Origin:

As are almost all of his teammates, save for one or two weird exceptions, Wallace is a normal human, lacking ascendant powers of any stripe. No mystic origins, psionic mysteries, or even deific interference spurred Wallace on to greatness; no, he simply does what he can with his natural abilities.

Known Powers:

(none)

Equipment:

Explosives:
helpful for destroying enemy structures and vehicles on missions, these C-4 plastic explosives pack quite a punch. They can be set to inflict up to Incredible (40) Edged Attack damage per blast (depending on how much is used), and can cause considerable damage if set in the right location.

H.A.L.O. Gear: essential for jumping from airplanes into enemy territory, Wallace always has this gear with him on missions, even if he has to dispose of it once he touches down. It includes two parachutes (one main 'chute, one spare), a breathing mask, and a shovel to bury this stuff when necessary.

Helmet: a useful battlefield accessory, this headgear helps to increase Wallace's mission survivability considerably. In essence, it offers him Good (10) protection from head shots, assuming they don't strike him in the face; hey, at least it protects his brains from bullet wounds...

the Joe-Com *: this is a new device given to all Joes since the group's reactivation. This high-tech wristband functions as an audio/video transceiver with a Typical (6) - 250 mile - range, is equipped with a G.P.S. system, a heart monitor, and can store up to a terabyte of raw data - not bad, eh?

Of course, this device also stores a variety of nutrients it can use to supplement activity, which are absorbed directly into one's pores (think of this as Feeble (2) life support, where food is concerned). So, not only is the thing a nice, high tech video phone, but it can also save one's life in a pinch!

Knife: in the event that he's got to cut something (or somebody) in a fight, Wallace carries this useful utility blade, secreted on his person. Made from Incredible (40) m.s. metals, it can be used to cut through items of like m.s., and allows him to inflict Edged Attack damage in melee.

Rifle: his primary combat weapon, at least when he's not blowing things up or knifing folks from behind, Wallace always carries one of these on missions. He can fire this weapon to inflict Good (10) Shooting damage in a short burst, or Excellent (20) Shooting damage in a full-auto spread.

Semi-Automatic Pistol: a backup for his rifle, in case he should need such, Wallace carries one of these pieces on him at all times. He can fire this one-handed firearm to inflict Typical (6) Shooting damage in a single shot, or Good (10) Shooting damage in a clip-expending burst of leaden doom.

Spy Troops Disguise: shortly after resuming his membership in the G.I. Joe team, Wallace was given a special disguise that he could use on missions where he would be dropped into Cobra territory. Wallace's Spy Troops disguise allows him to pose as Copperhead, one of Cobra's aquatic operatives.

* The Joe-Com is something that the Joes started using in their new (as of 2001) comic, but wasn't featured on the 2003 Rip Cord / HALO Jumper action figure.

Quirks:

Talents:

Aerial Combat:
Wallace's claim to fame, this skill represents his ability to effectively battle the forces of evil in the air, usually while parachuting in on a foe from above. While fighting in the air, Wallace gains a +1 CS to any combat FEAT that he must roll, whether it be based on his Ftg or Agy score.

Demolitions: his secondary military specialty, this talent represents Wallace's job once he gets down to the ground after a jump into hostile territory. When attempting to blow a person, place or thing to bits, Wallace should receive a +1 CS to any applicable FEAT roll required.

Guns: one skill he picked up in Army basic, this talent describes Wallace's mastery of most ordinary firearms. Whether he's using a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol (or even oddball guns like a shotgun), Wallace may do so as though his Agy score was +1 CS in rank.

Martial Arts type B: a part of his essential, basic Army training, Wallace has learned how to defend himself if he should find himself totally unarmed. In weaponless melee, Wallace may attempt any punch, kick, head butt, knee smash, or anything else as though his Ftg score was +1 CS in rank.

Military / United States: serving as a handy origin for many of his skills, this talent represents most of the ability granted by Wallace's basic training. This talent imparts unto him an almost instinctual understanding of military protocols and procedures, and allows for several additional military contacts.

Contacts:

As a long-standing member of the G.I. Joe team, Wallace can consider his teammates reliable contacts, even if he tends to be the one getting them into trouble now and then. He has also started his own business lately, and can consider most of his employees contacts as well.

Costume:

Wallace's second uniform includes green trousers with blue padding in places, brown boots with extra blue padding on the ankles, a green jacket over a green T-shirt with brown shoulder pads, green boots with blue padding, blue webbing for his gear, and a green helmet with blue goggles strapped on top.

Now, his Spy Troops disguise includes a green and yellow helmet, a green vest, and various other accessories that allow him to pose as Copperhead, one of Cobra's water moccasin pilots. Most people don't pay attention to Copperhead much, so this disguise is perfect for spy work...!

Personality:

Wallace is a young and spirited sort, not quite worn down by the woes of the world as several of his teammates are - despite how horribly his romance with Candy ended. He's a very driven man, and has been known to go to extreme lengths - even disobeying orders - to help his friends.

Story:

Wallace has always enjoyed flying, and joined the Civil Air Patrol while he was still in high school. Of course, while there he discovered the joy of skydiving, and wanted to do it as much as possible. Naturally, joining the Army was a quick means of doing so - those guys are always jumping out of airplanes.

If you believe their commercials, at least. Anyway, Wallace worked his way through various Army schools and ultimately wound up becoming a H.A.L.O. (High Altitude Low Opening) jumper for the Airborne Infantry. After a short time of excellent service, Wallace was offered a position on the G.I. Joe team.

