Equipment:

Arctic Gear:
when on the job in the cold, Clifton always wears an insulated, fur-lined winter coat, some sort of face protection (goggles and/or a frost-free face mask), a knitted hat of some sort, insulated boots (with crampons), insulated trousers, and if without a vehicle, skis and ski poles.

Beretta 9mm Pistol: on any mission he may find himself, Clifton will usually carry this standardized Army firearm. This semi-automatic handgun can be fired to inflict damage per a +4 weapon in a single shot, or damage per a +5 weapon in a semi-automatic hail of lead.

Jet-powered Snowboard: a rather entertaining vehicle that Clifton makes use of while navigating the snow-bound landscapes that are his specialty, this was an otherwise-normal snowboard that had been retrofitted with a small rocket thruster. This odd vehicle can move with intensity 5 speed!

Knife: Clifton always carries a blade with him on missions, for you never know when you need to cut something. This knife (an 'Arctic Assault Razor-Edged Machete' in his '93 arsenal) is made from strenght 12 metals, and allows him to inflict +2 damage in melee.

Rifle: Clifton's primary combat implement while a member of the G.I. Joe team is a simple rifle, bucking the trend that his team-mates follow with their rather large, fully automatic arms. This gun can be fired to inflict damage as would any other +5 weapon per shot, and has eight rounds per clip.

Rocket Launcher: for a short time, Clifton carried about this rather heavy, though rather deadly implement of destruction. The camouflaged, laser-guided (for a +1 to hit) missiles that it fires inflict intensity 10 damage to everyone within striking (near missile) distance of where they detonate.

XJT Baseball Grenades: Clifton always has two of these handy explosive devices regardless of his other mission-based gear, explosives he can use to inflict intensity 10 (fragmentary) damage to everyone within striking (near missile) distance of where they detonate (who isn't under cover).

Hindrances:

(none)

Skills:

Boxing:
one of the 'standard' abilities he picked up in the Army, refined by years with the Joes, this skill describes Clifton's unarmed fighting ability. When engaged in unarmed melee, Clifton can divide his pre-cardplay action score between two attacks, the last of which will occur as a contingent action.

Marksmanship: another universal skill he picked up in basic training, this talent allows Clifton to use most any gun in battle. Whether it be a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol, or even an oddball firearm like a shotgun, Clifton may use it at a reduced difficulty level.

Military / United States: the wellspring from which most of Clifton's talents derive from, this 'background' skill describes his inherent understanding of military protocols and procedures. In addition to this, though, the military skill allows Clifton to lead fighting men into battle if he must.

Piloting: Clifton has demonstrated the ability to fly fixed-wing aircraft in the past, though it is unclear if he acquired this knowledge in the Army or before then. Regardless of where it came from, this skill allows Clifton to make flight-based actions at a reduced difficulty level.

Skiing: his love of the snow has caused Clifton to learn how to ski - a sport he engages in whenever possible while off the job, and when on the job, he even uses it aboard his jet-powered snowboard! When operating this device (or regular skis), Clifton can make applicable Agility actions at a lower difficulty.

Survival: it's no secret that Clifton loves the cold - as such, he's learned just about everything one needs to in order to get around in the harshest of earth's cold climes. If stranded in a cold environ, Clifton can easily find enough food, water, and shelter to get by until he can get himself out of said situation.

Teaching: as his secondary military specialty, Clifton has been charged with the education of his fellow soldiers in the fine art of cold weather survival. Just knowing what to do isn't enough, though; he has been trained how to dispense information to others, and make it 'stick' properly.

Calling:

Soldier:
Clifton, for the most part, joined the Army in order to get away from his intolerably warm home town. However, once he grew accustomed to the military, as well as the fight against Cobra, the man found that he respected his duty to give his all to Uncle Sam, and has no problem doing his part.

Costume:

Clifton's second uniform was slightly... brighter than his first. He wore white insulated trousers, a white insulated jacket (with gray camo blotches on it), white insulated boots (with green stripes on them), a white leather belt, bright yellow insulated gloves, a bright yellow face mask, and gray webbing.

Personality:

Clifton hates heat - he always has, and always will. That's why he prefers to work in the Arctic (or Antarctic, depending), and which is why he tries to keep his cool at all times; he knows that one mistake while 'on the job' will kill him. That's also why he makes sure he's really darn good at what he does...

Story:

Clifton grew up nice and toasty Brownsville, Texas - and he grew up to truly loathe the heat. You see, the Brownsville summers get so hot that you can literally spit on the concrete and watch it sizzle away. In fact, while his peers saved their allowance for bicycles, he saved his own to buy an air conditioner.

As such, when he enlisted in the Army, he requested that he get to serve in Alaska, and got his wish. While there, he became a true expert in cold weather survival, so much so in fact that he is qualified to spread his knowledge to other soldiers. His love for the cold made him very, very adept in surviving it.

His skill in cold weather maneuvers got him noticed by the G.I. Joe team, who snatched him up to enhance their ever-growing corps of special-environment soldiers. Naturally, the Joes used Clifton's talents often during their snow-bound adventures, the first of which occurred in the tiny nation of Frusenland.

He was part of a special team sent in to the Arctic nation to back up the newest G.I. Joe research and development team, the so-called Battleforce 2000, as Cobra was moving in on the country. They were selling Frusenland a bunch of Terror Dromes to rile up a combative atmosphere, you see.

The Joes didn't know that the Dromes emitted paranoia-inducing radio waves just yet - not until they fell under the influence of them, at least. This caused the Joes on this mission to begin acting rather hostile and erratically, though this didn't stop them from giving the Cobra forces after them quite a pounding.

Ultimately, though, Clifton and his fellows were rescued by the Battleforce 2000 Joes, who'd figured out what Cobra's Terror Dromes were really doing, and knocked them out. Armed with this knowledge, the Joes convinced the Prime Minister of Frusenland to evict the Cobra presence from his country.

Another mission Clifton was involved with was the retrieval of one Cullen Esterhazy, a C.I.A. operative that was assigned to assist the opposition to Chinese rule of the tiny Himalayan nation of Chomo Lungma, after that Communist nation absorbed the tiny mountain country back in the sixties.

He was supposed to come back home after Nixon got on well with the Chinese, but quit and continued to help the locals resist the Chinese military. This became something of an embarrassment, so Iceberg, along with Chuckles, Scarlett, and Snake-Eyes were sent with C.I.A. Agent Anderson to collect him.

This led to a protracted string of misadventures after these Joes met Esterhazy, which ultimately led to the Joes being stranded in Southeast Asia for quite a while. The four ultimately managed to get out in one piece, though, and returned to the States to continue on as Joes until the team was shut down in '94.

What exactly Clifton did to occupy his time between then and the time the G.I. Joe team was reactivated several years later has yet to be revealed, but the man did hook up with his fellow defenders of liberty when they put out the call, and he's been a member of the Joe team ever since!
