Joe team, Daniel is in fact a normal human, lacking ascendant powers of any stripe. Of course, the man is highly skilled in several fields of expertise, and tends to come off as a veritable demon when hacking his way through the jungle. Known Powers: (none) Equipment: Grenades: Daniel's always got at least one grenade on his person while 'on the job', helping him to blow up heavy opposition (such as vehicles) that gets in his way. These explosive devices can be thrown to inflict Remarkable (30) Edged Attack (fragmentary) damage to all within one area. the Joe-Com *: this is a new device given to all Joes since the group's reactivation. This high-tech wristband functions as an audio/video transceiver with a Typical (6) - 250 mile - range, is equipped with a G.P.S. system, a heart monitor, and can store up to a terabyte of raw data - not bad, eh? Of course, this device also stores a variety of nutrients it can use to supplement activity, which are absorbed directly into one's pores (think of this as Feeble (2) life support, where food is concerned). So, not only is the thing a nice, high tech video phone, but it can also save one's life in a pinch! Knife: essential for navigating deep in the jungle, especially under multiple canopies, Daniel carries a long machete with him on missions. Made from Incredible (40) m.s. metals, he can cut through items of up to like m.s., and he can also use it to cause Edged Attack damage in melee. Pistol: a backup for his rifle, this handy sidearm helps Daniel to keep himself alive should he find himself without his main piece. He can fire this one-handed weapon to inflict Typical (6) Shooting damage with a single shot, or Good (10) Shooting damage in a semi-auto burst of lead. Pistol-Grip Shotgun: a newer addition to his arsenal, Daniel has begun to carry this weapon of late, a military assault shotgun with a pistol grip. In battle, this weapon can be used to inflict Excellent (20) Shooting damage per blast, and can fire two rounds before a reload is required. Rifle: Daniel has wielded various rifles over the years, some with a scope (+1 CS to hit in ambushes) and some without. Either way, he can fire one of these to inflict Good (10) Shooting damage in a short burst of lead, or Excellent (20) Shooting damage in a full-auto spread. Survival Gear: helpful when dealing with extended forays into the jungle, this collection of gear assists Daniel on missions by keeping him from having to scrounge for supplies from the ground up. It includes handy cooking, camping and navigation gear, along with water and emergency rations. * The Joe-Com is something that the Joes started using in their new (as of 2001) comic, but wasn't featured on the 2003 Recondo action figure. Quirks: (none) Talents: Detective / Espionage: his secondary military specialty, this talent describes Daniel's ability to collect information. Whether just digging around for information, or engaging in 'black op' style surveillance and dirty tricks, Daniel may make applicable FEAT rolls at a +1 CS. Guns: as a part of his basic military training, Daniel has been taught how to fire most basic military weapons. Whether he's wielding a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol - or even esoteric weapons like shotguns - he does so as though his Agility was +1 CS in rank. Martial Arts type B: while he does prefer to utilize guns (or his Tiger Fly) in combat, Daniel has nonetheless been trained in the use of unarmed fighting techniques - just in case. As such, the man can attempt any unarmed melee attack as though his Fighting score was +1 CS in rank. Military / United States: serving as a handy origin for his many skills, this talent represents most of the ability granted by Daniel's basic training. This talent imparts unto him an almost instinctual understanding of military protocols and procedures, and the ability to effectively lead fighting men into battle. Pilot / Air: having flown various aircraft since he was a teenager, Daniel figured it was a natural for him to get enhanced training once he enlisted in the armed forces. As such, he can fly most helicopters or fixed-wing aircraft with ease, doing so at his Agy score +1 CS. Survival: his primary military specialty, Daniel is well trained in the fine art of survival. The man can get by in just about any environment, though he naturally prefers the jungle. Daniel, if dropped off almost anywhere, can scrounge up enough food, water and shelter to survive almost indefinitely. Contacts: Daniel is a long-standing member of the G.I. Joe team, having been their jungle expert for over a decade. As such, he can naturally rely on them for assistance should he need it, especially since things normally go the other way. He also has several additional contacts in military and intelligence circles. Costume: After the reformation of the Joe team, Daniel donned a new uniform