spell-checked the entire Issue Guide.
June 3rd, 2010: since I've finished up the last remaining Vehicon import to the Robots in Disguise reference, I went ahead today and cleaned up all the entries I'd produced for that thing. A few of the older ones needed reformatting (heh) into my new Saga Growth scheme, and I wanted to check their power levels, to make sure I did them right. And I did!
June 2nd, 2010: rummaging about in the 1989 Gi Joe roster-year again, I've come up with a perfect addition to the site today. Said addition is Recoil, a Gi Joe Long Range Recon Patrol (L.R.R.P.) trooper who keeps his skills sharp by sneaking up on his teammates at every opportunity. Needless to say, he tends to creep them out a little bit...!
June 1st, 2010: for the first day of the month, I offer you the completion of another part of the New Universe Handbook's upgrade. Today's efforts have seen me finally 'polish up' the Nightmask index page, and I also made links to the cover of each Nightmask issue featured in its Issue Summary. It's all cleaned up anew, and I call this one done. Again!
May 31st, 2010: for this last day of May, I've gone ahead and added a couple more photographs to the Gi Joe handbook. This is a mix of new and old stuff I'd taken, and includes one of Barbecue, Bazooka, Roadblock and Shipwreck. I already had four of Roadblock but took another new one of his '03 Tiger Force suit, so I added that in.
May 30th, 2010: having covered Hot Seat himself a scant three days ago, it's now time to detail his sweet ride, the Raider. This thing is a four tracked assault vehicle armed with heavy duty Gatling cannons and dual, twinned laser emitters. And of course missiles, because it's not a Gi Joe vehicle without the missiles attached (gliders notwithstanding).
May 29th, 2010: today's additions to the Nightmask portion of the New Universe Handbook include more segments of the Technohol 13 Imagery! These include images of Theodore 'Teddy' Remsen, Keith Remsen's sister, as well as Keith Remsen: Nightmask! That covers all of the characters from the Nightmask series, which leaves just a bit of clean up to go here!
May 28th, 2010: once again pitting my wits against the world of the arts arcane, I have concocted three new spell descriptions for you. They are the missing three eldritch attack / containment spells, including Eldritch Barrier, Eldritch Blast, and Eldritch Wave. That covers all six Eldritch (blank) spells (though one was a measley group spell) at long last!
May 27th, 2010: it's Gi Joe day (again)! Today we take a look at Hot Seat, the driver of the Gi Joe team's Raider vehicle. He's a former pro boxer who was smart enough to realize that if he stayed a boxer, he wouldn't remain smart much longer. So he enlisted in the Army instead, and got to be a drill instructor and heavy vehicle operator!
May 26th, 2010: hitting more of the remaining Nightmask Imagery work on this day, the 26th of May. I've gone and added pictures of Dr. Lucian Ballad, the sponsor of Nightmask's dream therapy work, as well as Estrellita 'Lita' Mercado, the physical therapist who Dr. Ballad hired to see to the Remsen children's well being while they worked with him.
May 25th, 2010: in my last addition to the MSH Infinity project for the month of may, I have concocted yet another diabolical creature for you! Today's description du jour is a presentation of the rutterkin. This form of demonic tanar'ri is almost of raw human capacity, save for the deformities. And the twelve or so supernatural powers...
May 24th, 2010: picking up my work on the 1989 Gi Joe equipment roster, I've produced a somewhat quick entry for you today. This strange little vehicle is the Radar Rat, which is essentially a small air defense station propelled by a 250 HP v-6 engine. Oh, and it's got missiles. Gi Joe never leaves home without a brace of missiles handy.
May 23rd, 2010: today's another day with which we will be adding more images to the Nightmask portion of the New Universe Handbook! The additions to the Imagery 13 today include pictures of Tullius Ballad and Mambo Matilda, both taken from the last issue of Nightmask's series. They're not the last oddballs he'd ever meet, but they're both something else.
May 22nd, 2010: today's look upon the rapidly completing Transformers: Robots in Disguise reference has me working out the last Vehicon I need to cover for that thing. He is Nightcruz, a former Vehicon stealth bomber drone that became sentient thanks to a spark embedded in his body at the very end of the Beast Wars conflict. Or something to that effect.
May 21st, 2010: it looks like another fine day for a Gi Joe update! Today's entrant to the 1989 Gi Joe roster is Downtown. He's a former high school basketball player turned mortar man, due to his unerring hand-eye coordination and ability to calculate complex trajectories in his head. He even showed up in a comic book once, I think. Really!
