Rampart (deceased) F A S E R I P Res Pop Gd 10 Ex 20 Ty 6 Gd 10 Ex 20 Gd 10 Gd 10 Ex 20 Sh 0 Health: 46 Karma: 40 Origin: Just like almost all of his fellow G.I. Joe teammates, Dwayne is simply a normal human - albeit a highly trained one. He has no super human powers to speak of (unless you count his inherent ability with video games), relying solely on his natural and trained skills, not to mention a whole lot of firepower, to get the job done. Known Powers: (none) Equipment: the Joe-Com *: upon rejoining the G.I. Joe team, Dwayne was given this device. It is a high-tech wristband that functions as an audio/video transceiver with a Typical (6) - 250 mile - range, is equipped with a G.P.S. system, a heart monitor, and can store up to a terabyte of raw data - not bad, eh? Of course, this device also stores a variety of nutrients it can use to supplement activity, which are absorbed directly into one's pores (think of this as Feeble (2) life support, where food is concerned). So, not only is the thing a nice, high tech video phone, but it can also save one's life in a pinch! Knife: a backup should he run out of ammo on his machine gun, Dwayne carries a knife on him at all times, whether on or off the job. Made from Incredible (40) m.s. materials, Dwayne can use this tool to cut through items of like m.s., or instead inflict Edged Attack damage on living, breathing targets (you know, the bad guys). Machine Gun: his secondary armament, used when he's already expended his rockets or fighting conventional ground forces, Dwayne wields this weapon with a stabilizing arm attached to his belt. It can fire a small burst of lead to inflict Good (10) Shooting damage, or a full-auto spread to inflict Excellent (20) Shooting damage. Rocket Launcher: his primary combat implement, this weapon allows Dwayne to shoot down incoming missiles (or aircraft, whichever happens to be necessary) from an earth-based position. Dwayne's launcher fires air defense artillery missiles (ground to air weapons), missiles possessed of the following vehicular statistics: C S B Damage Rm 30 Am 50 Gd 10 Remarkable (30) Fragmentary (EA) * The Joe-Com is something that the Joes started using in their new (as of 2001) comic, but wasn't featured on the Rampart figure (which was released in 1990). Quirks: Rank Increase / Agility: assisting him in his duties as an ADA missile specialist, not to mention his favorite past-time (video games), this quirk demonstrates Dwayne's uncannily accurate and fast reflexes. Thanks to this quirk, Dwayne receives a permanent +1 CS to his Agility score (already applied above). Talents: Guns: thanks to his uncanny hand-eye coordination and reflexes, it didn't take all that much training to make Dwayne proficient in the use of firearms (save for cleaning, etc...). When firing standard, semi-automatic or fully automatic rifles or pistols, Dwayne may do so as though his Agility was +1 CS higher than listed above. Marksman: his basic ticket to fame, this talent describes Dwayne's skill with all manner of line of sight and rocket-propelled weapon systems. Whether firing a mortar, a light anti-tank weapon, or controlling a wire-guided surface to air missile, Dwayne may do so at a +1 CS to the Agility rank listed above. Martial Arts type B: while his main talents lie in computerized attack systems, Dwayne can nonetheless defend himself unarmed should the need arise. Thanks to this basic training in the fine arts of melee combat, Dwayne may attempt any unarmed attack maneuver as though his Fighting score was +1 CS higher than indicated above. Military / Unites States: the source of all his practical combat skills, this talent serves as an 'origin' of sorts for Dwayne - his uncanny video game prowess notwithstanding. Thanks to his intense Navy training, Dwayne has an inherent understanding of military protocols and procedures (you know, the S.O.P.). Contacts: A part of the G.I. Joe team since 1990, Dwayne may count on the two hundred or so military men and women who have shared this elite membership for aid under almost any reasonable circumstances - the Joes take care of each other, no matter what, being fully aware just what each is capable of (and has faced in the past). Costume: When in action with the Joes, Dwayne wears a somewhat heavy outfit (good for keeping warm on the coast at night). It consists of a large, dark brown leather jacket, khakis colored trousers, black leather gloves, black and green camo leather boots, a blue visor, a khakis colored hat, and a khakis colored hood. Personality: Dwayne is a true gamer at heart, and spends almost all of his spare time mastering video games as they are released. He's not quite the shut-in you'd expect from such a person, however; he seems to enjoy working with others towards a common goal - especially if said goal involves blowing the crap out of enemy missiles and aircraft. Real Name: Dwayne A. Felix, Grade E-4 Occupation: shoreline defender, air defense artillery missile specialist Legal Status: citizen of the United States with no known criminal record Marital Status: single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: G.I. Joe Height: 5' 10" Hair: brown (?) Eyes: brown Weight: 155 lbs. Other Distinguishing Characteristics: none. Story: Dwayne was gifted at birth with abnormally acute reflexes and reaction speed. Nothing quite superhuman, mind you, just exceptional talent in these areas. This lended itself to a youth spent with a joystick in hand, and there wasn't a day that went by where you wouldn't find Dwayne in an arcade - or in front of his Atari. By the time he'd graduated college, the man had mastered every video game that had been published to date, and Dwayne found himself... lacking a real challenge. Much less reliable income. As it turned out, he found a way to feed his need for high intensity computerized action with a steady job: he joined the Navy! Specializing in air defense artillery, Dwayne quickly grew to notoriety by attaining the highest combat success ratio in the 7th fleet for 'splashing' enemy aircraft with high speed projectiles. He found that he got the ultimate rush from smashing enemy heat seeking rockets just feet from their target with his own missiles. Combining his job and his passion thus, it was only a matter of time before the mysterious recruiters behind the G.I. Joe organization decided he'd make a perfect addition to that group. Thinking this yet another step up the thrill ride of his military career thus far, Dwayne joined the G.I. Joe team as the one and only Rampart. He definitely didn't swipe that codename from the game of the same name, nope nope. After surviving the truly brutal G.I. Joe entry exam, Dwayne was quickly put to use, his first documented action with the team being a mission into the Middle Eastern nation of Benzheen, performing backup with Backblast for a stealth mission flown by Ghost Rider and Slipstream at the very end of the Joes' participation in the war there. The rest of Dwayne's missions with the G.I. Joe team have been similarly classified, 'special missions', the details of which have yet to be revealed to the general public - much less Dwayne's fellow Joes. It is known that Dwayne was a member of the G.I. Joe team until it was deactivated by the powers that be in late 1994. It is unknown if Dwayne retired from the military at this time or returned to the Navy, though a majority of the Joes seemed to have reassumed conventional postings after the team was disbanded. This, of course, until the team was reactivated anew but a few years later. This time around, though, the team had a different structure. It primarily consisted of a small company of 'greenshirt' Joes led by a couple of veterans from the old team. As things went, Dwayne was not brought in to this second incarnation of the G.I. Joe team at first, though he was eventually 'invited' back to the team for an assault on Cobra Island and its then-current occupants, the Coil. Dwayne continued on with his second stint with the Joes after this operation, though things went bad on a mission in Brazil with Glenda and Hardball. Looking in on a suspected Cobra base, the trio found their targets dead, just in time to become, themselves, the targets of a hit squad operated by another terrorist outfit, the Red Shadows.
