Equipment:
Comm Suite: Edwin has always carried a communications suite with him on missions, in order to call in medical evacuations of wounded personnel. These systems, usually consisting of a backpack with a helmet-mounted mouthpiece, work with intensity 5 power (100 mile range).
Dagger: though he won't use it in an offensive capacity, Edwin always carries at least one knife with him on missions - you never know when you'll need a sharp edge. This blade, carried in a boot sheath when not in use, is made from strength 12 metals, and can cut through objects of like m.s.
First-Aid Kit: his stock in trade, Edwin always carries a first aid kit with him on missions. His first aid gear consists of various medicines, antibiotics, drugs, sterilized medical tools, and even a small oxygen tank. Sometimes, he even carries extra first aid gear in various pouches and such.
Hindrances:
(none)
Skills:
Electronics: while his primary medical specialty is in the dispensation of first aid, Edwin has demonstrated a mental prowess with the modification and repair of electronic devices in the past. Whenever building, fixing, or altering electronics, Edwin should make applicable actions at a reduced difficulty level.
First Aid: Edwin has been a paramedic for many, many years. When treating a dying person, he can make use of a limited form of the Medicine skill, allowing him to restore one card worth of lost Health to a body who was k.o.'d in the last exchange with an average difficulty Intellect action.
Martial Arts: an avowed pacifist, Edwin does not believe in bringing harm to others. However, he won't just stand around and let somebody hurt him. To this end, he has become a black belt in Aikido, a Zen martial arts tradition with no offensive moves whatsoever.
This allows him to attempt actions to dodge attacks or reduce falling damage at a one difficulty level lower than would otherwise be required. Furthermore, by deflecting violent energies away from himself, Edwin can cause his foes to inflict the damage they intended for him upon themselves.
This is done by a series of throws that, while inoffensive, will cause punches, kicks, and charges to fly away from himself and into inanimate objects in his vicinity. Edwin can attempt this as a contingent action, and this technique is a average difficulty Agility (agility) action against his opponent(s).
Military / United States: though a registered non-combatant, Edwin is nonetheless a member of the United States Army, and as such has had to go through most of the same training that the rest of the armed forces have. As such, he knows military protocols and procedures like the back of his hand.
Calling:
Protector: Edwin believes in the sanctity of human life, and does his best to protect it from harm. He does his part to support these beliefs by refusing to harm another being by his own actions, and by patching up those who have been wounded due to violence or other calamity.
Costume:
Edwin's third uniform is the same as his first. It consists of a red pair of trousers with 'rescue' dyed in white down the left leg, a tan T-shirt under a red jacket, white leather boots, a white leather belt, various white pouches and straps, a white boot sheath, green sunglasses, and a red helmet with a clear visor.
Personality:
Edwin is a paramedic who has dedicated himself to saving lives, and felt that he could be best served in doing so as a member of the Army. Of course, he's a true pacifist, which tends to irk some of his more trigger-happy comrades, but he more than makes up for this with sheer gumption.

Story:
Edwin has always believed in the sanctity of life, and will never willingly harm any being. Wishing to do his part to save lives, the man became a paramedic in the Seattle Fire Department, but was dismayed to learn that EMS personnel disabled while giving aid off-duty didn't qualify for pension benefits.
You see, in his mind, Edwin felt that medical personnel were never off-duty. As such, he decided to make his status permanent by joining up with the Army. While an avowed pacifist, he felt that he could nonetheless work to save the lives of America's fighting men when they were injured.
It is important to note that, while a pacifist, Edwin is no pushover, and has worked hard to become a black belt in Aikido in order to defend himself (while at the same time being non-aggressive). His sheer tenacity got him noticed by military high-ups, and eventually Edwin earned a position on the G.I. Joe team.
Naturally, his beliefs tend to come into conflict with those of his teammates, especially Leatherneck and Lift-Ticket, but the latter at least respects his courage. Regardless, most Joes don't argue with Edwin's feelings on the matter of violence because he's always there to pull them out of harm's way.
They tended to show him even more respect after poor Doc was killed in Trucial Abysmia on a particularly grisly Joe operation, as Doc (who had beliefs similar to Edwin himself) died trying to save his fellows. Whether he's serving in a regular capacity or with Tiger Force, Edwin is a force to be reckoned with!
In fact, after he joined the G.I. Joe team, Edwin remained with the unit until it was temporarily shut down in '94; temporarily, of course, because it was brought back much sooner than anybody thought would be necessary. During this 'down time', Edwin completed a medical education he started back in '91.
When the G.I. Joe team was reinstated, Edwin left his position as a doctor in the Walter Reed Medical Center and resumed the fight against the diabolical forces of Cobra. He's been associated with the team ever since, either in an active or reserve status, depending on the needs of the team as a whole.
