Sidetrack 2 F A S E R I P Res Pop Gd 10 Gd 10 Gd 10 Ex 20 Gd 10 Ex 20 Ex 20 Rm 30 Ty +5 Health: 50 Karma: 50 Origin: Like the rest of the G.I. Joe team (with few exceptions), John is a completely normal human, lacking ascendant powers of any stripe. He was never bitten by radioactive animals, doesn't possess beneficial mutations that would attract giant robots, and he definitely has no occult background. Known Powers: (none) Equipment: Grenades: John carries a bevy of grenades with him while on the job. His miniature arsenal includes fragmentary grenades (to inflict Edged Attack damage), tear gas grenades (to inflict Stunning damage), and incendiary grenades (to inflict SD Energy damage). These all work at Remarkable (30) rank. the Joe-Com *: this is a new device given to all Joes since the group's reactivation. This high-tech wristband functions as an audio/video transceiver with a Typical (6) - 250 mile - range, is equipped with a G.P.S. system, a heart monitor, and can store up to a terabyte of raw data - not bad, eh? Of course, this device also stores a variety of nutrients it can use to supplement activity, which are absorbed directly into one's pores (think of this as Feeble (2) life support, where food is concerned). So, not only is the thing a nice, high tech video phone, but it can also save one's life in a pinch! Knife: since he often needs to cut things in the field, John carries a knife on him at all times. These blades are made from Incredible (40) strength metals, can be used to cut through items of like material strength, and let John inflict Edged Attack damage in melee. Machine Gun: his primary martial implement, this two-handed hand cannon can be fired to lethal effect against most anything - human, machine, or whatever. It may fire a single shot to inflict Typical (6) Shooting damage, a short burst for +1 CS damage, or even a full-auto spread for +2 CS damage. This weapon has a 'scope mounted on top, allowing John a +1 CS to hit in ambush situations. Semi-Automatic Pistol: a handy back-up should his machine gun fail, John keeps this firearm holstered and ready... just in case. In combat, he can fire this weapon to inflict Typical (6) Shooting damage in a single shot, or Good (10) Shooting damage in a clip-exhausting hail of lead. * The Joe-Com is something that the Joes started using in their new (as of 2001) comic, but wasn't featured on the 2002 Sidetrack 2 action figure. Quirks: (none) Talents: Guns: a skill gained thanks to his Army basic training, this talent describes John's ability to fire most any firearm when necessary. Whether it be a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol, or even a shotgun, John may use a firearm at his Agy +1 CS. Martial Arts types B and C: while he was trained in basic self-defense techniques in the Army, John has wielded various fighting styles for years as a pro wrestler. He can make unarmed melee attacks, as well as attempt dodge, escape, and other wrestling maneuvers at a +1 CS to the applicable score. Military / United States: the ultimate source of all his non-wrestling skills, this talent acts as a handy 'background' element for John. It describes his instinctual understanding of military protocols and procedures, and offers him several additional military contacts. Sport / Pro Wrestling: before he joined the Army, John's primary occupation of choice was that of a pro wrestler. This sport (though some may argue it is not such) entails a high degree of acrobatics, coordination, acting ability, and of course more attitude than you can shake a stick at! Survival: one facet of John's ranger training is that he can scrounge up the food, water, and shelter required to survive in almost any climate. Having had specific training in arctic, jungle, and desert survival, he can get along just fine almost anywhere on earth - starting from scratch! Contacts: As a member of the elite G.I. Joe team, John is recognized as one of the best of the best in his line of work. As such, when he requires assistance on a mission, his fellow Joes are more than happy to lend it. Furthermore, John has several additional military and showbiz contacts. Costume: John's field uniform consists of a green pair of trousers, a green, short-sleeved shirt under a green and brown vest (that has black shoulder pads of a sort), a brown leather belt, brown leather boots, and various holsters, sheathes, and pouches to hold his gear and mission-based supplies. Personality: Loud, obnoxious, and overly patriotic, John is the kind of guy that would fit well in the pro wrestling circuit. He's full of bluster and bile, though in a likeable sort of way, and is one of the most belligerent people you're likely to meet. This would cause him problems if he weren't so good at what he does... Real Name: John Boyce, grade E-7 Occupation: ranger, former pro wrestler Legal Status: citizen of the United States with no known criminal record Marital Status: single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: G.I. Joe Height: 6' 1" Hair: light brown Eyes: brown Weight: 205 lbs. Other Distinguishing Characteristics: none Story: John is loud, headstrong, and opinionated. Of course, he's also strong, coordinated, and rather stubborn. This meant of course that the only job he was really fit for was that of a pro wrestler; sure, he could've gotten a normal job, but he'd drive his co-workers to tears in no time. The man worked the wrestling circuit for years, at least until he suddenly had an epiphany: why bother roughing up heavy duty thugs for the enjoyment of others, when he could trounce on real villains for his own, personal satisfaction? He joined the Army almost immediately after this brainstorm. Dead-set on making a military career, he blustered his way through Army basic, and did so well that he qualified for the Army's Ranger School. It took him a little while, but the man succeeded in this as well, and found that working with the nation's elite soldiers was much more fulfilling than his last job. Sure, there was no crowd to cheer him on when he's at work, but at least he felt like he was doing something important. This feeling was only enhanced further when he was offered a position on the G.I. Joe team; John was more than happy to sign on with the best this nation's military had to offer. So now, instead of pinning his co-workers to the mat on national television, John is bludgeoning Cobras into submission every chance he gets. In fact, he tends to wade into combat with seemingly reckless abandon, as he's grown to love the sheer mayhem that a firefight provides!
