Gi Joe: 1985 Personnel and Equipment

Personnel:

Airtight: a merciless practical joker and general fan of the obscure and bizarre, Kurt is also the Gi Joe expert on nuclear, biological and chemical weapons - whenever Cobra breaks out the dirty tricks, he's the first to wade in after them to put a stop to such tactics! Airtight comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Alpine: though he was a perfectly good accountant, having a decent job with prospects, Albert wanted more out of life. As such, he joined the Army in order to use his hobby, mountain climbing, in order to help his country - which he does as a mountain trooper! Alpine comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Barbecue: thrill-seeker and all around party animal, Gabriel became a fire fighter for the sheer fun of it - not to mention the ability to chop things down with an axe on the job. The only dedicated fire fighter on the Gi Joe team, he tends to be placed on missions with the flamethrower experts... Barbecue comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Bazooka: a former tank jockey until his sudden epiphany about untrained yahoos immobilizing million dollar hardware with two hundred dollar handheld rockets, Bazooka instead became a missile specialist himself. Now a highly trained yahoo, he excels in destroying enemy vehicles for the Gi Joe team! Bazooka comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Crankcase: growing up in Lawrence, Kansas, Crankcase developed a love of cars as a means of getting away. He was building engines by the time he was thirteen, and racing just a few years later. The man is usually a grumpy cuss unless he's driving something - anything - at its top speed. Crankcase comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Dusty: born and bred in dry, dusty Las Vegas, Ronald grew up surrounded by the desert - and found it to be his best friend by the time he was in high school. As such he made for a great desert specialist, a vital skill the Joes need, since Cobra frequently works in desert climes... Dusty comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Flint: joining the Army for the promise of adventure after he grew bored with the 'Groves of Academe', Dashiell used his innate smarts to excel in various areas of military expertise, and was recruited onto the Gi Joe team by an old acquaintance of his, the one and only Duke! Flint comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Footloose: former eagle scout, former valedictorian and track star in high school, and a former physical education major in college, Footloose dropped out when he had an existential crisis. He eventually resurfaced years later, having enlisted in the Army in order to find purpose - and he has! Footloose comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Frostbite: born in crisp, cool Galena, Alaska, Frostbite grew up dealing with the dread of winter on a daily basis. This taught him how to easily do his job under such conditions, no matter what it may be, which has helped him as both an Alaskan Pipeline techie and a Joe operative! Frostbite comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Heavy Metal: formerly wanting nothing more than to use the Army as an end to achieve his goal of becoming a CPA, Heavy Metal was forever changed upon seeing his first tank convoy in motion, and has needed the rush of driving a several ton implement of devastation ever since! Heavy Metal comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Keel-Haul: commander of the U.S.S. Flagg and an accomplished fighter pilot in his own right, Vice-Admiral Everett P. Colby is an impressive - and high ranking - addition to the Gi Joe team. Analytical and aggressive, he makes a fine commander for the Joes' mobile base of operations! Keel-Haul comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Lady Jaye: a competent actress even before she was recruited by the U.S. Army, Alison became a master of espionage with the tutelage of Army master intelligence operatives. She's also a master of several obscure weapons, a master linguist, and a competent pilot! Lady Jaye comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Quick Kick: a former Hollywood stunt man before he was recruited by the Gi Joe team, MacArthur was raised by immigrant parents in Watts and grew up tough. A master of numerous martial arts styles, MacArthur has become a silent weapons specialist in the fight against Cobra! Quick Kick comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Sgt. Slaughter: a veritable force of nature, the Sarge was born on Parris Island, and raised to become about as tough and as mean as is humanly possibly - a perfect Marine! The ultimate drill instructor, the Sarge is who the Joes rely upon to keep themselves on their toes! Sgt. Slaughter comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Shipwreck: born and raised around the San Diego Naval Grounds, young Hector X Delgado was practically fated to become a sailor - and he joined the Navy to do just that. He was good enough at his job to eventually become a Joe - and even a Navy S.E.A.L.! Shipwreck comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Snake-Eyes: a singularly mysterious man, the commando known only as Snake-Eyes has experienced nothing but tragedy in his life. However, he's persevered through the years, and become a true force to be reckoned with - as would any other patriotic ninja master! Snake-Eyes comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Tollbooth: having a passion for construction since childhood, Chuck gained a Masters degree in engineering from MIT - but found the 'real' world lacked a proper challenge. As such, he enlisted in the Army, excelling to the point that the Gi Joe team signed him up as its combat engineer! Tollbooth comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Tripwire: one of the single most jittery human beings you're likely to meet, Tormod is something of a hyper-active bumbler and clumsy oaf. Of course, he's the Joe team's ultimate demolitions expert because explosives are the only thing that calm him down, unlike everyone else...! Tripwire comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Equipment:

