Sure Fire Strength Agility Intellect Willpower 5d 7c 5d 6c Hand Size: 4 (25) Edge: 2 Known Powers: (none) Equipment: the Joe-Com (i) *: this is a new device given to all Joes since the group's reactivation. This high-tech wristband functions as an audio/video transceiver with an intensity 6 - 250 mile - range, is equipped with a G.P.S. system, a heart monitor, and can store up to a terabyte of raw data - not bad, eh? Of course, this device also stores a variety of nutrients it can use to supplement activity, which are absorbed directly into one's pores (think of this as intensity 1 life support, where food is concerned). So, not only is the thing a nice, high tech video phone, but it can also save one's life in a pinch! Non-Lethal Grenades (i): David carries two grenades on him at all times, strapped to his Kevlar vest. One is a concussion grenade, inflicting intensity 10 concussion damage on anyone within striking distance, the other being a tear gas canister, having an intensity 10 stunning effect on those who breathe in its fumes. It acts like a stunning attack, incapacitating those who are affected, but is resisted like a poison; in other words, if David hits a body (or group) with a canister of tear gas, and succeeds in a tear gas (strength) action against said foe(s), they will be forced to withdraw or be incapacitated with fits of coughing. Protective Gear (s): useful in military and police applications, this gear has saved David's life numerous times. It consists of a Kevlar vest and a composite material helmet, both of which provide him +2 protection versus attacks aimed at his torso and head (not counting face shots). Semi-Automatic Pistols (a): David carries two handguns with him while on duty, one holstered on his leg, the other on his Kevlar vest. Either of these guns can be fired to inflict damage per a +4 weapon in a single shot, or per a +5 weapon in a short, clip-expending burst of lead. Uzi 9mm (a): in addition to his twin handguns, David also carries a mini-Uzi hand cannon, which can function in a fully automatic capacity. It can be fired in a single shot to inflict damage per a +4 weapon in a single shot, +5 in a small spread, or +6 in a fully automatic hail of doom. * The Joe-Com is something that the Joes started using in their new (as of 2001) comic, but wasn't featured on the 2001 Sure Fire action figure. Hindrances: (none) Skills: Boxing (s): a part of his Karate-Do training, David has learned how to fight unarmed if he must - though he avoids doing so unless it is necessary. David can divide his pre-cardplay action score between two unarmed melee attacks, the last of which will occur as a contingent action. Espionage (i): having a keen eye for detail, David has developed his investigative abilities into a full-blown version of this skill. When investigating some crime or other activity, David should make actions required for him to notice clues or other small, yet vital details at a reduced difficulty level. Law Enforcement (w): having a long background in law enforcement, David naturally has this talent. Not only does it provide an origin for his other, non-military skills, it allows him to legally carry firearms at all times, as well as granting him the ability to make arrests. Marksmanship (a): a part of David's basic police training, reinforced by his enrollment in the F.B.I. and the U.S. Army, this skill describes his ability to use a gun in battle. Whether it be standard, semi-auto, or fully auto, David may do so at a reduced difficulty level. This is a master-level skill. Martial Arts (a): having become a black belt in Shoto-Kan Karate-Do on his sixteenth birthday, David is well-versed in various combative actions. He can use his Strength or Agility in unarmed combat (even when trumping), and can reduce the difficulty of actions meant to dodge attacks or reduce falling damage. Military / United States (w): while not initially military minded, David was recruited from the F.B.I. into the Joe team after he showed he could deal with Cobra operatives without backup. This skill describes his ability to understand military protocols and procedures, and allows him to lead fighting men into battle. Calling: Soldier: a perfect fit for this calling, David does pretty much everything out of his need to prove he's the best he can be. When he's not polishing up on his martial arts skills, marksmanship training, or intelligence reports, David is applying said skills to prove his worth to himself, if to no one else. Costume: David wears a policeman-like field uniform while on the job. It primarily consists of a subdued blue pair of trousers and a collared, long-sleeved shirt, complemented with a black leather belt, black leather boots and gloves, black holsters and equipment pouches, black knee pads, and his black kevlar vest. Personality: David has a seemingly single-minded devotion to self-improvement, and otherwise doing things right; he figures he may as well do something correctly if he's going to bother doing so in the first place. He's also very aware of the world around him, a trait that helps him immensely in criminal investigations. Real Name: David S. Lane, grade O-5 Occupation: C.I.D. operative, former F.B.I. agent, former L.A.P.D. officer Legal Status: citizen of the United States with no known criminal record Marital Status: single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: G.I. Joe, formerly the F.B.I., formerly the L.A.P.D. Height: 5' 10" Hair: brown Eyes: brown Weight: 165 lbs. Other Distinguishing Characteristics: none Story: David grew up in a hopelessly decrepit neighborhood in Los Angeles, one that if you didn't know better, you'd swear it was in some war zone or another. Nonetheless, David didn't let this bring him down, and instead of descending into crime like his neighbors, he focused on getting out of there. He didn't do this by running away, though - oh no. Instead, David bent all of his will on making something of himself, making himself the best possible person he could be. To this end, he joined a martial arts dojo, and by the time he was sixteen, he'd managed his first Karate-Do black belt. His martial training awakened a sort of responsibility in the fellow, and as such David wound up joining the Los Angeles Police Academy, naturally graduating with honors. He even managed to make a few marksmanship records while there, using his focus to get really, really good at his police duties. He was a beat cop for a short time, but eventually wound up in the F.B.I. - hoping to put a real dent in crime. Hooking up with their special investigations unit, he encountered the web of crime woven throughout the United States by Cobra, that ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world. Managing to put the kibosh on some of their operations due to his keen eye for details, as well as his obstinate hatred for all things criminal, David got the attention of the G.I. Joe team, who recruited him into their ranks. After he completed his Army training, David began busting Cobra ops - this time with the Joes!
