Am +50 among Predacons / Decepticons, Am -50 among Autobots. Origin: As are his Combatron minions, Mega-Octane is an electromechanical being from Cybertron, an evil robot that has, with his compatriots, waged a war against the heroic Autobots in a bid to conquer the universe. This alien may also be from another time period, making him doubly out of place on earth. Known Powers: Cybertronian Physique: like his fellow Decepticons, Mega-Octane is a robotic entity of Cybertronian design and origin. As such, this incredibly powerful combatant has, by his very nature, the use of a large variety of abilities that reflect this. His very body gives Mega-Octane these super human powers: * Armor Skin: like most Cybertronians, Mega-Octane was built (or formed) with a reinforced steel frame, one that offers him Excellent (20) resistance to injury. This makes him immune to most basic human attack forms, and moderately resistant to his fellow robots. His defense breaks down as follows: Ex 20 / Ty 6 / Fe 2 / Sh 0 / Sh 0 * Growth: most Cybertronians have some degree of control over their size, no matter what form they take. Due to his significant height in his humanoid mode, Mega-Octane has this power via technicality; he may very well grow somewhat while transforming, but doesn't appear to do so. According to the standard Growth rules, Mega-Octane has this power at Remarkable (30) rank, making him stand approximately eighteen feet tall. Since his Strength rank is higher, this offers him no combat benefit, but on the other hand, human-sized folks targeting Mega-Octane receive a +1 CS to hit him in battle. The Ultimate Powers Book, on the other hand, gives Mega-Octane this power at Typical (6) rank, making him out to be three times a normal human's size. This would grant the militant Decepticon a +1 CS to the Strength score listed above (raising it to Amazing (50)), thus adding 10 points to his Health score. Now, according to the Transformers MSH Sourcebook, Mega-Octane's statistics are geared towards mixing it up with beings of like size. As such, when fighting folks of normal human size, he should receive a +2 CS to the damage he inflicts upon them (+1 CS per 2 CS of growth). Finally, per the Universal Heroes rules, Mega-Octane has a +1 size factor. As such, he inflicts +1 CS damage vs normal human opponents, and has 1 CS of Damage Reduction against them. On the other hand, he is at a -1 CS to hit them in combat, while they receive a +1 CS to hit him. * Microscopic / Telescopic Vision: all Transformers have the ability to alter their visual sensitivity as is necessary, where distance is concerned. Functioning at Feeble (2) rank, this power lets them see objects up to a mile distant with ease, as well as allowing them to read items on microfiche. * Radio Transceiver: as are most all Transformers on earth, Mega-Octane is equipped with an audio / video transmission system. This communications rig allows him instant contact with any other Decepticon or Predacon on earth, having Excellent (20) range (25,000 miles). * Invulnerability to Disease and Toxins: like all robots, Mega-Octane is highly resistant to diseases and poisons that would kill organic beings. He possesses this resistance at Class 1k rank versus organic pathogens, and at Unearthly (100) versus more chemically creative substances. Camouflage System: as do his fellow Combatrons, Mega-Octane seems to have a specialized camouflage system that he can use to blend into various environments (such as Arctic tundra). This system works at Feeble (2) rank, giving him a camo pattern appropriate to the background at hand. Gestalt: using this special power, Mega-Octane can combine his physical form with that of his fellow Combatrons. Working at Monstrous (75) rank, this ability can be used to create the ultra-powerful Ruination, one of the Decepticons' most powerful operatives! Sensor Suite: in addition to his built-in macro- and micro-vision, Mega-Octane is equipped with a bevy of additional sensors and display devices. Working at Monstrous (75) rank, this suite includes penetration vision, penetration hearing (a sort of sonar dingus) and a small hologram projector. Shapechange: Mega-Octane has the ability to shift his form between several modes as he sees fit. His vehicle mode is that of a flatbed truck, and is quite massive when you get down to it (especially when the rear is carrying a huge twin laser gun). Mega-Octane's vehicle form has these statistics: C S B P In 40 In 40 Ex 20 Gd 10 Of course, Mega-Octane is also technically a triple-changer, in that he can transform into a combat / repair station as well, one which can perform maintenance and such on his subordinate Combatrons. This gives him the use of the Repair / Tinkering skill naturally (it's built in, after all). Twin Laser Gun: mounted on Mega-Octane's back is a massive weapon - a twin laser cannon. He can wield this inherent device in either of his modes, using it to inflict Monstrous (75) Armor Piercing Energy damage per blast - a single laser blast does -1 CS damage. Also, Mega-Octane can use this weapon to simultaneously fire two missiles at an opponent. Now, if both of these projectiles manage to strike their target, Ruination can inflict Monstrous (75) fragmentary (Edged Attack) damage all at once. Otherwise, each individual missile has these vehicular characteristics: C S B Damage Am 50 Am 50 Ex 20 Amazing 50 Edged Attack Equipment: Dol-Laser Rifle: a powerful weapon that only he has the ability and skill to use, this massive, ten foot long firearm is Mega-Octane's favorite. He can use this devastating device to