Gi Jane: a member of the old-style Gi Joe team with the cover of a combat nurse, 'Gi' Jane Martelle is also an expert in covert operations and high energy physics; in fact, she's gone so far as to develop a rapid-pulse electron cannon that can strike anywhere in this hemisphere (and enjoys doing so)! Gi Joe: Joseph Colton was the founder and leader of the original Gi Joe team. He literally has decades of combat experience, both that which has been publicized and that which is highly classified. Grand Slam: a comic book / sci-fi fan, James has always been fascinated with advanced technology. In addition to studying electronics in college, he attended the Army's Special Weapons and Advanced Technology schools, allowing him to wield the mighty H.A.L.! Low-Light: lost in the woods for three weeks during a hunting trip gone wrong, Cooper overcame his fear of the dark, of animals, and of loud noises - and how! He grew up to become one with the night, and he's an expert tracker, night spotter and sniper! Low-Light comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Med Alert: a former emergency room doctor, Kirk stepped up to the plate when he felt his country needed him, and enlisted in the armed forces. Spirit: a trained psychologist and Vietnam veteran, Charlie is an expert woodsman and head shrink that brings considerable talent to the Gi Joe team. Snake-Eyes: a singularly mysterious man, the commando known only as Snake-Eyes has experienced nothing but tragedy in his life. Stalker: though he started out as an urban warlord in Detroit, Lonzo cleaned up his act and joined the Army, only to become one of its very best operatives - and one of the first Joes. Storm Shadow: Tommy Arashikage, Cobra's greatest ninja operative, didn't originally start out with evil aims. Checkpoint: a former college wrestler and all-around big guy, Jared became a member of the military police upon leaving school, eventually rising to a position on the Steel Brigade, the Gi Joe reserve unit. Red Zone: ultimately booted out of the F.B.I. because he was too rough on criminals and their precious property, Luke was recruited onto the Gi Joe team who saw that 'liability' as an asset. Rook: an expert behavioral analyst and master of no less than fourteen distinct languages, Andy was inducted into the Gi Joe team since those guys are always fighting the world's worst terrorists.
