Equipment:

Helmet (s): Paul's distinctive chromed helmet has the Gi Joe logo painted on the front for all to see. It's also practical though, in that it provides the man +2 protection against physical attacks that strike him in the head (unless they hit him in the face...).

the Joe-Com: this is a new device given to all Joes since the group's reactivation. This high-tech wristband functions as an audio/video transceiver with various other goodies built in to help a soldier on the go, and is described in greater detail in its own equipment entry.

Knife: a back-up in the event that he cannot use his submachine gun on a foe, Paul also carries this blade on a hip holster. It can be used to cut through items of up to m.s. 12, and can also be used to inflict his Strength +2 damage as well.

Partial Armor: Paul, in addition to his chromed helmet and shield, wears a large chrome vest as well. This heavy armor provides him +2 protection against physical attacks that strike him in the torso, +3 if his shield is also blocking said assaults.

Shield: Paul carries a large chromed shield with him into battle, mostly because he's strong enough to do so. This shield provides him +2 protection against physical attacks, if he can put the shield between himself and such assaults.

Submachine Gun (a): his primary weapon in the field, Paul can wield this firearm to deadly effect. It inflicts his Agility +4 damage in a single shot, raised to his Agility +5 damage when he fires it in a semi-automatic fashion.

Hindrances:

(none)

Skills:

Boxing (s): Paul does not just have the standard military hand to hand training - he's an expert in all manner of combat, armed or unarmed! He may divide his pre-cardplay action score between two unarmed attacks, the last of which occurs as a contingent action.

Linguistics (i): in addition to his obvious mastery of English, Paul has had to demonstrate fluency in no less than three languages from the potential adversary list. These specific languages are unknown, but may include Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Russian, and many more.

Marksmanship (a): Paul is an expert marksman, having trained extensively in the use of just about anything that fires bullets. He may wield any gun, whether it is a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol, or even a shotgun, at a reduced difficulty.

Military / United States (w): the source of all his skills, Paul can definitely consider this skill an 'origin' of sorts. It represents his ability to work with fighting men and women easily, as well as his inherent understanding of the S.O.P.

Calling:

Soldier: Paul has worked his way through basic training, then through West Point, and finally through his top-secret new program the hard way, and has enjoyed every minute of it. He is the quintessential soldier success story, and he lives the dream every day he's in the Army.

Costume:

Paul's Gi Joe uniform is flashy, no doubt about it. It includes a green tank top beneath a chromed steel vest, dark green trousers, black leather boots, chromed knee pads, a gray leather belt, and of course his signature, chromed helmet with the Gi Joe logo on the front.

Personality:

Paul is an incredibly hard working man, who has pushed his way through the Army the hard way. Confident and self-assured, the man has been trained to excel in even the most hostile of situations, and can keep his cool no matter how rough his life may become.

Story:

Paul enlisted in the Army with the intent of getting into West Point, without all that tedious 'college' holding him up. He worked hard, and ultimately earned himself a spot in the West Point Prep School, despite having no guarantee of an appointment to the Academy.

Despite a daunting 60% attrition rate, Paul showed his true colors and earned himself a spot at West Point against all odds. Of course, that's where Paul started the really hard work. Once at West Point, he'd become qualified for several additional elite programs.

Having mastered three separate enemy languages, earned the expert infantryman's badge, and being airborne qualified, Paul was admitted into a special program so top secret that it doesn't even have a name! This program was designed to produce highly motivated, technically savvy soldiers.

These soldiers would function behind enemy lines with little to no support, which was just how Paul liked it. Some wondered why he joined this obscure program when the Joint Chiefs themselves had their eye on him - did he seek adventure, or did he have more noble goals in mind?

Regardless, Paul excelled at even this intense training, and was the first graduate from the top secret program. As such, it was natural that the Gi Joe team would want to scoop him up for their own use, and wanting to do his part for his country Paul was more than ready to sign up.

Not that most of his fellow Joes would ever know what the man was actually doing for the team. The vast, vast majority of Paul's work consisted of solo Special Missions the likes of which most men would refuse outright - but for Paul, these are just another day on the job!

He continued his special work for the team for the duration of its original incarnation, returning to conventional Army work back in '94. Of course, when Cobra shenanigans forced the Gi Joe team to form back up just a few years later, Paul was more than happy to lend a hand.

Even if, once again, his fellow Joes barely even knew he was amongst them...!
