Gi Joe: 2005 Personnel and Equipment
Personnel:
Barrel Roll: Dwight E. Stall comes from a family with a long tradition of military service. He is the first of three siblings to complete the Gi Joe training course, and has proven to be the most capable Joe in his family (save where his brother Blackout beats him in sheer depravity). Barrel Roll comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Bazooka: a former tank jockey until his sudden epiphany about untrained yahoos immobilizing million dollar hardware with two hundred dollar handheld rockets, Bazooka instead became a missile specialist himself. Now a highly trained yahoo, he excels in destroying enemy vehicles for the Gi Joe team! Bazooka comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Bombstrike: Alyssa has shown once again that her family is destined for greatness. Like her brother Barrel Roll, Alyssa has proven her mettle and joined the Gi Joe team as a forward air controller - much to the chagrin of her other brother, the evil Cobra operative known as Blackout... Bombstrike comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Cannonball: an endurance test driver for a variety of vehicles, John Warden is known for utterly destroying his ride - just to see what it's capable of! He's done this for civilian vehicle companies, the military in general, and most recently as a member of the elite Gi Joe team! Cannonball comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Depth Charge: Nick joined the Navy in order to get experience in explosives handling - which he did, and how! Of course, his particular job involves his setting such devices under the waves, which would be okay except for the fact that Nick simply loathes getting into the water... Depth Charge comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Flash: logical and methodical, Anthony had already mastered several schools of electronics knowledge before he joined the Army. After working his way through a bevy of advanced Army schools, he became a specialist in laser weaponry, and works as the Joe team's lab techie. Flash comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Footloose: former eagle scout, former valedictorian and track star in high school, and a former physical education major in college, Footloose dropped out when he had an existential crisis. He eventually resurfaced years later, having enlisted in the Army in order to find purpose - and he has! Footloose comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Gi Joe Greenshirts / Reservists: the Gi Joe Reservists, or Greenshirts as they've come to be known, are Joe trainees. These 'kids' are the best conventional American military training has produced, though they need just a bit 'more' to become official Joes. Availability:
Gung-Ho: one of the roughest and gruffest folk you'll ever meet, Ettienne was born and raised in a swamp. After joining the Marines, he proved himself time and time again, and has shown the same level of achievement as a long-standing member of the Gi Joe team! Gung-Ho comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Kamakura: the apprentice of Snake-eyes, Kamakura is in fact Sean Collins, the adopted son of Vietnam veteran (and former Crimson Guardsman) Wade Collins. Sean fights hard to prove himself, both in the eyes of his father and of course his fellows in the Arashikage ninja clan! Kamakura comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Long Range 2: though born in Monterrey, Mexico, Alejandro Garcia moved to America as a youth, eventually enlisting to become a transportation expert. Possessed of a philosophical bent, Alejandro applies wisdom (and automatic fire) to his problems, and oddly most of them evaporate fast...! Long Range 2 comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Major Barrage: six foot eight and three hundred pounds, David Vennemeyer cuts an imposing figure - and his temper doesn't help with that. But as Major Barrage, the Gi Joe team is usually happy to see him wading into combat. If only because he's pointed at the bad guys, and not them... Major Barrage comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Mutt & Junkyard: thanks to a natural knack with dog handling, Stanley gravitated to the military K-9 units upon enlisting, and his amazing ability with the animals got him a place on the Gi Joe team. There, he both provides security and trains various dogs for use in the field against terrorists. Mutt and Junkyard come in Classic and Saga styles!
Recondo: growing up to hate Wisconsin's cold winters, young Daniel wanted to explore the deepest African jungles as a child - and grew up to do just that. Both on and off the Joe team, Daniel has become an expert in jungle combat - and many other disciplines! Availability:
Rollbar: an unrepentant gear head and street 'tuner', Robert enlisted in order to play with the truly heavy gear the Army's got on hand... not to mention because he wanted to do something more important with his life. Thanks to his obsessive level of skill, Robert's managed both! Rollbar comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Salvo: in a way David is rather similar to Rampart, in that he joined the military to indulge in his favorite hobby. The difference is that while Rampart blows things up as a part of his love for computerized gaming action, David feels that causing spectacular explosions is a worthy and exciting goal unto itself! Salvo comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Spirit: a trained psychologist and Vietnam veteran, Charlie is an expert woodsman and head shrink that brings considerable talent to the Gi Joe team. His fellows fail to understand his 'spiritual mumbo jumbo' now and then, but they respect his skill and his ability to save their skin! Spirit comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Doctor Link Talbot: a third generation veterinarian and a fully qualified Navy S.E.A.L., Dr. Link Talbot is a highly skilled member of the Gi Joe team who didn't join out of choice but out of necessity - it was the only way to protect the animals in his zoo from Cobra's chicanery! Dr. Link Talbot comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Tiger Claw: obsessed with the ninja arts after watching a seemingly profound martial arts movie as a child, Chad M. Johnson pursued the ninja lifestyle all his life. This culminated with him not only becoming Snake-Eyes' apprentice, but joining the Arashikage ninja clan! Tiger Claw comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Tunnel Rat: after being raised on the rather surly streets of Brooklyn back in the day, Nicky grew up to be tough, indomitable, and somewhat jaded. Always looking for a good challenge, he's more than ready to climb into nasty Cobra tunnels to ferret out the bad guys! Tunnel Rat comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Wild Bill: William Hardy is one of the single most friendly people you'll ever meet, not to mention the greatest helicopter pilot you're likely to ever know. He's crashed more aircraft than most pilots actually fly, but then he's also seen more combat than them, as well...! Wild Bill comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Night Force:
