Powers:

(none)

Equipment:

Ground to Air Pistol (a): this experimental weapon is Blaine's pride and joy. He can use it to fire small, rocket propelled bullets which have a range far beyond standard ammunition. The gun itself inflicts his Agility +5 damage per shot, and has a line of sight range.

Helmet (s): Blaine always wears this head gear on the job. It provides him +2 protection against head-based attacks, and is equipped with a communications headset with intensity 1 range; just enough to sync up with the comm gear in his Sky Sweeper.

the Sky Sweeper (i): this high tech assault vehicle is more than meets the eye. A sort of treaded, anti-aircraft vehicle, the Sky Sweeper also has a component that can detach to form a sentry post for the Future Fortress!. The Sky Sweeper is described in greater detail in its own entry.

Hindrances:

Phobia / Flying: Blaine has a remarkable phobia concerning flight; he's not afraid of heights per se, but the mere idea of being off the ground terrifies him. If his work forces him to get on an flying vehicle, he functions at zero (0) for all ability scores until he deplanes.

Skills:

Artillery (a): the main offensive talent Blaine brings to the table, this skill represents his mastery of high caliber weaponry. From mortars to missiles to ship cannons, Blaine can fire anything with a line of sight at one difficulty level lower than is normally necessary.

Boxing (s): an ability that everyone learns in their Basic training, Blaine can easily defend himself should he find himself without weapons. He may divide his pre-cardplay action score between two unarmed melee attacks, the last of which occurs as a contingent action.

Electronics (i): Blaine is an expert in electronics repair, particularly where radiowaves and infrared beams are concerned. When attempting to design, build or repair any electronic circuit or device, Blaine should do so at a reduced difficulty level.

Marksmanship (a): a skill everyone picks up in the military these days, Blaine can easily operate most conventional firearms. Whether he's handling a standard, semi-automatic or fully automatic rifle or pistol, Blaine may do so at one difficulty level lower than is usually required.

Military / United States (w): serving as an origin of sorts for Blaine, this talent is the source of almost all his other skills. It describes how he knows the S.O.P. like the back of his hand, and how he can effortlessly function in a military environment.

Trivia / Air Disasters (i): as a side effect of his incredible fear of flying, Blaine has learned everything there is to know about air disasters. Blaine can quote you statistics about the likelihood of any air vehicle crashing, as well as major crashes involving like vehicles in the past...

Calling:

Soldier: Blaine loves his work and he's really good at it. Of course, his job entails building the leading edge of military hardware, and then testing his prototypes out in field conditions against the enemies of the United States. And you thought your I.T. guy was tough.

Costume:

Blaine's Gi Joe field uniform is... fanciful, to say the least. It includes a pair of black trousers, a blue, long sleeved shirt under a futuristic, device-laden tan vest, a silvery belt, one blue glove (left) and one black glove (right), tan and green boots, and a device-laden tan helmet.

Personality:

Blaine is a resourceful and highly motivated individual. He excels in field repairs of even the most sensitive equipment, and is more than happy to volunteer for almost any mission, no matter how dangerous it may be - despite his apparently morbid fear of flying.

Real Name: Blaine M. Gonsalves, Grade E-5
Occupation: microwave technician, infantryman
Legal Status: citizen of the United States with a possible minor criminal record, legally deceased
Marital Status: unrevealed
Alias(es), if any: none
Group Affiliation: Gi Joe, Battle Force 2000 (Gi Joe sub-team)

Height: 5' 10"
Hair: light brown
Eyes: brown
Weight: 165 lbs
Other Distinguishing Characteristics: none.

Story:

Blaine has always been involved in the research and development of advanced military gear. He was a member of the test crew assigned to work on the canceled 'Sgt. York' DIVAD anti-aircraft system, along with at least two other equipment tests at Aberdeen that are classified to this very day.

The man knows his way around ballistics electronics, and has an uncanny knack for repairing such gear - from radar systems to infrared sensors to targeting computers - while in the field... often under enemy fire. It doesn't hurt that if all else fails, he can aim manually without loss of accuracy.

Blaine's history and capabilities have earned him a place on the Gi Joe team, and he was immediately moved onto the Joes' experimental Battle Force 2000 unit. Given a nigh-unlimited budget to concoct the Military of the Future, Blaine dived into his work whole hog.

The eventual product of his genius was the Sky Sweeper, a small, treaded anti-aircraft vehicle - with a bonus sentry station that can combine with components of the other Battle Force 2000 gear to form the team's Future Fortress - a truly 'instant' base of operations!

Blaine saw his first action against Cobra in the northern nation of Freusenland, when those terrorists tried to weasel their way into power there thanks to their emotion-manipulating Terror Dromes. Already there when the plan was put into motion, the Force readily put it down.

Having proved themselves to the Joes, Blaine and his Battle Force 2000 teammates were on hand to serve with distinction for several years on a multitude of missions, most of which are still classified, but at least one involved several clashes with Cobra's stooges, the Dreadnoks.

This service came to an end for Blaine when, while sneaking through an oil field in the besieged middle eastern nation of Benzheen, the Battle Force 2000 were betrayed by the very Emir they were protecting. Thanks to him, Cobra knew where they were, and the Force was shelled.

Caught in a massive fireball as billions of dollars of oil went up explosively all around them, almost all of the team were killed instantly - Blaine included. Though he died in the line of duty, he was buried at Arlington along with his fellow dead Joes...
