Sgt. Slaughter
Strength 10c |
Agility 5c |
Intellect 5x |
Willpower 9b |
Known Powers:
(none)
Equipment:
Baton: more of a ceremonial item than anything else, this item is a wooden stick (with a golden tip) that is about a foot long. While the Sarge could presumably use it in melee, he'd probably just break it since he's so darn strong. As such, it's more of a prop for the man while acting as a drill instructor.
Knife: since you never know when you'll need to cut through something (or someone), the Sarge always carries a knife with him in the field. Made from strength 12 metals, this blade can be used to cut through items of like strength, and allows Sgt. Slaughter to inflict +2 damage in melee.
Semi-Automatic Pistol: though he much prefers to dish out damage with his fists, or when putting a body in a headlock, Sgt. Slaughter does carry arms while in the field. This semi-automatic hand cannon can be fired to inflict damage per a +4 weapon with a single shot, +5 in a small burst of fire.
Hindrances:
(none)
Skills:
Boxing: tough as nails, the Sarge can throw down with the best of them. In personal combat, the man can divide his pre-cardplay action score between two unarmed melee attacks, the last of which will occur as a contingent action. Of course, he can also make these at a reduced difficulty level...
Marksmanship: one of many talents that the Sarge picked up in his own boot camp, this skill represents his ability to fire most any firearm in battle. Whether it be a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol, Sgt. Slaughter may fire it at a reduced difficulty level.
Martial Arts: the Sarge is a master of hand to hand combat; not supernatural-style like Snake-Eyes, but in meat and potatoes fighting, Sgt. Slaughter can easily hold his own. He can attempt actions to dodge attacks and lower falling damage at a reduced difficulty level.
Military / United States: the source of all his other talents, this 'background' skill describes the Sarge's inherent love for the military life, as it allows him an innate understanding of military protocols and procedures. Furthermore, this skill lets him lead fighting folk into battle if necessary.
Survival: in addition to his supreme abilities as a drill instructor, Sgt. Slaughter is also a survival instructor, able to pass on the skills needed to collect enough food, water, and shelter to get by in almost any climate, under any conditions. A teacher of such material, the Sarge naturally can use it himself.
Teaching: it may go without saying, but Sgt. Slaughter is one of the meanest, hardest drill instructors on the earth - and as a result, one of the best. He knows just how to present a lesson on in such a manner that, no matter how hard a body may resist, he'll learn something - and maybe grow in the process.
Wrestling: if the Sarge inflicts damage in unarmed melee, he may attempt an average difficulty Strength (strength) action against his foe as a contingent action; if this action succeeds, he has achieved a hold, and may inflict like damage each exchange until dislodged. This is a world-class skill.
Calling:
Mentor, with a secondary calling of Soldier: sure, the Sarge is a born and bred Marine - it's seemingly in his genes - but the man isn't just about P.T. No, he acts the way he does, and is as mean as he is to his charges, in order to bring out the best in them - and enable them to survive anything.
Costume:
The Sarge's fourth, Slaughter's Marauders uniform, was another variation on his first. It consists of a dark green pair of trousers (with a curious green and brown 'camo' pattern), a blue tank top, black leather boots, a black leather belt, flesh-tone wrist bands, a whistle, blue sunglasses, and a green 'Smokey the Bear' hat.
Personality:
As one can guess from the legends surrounding the man, the Sarge is one of the single most toughest men you'll ever meet - bar none. He's tough because he has to be though, for he takes his responsibility as the trainer of fighting men and women very seriously, wanting them all to grow up as strong as himself.
In character, at least, if not in raw brute strength.

Story:
The one and only Sgt. Slaughter was born on Parris Island, home of the toughest Marines on earth - and it's as though all that coarse meanness rubbed off on him as a wee youth. There's a litany of rumors and legends surrounding the man, though they're all well-earned... if somewhat hyperbolic.
They say that the Sarge cut his teeth on a bogey wheel, and that his first words were "Semper Fi." They say he eats nails and spits out dum-dum bullets. They say he shaves with a blowtorch, brushes his teeth with barbed wire, and combs his hair with a rat-tail file. 'They' say a lot about the Sarge.
Sure, the man likes to march on the backs of his boots when they're doing finger push-ups in the soggy mud, and is known for issuing forth a litany of curses and profanity at the men when he's training them, but that's just part of the job; his goal is to make all of his trainees just as tough as he is.
Keeping this in mind, he was brought onto the Joe team to help them stay on top of their game. After all, more than half of the Joes are qualified to be drill instructors themselves, so who else do you get to keep such people in line, but the single baddest man the Marines have ever produced?
While he does put the Joes through their paces, it is the job of the Sarge to reign in and make somewhat 'coarse' G.I. Joe operatives the best they can be. This is something he did with the Renegades, a group of three people he personally hand-picked to be a sort of G.I. Joe 'dirty tricks' squad.
These three ultra-violent maniacs weren't Joe material - much less fit for regular society - until the Sarge got through with 'em. Now, these guys are the hardest bunch of guys to work under the Joe team's direction - even if they're not officially Joes; they do the stuff that even the Joes can't touch.
Once he was happy with these guys, the Sarge took it upon himself to get a squad of already-competent Joes together, and make them the single toughest combat unit on the planet, bar none. The result of this challenge is the G.I. Joe unit known as Slaughter's Marauders... these Joes are hard core.
While he was in direct action with the Joes for a time - at least, while not pushing them past their limits - Sgt. Slaughter eventually settled into his primary role as a drill instructor, and did his level best to help Duke to screen out all but the absolute toughest, most skilled of new G.I. Joe recruits.
The Sarge filled this role until the G.I. Joe team itself was disbanded in '94. After this point, the man began a very successful professional wrestling career. Hey, why not?
