Grunt F A S E R I P Res Pop Ex 20 Ty 6 Ty 6 Gd 10 Gd 10 Ty 6 Gd 10 Gd 10 Sh 0 Health: 42 Karma: 26 Origin: Grunt, like the vast majority of the G.I.Joe force, is a mere normal human, though a normal human that has had extensive training in infantry operations; in fact, he graduated from Advanced Infantry School at almost the top of his class! Known Powers: (none) Equipment: Backpack: this pack is filled with all sorts of necessary, though indeterminate survival and combat gear. For instance, he likely has flashlights, field rations, at least one survival knife, a compass, maps applicable to the mission he's on, and more within (though this has yet to be seen). the Battle Blitz (v5, v7): after he rejoined the G.I. Joe team again (in 2003 this time), Robert made a rather large addition to his personal, military arsenal. The Battle Blitz is a powerful, yet small six-wheeled all-terrain vehicle, armed with a 'Spy Troops' mini-luge feature, and is described in its own entry. Falcon Attack Glider (v2): about a year after he hooked up with the G.I.Joe team, Robert was trained in the effective use of this unpowered aerial attack device. While the Falcon is not described here, it does have its own entry in the Joe equipment guides, however (check it out). Fragmentary Grenades: Robert usually carries a belt full of these things at any one time. Each of these thrown explosives will, three seconds after their pin has been pulled, explode to inflict Remarkable (30) Edged Attack damage to everybody within the area they detonate within (unless they're covered). Helmet: if not otherwise replaced by some other device on a mission, Robert usually wears a standard-issue Army helmet while 'on the job'. This item offers him Good (10) protection against any attack that strikes him on any part of his head besides his face. the Joe-Com*: this is a new device given to all Joes since the group's reactivation. This high-tech wristband functions as an audio/video transceiver with a Typical (6) - 250 mile - range, is equipped with a G.P.S. system, a heart monitor, and can store up to a terabyte of raw data - not bad, eh? Of course, this device also stores a variety of nutrients it can use to supplement activity, which are absorbed directly into one's pores (think of this as Feeble (2) life support, where food is concerned). So, not only is the thing a nice, high tech video phone, but it can also save one's life in a pinch! M-16 Machine Gun: his primary assault weapon, this gun can be fired to inflict Typical (6) Shooting damage with a single round, or Excellent (20) Shooting damage with a full-auto burst. Can fire twenty rounds before changing clips is necessary (Robert usually has bunches of these things). Robert has this gun (or one of like capabilities) on him at all times while on missions. Rocket Launcher (v3): after rejoining the Joe team for a time, Robert began lugging around a heavy duty rocket launcher while serving as the Joes' infantry squad leader. This device fires rockets at a target that will inflict Incredible (40) Edged Attack damage to anybody within his target area. Spy Troops Disguise (v6): with its recent emphasis on espionage and other dirty tricks, a large portion of the G.I. Joe team has taken to using special infiltration disguises. Robert's is a complete, fully functional Cobra C.L.A.W.S. uniform, confiscated from a captured Cobra operative. This advanced armored uniform is built from a classified, ionized fiber composite, and provides Good (10) protection from attack. Furthermore, it is equipped with a Cobra-themed shield that can be used, with a specific shield maneuver, to increase this protection by 1 CS. This protection breaks down as follows: * The Joe-Com is something that the Joes started using in their new (as of 2001) comic, and hasn't been featured on a Grunt action figure... yet. Quirks: (none) Talents: Aerial Combat (v2+): about a year after signing up with the Joes, Robert received a basic crash course in aerial combat, enough to get him going with his Falcon Attack Glider. As such, he makes all Agility FEATs in combat while in the air at +1 CS. Engineering (v3+): going to college after leaving the Joe team, Robert became an engineer under the G.I.Bill, which allows him to add a +1 CS to all FEAT rolls necessary when building anything, as well as the Resources FEAT needed when doing so. Guns: a well-trained infantryman, Robert has been schooled in the use of all kinds of assault rifles and pistols, whether they be automatic or not. As such, he can wield just about any gun (save for your advanced, energy-types) at a +1 CS to his standard Agility rank. Martial Arts types A and B: Robert's military training has provided him the basic tools of self-defense. If unarmed, Robert can nonetheless make melee attacks at a +1 CS to his standard Fighting score, and he can inflict slams or stuns against any opponent, regardless of comparative Str or End scores. Military: having been in the Army for a while, Robert knows military protocols like the back of his hand. Furthermore, he gains a +1 CS in all military matters, such as commanding troops, knowing rules and regulations, and receives the military as a free Contact. Contacts: As a member of the G.I.Joe team, Robert can rely upon that organization for aid should he need it, as the group never leaves its members out in the cold. Furthermore, since he's a military man, he can possibly rely upon the various American armed forces in a pinch on a mission, should they be available. Costume: When he first joined the Joe team, Robert was almost always in his green Army fatigues. In addition to this basic uniform, he wore a green helmet, brown boots, a green belt with pockets for accessories, a green backpack for his larger gear, and webbing filled to the brim with pouches and grenades. That was, however, just his first uniform. His second was mainly a variation on the first, in that anything that was previously green had been changed to a tan, desert-style coloration. He primarily wore this suit when using his glider, and often switched between his first and second uniform. Robert's third uniform was adopted after he signed back up with the Joes for a bit. It consists of a brown leather jacket with a tan undershirt, light yellow-orange trousers, black, shiny boots, and a green helmet with black weather goggles. Oh, and he also wore a drill sergeant's whistle at all times. Robert's fourth uniform was adopted after the Joes reassembled at the end of the nineties. It consists of a long sleeved, camouflage sweater (various greens and browns), deep green trousers, black, shiny boots, a black belt, and black webbing with which to hold various implements of destruction. He quickly amended this outfit slightly. His sixth uniform has light green trousers, a light green 'muscle' shirt with a brown leather shoulder holster for his firearm, a brown leather, accessory-laden belt, brown leather arm straps (with pouches), and brown leather boots. It should be noted at this time that Robert's 'Spy Troops' gear included a full Cobra C.L.A.W.S. uniform. This battle armor consists of a red, ionized fiber armor suit with black trim, black boots and gloves, brown belts, holsters, and webbing, a gold face mask, and a stylized Cobra shield. Robert's seventh uniform is just like his fifth and six - the only difference being the color. It includes greenish-gray trousers, a greenish-gray 'muscle' shirt with a black leather shoulder holster for his firearm, a black leather, accessory-laden belt, black leather arm straps, and brown leather boots. Personality: When he first joined the Joe team, Robert's exuberant and light-hearted attitude was apparent from the start. He was always eager to go on special missions for the team, and seemed more than ready to do anything to help out his fellows. But don't let his happy-go-lucky attitude make you underestimate him. For under that youthful exterior lies an infantry expert, a man extremely well trained in the use of modern combat techniques, and he can likely deal with any threat easily... and with extreme prejudice. Real Name: Robert W. Graves, Grade E-4 (later E-5, then E-6) Occupation: G.I.Joe infantryman, engineer Legal Status: American citizen with no known criminal record Marital Status: presumably single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: G.I.Joe Height: 5' 9" Hair: brown Eyes: blue Weight: 160 lbs. Other Distinguishing Characteristics: none Story: Robert was a very young man when he signed up with the armed forces; sure, lots of other folks are, too, but they aren't as good as he is. You see, Rob graduated near the top of his class in Advanced Infantry School, and not specializing like most military folks, he simply got really good in his chosen area. This extensive infantry expertise got him a job on a nascent anti-terrorist strike force, known as G.I.Joe. A member of the team from the start, Robert happened to be on the team's very first mission, an operation to rescue George Strawhacker, who was being held hostage by middle-eastern terrorists. He also participated in several other major missions for the Joe team, including the rescue of Dr. Adele Burkhart from Cobra forces and the invasion of the town of Springfield, which was being controlled and used as a headquarters by Cobra. Soon after this latter operation, however, Robert left the Joe team, since it was full to bursting with infantry folks like himself, and went to college. Though his thoughts occasionally returned to his military fellows, and he even re-upped for a time, he eventually got his degree. This gave him a head-start on many of his former team-mates, as the Joe team was dismantled in '94. However, with a resurgence in Cobra activities of late, the team has been reassembled once again, and missing his pals, Robert went ahead and rejoined along with the rest of the original Joes!