May 20th, 2010: now that I've got all the crunchy info-text and whatnot current in the Nightmask portion of the New Universe Handbook, it's time to start adding images to all the folks presented there (that I haven't already hit). Today's addition to the Technohol 13 Imagery include both the Madman and Mistress Midnight. That's two down!
May 19th, 2010: I figured now would be a good time to add a couple more photos to the Gi Joe Handbook character descriptions. These are of course pictures I took last year, so they're not quite as awesome as the ones from more recently. Visual quality added to Bombstrike, Chameleon (though I cheated on one here), Pathfinder, and Rock 'n Roll. Rock!
May 18th, 2010: since we covered Dogfight just a scant three days ago, you probably figured that I'd be hitting his ride here in the near future. And you were right! Today's addition to the 13 is the Mudfighter, a strange bomber aircraft powered by a large, rear-mounted unducted fan propeller. It's loud, it's slow, and it's armed to the teeth. Enjoy!
May 17th, 2010: I added details from the Untold Tale of the New Universe that Nightmask starred in to the New Universe Chronology today. I thought I'd already covered this, but alas I had not. So I added this book to the chronologies of Nightmask, his sister, Dr. Ballad, Lita Mercado, Dr. Kleinmann, Mistress Midnight, Udo and Gian. That's better.
May 16th, 2010: our cycle of miscellaneous updates to the 13 has returned once more to the Book of Magic, and hey, I've got more spell descriptions for you. Today's additions include summaries of Dissolution, Eldritch Bolt and Eldritch Palm. I wandered a slight bit as predicted, but at the very least I finished up those 'D' spells, right? Right?
May 15, 2010: today's installment in the 1989 Gi Joe roster is Dogfight, the rather interesting pilot of a rather interesting Gi Joe airplane: the Mudfighter! Possessed of astounding reflexes and hand-eye coordination, Dogfight is just the guy to put this strange aircraft, powered by unducted fans, into play against the forces of Cobra!
May 14th, 2010: hot on the heels of my last work on the Nightmask portion of the New Universe Handbook, I've given Dr. Horst Kleinmann's description a serious upgrade. I added details of the Untold Tale to his history, along with cleaning that up some (getting rid of broken English and such), and gave him images for the Imagery and corner box. Groovy?
May 13th, 2010: uh oh, it's the 13th. What does that mean, really? Nothing! But for this 13th day of the second month on year 13 of the 13's existence, I have for you a description of the dretch. This form of demonic tanar'ri is barely a step up from the lowly manes, but at the very least it is self-aware... if minimal so, really...
May 12th, 2010: continuing my foray into the 1989 Gi Joe roster-year, I have analyzed the form and function of the Arctic Blast, and produced a vehicular entry for this bizarre little thing. It's essentially two large wheels propelling a sled around the place. I figure I'd covered its driver a good long time ago; may as well do this ride first!
May 11th, 2010: with the Merc stuff done, it's high time I start my overhaul of the fourth New Universe book I'd already finished. This is Nightmask, and for today's work I have completed a summary of the one outstanding Nightmask tale, that being the Untold Tale from the New Universe featuring him, which wrapped up the whole Dr. Kleinmann thing!
May 10th, 2010: taking a peek at the Robots in Disguise Handbook again, I have covered the second of three Vehicons that section still required. Today's entrant to the RiD source book is Scavenger, one of the three Vehicon repaints who was originally a Vehicon drone before his 'upgrade' into a full, sentient Autobot thanks to Prime's Matrix! Or something.
May 9th, 2010: with Walkabout 4 done, it's time I start up on the 1989 Gi Joe roster! This first foray into a new year of Gi Joe-ness includes a description of Backblast, one of the 13 (woo) entries I need to finish this roster-year. He's an Army guy who grew up under an airport's landing path, and really, really hates airplanes...
May 8th, 2010: so for my last act in the first month of Technohol 13's 13th year, I have produced my absolutely, positively last entry in the Spitfire reference. He is War Tiger, a guy who barely showed up in Spitfire's 11th issue - but I figured I'd cover him since he was mentioned in Psi-Force. And now I'm done with Spitfire. Again again. I promise!
May 7th, 2010: I took a bit of time in the Technoholic update schedule to do a bit more sharing with the nerd photography I did back in early April. Today I've added two photographs each to Gi Joe members Big Brawler, Snow Job, Sure Fire, and White Out. I think I have another version of Brawler somewhere, but can't find it...