This because the team was going through growing pains, and most of the original members were given desk jobs so the force could administer itself (as opposed to relying on outside help). Since it needed a bunch of new folks, Wallace was one of several who was recruited at this time.

One of his very first encounters with Cobra operatives happened not while on a mission, but when he took his pal Spirit to a mall nearby the Pit to cheer him up. Spirit had been hurt somewhat while on a mission to protect Snake-Eyes in the High Sierras, and was somewhat out of sorts as a result.

While there, Spirit saw a dead man - Fred, one of Cobra's Crimson Guardsmen, who he personally buried on that mission in the Sierras. Confronting the man, who turned out to be Fred II, Spirit got clocked in the head by the original's wife, who was carrying a purse full of hand grenades!

Telling Wallace and Blowtorch (who'd accompanied him for the ride) what was up the trio pursued, but the Cobra agents then blew up their V.A.M.P. with that purse of hand grenades, and took off. Trying to keep up with the jerks, Wallace and his fellows borrowed a van from 'Bongo the Balloon Bear' to do so.

One bizarre car chase later, the Joes lost this strange Crimson Guardsman, but Wallace had made a new friend in the form of Bongo, who was actually one Candy Appel. The two started dating for a time, but their relationship ended when Candy's life was put in jeopardy during a subsequent Cobra mess.

Things went from bad to worse here, when Candy was taken hostage by Buzzer during his escape from the Pit. Candy was being held by the Joes for questioning, you see, after it turned out that her father was a high-ranking Crimson Guardsman himself - in fact, it was his plan that created Cobra Island!

Shortly after escaping Buzzer, Candy got herself killed along with Snake-Eyes' former ninja instructor, the Soft Master, when the duo (along with Billy, Cobra Commander's son) were trying to get out of Springfield - Cobra's main U.S. headquarters. Wallace didn't know about this at the time, though.

When she vanished with Buzzer, he assumed that she made her way to the newly formed Cobra Island. Soon after, when he was assigned to a reconnaissance mission with Ace, Wallace punched out and went looking for Candy on Cobra Island proper, despite specific orders from Hawk to stay clear of the place.

Upon landing, things went awry when Wallace was spotted by Zartan. This 'zen cosmic biker ninja' then proceeded to fight it out with Wallace on a deserted Cobra Island beach, and ultimately defeated him. Taking his appearance, Zartan then let himself be 'rescued' by a Joe commando team.

Ever the comedian, though, Zartan dressed Wallace up as himself, and the Joe was found by Cobra forces soon after. Taking him to the Terror Drome, they left him to Professor Appel's tender mercies. This fellow quickly saw through Wallace's 'disguise', when he realized Wallace was the Joe dating his daughter.

Not knowing himself where his daughter was, Appel then loaded Wallace into a Firebat, and had it fly on autopilot to Springfield - but not before Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow arrived. They were looking to kill Zartan, see, and as far as they could tell, the man was right in front of them.

They went for him, but Appel got in the way, hoping to buy Wallace time to escape and save his daughter... though it cost him his life. Soon enough, though, Wallace arrived in Springfield, and the Dreadnoks (thinking him their boss) took him to a local hospital since he was in terrible shape.

When he woke up, Wallace went nuts, attacking Buzzer and screaming 'I want my Candy!' Thinking him delirious, the Dreadnoks drugged him up and stole him away in an ambulance so Cobra wouldn't think he was batty - and fire him. Naturally, this would take the Dreadnoks with him, you see.

When he woke up, Wallace decided to continue this charade, since nobody seemed to figure out that he was a Joe, and convinced the Dreadnoks to take him back to Springfield. There, Wallace phoned the location of the place in to Breaker, who then told the other Joes what Wallace was up to.

This caused Wallace to be detected by a Tele-Viper, who had Firefly and the 'Noks bust him up good. They subsequently hooked him up to Doctor Mindbender's Brain-Wave Scanner - while it was still absorbing information to form his greatest creation, Serpentor - and peeked into his head.

Realizing that the Joes knew where they were, the collective population took off, leaving a small force (led by the freshly awakened Serpentor) to cover their rear. When the Joes arrived, they found Wallace still strapped into the Scanner, and quickly beat feet - the place was wired to explode, after all.

Getting him back to the Pit, since he was in no shape to keep fighting, the Joes nonetheless took serious flak for blowing up an entire town... and having nothing Cobra-ish to show for it. After this mess, Wallace sort of faded into Joe obscurity, though he did participate in a few missions here and there.

When the team was disbanded in '94, Wallace took a break from the fighting life, and founded his own skydiving center in his native town of Columbus, Ohio. When the Joes got back together recently, Wallace didn't come back right away, but did eventually make it back in 2003, alongside ol' Airborne.

The two served as dual H.A.L.O. specialists for the team, and even wore the same basic uniform. Wallace himself wound up participating on several special missions headed by Duke, one of which saw his team getting chewed up pretty badly - and all so Duke could pull a fast one on Destro and his goons.

This didn't sit well with Wallace, and he told the man so quite bluntly once they'd all gotten back to base. His confidence in Duke's leadership shattered of late, it's not certain just what Wallace is going to do with the team these days, and he's not on the 'active' roster in its third incarnation as of yet.

Whether he'll return to the fold has yet to be revealed.
