the Ice Sabre
A half-track, half-ski vehicle built for the Gi Joe team to use in snowy terrain, this vehicle was originally used a few years back, but has been reissued - along with an all new, green camouflage paint job. The powerful and versatile Ice Sabre has these vehicular characteristics:
| C Gd 10 |
S Ex 20 |
B Rm 30 |
P Ex 20 |
Communications Array: the Ice Sabre is equipped with an extremely powerful, gigahertz-frequency, frequency-wobbler radio system. This makes for Typical (6) communications power (with a 100 mile range) that has Remarkable (30) ranked signal encryption - not bad at all, that.
Gun Turret: on the back of the Ice Sabre is a gun station that is normally protected by armored plates, but can be elevated in a pinch to reveal its full power. While lowered, the operator of the gun turret can only fire the machine gun mounted on (see below).
However, when raised, he also has access to two missile launchers, one mounted on each side of the turret; of course, while so raised, he no longer gains the benefit of the vehicle's Protection rating. The Ice Sabre's missiles have these characteristics:
| C Ex 20 |
S Am 50 |
B Ex 20 |
Damage Remarkable (30) Edged Attack (fragmentary) |
When these missiles are fired, they each inflict the listed damage when they strike a target individually. When two missiles are fired at a foe, the damage inflicted is boosted by +1 CS, while hitting a foe with all four will improve their damage by +2 CS.
Machine Guns: say what you will about the Ice Sabre, but the thing is definitely heavily armed. There are four (count 'em) separate machine guns mounted on the Ice Sabre: one on each of the skis, one behind the cockpit, and one on the raising gun turret.
Each of these guns can be fired to devastating effect. In a single shot, they will inflict Typical (6) Shooting damage, in a short, controlled burst this damage will be raised to Good (10), and finally, a fully automatic spread will inflict Excellent (20) Shooting damage.
Furthermore, these guns can be fired in a manner that allows them to concentrate damage on a single foe. The two ski-mounted guns do this automatically, though they can only hit things immediately in front of the Ice Sabre. Concentrating fire adds a +1 CS to the damage inflicted.
