Night Force

"I see a line of cars and they're all painted black" - Rolling Stones

Hawk has this to say about the Night Force: "When the sun goes down, the Gi Joe Night Force squad is ready for action! Night Force is a covert team specializing in nighttime surveillance and defense operations. Missions conducted in the darkness have special problems, which the Night Force has overcome with enhanced skills, sophisticated hardware and advanced technology.

"They use the element of surprise to vanquish the enemy, striking under cover of darkness and disappearing into the night, mission accomplished!" Marketing concerns aside, the Joes' Night Force has been a tradition for years, ever since the first group was assembled back in '88, peopled with some of the Joes' best nighttime operatives, those guys who are not only good at fighting in the night - but enjoy it!

Night Force 1988:

Crazylegs: David was on his way to becoming one of the world's greatest organists, but ultimately his rather short fingers put the kibosh on that goal. Needing a direction, he instead enlisted in the Army, and now jumps out of airplanes while his internal sound track is playing Bach... Crazylegs comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Lieutenant Falcon: a second generation Green Beret, Lieutenant Vincent Falcone is himself a natural-born leader. The man excels at inspiring those who serve beneath him, and is a multi-lingual expert in all manner of counter-terrorist operations around the globe. Lieutenant Falcon comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Psyche-Out: wielding a doctorate in psychology and an expertise in predictive behavioral analysis and paranoia-inducing ultra low frequency radio waves, Kenneth is the perfect psy-ops expert for the Gi Joe team. He brings his mastery of others' actions to bear in all kinds of covert operations! Psyche-Out comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Outback: Stuart is the consummate survivalist - but then, as a survival and jungle warfare instructor, he'd better be, really. The man is at his happiest when he's living off the land, hiking and camping days away from civilization and immersing himself in the wilds that surround him! Outback comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Sneak Peek: growing up with a love of nature in eerie Bangor, Maine, Owen King joined the Army as soon as he could. Using his wilderness skills to become a fully qualified Army Ranger, Owen has since gone on to become one of the Gi Joe team's greatest reconnaissance operatives! Sneak Peek comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Tunnel Rat: after being raised on the rather surly streets of Brooklyn back in the day, Nicky grew up to be tough, indomitable, and somewhat jaded. Always looking for a good challenge, he's more than ready to climb into nasty Cobra tunnels to ferret out the bad guys! Tunnel Rat comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Night Force 1989:

Charbroil: Shannon grew up working with fire, whether he was heating water pipes with a blowtorch in rural Minnesota or shoveling charcoal into blast furnaces for a living. He's comfortable around the dangerous stuff, which makes him an excellent flamethrower for the Gi Joe team! Charbroil comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Lightfoot: described as a 'Zen fussbucket', Cory Owens is something of an expert demolitionist. He's memorized details of just about every explosive known to man, but since he knows how easily a bomb can kill a body, he's become ultra paranoid - and is always looking for boobytraps everywhere! Lightfoot comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Muskrat: born and raised in the swamps surrounding Thibodaux, Louisiana, Ross A. Williams grew up tough and quick. He breezed through his Ranger training and Jungle Warfare school as a result of his unique background, and easily made his way onto the Gi Joe team upon being invited! Muskrat comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Repeater: a long-serving Army Ranger, Jeffrey Therien enjoyed being a soldier, and was very good at it, but couldn't really hack the whole 'Army politics' thing. As such, he was directed to the Gi Joe team, where he can fight to defend freedom without ruffling oversensitive feathers. Repeater comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Shockwave: showing true bravery as a member of the Detroit S.W.A.T. team, Jason Faria wanted to use his skills for even more good, and applied for a position on the Gi Joe team as a result. Being accepted, he was trained up in the S.O.P. and made one of the Gi Joe team's experts in urban combat! Shockwave comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Spearhead & Max: an incredibly likable and persuasive insurance salesman, Peter Millman gave all that up to join the Army, possibly because he felt guilty about fleecing so many people of their hard-earned money. He proved just as charismatic in the military, and makes a great leader! Spearhead & Max come in Classic and Saga styles!

Night Force 2003:

Cross Hair: a master sniper with eerily good vision, Don is also unnaturally silent at times. He's good at creeping up on a body no matter where he happens to be hiding - a trait he seems to apply equally well to both Cobra goons and while playing pranks on his fellow Joes... Cross Hair comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Duke: before being recruited onto the Joe team, Conrad had a history of working in Special Ops, and brought that sneaky expertise to the team as its field leader. Second only to Hawk in the team's leadership, Duke has consistently led the Joes to victory against Cobra over the years! Duke comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Nunchuk: originally a student of the mysterious Blind Master, Ralph eventually came under the tutelage of Storm Shadow himself after his first sensei vanished, well, mysteriously. Soon after, he was skilled enough to join the Gi Joe team, as a part of their Ninja Force! Nunchuk comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Night Force 2004:

