Equipment:

AK-47 Assault Rifle (v2):
a recent addition to Shana's arsenal includes this world-standard in leaden punishment. She can fire this weapon to inflict +4 damage in a single shot, +5 damage in a short burst, or +6 damage in a deadly, full-auto hail of lead.

Fragmentary Grenades: Shana always has at least one of these handy, should she find herself needing to blow something up while 'on the job'. These powerful explosives can detonate to inflict intensity 10 damage to everybody within striking (near missile) distance of their detonation.

the Joe-Com (v1) *: this is a new device given to all Joes since the group's reactivation. This high-tech wristband functions as an audio/video transceiver with an intensity 6 - 250 mile - range, is equipped with a G.P.S. system, a heart monitor, and can store up to a terabyte of raw data - not bad, eh?

Of course, this device also stores a variety of nutrients it can use to supplement activity, which are absorbed directly into one's pores (think of this as intensity 1 life support, where food is concerned). So, not only is the thing a nice, high tech video phone, but it can also save one's life in a pinch!

Knife: throughout her career as a Joe, Shana has always carried at least one blade on her person, often of the throwing variety. In combat, she use such items as +2 weapons, whether she's using them in melee or throwing them at a target within striking (near missile) range.

Pistols: Shana often has several pistols on her person while on the job. When fired, treat these semi-auto devices as +4 weapons if using a single shot, +5 in a semi-automatic burst of ammunition. She also carries a two shot pistol (not semi-auto) hidden in her right glove, which inflicts like damage.

Shuriken: Shana's left glove often has several shuriken strapped onto them, to be used when stealth is vital - or ammunition is totally depleted. She can fling these items at an opponent as though they were +2 weapons, but must recover a given star before she can use it again; she has to replace them often.

Swords: Shana started carrying swords with her when she joined G.I. Joe's Ninja Force, and occasionally does so without them. These blades, each of at least material strength 12, can be used as +4 weapons in Shana's hands, making them exceptionally lethal tools.

XK-1 Crossbow: her trademark weapon as a G.I.Joe operative, Shana has menaced untold numbers of Cobra operatives with this bolt-thrower. Shana can fire this weapon as though it were a +3 implement of destruction, and can do so one or two handed - the former inflicts a -4 penalty to hit.

* The Joe-Com is something that the Joes started using in their new (as of 2001) comic, and was featured on the first 2004 Scarlett action figure - but not the second or third.

Hindrances:

(none)

Skills:

Archery:
though already skilled in a large array of weaponry, Shana is truly a master of the crossbow. She can wield one in battle (or when simply showboating) at one difficulty level lower than is normally necessary, or simply fire one one-handed with no penalty.

Boxing: part of Shana's martial arts training has involved her learning how to strike hard - and fast! In unarmed melee, she can divide her pre-cardplay action score between two attacks, the last of which will occur as a contingent action.

Espionage: a large portion of Shana's military training involved her attending Covert Ops school, giving her an edge on the shady missions she tends to be involved with. In matters of investigation, surveillance, or information gathering, Shana makes related actions at a reduced difficulty level.

Flinging: Shana is quite good at wielding melee weapons in battle. However, should she need to, she can also use most of them at a respectable range, flinging them at opponents with deadly skill; Shana reduces the inherent difficulty of such actions by one level when using weapons designed to be thrown.

Knives: though she can use swords, Shana typically prefers to use smaller blades should the need arise. She can wield any short blade not already covered by her other skills at one difficulty level lower than is usually required, and does so with practiced ease.

Law: before joining the military proper, Shana went to college to become a lawyer - and managed to pass the bar easily. At the time finding comfort in a rigid interpretation of the law, Shana can easily demonstrate her prowess in legal matters, gaining a reduced difficulty in applicable Intellect actions.