inflict Monstrous (75) Armor Piercing Energy Damage with each deadly blast - and he does so often. Restraint Shells: equipment that all the Combatrons carry, these shells can be fired from their primary weaponry to capture a foe, rather than kill him outright. Each shell casts an energy net around a foe that restrains him at Remarkable (30) rank, +1 CS for each additional shell used. Quirks: (none) Talents: Advanced Guns: though it may go without saying, Mega-Octane is very well-versed in the use of most advanced, energy-based weapons. He may use laser guns, blasters, and even particle cannons as though his Agility score was +1 CS higher than is listed above. Demolitions: though anybody can simply blast away at a structure until it comes down, Mega-Octane is skilled in the efficient destruction of most any edifice. He may make a Reason roll at +1 CS in order to determine the fastest way to destroy any building before him. Military: Mega-Octane was apparently a potent military leader even before he was corrupted by exposure to Megatron's spark energies. As such, he knows military protocols and procedures like the back of his hand, and can reflexively lead combat troops into battle at his leisure. Contacts: As the leader of the Combatrons, Mega-Octane can easily rely upon his subordinates for assistance whenever he demands it - his underlings wouldn't dare refuse his orders. Of course, Mega-Octane can naturally count the other Decepticons - and Predacons - on earth as reliable contacts as well. Likeness: In his vehicle mode, Mega-Octane appears to be a truck covered with a green and black camo pattern, with a large orange gun mounted on the back. His maintenance bay mode is similarly hued. In his robot form, Mega-Octane appears to be a machine built from green and orange truck parts. Personality: Mega-Octane is a cold, cruel general in the Decepticon army. He rules his subordinates with an iron fist, almost as though they were extensions of his own form - which literally becomes the case when he merges with them to form Ruination. He feels he should lead the Decepticons, but fears Scourge's power. Real Name: unrevealed Occupation: Decepticon warrior Legal Status: citizen of Cybertron wanted on earth for various crimes against humanity Marital Status: inapplicable Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: the Decepticons, the Combatrons Height: 18' (approximately) Hair: inapplicable Eyes: orange Weight: several tons Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Mega-Octane is composed of a strong alien metal that is primarily green and orange in hue, with a nifty green and black camo pattern in places, regardless of his form. Story: Mega-Octane's story is a tragic one. You see, he used to be an Autobot who, along with at least five of his fellows, had come to earth a good sixty years before the current force active on earth arrived. The nature of his mission has been lost, for his ship crash-landed for some unknown reason. Though he and his fellows lay dormant in stasis pods after the crash, they were eventually uncovered by the Autobots who arrived after them, but were quickly seized by Megatron. This villain, who was on earth to acquire the similarly dormant Fortress Maximus, needed additional minions to help him in this. As such, he activated the stasis pods containing Mega-Octane and his fellows, forcing them to scan in various military vehicles to disguise their robotic forms. As they were formatting themselves, though, Megatron exposed the Autobots in stasis to his own, diabolical spark energies, turning them evil. First to emerge from stasis, Mega-Octane proclaimed himself Megatron's servant, and assumed command of that villain's new Decepticons - all of which were his fellow, former Autobots. However, the most powerful of these new villains, Scourge, cowed Mega-Octane into becoming his subordinate instead. While Scourge may have taken charge of the Decepticons overall, Mega-Octane nonetheless commanded his fellow Combatrons, a sub-group of the Decepticons who have the power to combine their forms into one singular, massive robot - the highly dangerous Ruination. In this capacity, Mega-Octane and the other Decepticons served Megatron for a time, though their programming wore off somewhat; while they were still evil, per se, their independence began to reassert itself, and these Decepticons began to plot the demise of Megatron as well as the Autobots on earth. This plot reached its climax when Scourge took command of Fortress Maximus itself at one point, and attempted to use it to crush Galvatron (a super-charged version of Megatron). When this plan failed, Galvatron reprogrammed the Decepticons anew, making them totally beholden to his will. Naturally, this was a disappointment to Optimus Prime, who had repeatedly appealed to the Autobots within Mega-Octane and his fellows - but saw that 'rehabilitating' his former fellows was now a pipe dream. This because, though his free will was neutered, Mega-Octane was still a brilliant martial commander. He continued to lead his Combatrons in Galvatron's service until the villain sought to dispose of the traitors under his command in his final bid to annihilate the Autobots. This he did thanks to power he had absorbed from Fortress Maximus, but this plan ultimately failed in the end. Defeated by his own master, Mega-Octane was then reeled in when Galvatron himself was beaten, and the Autobots transferred him and all of Galvatron's other minions on earth (save for Sky-bite) to a penal asteroid near Cybertron proper. Mega-Octane may be there to this very day...!