Action Man: the mysterious Action man was adopted by a world-famous rocket scientist, not to mention experimented on by a clandestine government group. Needless to say, this led to some drama in Action Man's formative years, and groomed him to be the Greatest Hero of All! Action Man comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Beach-Head: one of the hardest, meanest Rangers ever to come out of Fort Benning, Wayne is a perfect addition to the Gi Joe team, as his never-ending quest for personal perfection tends to rub off on others - even if it does so in a somewhat abrasive fashion...! Beach-Head comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Flint: joining the Army for the promise of adventure after he grew bored with the 'Groves of Academe', Dashiell used his innate smarts to excel in various areas of military expertise, and was recruited onto the Gi Joe team by an old acquaintance of his, the one and only Duke! Flint comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Grunt: after his enthusiasm helped him to graduate near the top of his class in his Advanced Infantry Training, Robert made quite a name for himself as an expert soldier in general. As such, he made the cut for the original Gi Joe team, and returns from time to time to help them out. Grunt comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Gung-Ho: one of the roughest and gruffest folk you'll ever meet, Ettienne was born and raised in a swamp. After joining the Marines, he proved himself time and time again, and has shown the same level of achievement as a long-standing member of the Gi Joe team! Gung-Ho comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Roadblock: aspiring to be one of the world's greatest chefs since he was a child, Marvin put himself through the Escoffier School in France - and then joined the Army to learn from their chefs. Little did anybody know he'd become one heck of a heavy machine gunner, too! Roadblock comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Short-Fuze: coming from two previous generations of Army guys, it was only natural that Eric would join with the Army himself. His natural mathematical capabilities made him a demon with a mortar, a skill which made him a candidate for the new Gi Joe team! Short-Fuze is available in Classic and Saga styles!

Wild Bill: William Hardy is one of the single most friendly people you'll ever meet, not to mention the greatest helicopter pilot you're likely to ever know. He's crashed more aircraft than most pilots actually fly, but then he's also seen more combat than them, as well...! Wild Bill comes in Classic and Saga styles!

Night Force 2005:

Equipment:

the Night Blaster: when the Gi Joe team captured several Cobra Maggots, those villains' newest anti-tank hardware, they decided to put 'em to good use. Refurbishing them for use within the Night Force, these powerful, three-part vehicles have become the Joe team's mighty Night Blasters! Comes in Classic and Saga styles!

the Night Boomer: when the Night Force needs a super-sonic fighter jet to take out serious targets in the dark, they call in the Night Boomer. A modified Grumman F-14 Tomcat, the Night Boomer is a super-sonic, swing-wing jet that's armed to the teeth, and is effective against ground or air targets. Comes in Classic and Saga styles!

the Night Force Grizzly: a massive tank that's the latest in a long time of Gi Joe artillery, the Patriot Grizzly is a powerful ground weapon used in more standardized combat against the legions of Cobra terrorists, assassins and genetically engineered freaks. Availability:

the Patriot Grizzly (MSH Classic)

the Patriot Grizzly (4C System)

the Patriot Grizzly (Marvel Saga)

the Night Raider: a powerful, yet small treaded vehicle, the Night Raider is what happened when the Night Force 'borrowed' the design for Sgt. Slaughter's Triple T. This former Tag Team Terminator has been given a darker paint job, along with muffled gear for extra stealthy operation in the dark. the Night Raider comes in Classic and Saga styles!

the Night Ray Hydrofoil: arguably Cobra's single greatest water-borne craft, the Moray is a high speed hydrofoil that lends itself to pursuit and attack missions. This is why the Gi Joe team 'appropriated' a few samples of the Moray, in order to creat their very own Night Ray fleet! The Night Ray comes in Classic and Saga styles!

the Night Ray II: the Moray Hydrofoil: arguably Cobra's single greatest water-borne craft, the Moray is a high speed hydrofoil that lends itself to pursuit and attack missions. This is why the Gi Joe team 'appropriated' a few samples of the Moray, in order to creat their very own Night Force fleet! The Moray comes in Classic and Saga styles!

the Night Scrambler: recently adopted by the Night Force, this heavy yet versatile, this armored troop carrier has been in the Gi Joe arsenal for many years. This because, in addition to being able to drive on land or water, it's a very safe conveyance for the Joes while on their way to a mission. The Night Scrambler comes in Classic and Saga styles!

the Night Shade: a mainstay of the Gi Joe naval arsenal for over twenty years, the S.H.A.R.C. is a vehicle ahead of its time, in that it is a submarine that can take to the air at a moment's notice. This is why the Night Force has made them their own, flying them in a stealthier black shade. The Night Shade comes in Classic and Saga styles!

the Night Storm: a small yet powerful vehicle, the Night Storm is essentially a rolling laser cannon. Built for defense while packing a staggering offense, this vehicle is a perfect fit for its driver, who can use it quickly and quietly against Cobra goons! the Night Storm comes in Classic and Saga styles!

the Night Striker: a heavily armed and armored hovercraft, the Night Striker can easily function on land or water - serving as either a patrol, assault or liaison vessel. Naturally, considering how Cobra behaves, the 'assault' portion is typically how the Joes roll this craft out! The Night Striker comes in Classic and Saga styles!
