the Brawler II As the battle between G.I. Joe and Cobra heated up yet again, the Joes decided to pull yet another of their trusty old vehicles out of mothballs in the year 2002. This time, they reactivated and refurbished a small fleet of their old Hammers, modernizing their electronics and very look. For one thing, they gave 'em a new paint job; while the original Hammers were of a plain tan hue, the new ones, the so-called Brawler IIs, got a tan and green camouflage pattern. Furthermore, the Joes replaced the old pulse cannon with a new, heavy duty weapon. The Brawler II possesses these vehicular capabilities: Armored Construction (s): the Brawler II is built with a hardened, solid steel frame, a shrapnel-resistant passenger cover, and all-terrain, self-sealing tires; in other words, it's rather durable. This gives the Brawler II an effective material strength of 12, and offers its occupants +2 protection from attacks. As long as they originate from the front or rear; side-oriented attacks bypass this defense. Communications Array (i): equipped with a powerful U.H.F. / V.H.F. / C.C.T.V. radio transceiver, the Brawler II also has a rather potent whip antenna, allowing it a total communications range of 250 miles (intensity 6 range), and has a quasi-random frequency hopper to allow for intensity 8 comm encryption. Guided Missiles (i): on the back of the Brawler II are two separate, multi-directional missile pods with three rounds in each. These rear-mounted launchers can be fired from within the Brawler II or from the back if necessary. These heat-seeking projectiles inflict intensity 10 damage to whatever they hit. In addition to anything else within striking (near missile) range of where they detonate. Lightning Speed (a): being rather fast for its weight, the Brawler II has this vehicular 'power' after a fashion. Capable of moving at up to 83 miles per hour, the Brawler II has this ability at intensity 6, though in off-road conditions it may move considerably slower. Passengers: the Brawler II ideally has room for a driver, a gunner, and two passengers. However, it has two side skids that can hold four extra folks in a pinch - two on the side-mounted guns - and rear skids that can carry two additional hangers-on on the back, making for a ten passenger maximum. Quartz-Halogen Lamps: these twin lamps, mounted on front of the Brawler II, are powerful light casting implements capable of producing intensity 10 illumination. This helps to deal with night conditions, and can provide an improvised blinding attack under certain (surprise) conditions. Rotary Multi-Projectile Launcher (i): instead of the old Pulse Cannon, the Brawler II uses a six-round, rotary barrel missile launcher. These rounds have the same statistics as the missiles listed above, but can be fired three at a time for +1 damage, or all six can be fired for a total of +2 damage. Storage Compartment (s): the Brawler II has a rather large storage capacity in the back. The Brawler II itself has over a 2,000 pound load limit, allowing it to carry the driver, gunner, two passengers in the back seat, and up to six additional hangers-on, meaning that at least 500 lbs of gear can be held here. More, if less than ten folks are in/on the Brawler II. Twin-Barreled Side Guns (a): finally, on each side of the Brawler II are two swivel-mount, twin barreled guns that can be used as back-up for the vehicle's main gun. These can be fired to inflict damage per a +6 weapon in a short burst, +7 in a continuous stream of lead. * While it may not necessarily need pointing out, the Brawler II vehicle is a refurbished version of the 1990-issue Hammer vehicle, not the 1991-issue Brawler vehicle. This may generate some unnecessary confusion, and beg the question 'why not just call it the Hammer again?' But hey, the Joes are crafty that way.
