Skymate Strength Agility Intellect Willpower 7d 5a 4x 7d Hand Size: 4 (25) Edge: 2 Powers: (none) Equipment: Air Commandos Glider (i): this glider, of Cloudburst's design, allows him to slip silently into enemy territory when necessary. Built for silent running yet armed for emergencies, the Air Commandos glider is described more fully in its own vehicular entry. Boomerang (a): this curious weapon is Skymate's favorite. He can throw it to inflict his Strength +2 in blunt trauma damage, or fling it in such a fashion that it will move out to far missile distance and then return to his position - assuming it hits nothing along the way. Compound Bow (a): Skymate often uses this weapon while soaring silently above his foes in his glider. He can use it to inflict his Strength +4 in piercing damage with every shot, and can get off one arrow per exchange - as long as he hasn't used them all up already. Grenades (i): Skymate always has one grenade strapped to his web gear, which lets him devastate opponents from above. This fragmentary grenade inflicts intensity 10 explosive damage to all uncovered targets within near missile distance of where it detonates. the Joe-Com (i): this is a new device given to all Joes since the group's reactivation. This high-tech wristband functions as an audio/video transceiver with various other goodies built in to help a soldier on the go, and is described in greater detail in its own equipment entry. Knife (s): you never know when you're going to have to cut something - or someone - in the field. As such, Skymate always carries a blade with him on the job, which can be used to inflict +2 damage in melee, or to cut through items of up to m.s. 12. Semi-automatic Pistol (a): a handy back-up should his main weapon fail him, Skymate carries this small hand cannon on him at all times. Skymate can fire this weapon to inflict his Agility +4 damage in a single shot, or his Agility +5 damage in a semi-automatic burst. Hindrances: (none) Skills: Aerial Combat (a): in addition to his unconventional weapons training, Skymate can fight while flying, as well! Skymate should receive a reduced difficulty on combat maneuvers attempted while in the air, whether they're offensive or defensive in nature. Archery (a): though he's competent with most standard firearms, Skymate most often uses a bow in battle - his job is to kill people without anyone hearing the deed, after all. He can fire most bows, whether standard or compound, at a reduced difficulty level. Boomerangs (a): Skymate is an expert with a large variety of thrown weapons; it just so happens that he prefers the boomerang above all others. Whether flinging it at a target (living or otherwise), Skymate should do so at a reduced difficulty. Boxing (s): a skill that everyone learns in their basic military training, Skymate can easily defend himself even if stripped of all his fancy hardware. He can divide his pre-cardplay action score between two unarmed melee attacks, the second being a contingent action. Marksmanship (a): while Skymate's main job is wielding oddball weaponry, he can nonetheless fight effectively with a firearm as well. Whenever he's wielding a standard, semi-automatic or fully automatic rifle or pistol, Skymate may do so at a reduced difficulty. Military / Australia (w): Skymate, unlike almost all the other members of the Gi Joe team, wasn't trained by the U.S. military - instead, he's an Australian, and learned the S.O.P. from them. They also trained him how to fight effectively alongside other soldiers as well. Calling: Adventurer: Skymate may be a soldier, but he doesn't serve merely for the sake of doing so. He's in it for the adventure, for the chance of doing something to push himself to his absolute limits in the pursuit of threats that would do his nation harm. Costume: Skymate's costume is... semi-conspicuous. It consists of a dark green, short sleeved shirt beneath yellow webbing and shoulder pads, black trousers beneath green holsters and tool belts, green leather boots and gloves, a yellow leather belt, and a dark red cap with a blue visor. Personality: One way to describe Daniel's personality would be 'extreme'. Daniel was over the top enough to rate the use of that word as a description of his persona long before it became en vogue, as almost every action he takes is larger than life - and usually beyond rational. Real Name: Daniel T. Toner, Corporal Occupation: glider operator, special weapons expert Legal Status: citizen of Australia with no known criminal record Marital Status: single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: Gi Joe, Air Commandos (Gi Joe sub-group) Height: 6' 1" Hair: light brown Eyes: brown Weight: 180 lbs Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Daniel wears a large, thick moustache at all times. Story: Daniel grew up out on a remote station, not too far from the Haast Bluff Aboriginal Reserve. There, he picked up many of the specialized skills that he would later polish alongside the Australian Special Air Service in their exotic weapons training program. He's a fiend with boomerangs, knives and woomeras, and he can wield these weapons just as competently (and as dangerously) as he can standard firearms. In fact, Daniel proved so good with a wacky variety of weapons that he was used in the fight against international terrorism! Engaging in this work domestically at first, Daniel was eventually offered by the Australian government to the Gi Joe team, what with the threat of Cobra terrorism becoming more and more prevalent of late. This way, he could take the fight against them global! And that Daniel did. Working as the Gi Joe operative Skymate, he has joined the team's elite Air Commandos, and engages in all manner of actions against Cobra, whether from the air in his high tech glider or on the ground using his deadly, special weaponry. With his special SAS training as well as his expertise in unconventional, silent weaponry, Skymate has proven his mettle in the war against Cobra's terrorist activities, and did so with the Gi Joe team until it was temporarily disbanded at the end of 1994. After this point, Skymate presumably returned to Australia, where he continued to serve in his own military. The man likely instructed his fellows on Cobra (and other terrorist) tactics, and helped strengthen his nation against the activities of such organizations. Skymate wasn't seen alongside the Gi Joe team again until it's last documented action against Cobra, during World War III itself. This conflict, which Cobra instigated in an effort to conquer the entire planet at once, was one that ultimately saw that group's downfall. Skymate himself fought alongside several other Joes in England to ward off Cobra's advance there.
