Equipment:
Communications Pack: since his primary role on the G.I. Joe team involves his acting as a R.T.O. for the group, Jack carries comm gear with him on all missions. This usually consists of a back-mounted radio with intensity 6 range - 250 miles - and intensity 12 signal encryption (a good back-up for his Joe-Com).
Grenades: Jack usually carries several of these on missions, whether they be of a fragmentary (physical damage), incendiary (energy damage), or even just tear gas (stunning effect). Regardless, all of these grenades work at intensity 10, and affect everybody within striking (near missile) distance of where they hit.
the Joe-Com*: this is a new device given to all Joes since the group's reactivation. This high-tech wristband functions as an audio/video transceiver with an intensity 6 - 250 mile - range, is equipped with a G.P.S. system, a heart monitor, and can store up to a terabyte of raw data - not bad, eh?
Of course, this device also stores a variety of nutrients it can use to supplement activity, which are absorbed directly into one's pores (think of this as intensity 1 life support, where food is concerned). So, not only is the thing a nice, high tech video phone, but it can also save one's life in a pinch!
Knife: Jack's usually got at least one blade on him during missions, most often contained in a boot sheath when not in use. This blade is built from m.s. 12 metals, can cut through materials of up to like m.s., and naturally allows Jack to inflict +2 damage in melee.
M-203 Machine Gun: this cool firearm is one that Jack picked up recently. It can fire a single shot to inflict +4 damage, a small burst for +5 damage, or a full-auto spread for +6 damage. It also has a built-in grenade launcher (per the one that he used to carry, listed above).
Rocket Launcher: Jack started occasionally carrying rocket launchers on him during missions in the nineties, a habit he irregularly pursues to this day. This one-shot rocket propelled grenade fires a handy, vehicle-busting projectile that inflict intensity 10 damage to all within striking (near missile) range of where it hits.
* The Joe-Com is something that the Joes started using in their new (as of 2001) comic, and hasn't been featured on a Dial-Tone action figure... yet. Of course, it's only a matter of time really, considering that Jack helped to invent the thing alongside Mainframe. It's a mere matter of having pride in your work!
Hindrances:
(none)
Skills:
Boxing: one talent that Jack picked up in his Army basic, this skill represents Jack's ability to defend himself should he be rendered weaponless. In unarmed melee, Jack may divide his pre-cardplay action score between two attacks, the last of which will occur as a contingent action.
Electronics: ever since he was a child, Jack has been taking electronic devices apart - and then putting them back together again (correctly). He's a whiz with all manner of electronic devices, and as such, can make actions when building, repairing, or modifying such things at a reduced difficulty level.
Marksmanship: a standard military talent, Jack mastered this skill in his basic training. Whenever he's wielding a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol, or even advanced, energy-based weapons, Jack may do so at one difficulty level lower than would otherwise be required.
Military / United States: though he joined the Army as a means to an end, Jack found that military service was an end unto itself. Both furthering his hobby and defending his nation at the same time, Jack is more than happy to hone his understanding of military protocols and procedures to a fine degree.
Calling:
Soldier: while his motives for enlisting were originally somewhat selfish, Jack has truly risen to the occasion once he became aware of just how important his job really is. As such, he has no problem fighting for his country, and will follow any rational order from his superiors in order to do so.
Costume:
Jack's sixth uniform is another variation on his original. It includes black trousers, deep green boots, deep green knee pads, a collared, Army green shirt under a deep green vest, a black beret, a black leather belt, black gloves, black webbing, and various black pouches and holsters to hold his gear.
Personality:
Jack enjoys his job as a radio operator as it allows him to engage in his hobby - playing with radios - while performing a worthwhile job. At first, he didn't quite seem at home as a member of the Joes, but Jack's quickly come into his own both on and off the field, and can definitely carry his own weight.
Real Name: Jack S. Morelli, grade E-4 (later E-6)
Occupation: radio telecommunications expert
Legal Status: citizen of the United States with no known criminal record
Marital Status: single
Alias(es), if any: none
Group Affiliation: G.I. Joe
Height: 5' 10"

Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Jack usually wears a moustache while on the job - though not always.
Story:
Jack has always enjoyed tinkering with electronic devices. In fact, he'd built his very first crystal set by the time he was ten, and had his very own ham radio station by the time he was sixteen. He even built his own equipment, doing so with money saved bagging groceries after school - he didn't just buy his toys off the shelf.
Jack truly loved his hobby, and figured the easiest way he could get more education in such matters was through the Army as a R.T.O. - free college, and all that. Once he had enlisted, though, Jack quickly found that the job he'd applied for as a means to an end was actually more satisfying, for it was a worth-while calling.
This caused Jack to both enjoy his job and what it meant, making him a highly efficient person at what he does. As such, when the G.I. Joe team had expanded to the extent that they required a radio man to supplement the already overworked Breaker, Jack found himself at the top of the list of potential candidates.
After he accepted the opportunity to take the G.I. Joe entrance exam - and managed to survive it - Jack was quickly put to work on the team. His very first mission saw him headed to Brazil on a team with Clutch, Recondo and Roadblock that saw them mixing it up with a gaggle of bona fide Nazis and some MOSSAD operatives.
After this Jack played an important role in most G.I. Joe operations, working with Breaker as the team's two communications experts; sure, there have been other Joes that are qualified communications guys like Airwave and Dee-Jay, but it seemed either or both of these guys would be attached to virtually every Joe mission in some manner.
Tends to keep you busy, that.
Over time, Jack grew more and more as a combatant, though; not content to sit under cover and call for back-up while his fellows were under fire, Jack has taken to blasting at his fair share of Cobra operatives over time. The first sign of this was his volunteering to test some experimental G.I. Joe sonic weaponry out.
He and a small team of Joes (Dodger, Law and Tunnel Rat) did so for a full year, after which time the quartet returned to regular G.I. Joe service - if there ever was such a thing. Jack resumed his communications duties, made that much more difficult after the death of Breaker in action during the battle of Benzheen.
Jack continued to serve on the Joe team until it was disbanded in '94, after which time he 'retired' to begin his inventing career in earnest. Over the course of several years, Jack developed and patented several new technologies that he had either sold the licenses to - or sold outright - and made a fortune for himself fast.
Some of these patents were, of course, licensed to the software company owned by Mainframe, and the two former Joes did quite a lot of lucrative business together. You can imagine their surprise when, after having gotten comfortable being rich techno-moguls, both were asked to join a new, leaner and meaner G.I. Joe team.
Readily accepting the offer, the two went to work right away at improving the tech level that the G.I. Joes operated on. The two jointly created the new 'Joe Com' wrist communication devices used by the team. While Mainframe was more overt in his Joe work, however, Jack tended to help keep things running more 'behind the scenes'.
Jack continued to serve in this capacity until this second Joe team was also deactivated.
It's not known what exactly Jack has decided to do with himself now that the G.I. Joe team has been shut down on him two times running, much less if he's got anything to do with the new, third incarnation of the group that has been assembled only a year after the second one 'went under' - though he's definitely not an active combatant.
Assuming he's in on the 'action' of this third G.I. Joe team, assembled by Joe 'G.I. Joe' Colton, it's most likely Jack is serving in either an advisory or administrative role, providing consultation, research, and/or equipment development services. And if not, well, the man's incredibly rich - so he can at least retire in style!
