Origin:

Quincy Alvarez is a vampire, a formerly normal human (if an exceptionally good-hearted one) who was attacked by other vampires, and acquired their mystic powers - and curse - as a result. He's not like most other vampires, though, in that he's not evil so much as... kooky insane. A qualified crazy person, he has turned the acquisition of his powers into an excuse for swashbuckling adventure!

Known Powers:

Animal Sympathy: Quincy has the ability to control creatures commonly considered vermin, such as bats, rats, roaches, and wolves, at his Psyche (pre) rank +2 CS (or, to save one looking back and forth, Remarkable (30)). These creatures act as if they were an extension of Quincy's existence, and will gladly do whatever he commands, even if they happen to die in the process.

Bio-Vampirism: this dreaded blood-sucking attack allows Quincy to, in addition to causing Edged Attack damage with his fangs, inflict additional damage due to blood loss. Possessing this power at Good (10) rank, this allows the deranged vampire to drain a normal human dry in just one or two turns, though he usually directs it towards werewolves (which are, unfortunately for him, much less common...).

Body Transformation: all vampires have the ability to transform into at least two forms, one of which will be an animal, the other being a sort of misty cloud (of any preferable color). Quincy has the power to assume the form of both an intangible mist and a wolf (hence the weird part of his feeding derangement). The abilities that Quincy possesses in his various extra forms include:

* Mist: this form grants Quincy complete (Class 1k) resistance to physical and energy attack, as well as Feeble (2) ranked flight, though it doesn't allow him to attack at all. However, he has shown the ability to force his misty form into the lungs of an opponent, and thus gain mind control over them, per that power; of course, the would-be victim gets an Endurance FEAT roll to resist this...

* Wolf: though this form doesn't allow flight, it does offer improved attack and sensory capabilities over those of a bat. For one thing, Quincy can utilize a wolf's sense of smell at his Intuition (alt) score +1 CS (Incredible (40)), as well as Typical (6) ranked bite attacks (which can be used concurrently with his bio-vampirism power). He can also run at Poor (4) ground speeds (thirty miles per hour).

Fangs and Claws: Quincy is equipped with retractable fangs and claws, which grow out of ordinary teeth and fingernails, and allow him to inflict Edged Attack damage in melee combat without exterior weapons of any sort. Quincy's claws can be used to inflict Excellent (20) Edged Attack damage per strike, and the fangs can cause Good (10) Edged Attack damage per use.

Immortality: Quincy is essentially an immortal being, in that he no longer ages whatsoever, and will eventually recover from most means of injury that would otherwise cancel the existence of mere mortal folks. However, Quincy is not vulnerable to the standard means of eradicating immortal folks, really, instead having his own batch of supernatural weaknesses (see limitations for more on this).

Mind Control: by achieving eye contact with a would-be victim, Quincy can attempt to influence their mind at Good (10) rank. This often makes it extremely easy for him to dine for the evening (unless he meets very stubborn werewolves). Furthermore, if Quincy ever creates 'children', or has bitten a body who he let live, he can utilize this power against them at +2 CS, as his vampiric ichor binds their will to him somewhat.

Regenerative Armor: Quincy is exceedingly difficult to harm when you get down to it, in that he heals from inflicted damage at an astounding rate. He wields this power at Excellent (20) rank, allowing him to recover from like damage as if he had equivalent armor instantaneously. This protection, most effective against physical attack, affects the various attack forms as follows:

Ex 20 / Ty 6 / Fe 2 / Sh 0 / Sh 0

Furthermore, this power allows Quincy to heal from damage at a rate of two Hpts, NH, and MH per turn. Alternately, if you utilize the standard Regeneration rules, this translates into a 20 Hpt gain per ten turns spent healing without injury. Similarly, if one uses the UPB regeneration method, this recovery is equal to .6 Hpts per turn (power rank x recovery rate per turn).