Law Enforcement: after being chosen as a potential candidate for the G.I. Joe team, General Austin arranged for Shana to get expert training in a variety of places, one of which was the F.B.I. A fully trained and authorized federal law enforcement agent, Shana can legitimately wield such authority when necessary.

Marksmanship: another portion of Shana's military training saw her attending the Marine Sniper School, giving her an advanced understanding of projectile weapon use. When wielding a regular, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or handgun, Shana does so at one difficulty level lower than is usually required.

Martial Arts: a trained martial artists, Shana can put her natural dexterity to use in a scrap. This skill allows her to resolve unarmed melee attacks with either her Strength or Agility (including trumping), and she can reduce the difficulty of actions meant to catch thrown objects or reduce falling damage.

Martial Arts Weapons: Shana's martial arts training has given her an understanding of the use of a large array of deadly, yet obscure weaponry. When wielding shuriken, crossbows, katanas, kris, sais, or even nunchaku, Shana may do so at one difficulty level lower than is usually required.

Military / United States: having spent most of her working years in the Army, Shana can be considered adept in the ways of the American military. She understands military protocols and procedures like the back of her hand, and can lead a body of fighting men (or women) if necessary.

Survival: no matter where she is, or how difficult the conditions surrounding her are, Shana has been trained to scrounge up the food, water, and shelter necessary to keep her alive. Neither the deepest arctic reaches, steamiest jungles, or nastiest urban jungles can bring Shana down!

Swords: though trained in their use, Shana never made use of these weapons until her Ninja Force days. At any rate, she can use swords to attack at one difficulty level lower than is usually required, and if she doesn't attack, she can parry with her blades, adding her sword's damage bonus to her dodge results.

Calling:

Soldier,
with a secondary calling of Mentor: Shana fights the good fight because she feels that it is her duty to protect her nation from the forces of evil that wish to tear it apart - either from within or without. When not on missions, however, she's often training other Joes or civilians in the martial arts.

Costume:

Shana's sixth G.I. Joe uniform is a multi-layered bodysuit, with bits of the gray under-suit exposed to complement the green outer layer. This outfit is held together with various yellow-orange straps and belts, and includes green and black boots, black and gray gloves, and brown knee and shoulder pads.

Her seventh G.I. Joe costume is essentially a variation on the sixth. It is a multi-layered bodysuit, with bits of the gray under-suit exposed to complement the black outer layer. It's held together with black and gold straps and belts, and includes black and white gloves, black and blue boots, and red knee and shoulder pads.

Shana's eighth G.I. Joe uniform is another variation on her sixth. It's a multi-layered bodysuit, with bits of the light green under-suit exposed to complement the 'desert' camo patterened brown outer layer. It's held together with various brown belts and straps, and includes two-tone green gloves, brown and green boots, and brown shoulder and knee pads.

Personality:

Shana is one of the single most self-confident and durable people you'll ever meet. Her years as a martial arts instructor and a G.I.Joe member may suggest this, of course, but it shows in every aspect of her personality. Despite this, however, she does have quite a good sense of humor.

Able to take a joke better than most, Shana is also quite a caring individual, and will do anything she has to in order to protect her friends, family, and other loved ones. However, those who've crossed her know this already; some villainous sorts endangering her friends have lived to regret it...

Story:

Shana has been trained in the martial arts since she was nine years old, an idea put forth by her father to train all of his children in such a fashion, to give them the inner strength his own martial education did as a child. Shana took to her training with ease, and became very, very good at it - she won many martial arts competitions, and attained her first black belt at the age of 15.

The source of friction between Shana and her father, despite her amazing achievements, was her inherent need to control every aspect of her life; he was trying to teach Shana to roll with the punches the world threw at her - a lesson that didn't take. This was only made worse when a tragic car accident crippled Shana's father, a fate he was able to accept but Shana refused to deal with.