the A.W.E. Striker: a small, lightweight vehicle, this grass-green, off-road marvel is a combat vehicle the Gi Joe team adopted in '85. Weighing in at 2.8 tons and armed with a powerful, recoil-less rifle, the A.W.E. Striker can get almost anywhere in a jiffy to offer the Joes fire support! The A.W.E Striker comes in Classic and Saga styles!

the Armadillo Mini-Tank: a tank in miniature, the Armadillo packs the fire power of four linked, 60mm cannons into a vehicle the size of a Ford ™ Escort ™. Though small and having one set of weapons, it's fast and highly durable, making it ideal for quickly assembled missions. The Armadillo Mini-Tank comes in Classic and Saga styles!

the Bomb Disposal Unit: handy for Exposive Ordnanace Disposal work, this vehicle is a small treaded device that can handle undetonated weaponry (both allied and enemy) with relative safety. In other words, the Bomb Disposal Unit helps the Gi Joe team render an area safe - both before and after a battle! Comes in Classic and Saga styles!

the Bridge Layer: a perfect vehicle for a combat engineer like Tollbooth, the Bridge Layer is an armored bridge-deploying vehicle, capable of helping other vehicles (armored or otherwise) cross troubled terrain with ease. It's also heavily armed in case the enemy thinks it an 'easy target...' The Bridge Layer comes in Classic and Saga styles!

the Gi Joe Battle Field Kits: the Gi Joe team maintains a large supply of ready-made, prefabricated kits that are packed and able to be put into action at a moment's notice. Though not as versatile as their vehicles, this equipment is nonetheless vital to the defense of their territory. The Gi Joe Battle Field Kits come in Classic and Saga styles!

the Mauler M.B.T.: a replacement for the Gi Joe team's old M.O.B.A.T. tanks, the Maulers are a more advanced offensive animal. Faster and more durable, the Mauler M.B.T. packs a considerable punch in the Gi Joe team's never-ending fight against global terrorism - as Heavy Metal knows all too well! The Mauler M.B.T. comes in Classic and Saga styles!

the Silver Mirage: this small, fast vehicle is a replacement for the venerable yet still effective R.A.M. The hue of its namesake, the Silver Mirage is a lightweight motorcycle with a heavily armed side car, and is equipped with four tiny missiles it can use to total small vehicles. The Silver Mirage comes in Classic and Saga styles!

 

the Snow Cat: the Snow Cat can traverse the nastiest of icy terrain thanks to its half track design, in even the coldest of Katabatic winds. Armed with surface to surface / air missiles and ground based 'ski torpedoes', the Snow Cat commands winter battles. Availability:

the Tactical Battle Platform: this easily transportable, prefabricated base can be used by the Gi Joe team almost anywhere on earth - even at sea if used on an unoccupied oil platform base. Either as a base for other missions or a deterrent in its own right, the Tactical Battle Platform controls any area it occupies! Available in Classic and Saga styles!

the U.S.S. Flagg: the largest and most distinctive conveyance in the Gi Joe arsenal, the U.S.S. Flagg allows the team to carry its war against terrorism world-wide. A fully functional Nimitz class aircraft carrier, the Flagg has been the base of countless Joe missions against Cobra and its ilk! The U.S.S. Flagg comes in Classic and Saga styles!

the Weapons Transport Vehicle: this small vehicle has a specialized purpose in the Gi Joe arsenal: the safe delivery of heavy ordnance from one location to another. Though not of much direct combat use, it is nonetheless an important part of the team's vast equipment catalog. The Weapons Transport Vehicle comes in Classic and Saga styles!