altogether. It has brown and green camo-patterned pants, a collared, long sleeved khakis-colored shirt over a green T-shirt and under a gray vest, brown leather boots and gloves, and green belts to hold his gear (and his pants). Personality: Daniel is a very calm, collected sort. Of course, he's only truly comfortable when he's hip-deep in some sort of thick jungle or another - he still comes across as smooth even when he's somewhere else, however. There's no doubting that the man is very good at what he does - and he usually does a lot with the Joes! Real Name: Daniel M. LeClaire, grade E-4 Occupation: G.I. Joe jungle trooper, helicopter pilot, intelligence operative Legal Status: citizen of the United States with no known criminal record Marital Status: single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: G.I. Joe Height: 6' Hair: light brown Eyes: blue Weight: 170 lbs. Other Distinguishing Characteristics: none. Story: Daniel grew up in rustic Wheaton, Wisconsin, where he developed a distinct distaste for the cold. As a child, he dreamed of rummaging about in the darkest African jungles, as it was infinitely preferable to Wisconsin's rather... intense winters. Three feet of bush versus three feet of snow, you see. By the time Daniel turned seventeen, he'd flown various helicopters and airplanes, hoping that such a skill would serve as a springboard to travel just about anywhere else. This plan ultimately worked, as the Army is always looking for a few good pilots - and Daniel readily enlisted when he got the chance. Once he was through Basic, Daniel went through all kinds of advanced training. By the time he was done, Daniel was an expert helicopter pilot, intelligence operative, and (his favorite) jungle warfare trooper. Though he enjoyed the first two, Daniel truly loves his third job description, and spends all his time there. After a few years, Daniel had assumed the nickname 'Recondo', and his years of distinguished service got him noticed by people looking for the best of the best in the various armed forces. These people felt that Daniel would be a perfect addition to the G.I. Joe team, and subsequently recruited him. After he joined the Joes, Daniel was immediately put to work on a special mission, one to rescue Doctor Burkhart from Cobra forces. The doctor, rescued by the Joes on one of their very first ops, was again captured by Cobra forces, and transported to a fortress in the jungles of Sierra Gordo. After this mission, Daniel served the Joe team intermittently over the years; he was actually on constant duty, but most of the Joes never saw him since he was doing deep-cover work in various jungles - or in the midst of some other incredibly long-range missions that occupied his time. Of course, the Joes did manage to see a whole lot of Daniel when he was brought into the Joe team's elite Tiger Force, a special unit designed to wield old Joe (or captured Cobra) gear against various terrorist threats. He was their helicopter pilot for the duration of Tiger Force's active phase. Though good at what he does, Daniel was never much on socializing; he didn't make a lot of close friends on the Joe team; not that he was rude or anything, the man was just really quiet. Of course, he couldn't help but become good pals with Sparks over time, since the two were both avid readers. After the G.I. Joe team was disbanded for a time, Daniel went to work in a different fashion, breaking up black market ivory trading rings and other poaching operations. As things turned out, though, the G.I. Joe team wasn't gone for good, and when it was reassembled Daniel readily agreed to serve again! And he did, for several years, until the second defeat of Cobra in 2005. Once the G.I. Joe team had resolved the Cobra mess, and defeated the so-called Red Shadows as well, the government decided to repurpose the team again. Though they were publicly shut down, the team persists as a small anti-terrorist force. Not chosen to be on the active roster, Daniel returned to his work against poachers. In this capacity he was tracked down while staying with the Tucaros, a group native to Sierra Gordo and surrounding environs that he'd befriended in the past, by none other than the nefarious Major Bludd - who wanted him dead! The two had quite a fight, but in the end Bludd had won, and believed Daniel to be killed as a result. Wounded but not dead, Daniel allowed people to believe this state of being to be the truth, even after his old friend Sparks came looking for him after the Joe team caught wind of Bludd's actions against the team. Of course, Daniel let his friend know what he was up to after he returned to the states, even if he implored him to let the team think he was down for the count. This was, of course, in order to let him complete his work unhindered. And to possibly allow him a bit of time to score some payback...!
