Origin:

As are most all of his fellow Joes, Albert M. Pine is naught but a normal human, lacking ascendant abilities of any stripe. No, Albert has no mutant powers, psionic schooling, or even built-in devices - he just makes do with a whole lot of talent, training, and of course sheer determination.

Known Powers:

(none)

Equipment:

Assault Rifle:
his standard weapon in battle, even if the specific model changes from time to time, Albert always has one of these with him on the job. Albert can trigger this weapon to inflict Good (10) Shooting damage in a semi-auto burst, or Excellent (20) Shooting damage in a full-auto spread.

Climbing Gear: vital to his military specialty, this gear allows Albert to ascend most vertical surfaces in the wild. It includes a whole lot of rope, grappling hooks, crampons, pitons, a pickaxe, and occasionally a grappling hook rifle (to reach farther than he can throw one).

Knife: vital for some climbing tasks, not to mention general military necessity, Albert usually has one of these implements on his person. Made from Incredible (40) m.s. metals, it can be used to cut through items of like m.s., and can be wielded in melee to inflict Albert's Str +1 CS in Edged Attack damage.

Semi-Automatic Pistol: as a back-up for his assault rifle, Albert also has at least one of these on his person in the field. Albert can wield this small hand-cannon to inflict Typical (6) Shooting damage with a single shot, or Good (10) Shooting damage in a semi-auto burst of fire.

Quirks:

(none)

Talents:

Climbing:
his true love, Albert was a recreational climber before he joined the armed forces. Taking advantage of this, his recruiter made sure that Albert got a job as a mountain trooper, allowing Albert to fight the forces of evil while climbing the most difficult mountains on earth - and Albert has never been happier!

Guns: like his martial arts style, Albert mastered this skill in Army Basic, and has honed it ever since. He can operate any standard, semi-automatic or fully automatic rifle or pistol, and even oddball guns like his harpoon rifle, as though his Agy was +1 CS higher than is listed above.

Martial Arts type B: thanks to the Army's various self defense training and other Basic education, Albert can easily defend himself should he wind up unarmed for some reason. Whether punching, kicking, or even giving someone a head butt, Albert may do so at his Ftg score +1 CS.

Mathematics: before he joined the military, Albert was an accountant by trade. By necessity, this involves a wacky amount of tricky math, not just the kind given to a body in a three hour course in tax return preparation. Albert's Rsn in all aspects of financial accounting should be +1 CS to the rating listed above.

Military / United States: feeling unchallenged by the life of an accountant, Albert joined the military to be all he could be - and that he has indeed done. He knows military protocols and procedures like the back of his hand, and can easily lead fighting men and women into battle when necessary.

Contacts:

As a long-standing member of the G.I. Joe team, Albert can naturally rely upon most of the team for assistance in a pinch - particularly his good buddy, Bazooka. Albert also has numerous other contacts in military and finance circles, being both an accomplished mountain climber and accountant.

Costume:

Albert's first G.I. Joe field uniform is simple and utilitarian considering his military specialty. It includes brown trousers, a white T-shirt beneath a green and black jacket, green leather climbing boots, green and brown leather gloves, a pair of goggles, and a black baseball cap.

Personality:

Albert is the kind of guy who likes to look a challenge in the eye and beat it cold - whether it be a ten thousand foot high mountain or two years' worth of incomplete financial records. A lot of this determination is a cathartic release from some of his childhood oddities, while some is just high self-confidence.

Real Name: Albert M. Pine
Occupation: G.I. Joe mountain trooper, former accountant
Legal Status: citizen of the United States with no known criminal record
Marital Status: married
Alias(es), if any: none
Group Affiliation: G.I. Joe

Height: 6' 1"
Hair: black
Eyes: brown

Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Albert used to wear a moustache, but he's adopted a full beard since the Joe team was taken apart back in '94.

Story:

Albert grew up surrounded by mountains in scenic Minidoka, Idaho, seeing the things all around him. This tended to give him a slightly fenced in feeling, and when he got out of college the man took to mountain climbing as a recreational sport - mostly in order to defeat that notion of captivity.

He spent several years as an accountant for a noted publishing firm, but after growing bored with this he enlisted in the Army. There they transformed him into a highly skilled mountain trooper, taking advantage of the skills he'd already mastered before enlisting - that and his knack for accounting, that is.

When not balancing his battalion's books, for instance, Albert was constantly honing his skills as a mountain combatant, a trait that eventually saw him being recruited onto the G.I. Joe team. On his very first mission, Albert had to scale a truly impressive mountain: the volcano on Cobra Island!

Though dormant, this rock had just been freshly raised from the ocean floor but months ago, making for a particularly harrowing climb. Since he was there to rescue a fellow Joe, Rip-Cord, Albert didn't mind the risks. After all, how often does a body get to climb up something as uncommon as that?

Since his mission (and that of the other Joes who came to Cobra Island with him) was successful, after a fashion, Albert wound up staying with the Joes for quite a while, though most of his specific jobs, including one involving a Nazi war criminal and antiquated chemical weapons, remain classified.

A member of the team since he first joined up in '85, Albert was cut alongside everybody else when the team was mothballed ten years later. Luckily, the man has other, non-martial skills to fall back on, and he simply returned to accounting once he was discharged from the Army.

The Joe team was eventually reassembled, though, after Cobra made a big-time come-back several years later. While he didn't initially hook back up with the team, Albert did so after accepting a high-paying job that turned out to be for a Cobra front company - this disrupted his family's entire life, after all.

He came back just in time to join the team on yet another Cobra Island civil war, one instigated by a resurrected Serpentor and his mysterious 'Coil' organization. Surviving this initial battle, Albert has been on the team ever since, lending his unique skills to the war against worldwide terror!