As such, Shana caved in to her mother's wish that she would engage in more 'lady like' behavior after graduating high school, and went to law school. Graduating at the top of her class in pre-law, Shana then went on to easily pass the bar with her rigid, literal interpretation of the law. However, legal loopholes and a plethora of gray areas in the law rankled Shana's need to make the changes she felt she should.

Leaving her new life as a lawyer, Shana instead enlisted in the Army - and quickly thrived in the regimented environment. She excelled in every possible fashion, leading the pack in her Basic training at Ft. Jackson, her Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Huachuca, and her Airborne school at Ft. Benning. She truly began to shine when put into the field in a Tactical Human Intelligence team, however.

When things went sour in a supposedly friendly desert nation, Shana was faced with her worst fear - logic told her to do what she was told, but her gut feeling, her instincts, were telling her to disobey what her commanding officer was telling her, and to save the lives of two of her wounded fellows. Finally letting go, Shana simply rolled with her feelings and handily rescued her fellow soldiers.

This incident gained Shana the personal attention of one General Flagg, who was then assembling a team of the Army's absolute best-of-the-best to serve as an elite, covert unit: Special Counter-Terrorist Unit Delta, otherwise to be known as the G.I. Joe team. After describing her profile to his own superior, General Austin, Flagg was given the go ahead to get Shana all the additional training she'd need.

Pulling some strings, Austin got Shana into the F.B.I. academy in Quantico, and soon enough Shana would find herself a fully authorized F.B.I. agent. Additional training she received while in Quantico was in the Marine Sniper School, not to mention some additional training with the British Special Air Service, and while working with the F.B.I. Shana picked up - and became an expert with - her trademark crossbow.

Once she was ready, Shana was sent on a covert mission to 'prove' her mettle in Ireland, where she was to root out the source of a mysterious, highly advanced weapon shipment that was uncovered in San Diego alongside Connor Murphy, a former I.R.A. informant. Though this mission went badly, Shana had discovered the existence of the corrupt arms dealer, Destro - but her fellow agent was killed in the field.

After this, Shana was formally offered a position on the G.I. Joe team, which she accepted after a bit of soul searching; her father was hoping she'd found a martial arts school, but fate had pulled her a different direction. She quickly proved to be one of the most dangerous members of the G.I. Joe team, right behind the enigmatic Snake-Eyes himself - who Shana first met shortly after joining the team proper.

Intrigued by his cool mystique, she simply had to get to know the man after he threw a fight with her during a training bout for all the first Joes. Getting to know each other, the two began a serious relationship that has endured through the years, through thick and thin. In fact, it was on one of the Joes' first missions that Snake-Eyes got himself all burnt up - he was trying to save Shana's life!

While she has gotten on rather well with the man, the two having shared secrets they've revealed to no one else during their relationship, Shana has had a few problems with other Joes in the past. For a good long time, she was involved in a sort of hate-hate work relationship with the one and only Clutch, and had exceptional difficulties in relating to Lady Jaye for the longest time.

However, these differences were eventually resolved, one way or the other, and Shana has served during the vast majority of the Joes' major operations, including the battle of Springfield and the battle of Millville, the latter having seen her directly confront the diabolical robotic menace known as Megatron; of course, it was a rather short fight, and Shana narrowly avoided being stomped into a paste.

In fact, Shana has become rather good friends with Lady Jaye, often having gone on 'double date' vacations with their respective boyfriends (Snake-Eyes and Flint). However, the seemingly eternal battle that the G.I.Joe team has waged with the terrorist organization / state known as Cobra eventually ended for a time, and when the Joe team was disbanded, Shana retired from the military.

She moved on with Snake-Eyes after this, the couple spending years healing their strained relationship; when Snake-Eyes abandoned their would-be wedding at the last minute, though, Shana became a martial arts / self defense instructor in seminars nationwide. However, when Hawk finally got the okay to restore the Joe team to full operational status, Shana was one of the first of the Joes to sign back up.

Shana is a Joe to this very day, helping to battle the forces and tyranny that threaten freedom on a global scale!