Beach-Head: one of the hardest, meanest Rangers ever to come out of Fort Benning, Wayne is a perfect addition to the Gi Joe team, as his never-ending quest for personal perfection tends to rub off on others - even if it does so in a somewhat abrasive fashion...! Beach-Head comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Flint: joining the Army for the promise of adventure after he grew bored with the 'Groves of Academe', Dashiell used his innate smarts to excel in various areas of military expertise, and was recruited onto the Gi Joe team by an old acquaintance of his, the one and only Duke! Flint comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Heavy Assault Squad:
Duke: before being recruited onto the Joe team, Conrad had a history of working in Special Ops, and brought that sneaky expertise to the team as its field leader. Second only to Hawk in the team's leadership, Duke has consistently led the Joes to victory against Cobra over the years! Duke comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Roadblock: aspiring to be one of the world's greatest chefs since he was a child, Marvin put himself through the Escoffier School in France - and then joined the Army to learn from their chefs. Little did anybody know he'd become one heck of a heavy machine gunner, too! Roadblock comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Snake-Eyes: a singularly mysterious man, the commando known only as Snake-Eyes has experienced nothing but tragedy in his life. However, he's persevered through the years, and become a true force to be reckoned with - as would any other patriotic ninja master! Snake-Eyes comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Winter Operations Team:
Backblast: after growing up in the shadow of New York City's greatest airport, Edward J. Menninger decided he'd had enough. Made to hate airplanes after years of exposure to their loud noise and bright lights, he enlisted to get a job in the Army blowing the things up! Backblast comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Frostbite: born in crisp, cool Galena, Alaska, Frostbite grew up dealing with the dread of winter on a daily basis. This taught him how to easily do his job under such conditions, no matter what it may be, which has helped him as both an Alaskan Pipeline techie and a Joe operative! Frostbite comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Mirage: exceptionally proficient with line-of-sight weaponry, Joseph was recruited onto the Gi Joe team, and then into their elite Mega Marines sub-unit, in order to fight Cobra's freak-show genetic experiments - a fight that continues to this very day, it would seem...!! Mirage comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Short-Fuze: coming from two previous generations of Army guys, it was only natural that Eric would join with the Army himself. His natural mathematical capabilities made him a demon with a mortar, a skill which made him a candidate for the new Gi Joe team! Short-Fuze is available in Classic and Saga styles!
Stalker: though he started out as an urban warlord in Detroit, Lonzo cleaned up his act and joined the Army, only to become one of its very best operatives - and one of the first Joes. A qualified Ranger, helicopter pilot, and field medic, Lonzo is an invaluable Gi Joe operative! Stalker comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Equipment:
the Desert Coyote: to picture the Desert Coyote, picture a weaponized go-kart. Yes, the Gi Joe team made use of such a vehicle, armed and armored as much as is physically possible, in order to throw lightning raids into Cobra territory. It may be small but it packs a crazy punch! The Desert Coyote comes in Classic and Saga styles!
the Humvee (Desert, Night Ops): a vehicle most often used by conventional military forces, the Humvee has also been adopted by the Gi Joe team for some purposes. Cheaper than their Hammers or Brawler IIs, the Humvee is a quick and versatile ride that can be given multiple armaments. The Humvee comes in Classic and Saga styles!
the Ninja Lightning Cycle: a revamp of the old-style, Ninja Force vehicle, the Ninja Lightning Cycle is a much more efficient style of ninja motorcycle. It moved the launcher from a side car into the cycle itself, though Kamakura's version still has a tacky paint job. the (new) Ninja Lightning Cycle comes in Classic and Saga styles!
the R.H.I.N.O.: another in a long line of two-in-one Gi Joe devices, the R.H.I.N.O. (or Rapid Heli-Integrated Neutralizing Offensive Vehicle) is a tough ground transport with a small helicopter built in, allowing it to provide its own air support or reconnaissance when necessary! The R.H.I.N.O. comes in Classic and Saga styles!
the R.O.C.C.: a heavily fortified tractor trailer, the R.O.C.C. (or Rolling Operations Command Center) is the latest in a long line of Gi Joe field bases. The difference between the R.O.C.C. and the others is of course the simple fact that the R.O.C.C. is inherently mobile! The R.O.C.C. comes in Classic and Saga styles!
the Wave Crusher: a small clandestine craft used by the Gi Joe team (though mainly Depth Charge), the Wave Crusher is a water sled that can be converted into a Cobra jet ski, allowing its operator to sneak into the ranks of those terrorists without them realizing it. The Wave Crusher comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Built to Rule:
the Freedom Defense Outpost: the last addition to Gi Joe's B.T.R. arsenal, the Freedom Defense Outpost is a prefabricated tower and motor cycle combo that may be assembled in one of two different modes - and switched between the two with in just a few minutes! The Freedom Defense Outpost comes in Classic and Saga styles!
Night Force Team:
the Moray Hydrofoil: arguably Cobra's single greatest water-borne craft, the Moray is a high speed hydrofoil that lends itself to pursuit and attack missions. This is why the Gi Joe team 'appropriated' a few samples of the Moray, in order to creat their very own Night Force fleet! The Moray comes in Classic and Saga styles!
