The M.U.V.
The Gi Joe team is always putting new off-road fighting vehicles into action, it seems. It's possible that some of these don't last very long in the field because they're constantly destroyed in action. Or perhaps the Joes just seek that 'perfect' off road fighting vehicle.
The M.U.V. is the latest in a long string of such vehicles. The M.U.V., which stands for Military Utility Vehicle, is a sort of camouflaged, super-charged Jeep ™ - with a top-mounted machine gun and a bumper that's perfect for ramming. The M.U.V. has these characteristics:
| C Ex 20 |
S Rm 30 |
B Ex 20 |
P Gd 10 |
Body Armor: the M.U.V. is built tough. It has an armored radiator, a stiffened roll bar, and modular 'monster truck' wheels (complete with self-sealing foam), a total package that provides the vehicle a m.s. of Excellent (20) and Good (10) armor.
Communications Array: the M.U.V. is equipped with a gigahertz frequency, frequency wobbler clandestine operations radio system. This makes for Excellent (20) communications power (with a 100 mile range) that has Remarkable (30) ranked signal encryption.
Halogen Lamps: the M.U.V. has two different quartz-halogen headlights, as well as a secondary lamp that can be aimed at somewhere besides the space in front of the vehicle. They all produce Excellent (20) intensity illumination, which can fill an area or blind foes (if used with surprise).
Machine Guns: the M.U.V. is one of the (very) rare Gi Joe vehicles that lacks a missile launcher. Its top-mounted cannon can be fired to inflict Excellent (20) Shooting damage in a short burst, raised to Remarkable (30) Shooting damage in a sustained blast of lead.
Passenger Space: though it's not huge, the M.U.V. has room for many Joes. It can hold two in its armored insides, one Joe on each side via the running boards, several Joes in the rear cargo space (one chair, room for more), and at least one hanging onto the rear bumper in a pinch.
Rollbar: supplementing the protection of the M.U.V.'s occupants, its rollbar also provides them extra defense against crashing damage. In the event of a crash (likely) or roll, the M.U.V.'s occupants gain 1 CS of damage reduction against crash damage.