True Flight: though not very common among vampires, Quincy has demonstrated that he has the power to fly in defiance of the pull of gravity. He's not very fast when flying about, only moving at sixty miles per hour (Poor (4) flight speeds), but he can nonetheless move himself in all three dimensions as he sees fit with this power (allowing for dramatic, last-minute escapes if all else fails).

Limitations:

Vampiric Weaknesses: while standard immortal types are permanently slain only by total body disintegration, destruction on their home plane, or being killed by a fellow immortal, Quincy is instead beholden to a completely different set of weaknesses. These are, of course, just as powerful as those that affect standard immortals; they simply take a rather different form. Quincy's weaknesses include:

* Blood Lust: Quincy must feed upon blood to survive. For each day this sick need is denied (or he can't find any handy werewolves), his ability and power scores will drop by -1 CS. If they all drop to Shift 0, Quincy will slip into a form of suspended animation until an immediate opportunity to feed presents itself; when emerging from such sleep, he will be nearly mindless until it is sated.

Now, normally twelve Hpts of blood gained is enough to sate Quincy for a day, but if he has allowed himself to fall into a hunger-induced coma from lack of feeding, he must drain a number of Hpts from a target in blood equal to twelve times the number of days he went without feeding before he will return to normal; each twelve points drained restores +1 CS of lost ability and power score ranks.

* Direct Sunlight: if exposed to direct sunlight (not mere daylight conditions, but actual rays of sunlight), Quincy suffers an Amazing (50) amount of damage each turn. This is usually enough to turn him to dust within two turns, but he usually takes exceptional precautions to make sure this never happens; of course, since his partner in crime emits veritable daylight, this can be tricky at times...

* Holy Symbols: having been a Catholic priest in the past, Quincy is susceptible to the will of the faithful, focused through a cross. When one is used against him, Quincy takes an amount of damage equal to the Psyche rank of the offending faithful person wielding such a device, for each turn it is brandished at him. Furthermore, Quincy can't attack this person while he's holding said symbol.

* Wooden Stakes: if he is pierced in the heart (with a killing blow) via some wooden object, Quincy will instantly crumble to dust unless he can pass a red Endurance (res) FEAT roll. Even if this FEAT is made, he will be reduced to 1 Hpt, and must instantly remove the stake or die as described above. Of course, this is somewhat difficult when somebody's hammering the thing in...

Equipment:

Silver Foil: as does his compatriot, Ultra Xiang, Quincy carries a special weapon with which to harry his dinner. This blade, made from silver, is of only Typical (6) material strength, but this is irrelevant when used against werewolves (and some vampires), who are harmed by the mere touch of silver, and possess no protection against weapons made from it. Of course, it can break rather easily...

Quirks:

Insanity: unlike most vampires, who turn irrevocably evil upon being turned into paranormal beings, Quincy simply went... insane. Wacky insane. The man has come to believe that he is some incarnation or another of Zorro himself, and fights through throngs of supernatural chicanery as though he were some manner of swashbuckler (being alternately aware of and oblivious to his vampiric nature).

Talents:

Languages / English and Spanish: though he hasn't been to America in a long, long time, and doesn't really use it all that often, Quincy has mastered the English tongue alongside his native Spanish; after all, tourists tend to pop up in Seguridad more often than you'd think. He can read, write, and speak in both languages fluently, though he does have a rather strong Spanish accent when talking in English...

Occult Lore: Quincy, after having turned into a vampire, extensively studied various branches of the occult tree, learning all he could about that which is his chosen prey: the werewolf. Of course, his studies have allowed him to learn a lot more about other occult subjects as well, such as vampires (like himself), various otherworldly entities, and places of magical and spiritual power.

Sword: occasionally in pure denial about his vampiric nature, Quincy has learned how to utilize a sword in the perpetration of his swashbuckling adventures - and his werewolf hunting. He can use any blade as though his Ftg (off) was +1 CS in rank, though he truly prefers the use of his trademark silver foil, which allows him to do battle (in his mind at least) with panache and style.

