Rock 'n Roll Strength Agility Intellect Willpower 8d 4c 3d 6d Hand Size: 4 (25) Edge: 2 Powers: (none) Equipment: G.I. Joe Headquarters (v6, i): every couple of years, the G.I. Joe team puts together a new model of prefabricated, easily assembled fortresses to be used in the field in a pinch, and 2001 was such a year. Craig was tapped to supervise this latest model, which is detailed in its own entry. Grenades (v6): recently, Craig started carrying a trio of grenades (hooked onto his new webbing). These thrown projectiles will detonate to inflict intensity 10 damage to everybody within striking (near missile) distance of their own, personal ground zero; these are flechette (physical damage) grenades. Helmet (v1, v5, s): as a heavy machine gunner, it's quite likely that Craig can be placed in hazardous situations while on missions. As such, while on the job, he often wears a standard issue Army helmet, one that offers him +3 protection against any non-facial head attacks inflicted upon his person. the Joe-Com* (i): this is a new device given to all Joes upon the group's reactivation. This high-tech wristband functions as an audio/video transceiver with an intensity 6 - 250 mile - range, is equipped with a G.P.S. system, a heart monitor, and can store up to a terabyte of raw data - not bad, eh? Of course, this device also stores a variety of nutrients it can use to supplement activity, which are absorbed directly into one's pores (think of this as intensity 1 life support, where food is concerned). So, not only is the thing a nice, high tech video phone, but it can also save one's life in a pinch! Knife (s): should he run out of ammo for some reason, or simply need to cut something in a jiffy, Craig often carries a blade on him whenever he's on a mission - a machete or smaller blade. In his hands, knives act as +2 weapons against living opponent, and can cut through any material of up to material strength 10. M-60 Machine Gun (v1, v3, v5, a): his veritable baby, this large machine gun is extremely deadly in Craig's hands. The weapon inflicts +5 damage with a single shot, +6 in a semi-automatic burst of ammo, or +7 in a full spread. And he's usually got plenty of gun-belts to spare... Miniature Gatling Cannons (v2, a): Craig eventually replaced his M-60 with two twin, hand-held, 5.56 mm, six barreled gatling cannons built by General Monopolies. These implements of devastation weigh 85 lbs each, and each can fire to inflict damage similar to his M-60. However, Craig can increase this damage by +1 if he fires both at a single target at once. This eats ammo like crazy, though, and he rarely does this unless he's going for effect or needs to disable a particularly hard core target. Of course, they come with a 1000 round ammo drum, so he can do this often... the R.A.M. (i): the R.A.M., or Rapid-Fire Motorcycle, isn't necessarily Craig's vehicle, per se, but as often or not, he's riding this two-wheeled monster into battle. After all, it does have a Gatling cannon mounted on the side. Check out it's entry for more details. Shotgun (v2, a): after he switched to those hand cannons, Craig took to carrying a spare shotgun slung on his back, 'just in case'. This stylish gun can fire two shots before it needs to be reloaded, each of which will inflict damage per a +5 weapon - nifty, eh? Sonic Cannon (v3, s): this advanced weapon generates tightly focused sound waves that can inflict intensity 10 concussive or energy damage, depending on the gun setting. This device is energized by a large power pack mounted on Craig's back, and can fire ten shots before it needs to be recharged. Star Brigade Armor (v4, i): for a very short period of time, Craig utilized an extremely heavily armed suit of space-fitted combat armor, while serving as a heavy gunner for the G.I.Joe 'Star Brigade'. See the Star Brigade entry out for more on this. * The Joe-Com is something that the Joes started using in their new (as of 2001) comic, and hasn't been featured on a Rock 'n Roll action figure... yet. Hindrances: (none) Skills: Boxing (s): Craig's military training has provided him the basic tools of self-defense, which basically come in the form of an offensive talent (for Craig, at least). In unarmed melee, Craig can divide his pre-cardplay action score between two attacks, the last of which will occur as a contingent action. Espionage (i): having undergone specialized training in Covert Ops school, Craig can easily perform surveillance missions, infiltrations, and can typically piece together clues and such involving a crime or mystery of some type. He can reduce the difficulty of actions in this area by one difficulty level. Marksmanship (a): it almost goes without saying that Craig is exceptionally skilled in the use of guns, from small, hand-held pistols to big-honking man-shredders like the M-60. He can make attacks with any gun (save for your advanced, energy-types) at one difficulty level lower than is usually required. Military / United States (w): having been in the Army for a serious amount of time, Craig knows military protocols like the back of his hand. Furthermore, he can lower the difficulty of actions related to military matters, such as commanding troops, knowing rules and regulations, by one difficulty level. Surfing (a): growing up on the beaches of Malibu, Craig mastered the fine art of surfing as a wee youth, an art he has refined over the years while on leave or stationed near beaches with 'gnarly' waves. Any