May 6th, 2010: today we put an end to the Gi Joe Handbook's Walkabout 4, a showcase of oddball vehicles through the years I have yet to cover (until, well, this Walkabout at least). Today's final entry in this mini-event is the R.H.I.N.O., or Rapid Heli-Integrated Neutralizing Offensive Vehicle for short. It's a car with a helicopter inside!
May 5th, 2010: I know I said I was done with the Spitfire stuff, but I decided to cover the remaining two people that vaguely deserve a character description from that series. Trying to be thorough, and all that. So today's addition to the 13 is Evan Reinger, an amoral jerk who stole an experimental airplane, until Spitfire blow'd him up!
May 4th, 2010: it's time for another installment of the Book of Magic! Today we have more spells for your gaming delights. They include Dimensional Interface, Dimensional Transit, and Disguise, which almost brings the 'D' section to a close. I imagine I'll do that next time unless my short attention span pulls me elsewhere. It happens, you know. Often.
May 3rd, 2010: for the 2004 portion of the fourth Gi Joe walkabout, I've concocted a description of the Humvee. Yes, we all know the Humvee is a real military vehicle, but the Gi Joe team apparently got ahold of a few of the things, instead of their 'plain label' version, the Hammer. I even got a bunch of 'open source' pictures to showcase 'em!
May 2nd, 2010: today I rewrote some of the text on the Index page of the Mark Hazzard: Merc portion of the New Universe handbook. I did this because Wikipedia ripped it off, the jerks. Also added a new version of the 'top' image, as well as cleaned up the issue guides like I have the Kickers / Psi-Force / Spitfire sections. I'm all done here (again)!
May 1st, 2010: hey, it's May! Mayday, even! I went ahead and took another turn into the MSH Infinity deal, since you know, I haven't added much in there since, oh, 2005 or so? Something like that. Anyway, complementing my 'general' tanar'ri entry from back on the 19th, I've added the manes for you - they're weak, but there's a lot of 'em!
April 30th, 2010: finishing out the month of April, I've wrought a description of a somewhat small - if particularly nifty - Gi Joe vehicle. It is the Wave Crusher, not to be confused with the Cobra ride with the same name. It's a Gi Joe water sled that can transform into a Cobra jet ski - it's one of those oddball Spy Trooops mini-vehicles!
April 29th, 2010: did my last rehabilitation work on the Mark Hazzard: Merc character profiles today, adding images of both Lincoln 'Stryker' Griffin and Sgt. Major Peel to their profiles. I added one to the Imagery and one to the corner boxes, so there's that. I now have pretty pictures of everybody in the whole Merc deal now. Aren't I swell?
April 28th, 2010: having done a description of RiD Scourge's second form the last time I worked on the RiD handbook, I figured I'd start up with the three Vehicons turned Autobots. The first of these is Mirage GT, who I interpreted as an actual Vehicon 'turned good' - or at least less jerky. His original description oddly lacked malice, after all.
April 27th, 2010: working the midsection of Walkabout 4, the vehicular special, I have covered more of the Gi Joe team's combat armor. Today's actual entry is for the Power Fighter, a small mech (!) the team could use up in space itself - though I imagine it could do some serious damage on conventional ground as well, as heavily armed as it was...
April 26th, 2010: went through another batch of Merc images today, though it's getting harder and harder to find decent imagery of our favorite combatants. Today's additions include images for both Henry 'Frenchie' Graymalkin, a 'bad guy', and Mal Rossi, a 'good guy'. Alas, I am not too happy with what I have here but it'll have to do.
April 25th, 2010: so I have decided to share the fruits of my nerd photography fest a week or so back, and have populated my description of Frostbite with a bevy of them. I replaced the two photos I'd taken of him with eleven superior ones. I was going for two in each costume, but I lacked a Tiger Cat for Tiger Force Frostbite. D'oh.
April 24th, 2010: today I have turned my hoary eye towards the 1993 Gi Joe equipment roster, producing a description of the basic Star Brigade armors. These were featured on five different figures, though one was of course the prototype, which was hard-wired into the broken shell of Greg Scott's body when he was made into the Robo-Joe. Check 'em!
April 23rd, 2010: more Merc pictures for you today, in both the Imagery feature as well as those swell corner boxes. You knew I was going to do something with them eventually, right? Today's additions include pictures of both Louis 'Treetop' Barrington and the Doc, two people who featured prominently in Mark Hazzard's professional career.
