Med Alert F A S E R I P Res Pop Gd 10 Gd 10 Ty 6 Ex 20 Ex 20 Gd 10 Ex 20 Ex 20 Sh 0 Health: 46 Karma: 50 Origin: As is the case with the vast, vast majority of Gi Joes, Med Alert is but a normal human - even if he seems larger than life. The man has no special powers of any kind, whether they be from genetic mutation, accidents of Science, or the possession of obscure knowledge. Known Powers: (none) Equipment: First-Aid Kit: his stock in trade, Kirk always carries a first aid kit with him on missions. His first aid gear consists of various medicines, antibiotics, drugs, sterilized medical tools, and even a small oxygen tank. Sometimes, he even carries extra first aid gear in various pouches and such. Helmet: Kirk wears a helmet which provides him Good (10) protection against head shots in general. It also has a flashlight built in (Good (10) illumination) and a radio transceiver with a Feeble (2) range, or 2.5 miles - enough to connect with teammates easily. Knife: handy if you need to cut something - or someone - in the field, carrying a blade on the Gi Joe team is standard practice. Kirk can use this sharp implement to inflict Edged Attack damage in melee, or to cut through items of up to Incredible (40) m.s. - the m.s. of this weapon. Semi-automatic Pistol: an item you normally see on Gi Joe medics even though they're often pacifists, Kirk can wield this weapon well in combat. He can fire it to inflict Typical (6) Shooting damage in a single shot, raised to Good (10) Shooting damage when fired semi-auto. Shotgun: on the other hand, most medics don't carry an assault shotgun with them on the job - but they're not Med Alert. Kirk can fire this weapon to inflict Good (10) Shooting damage to anyone within his current area, in a thirty degree arc in front of himself. Quirks: (none) Talents: First Aid: a combat medic, Kirk knows how to keep people alive. His aid will immediately stop the loss of End ranks in a dying person, and he can stabilize someone at Shift 0 End for 1d10 turns - usually long enough to make a further attempt at saving their life. Guns: though he's a practitioner of a decidedly defensive martial art, Kirk is also very well-versed in the practice of gunplay. Whenever wielding a standard, semi-automatic or fully automatic rifle or pistol, or even a shotgun, Kirk does so at his Agy score +1 CS. Martial Arts type A: Kirk is a master of Tai Chi Chuan, and specializes in using the art in a defensive manner. As such, he can redirect enemy attacks to help him Slam or Stun them regardless of his comparative Str or End scores. Medicine: originally working in an emergency room, Kirk naturally has this talent. He can bring a person at Shift 0 End back after up to twenty turns, and his care allows said person to regain one lost End rank per week. Military / United States: though it was not his first career choice, Kirk has embraced the military lifestyle completely. Thanks to his training, he can function seamlessly in a martial environment, and he can recite the S.O.P. in his sleep. Contacts: As a member of the Gi Joe team, Kirk can naturally rely upon them for assistance should he only ask; he's saved the lives of several of them, after all. Furthermore, he can count several additional military and medical folks (unidentified as yet) as reliable contacts as well. Costume: Kirk wears a rather conspicuous uniform as a Gi Joe field medic. It includes an orange jacket beneath white belts and gear webbing, orange trousers beneath white belts and equipment holsters, white gloves, brown leather boots, black knee pads, and his black helmet. Personality: Kirk has a whole lot of experience with chaos and calamity, which is why he so easily keeps his cool when others around him lose it. Whether he's getting a dressing down from a drill Sergeant or treating a wounded soldier in the field, Kirk always keeps his wits about him. Real Name: Kirk Bacus, Grade E-4 Occupation: medic, martial arts instructor Legal Status: citizen of the United States with no known criminal record Marital Status: single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: Gi Joe Height: 6' Hair: light brown Eyes: brown Weight: 175 lbs Other Distinguishing Characteristics: none Story: Kirk went about his career in a manner opposite the usual manner. He went to medical school and got his degree easily enough, and did some time working in the emergency room of various hospitals. Apparently Kirk needed a change, however, and thus enlisted in the Army. Naturally, the man was put to use as a combat medic, and he's shown time and time again that he's more than willing to run into a firefight in order to collect and/or treat his patient. It was one such patient that introduced the man to the art of Tai Chi Chuan. Using it to help himself heal, this patient intrigued Kirk. As such, the man looked into the matter, and ultimately began training in the art while not on duty. He's become so good at the art of his choice over the years that he makes a good martial arts instructor for others. Of course, it doesn't hurt that he can use his skills to turn his enemy's own energies against them. Seeing that he was developing into a soldier of great and versatile skill, the recruiters for the Gi Joe team came calling upon Kirk one day, and he was quickly brought onto the team. Once he made it in, he made it a point to share his knowledge with his fellow Joes, though people weren't too keen on the idea of hanging with Kirk and his 'serene' class until they watched the man take a Cobra Viper apart with his bare hands. Now, there's a bit more interest. The Joes are resourceful folks, after all, and if offered yet another tool with which to pummel a terrorist senseless, they'll jump on it in a heartbeat. So Kirk helps to mentor Joes during their downtime, and patches them up while they're in the field. You can see why they can't help but like the guy...
