Mangler (deceased) Strength Agility Intellect Willpower 8d 3d 3x 5d Hand Size: 3 (17) Edge: 1 Powers: (none) Equipment: Knife (s): most Joes carry a blade with them in the field, should they need to cut something - or someone. Made from m.s. 12 materials, this blade can cut through items of up to like m.s. (given enough time), or be used to inflict Mangler's Strength +2 damage in melee. M-60 Machine Gun (a): rather strong, Mangler usually gets to wield the heavy firepower on missions. He can fire this weapon to inflict his Agility +6 damage in a short burst, raised to his Agility +7 damage when he opens it up fully automatic. Semi-automatic Pistol (a): in case his big gun is unavailable for some reason, Mangler also carries this back-up piece. He can fire this smaller hand cannon to inflict his Agility +4 damage in a single shot, raised to his Agility +5 damage in a semi-automatic burst. Hindrances: (none) Skills: Boxing (s): though he didn't need much work in this regard, Mangler was schooled in the art of self defense by the military. He may divide his pre-cardplay action score between two unarmed melee attacks, the last of which will occur as a contingent action. Marksmanship (a): Mangler's good with guns, that much is certain. The man is schooled in the art of gunplay, and can use most modern firearms with ease. Whether standard, semi-automatic or fully automatic, or even something like a shotgun, Mangler can wield it at a reduced difficulty. Military / United States (w): the source of all his talents, this skill serves as an effective origin for Mangler. It describes his ability to effectively function in a fighting group, as well as his considerable knowledge of the Army's Standard Operating Procedure. Calling: Soldier: say what you will about Mangler, but he was a good soldier at the very least. He enjoyed using his skills and government-issue hardware to fight for freedom, wherever there's trouble. Had he not died in the field, he might've become an even better person, as well. Costume: Mangler's costume is a simple and utilitarian one. It consists of a green short sleeved shirt with a darker green camouflage pattern printed on (and no T shirt worn beneath), green trousers (without camouflage), black leather boots, and a green leather belt with several patches on it. Personality: Mangler is a rather head-strong young man, confident in his abilities and in his stature. He has a great enthusiasm for his work in the military, though he also has a considerable temper, often blurting out what he's thinking without editing himself with consideration for others. Real Name: unrevealed Occupation: infantryman Legal Status: citizen of the United States with no known criminal record, legally deceased Marital Status: single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: Gi Joe Height: 6' 1" Hair: blonde Eyes: brown Weight: 200 lbs Other Distinguishing Characteristics: none. Story: Little is known about the background of the Gi Joe recruit known to his teammates only as Mangler. He enlisted at a very young age, possibly as early as he legally could, and had proven himself to be an exceptional recruit from the very get-go. Mangler had proven so good at what he does that he was recommended to the Gi Joe team as a potential member. Liking the idea of belonging to an elite and covert military team, Mangler decided to go for it, and thus submitted himself to the horrific Gi Joe entrance exam. Strong, tough and stubborn, Mangler managed to make his way through the course easily enough, and along with fellow Joe 'newbie' Lightfoot, was assigned to blow up a lingering weapons cache in Trucial Abysmia after the government there went communist. Halfway into the mission, Mangler and Lightfoot, along with their Joe handlers Dusty and Outback, were captured by Abysmian troops. Tortured for information, Lightfoot spilled the beans about their mission, which had the effect of setting Mangler off. Calling him a traitor, Mangler was kicked back by Dusty, who could see that poor Lightfoot could barely walk after the severe torture and beating he'd suffered. When they were released into the desert after their captors made for the cache, the Joes had to take stock. Though it seemed their mission was a failure, Lightfoot stepped up and said he wasn't about to give up yet, and that he was ready to blow the weapons' cache if the others could simply get him there. Since Mangler was the strongest man on site, he was elected to carry Lightfoot there. On location, the Joes infiltrated the cache, as it was since dug up by the Abysmian military, and Lightfoot improvised a spectacular explosion to destroy all the classified gear within. Attempting escape, the Joes were pursued by several armored vehicles - and things looked grim. Inspired by Lightfoot's sheer gumption, Mangler decided to do his own part, and leapt from the Joes' vehicle in order to buy the others time to escape. Running at the Abysmians with his machine gun firing fully automatic, he caused them to crash into each other. Of course, they also crashed into Mangler in the process, and one of the armored troop carriers rolled onto him as a result. Dying almost immediately, Mangler nonetheless succeeded in his mad gambit, and the other three Joes made for friendlier territory. While Dusty was going to wash Mangler out for not being a team player, he decided not to bother with his negative report after Mangler's death, since you know, he was dead anyway. As such, Mangler was made an official Joe, even if somewhat posthumously.