April 22nd, 2010: a slight deviation in my Magic works today. I've instead picked up some of my Core Rules business, reversing a change I made back in December and putting the basic combat stuff back on the Time and Turns page, making it Time and Combat (again). Did writing on the Fighting and Agility combat bits, but will clean it up later.
April 21st, 2010: for day three of Walkabout four, I've covered the Gi Joe Battle Copter. This was technically a '91 vehicle, but it showed up in '92 just as the Joe and Cobra gliders were present in both years, so I figured why not? Since it's a 'small' write-up though, I went ahead and produced the Cobra version of this goofy thing as well. Bonus!
April 20th, 2010: continuing my work rehabilitating the Mark Hazzard portion of the New Universe Handbook, I've added images to two more entries today. These folks include Ritter and the Priestess, the former being a pilot in Mark's employ that died in Iran, while the latter was his young charge a long time ago (though it went somewhat weird from there).
April 19th, 2010: taking a curve today, I decided to do some work on the MSH Infinity deal - my PlaneScape conversion! I know I haven't added anything here in a good long time, but today I went ahead and pulled together a sort of 'general' entry for the tanar'ri, as that's the next 'big' pile of thingies I am going to add to this particular project.
April 18th, 2010: today's second installment of the all-vehicle Walkabout 4 covers the 1991 Gi Joe Air Commandos gliders, which ultimately came in three different color schemes. Since this was a somewhat 'light' entry, I went ahead and produced the Cobra versions as well, their so-called Night Vultures gliders - so that's a two for one deal!
April 17th, 2010: today I have begun my graphical upgrade to the Mark Hazzard: Merc portion of the New Universe Handbook. Luckily this section won't take very long at all, since there's only ten people that need images added to their descriptions. I have added two images to Mark Hazzard and one to Father Johnson, as well as those wee corner boxes.
April 16th, 2010: once again, I diverge from the norm, using this 'place' in the Technoholic update schedule to work on something 'weird'. Or at least, out of the ordinary history-wise. Today i have for you an 'update' of Scourge, a second version of that RiD Transformer to account for his second truck form, the one he took after the cartoon proper.
April 15th, 2010: hey, it's tax day here in the States - hope you've settled up with the Man! Celebrating this day of government service, we have another Gi Joe description for you, this one beginning the 'all vehicles' walkabout through the Joe roster years that is Walkabout 4! Check out the 1989 roster to see my coverage of the minimalist Pulverizer!
April 14th, 2010: Before I start the Mark Hazzard portion of the latest New Universe Handbook upgrade, I paused to take yet more pictures. I found a whole lot more versions of Frostbite, so I took many of them. I also hit a large variety of other snow guys I'd uncovered, along with other random people like Big Brawler, Venomous Maximus, and... uh, some other guys.
April 13th, 2010: Moar photos! Today I didn't get quite as many Joes and Cobras photographed as I wanted, but I definitely hit a bunch. I took one of my Battle Android Trooper, two of Zarana, two of Sure Fire (even if I hate the character with a passion), one of Firefly, one of Wide Scope, and another of Duke (among a couple of others I don't recall).
April 12th, 2010: I took some time out today to engage in nerd photography. What I mean is, of course, that I have been taking advantage of inclement conditions outside to take some snazzy pictures of my Gi Joe figures - particularly the snow-bound folks. I've imaged tons of Frostbite figures, along with Snow Job, White Out, and Scarlett (her sockless snow 'uniform').
April 11th, 2010: I've done a final sweep through the Spitfire portion of the New Universe Handbook, tweaked one or two things and reassembled the big ol' archive of material I collected for it thus far. So once again, unless I add one or two people down the line (still debating that), the Spitfire and the Troubleshooters guide is done. Again!
April 10th, 2010: I haven't given up on the Book of Magic - no, not by a long shot! While I'll be 'staggering' updates of this in the short term, in order to squeeze in some other updates I've been wanting to do for a while, I'll definitely be workin' on this here text as well. Today I added Density Control / Others, Density Control / Self, and Intangibility!
April 9th, 2010: so it's the beginning of another Technoholic year today. But not just any year, oh no. This is the first day of Technohol 13: Year 13! Not that I have anything particularly special planned this time 'round, other than getting as much done as possible... but you know. Here's hoping I finally finish some projects this year!
But don't worry, I'm making good progress on that score. For instance, today I've completed a description of the very last fellow I need to close out the 1988 Gi Joe roster. He is Mangler, a Gi Joe who died during his 'final exam' to get onto the team, and had neither a toy nor cartoon experience. He was a comic book exclusive!