surfing actions are made at one difficulty level lower than would otherwise be required. Calling: Thrill-Seeker: Craig loves the sheer thrill and excitement that, for him, can only be found while riding a massive wave - or shooting stuff up with his heavy machine guns. The massive roar of moving water, or of gatling cannons blazing, really gets Craig's blood pumping - he's funny that way. Costume: As a 'costume', Craig originally wore green pants, a green T-shirt, a green helmet, brown boots, and two spare ammunition belts around his shoulders like bandoliers. Furthermore, his brown belt is sometimes adorned with pouches for various necessary tools while on a mission, like a flashlight, etc... Craig's second uniform consisted of camouflage-patterned pants, a tan T-shirt, and black boots and gloves, adorned with all manner of straps and belts to hold ammo, accessories, and the like. Finally, he wore a tan cap with a small ammo belt wound around it. Craig's third uniform was a recolored version of his second, consisting of brown pants, a green T-shirt, and brown boots and gloves, adorned with all manner of orange straps and belts to hold ammo, accessories, and the like. Finally, he wore an orange cap with a small ammo belt wound around it. His fourth suit was basically that extremely large Star Brigade battle armor he wore for a time. This technological terror had a gray chest plate, legs, shoulder pads, elbow joints, and the rest was of a metallic blue coloration. It also had a silvery helmet with a clear visor. When the Joe team reformed, Craig took to wearing a brown pair of pants with a black camo pattern, black boots and gloves, and a green button-up vest with a green T-shirt underneath. It's not as simple as his original uniforms, but it works. Later, when placed in supervision of the latest G.I. Joe prefab fortress, Craig changed uniforms yet again. His current suit consists of green trousers, a brown T-shirt, black leather boots, a gray leather belt, and gray webbing to hold various accessories - webbing which attaches to both his belt and gray shoulder pads. When not actually in charge of these bases, though, Craig often defaults back to his second uniform.* * As seen in the new (as of 2001) G.I. Joe comic. Personality: While Craig can be described as a loyal trooper, a real tough cookie, or one mean mother, the biggest thing a body remembers about him is his total surfer attitude. Truly in love with the wave, this man will do just about anything to go surfing on a decent beach. Of course, when he's not making loud, blaring noises with his M-60 in combat or on a training course, he's often making loud, blaring noises with his electric guitars, often to the dismay of his fellow Joes. Well, except for those that're really into heavy metal music, that is... Real Name: Craig S. McConnel, Grade E-5 (later E-7) Occupation: G.I.Joe heavy machine gunner Legal Status: American citizen with no known criminal record Marital Status: presumably single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: G.I.Joe Height: 6' 1" Hair: blonde Eyes: blue Weight: 170 lbs. Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Craig has a fully grown beard and moustache. Story: Born and raised on Malibu Beach, California, Craig spent most of his youth in search of great waves and playing the guitar for various heavy metal bands. Though the man refuses to grow up, per se, he did eventually decide to get a real job, and joined up with the Army in order to do so. Graduating from advanced infantry school at the top of his class, Craig was given a unique opportunity to join an advanced anti-terrorist fighting force, one with a membership that welcomed operatives from all the armed forces: G.I.Joe! He was one of the organization's very first members. As such, Craig was present on that fateful mission that resulted in the extreme disfigurement of Snake-eyes, as well as many other of the group's most important operations, like the assault on Springfield (then Cobra's headquarters), and the Cobra Island civil war. Like his good friend Clutch, Craig also found himself inadvertently involved in several encounters with Cobra operatives while actually on leave or temporarily off of active duty rosters; one such encounter involved his '56 Bel Air Nomad being crashed and burned thanks to the thuggish Dreadnoks. Another such ruined vacation involved Clutch and Craig's inadvertent discovery of another Cobra controlled town, the result of which saw him and his pal getting mentally reprogrammed by the insane Doctor Mindbender to destroy the G.I.Joe base upon their return to it. The brainwashing didn't take too well, however, and once inside the so-called Pit, both Craig and Clutch managed to overcome their mind control simply because they were both extremely stubborn, and since their natural morals were stronger than those imposed by the good Doctor. Times change, however, and late in 1994 the G.I. Joe team was disbanded. During this time, Craig went on a sort of Zen quest for the greatest wave, touring various beaches around the world for this elusive quarry. He never found it, though, because several years later the G.I. Joe team was reactivated. Anxious to see old friends and continue the fight for freedom, Craig returned to the team, and participated in its first battle against a renewed Cobra organization. He has since remained with the group, as it continues to battle its eternal enemy even to this day...
