Equipment:

Helmet:
when in combat Phillip wears a helmet that provides him +2 protection from physical attacks that strike him in the head. He can attach a breathing mask hooked up to a 15 minute supply of oxygen stored in his backpack when jumping, one that sort of 'pushes' air into his lungs when in free-fall from an airplane jump.

Knife: utilitarian in the extreme, Phillip always carries a knife on his person; they're useful for cutting parachute straps or enemy combatants. Made from m.s. 12 metals, Phillip can use this knife to cut through objects of like m.s., or to inflict his Strength +2 damage in melee combat.

Machine Gun: his primary combat implement, Phillip carries plenty of ammunition for this beast in clips scattered about his person. He can fire this weapon to inflict his Agility +4 damage in a single shot, his Agility +5 damage in a short burst, or his Agility +6 damage in a full auto fire pattern.

Parachute: naturally useful when leaping out of an airplane (whether it's going to crash or just making a mid-air drop), Phillip obviously needs one of these when doing the whole Airborne Ranger thing. This item allows him to exit a flying vehicle from extreme heights and easily land on the ground without flattening himself.

Semi-Automatic Pistol: a backup should his machine gun be indisposed in a given encounter, Phillip keeps this weapon in a handy chest holster for quick access. It can be fired to inflict his Agility +4 damage in a single shot, or his Agility +5 damage in a semi-automatic, clip-burning hail of leaden pain.

Hindrances:

(none)

Skills:

Aerial Combat:
a trained Airborne Ranger, Phillip is well versed in the use of the sky as a battlefield. While he's not a pilot per se, he can nonetheless fight and maneuver with proficiency while in the air (if in a generally downward direction), and may utilize either his Strength or Agility to resolve combat actions while in the air.

Boxing: along with his talent with gunplay, this skill describes a large portion of Phillip's Army 'basic training'. He has been taught how to fight unarmed, using naught but his own body as a weapon, and may divide his pre-cardplay action score between two unarmed melee attacks - the last of which occurs as a contingent action.

Marksmanship: essential military training, Phillip has been educated in the fine art of killing things with high velocity projectiles. Whether he's firing a standard, semi-automatic or fully automatic rifle or pistol, or even weapons such as shotguns, Phillip may do so at one difficulty level lower than would otherwise be required.

Military / United States: the font of all his talents save for his education in Philosophy, this skill makes for a handy 'origin' skill for Philip. It allows him an instinctive understanding of military protocols and procedures, and grants him several additional job perks and benefits (like military support).

Philosophy: in addition to his impressive martial background, Phillip has also taken time out of his busy schedule to earn a degree - a Master's degree even - in Eastern Philosophy. In addition to giving him a reduced difficulty on Intellect actions in this area of knowledge, this skill also gives Phillip a very... unique outlook on the Army Way.

Survival: as an Airborne Ranger, Phillip has been trained to function almost indefinitely in enemy territory without support. As such, he can almost always scrounge up enough food, water and shelter to get by in the field - at least long enough to complete whatever mission he's on and get back to base.

Calling:

Soldier,
with a secondary calling of Gloryhound: Phillip loves the life he leads, whether he's jumping out of an airplane with a knife between his teeth or subsisting for months of snakes and bugs. Of course, he's also very good at what he does, and has the habit of reminding people of it - constantly.

Costume:

When diving into action with the Joes, Phillip wears a brown and green camo pattern jacket over a light brown T-shirt, brown and green camo pattern trousers, gray leather boots, gray leather gloves, a gray leather belt, gray webbing to hold his pistol and other gear, and a dark green helmet with a breathing mask attached (when jumping).

Personality:

Phillip is an odd duck, in that while most people suffer through Airborne Ranger training, he loved every single torturous minute of it. But then he's a nigh-limitless font of energy with a limitless drive for pushing past his own limitations - none of which he acknowledges, as he sports one of the biggest egos on the G.I. Joe team!

Story:

Phillip is one sick puppy. While most people would consider the Airborne Ranger training program to be just a bit 'hellish', this guy enjoyed every minute of it. It didn't matter if he was jumping out of airplanes or out in the woods eating snakes and whatever else he could manage to find and kill, he had a blast the whole time.

Most of this stems from Phillip's almost unlimited drive to succeed and sheer indefatigable gumption. Phillip's got an ego the size of the Grand Canyon, but it's hard to fault the man when you know he's not really boating about his prowess so much as simply aware of what he's capable of - both in and out of combat.

The man can run faster, jump higher, and do more push-ups than anyone who survived Ranger School. In addition to this exceptional physical fitness, Philip also sports a Master's degree in Eastern Philosophy, demonstrating a mental acuity you wouldn't expect from someone who enjoys sitting in the woods eating water bugs all night.

This combination of disciplines and martial prowess made Phillip a true standout, and the powers that be decided he'd make a great G.I. Joe operative - assuming he didn't wash out in the grueling Joe entry exam. Whether or not it was actually difficult for Phillip the world will never know - it's not like he'd admit it anyway.

Regardless, he made it on to the Joe team as expected, and proceeded to work for the team in various highly classified 'special missions', the nature of which have yet to be revealed to this very day. Phillip nonetheless served with distinction until the G.I. Joe team was temporarily mothballed in 1994.

'Temporary' wasn't originally in the cards, but as it turned out the team was needed but a few years after it was dismantled by the bureaucracy. When it came back into being, the G.I. Joe organization was a lot more public than before, however, and consisted of several veteran Joes leading a small company of 'greenshirt' troops.

Phillip was not selected to be a member of this revamped G.I. Joe team. However, it's most likely that he, along with every other former Joe that didn't 'make the cut', is ready and willing to serve again in the fight against the evils perpetrated by Cobra and other terrorist organizations bent on destroying freedom!
