Sideswipe Strength Agility Intellect Willpower 8d 5d 7d 6d Hand Size: 3 (17) Edge: 1 Known Powers: (none) Equipment: Comm Suite (i): Andrew always carries a communications suite with him on missions, in order to call in medical evacuations of wounded personnel. These systems, usually consisting of a backpack with a helmet-mounted mouthpiece, work with intensity 5 power (100 mile range). First-Aid Kit (i): his stock in trade, Andrew always carries a first aid kit with him on missions. His first aid gear consists of various medicines, antibiotics, drugs, sterilized medical tools, and even a small oxygen tank. He carries additional first aid gear in various pouches and such, as well. Flashlight (i): Andrew carries one of these with him in the field, usually mounted on his sled so he has both hands free for other purposes. He can use this oversized lamp to produce intensity 7 illumination in a given area, allowing him to pierce the night and find wounded soldiers with ease. Gravity Sled (i): this odd device is useful for delivering wounded personnel from the field of fire in a jiffy; sure, Andrew is strong enough to carry the wounded all by himself, but this allows him to maximize his effectiveness. It can hover along at intensity 2 speeds (60 m.p.h.). Grenade Pistol (i): curiously, Andrew carries a small, auto-feed grenade launcher with him on missions. It is most likely that this gun holds non-lethal rounds within, such as stun grenades or even emergency flares; either way, these rounds work with intensity 10 effectiveness. the Joe-Com (i) *: this is a new device given to all Joes since the group's reactivation. This high-tech wristband functions as an audio/video transceiver with an intensity 6 - 250 mile - range, is equipped with a G.P.S. system, a heart monitor, and can store up to a terabyte of raw data - not bad, eh? Of course, this device also stores a variety of nutrients it can use to supplement activity, which are absorbed directly into one's pores (think of this as intensity 1 life support, where food is concerned). So, not only is the thing a nice, high tech video phone, but it can also save one's life in a pinch! Knife (s): since you never know when you'll need to cut through something on a mission, Andrew always carries one of these blades with him on the job. Made from strength 12 metals, this tool can be used to cut through items of like m.s., and allows Andrew to inflict +2 damage in melee. Semi-Automatic Pistol (a): Andrew carries this weapon in a chest-mounted holster in the event that he must defend himself. This weapon can be fired to inflict damage per a +4 weapon with a single shot, or damage per a +5 weapon in a high-speed burst of ammunition. * The Joe-Com is something that the Joes started using in their new (as of 2001) comic, but wasn't featured on the 2002 Sideswipe action figure. Hindrances: (none) Skills: Boxing (s): a skill he most likely picked up during his Army basic training, this talent represents Andrew's ability to defend himself unarmed, should he need to. In unarmed melee, Andrew can divide his pre-cardplay action score between two attacks, the last of which will occur as a contingent action. First Aid (i): Andrew has been a field medic for many years. When treating a dying person, he can make use of a limited form of the Medicine skill, allowing him to restore one card worth of lost Health to a body who was k.o.'d in the last exchange with an average difficulty Intellect action. Marksmanship (a): when he enlisted in the Army, Andrew was trained in the use of most modern firearms. Whether he's carrying a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol, or even an oddball gun like his hand-held grenade launcher, Andrew may use said gun at a reduced difficulty level. Military / United States (w): though he didn't begin his adult career with the military in mind, Andrew eventually joined up in order to do his duty - and to help America's bravest. As such, he knows military protocols and procedures like the back of his hand, and can lead fighting men into battle if he must. Calling: Protector, with a secondary calling of Guardian: ever since he was a wee youth, Andrew has wanted to be some sort of medical professional, basically because he wanted to help people. Of course, having since joined the military, he now sees himself as the protector of the wounded... Costume: In the field, Andrew wears a dark gray pair of trousers, a brown pair of leather boots with black ankle guards, a red turtleneck sweater under a light gray jacket, black gloves, a black leather belt, and black webbing, pouches, holsters, and sheathes to hold various emergency and combat gear. Personality: Andrew always wanted to be some sort of medical practitioner, and worked hard to get his wish. He wants nothing other than to help his fellow man, particularly those brave soldiers that risk their lives daily in the fight for freedom. Of course, he doesn't mind mixing it up with the enemy himself, either... Real Name: Andrew Frankel, grade E-5a Occupation: medical specialist Legal Status: citizen of the United States with no known criminal record Marital Status: single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: G.I. Joe Height: 6' 1" Hair: light brown Eyes: brown Weight: 185 lbs. Other Distinguishing Characteristics: none Story: Andrew was a bright young kid who always wanted to be a doctor, or at least work in the medical field in some capacity. When he was a kid, he always pretended to be the medic during those classic neighborhood 'block wars', helping his fallen comrades get to safety and such. While the realm of offices and clinics didn't appeal to him, he never believed he would be reliving those childhood games as an adult - if in a much more realistic capacity. Of course, he joined the Army in order to take advantage of the G.I. Bill, and became a field medic in the service of his nation. Having worked out intensely since he was a teen, Andrew excels in pulling his fallen soldiers from the field of battle, and can even carry two at a time if necessary! His keen medical skills, as well as his great strength and willingness to fight his way to a wounded comrade, definitely got Andrew noticed. Before he knew it, he was scooped up by the G.I. Joe team. After he passed the fiercely difficult qualification exams, Andrew was a member of the world's greatest fighting force, and began to see more action on a weekly basis than most soldiers do in a lifetime - and he loved every minute of it! Now, Andrew's not an action junkie, but he does feel that he has a very important job as one of the Joe team's medics. As such, whenever he's in the field and trying to help a man who's down, he often breaks out new emergency medical techniques that he's dug up from who-knows-where... but they work. And that's what makes the guy such a great Joe...