Contacts:

As a vampire, it's a sad truth that Quincy has few folks that he can call upon for assistance should he need it. He bumbled into a rescue of the psionic vampire hunter, Ultra Xiang, and can count on him for help if he needs it though. Furthermore, should he return to his former church, it's likely that Quincy could get help from any of his former flock (he doesn't want them to know what's happened to him though).

Costume:

Thinking himself like unto Zorro himself (which is eerie, since he strongly resembles George Hamilton), Quincy wears a distinctive costume at all times. His adventuring garb consists of a roomy black silk, long sleeved shirt, black trousers, black leather gloves, black leather boots, a black leather belt, a black mask to hide his identity, and of course, a black felt 'Zorro' hat (bought from an online prop replica store).

Personality:

Quincy's a good man. He was a saint before his transformation, but now he's 'just' good - and a great hero. Quincy has thoroughly subsumed himself into his 'Zorro' persona, thinking himself to truly be like unto that great swashbuckler of film lore, even if he goes by a different name altogether. However, he has a habit of referring to himself in the third person, which tends to annoy some people...

Story:

Father Quincy Alvarez was originally a Catholic priest who, in the small town of Seguridad, Mexico, became almost legendary for his selfless service to the community. There was nothing he wouldn't do to help those who attended his church, not to mention anyone else in the town. As long as a person was in need, he would go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure said person was well taken care of.

His unqualified charitableness may have been what saved him. You see, one night Quincy was mobbed by a very large number of vampires, beasts who find themselves drawn to the town due to the presence of a secret, mystic library, beasts who needed a midnight 'snack'. Naturally, though he was armed with a cross, and truly believed in the power it represented, Quincy was no match for the supernatural horrors.

He suffered severe blood loss due to their attack, though he managed to ultimately escape the beasts (as he 'turned' most of them away before he was bitten). Resting in his church for days, Quincy slowly felt the curse of vampirism overcome him, but refused to leave the only home he'd seen in ten years, hoping somehow that being there would be enough to shake the evil out of him.

It didn't, though, and unable to deal with the horror of what had occurred, Quincy went mad. Stark. Raving. Bonkers. While most folks that are turned into vampires typically transform into evil, soulless monsters, this didn't quite occur with Quincy. Or maybe it did, draining his nigh-sainthood down to a level of mere 'enlightened goodness'. Regardless, he suffered a dramatic personality shift upon his transformation.

Being kooky in the head, he adopted the persona of an adventuring swashbuckler, a'la Zorro, and after leaving Seguridad, he journeyed from town to town, righting wrongs and battling vampires whenever he encountered them on the prowl. Of course, vampires need to feed, but Quincy refused to consume the blood of human beings or animals. This left him only one bizarre recourse.

Noting that the area around Seguridad was lousy with supernatural things, he chose to use werewolves as his sole source of sustenance. They tended to be only slightly less common than vampires themselves, and he found he could easily subdue them with the use of a special foil that, in addition to furthering his mental image, could easily penetrate their impressive defenses (being silver and all).

This arrangement worked out well for the environs around Seguridad, for Quincy was definitely putting a dent in the population of supernatural entities. In fact, it was during one hunt of his that Quincy ran into a large group of vampires who had ganged up on a mere human. Surprising the evil monsters by attacking them instead of this leather-clad stranger, Quincy easily managed to save him.

Finding out that this fellow had a mad-on for vampires, Quincy was about to leave him to his own devices, but this fellow, a psionic vampire hunter by the name of Ultra Xiang, felt grateful for the rescue. It wasn't every day that he encountered a somewhat heroic undead, after all, so he wasn't sure what to do about the situation. As such, he questioned Quincy at length about his activities.

After hearing his (admittedly skewed) story, Xiang offered to accompany Quincy on a werewolf hunt; after all, the man had saved his life. This went particularly well with the use of Xiang's telekinetic powers and small arsenal of silver stakes, so Quincy decided to tag along with Xiang on his own hunts. While Xiang may sometimes be annoyed by his ersatz sidekick, Quincy is completely oblivious to the man's disdain.

And sticks by his side to this very day. Which is easy, as the both of 'em are never awake during the day...!
