Origin:

As are most Gi Joes, Lightfoot is but a normal human, lacking ascendant powers of any stripe. While he has no super powers though, he nonetheless has a wide variety of advanced equipment with which to fight terrorists and other evildoers, so he could be considered a high tech hero.

Known Powers:

(none)

Equipment:

Explosives: his claim to fame, Lightfoot knows about blowing things up. He carries a wide variety of explosives with him in the field, as well as all the gear necessary to arm (or disarm) them. His explosives can be detonated to inflict Incredible (40) Edged Attack (fragmentary) damage.

Grenades: if he needs to blow something up without a lot of preparation (say, in a firefight), Lightfoot can chuck one of his many grenades when necessary. He can fling these up to an area away from his person, and they detonate to inflict Remarkable (30) Edged Attack (fragmentary) damage.

Helmet: Lightfoot wears a high tech helmet while in the field. It is made from Good (10) m.s. materials, and offers him like protection from physical attacks. Furthermore, this helmet is tied into the sensors provided by his mine detector, and he can see everything it can.

the Joe-Com: this is a new device given to all Joes since the group's reactivation. This high-tech wristband functions as an audio/video transceiver with various other goodies built in to help a soldier on the go, and is described in greater detail in its own equipment entry.

Mine Detector: Lightfoot wields an advanced mine sensor that he can control by remote. This automated device moves on small treads and can be driven around to seek out mines and other explosive devices, being able to find them with Remarkable (30) skill thanks to chemical and other sensors.

Semi-automatic Pistol: aside from his large amount of grenades and explosives, this is Lightfoot's primary weapon. He can fire this hand cannon to inflict Typical (6) Shooting damage in a single shot, raised up to Good (10) Shooting damage in a semi-automatic hail of lead.

Quirks:

(none)

Talents:

Demolitions 2: his stock in trade, Lightfoot is a true expert in the fine art of blowing things up. Knowing almost everything there is to know about explosives, he receives a +2 CS on FEATs intended to either destroy something with a bomb or disarm such devices wherever he finds them.

Guns: though his primary specialty involves the use of high explosives, Lightfoot has also been trained in the use of most modern firearms. Whether he's holding a standard, semi-automatic or fully automatic rifle or pistol, Lightfoot may resolve Shooting attacks at his Agy +1 CS.

Martial Arts type B: something everyone learns in their basic training, Lightfoot knows how to defend himself even without a weapon in hand. Whenever he's punching, kicking, or even head butting an opponent, Lightfoot may attempt to do so as if his Ftg was +1 CS in rank.

Military / United States: the source of all his skills and advanced equipment, this talent easily serves as an origin of sorts for Lightfoot. It describes his instinctive understanding of the Standard Operating Procedure, as well as his ability to function in a combat unit.

Contacts:

Lightfoot is a member of the Gi Joe team in good standing, and can easily rely upon his fellows for assistance in most any matter if necessary. He has further contacts in the military, both from his basic training and his extensive experience in demolitions, as well.

Costume:

Lightfoot's Night Force uniform is ... less conspicuous than his first. It includes a long sleeved brown shirt beneath a black padded vest, brow trousers with black pads on the sides, black leather boots and gloves, a black leather belt, and a large black helmet with red lenses over the eye pieces.

Personality:

To call Cory 'fussy' would be something of an understatement. After working with explosives for so long, the man has elevated caution to an almost Zen degree, and is constantly checking the environment around himself for even the slightest hint of danger, no matter how seemingly innocuous.

Story:

Cory acquired the nickname of 'Lightfoot' long before he was a member of the Gi Joe team. He'd served for a while as a demolitionist for the Army, working either to prevent nefarious explosives from detonating or to alternately destroy objects of interest controlled by enemy forces.

Thanks to his intense fear of being blown up on the job, Lightfoot has memorized just about all the science behind his skill, not needing to bother with reference works at all. Whether working on domestic or foreign explosives, Lightfoot can easily arm (or disarm) these destructive devices.

Having gained the notice of the powers that be, Lightfoot was recommended to the Gi Joe team by their mysterious recruiters. He worked his way through the grueling Gi Joe entrance exam, and made it to the 'final exam', this being an actual live mission - waged in Trucial Abysmia.

Led by Dusty and Outback, this job united Lightfoot with fellow finalist Mangler on a simple mission to destroy a secret U.S. weapons cache before the government there could find it. This job didn't go as planned however, and the Joes were captured in the process of setting the necessary explosives.

The leader of Trucial Abysmia's local contingent interrogated the Joes for information, and Lightfoot broke under brutal torture. Mangler gave Lightfoot heck over this, but when the Joes escaped captivity, it was Lightfoot that insisted on completing the mission, despite being in such bad shape.

Making a second attempt on the cache, Lightfoot finished the job, blowing the depot with improvised materials on location. This alerted the Abysmians to their continued presence and activities, and the Joes tried to make their escape - only to suffer a mechanical failure on their stolen ride.

Having been put in his place by Dusty, Mangler decided to make things right, and bought his fellow Joes some time to escape. He did so, at the cost of his very life, and Lightfoot and the others managed to escape. Though successful, the truth was that Lightfoot was severely injured by his tortures.

Laid up for a good long time, Lightfoot had to go through the Gi Joe entrance exam a second time, making him the only member of the team to pass the program twice. This time, during his final exam, Lightfoot was on a team that included fellow finalists Budo and Repeater.

This exam involved preventing a group of Cobra goons from looting the Piccatinny weapons arsenal. Led by Grand Slam, this trio of aspiring Gi Joes managed to not only stop the terrorists from making off with all these weapons, but unmasked them as Iron Grenadier operatives in disguise!

With this mission a success, Lightfoot was finally admitted onto the Gi Joe team as a fully fledged member. He participated in a number of Special Missions for the team, most of which were executed on American soil, against Cobra and other assorted terrorist goons who reared their ugly heads.

He continued to serve with the Joes until their temporary deactivation in 1994. When the team was reunited several years later, Lightfoot wasn't among the first Joes to return to the fold, but he readily made his way back when he was asked by the team, most often to help them on major operations.

After Cobra triggered World War III however, Lightfoot returned to the Gi Joe team full time. Cobra itself has been defeated, and its Commander jailed in an undersea prison - which just left those followers of his who'd escaped justice. And Lightfoot is helping the team to rectify that situation!
