Origin:

The Aggravant's origin is... complicated. He is the result of an accident the original Charlie Chicanery had with a matter duplicator. Since he was subsequently cloned after being killed by Deion, not to mention almost wiped out due to a temporal paradox, the Aggravant is a mutant clone of extradimensional origin.

Known Powers:

Cosmic Heraldry: having arranged to become the herald of Anthropomorpho, Chuck has acquired the ability to use some of that entity's fractals. Some of the time, they simply pose as weapons for him, usually made out of transient steel, but sometimes they pose as the man himself.

This is because, as a part of his deal with his new boss, Chuck 'rents' his body out to newly formed fractals most of the time, allowing them to grow accustomed to existing in a physical state. So when they use his body thusly, Chuck can adventure as a collection of fractals (and is virtually immortal).

This because, if he is slain, the fractals that compose his temporary body can simply rebuild it in time. The only trick is that he doesn't have this advantage all the time, and you never know if you're encountering Chuck in his real body or his fractal-generated form, unless he does something to reveal this.

Such inadvertent revelations may come in the form of spontaneous costume changes, new hairstyles, or perhaps alternate colorations (he'd be great as an action figure model - you could make twenty variants sensibly). Currently, Chuck has six fractals at his beck and call, though this may change over time.

Dimensional Interface: Chuck's primary mutant power, this ability allows him to use his body as a conduit between this universe and another - hyperspace, to be exact. This Amazing (50) power lends itself to all kinds of handy uses, some of which Chuck has developed as follows:

* Flight: by shunting most of his mass into hyperspace, Charlie can render himself virtually weightless, and (by allowing propellant energy to escape in exchange) achieve flight. He can fly with Amazing (50) air speed, or 375 miles per hour, though he's much faster in space.

* Super Flight: complementing his ordinary flight power, this ability allows Chuck to actually move his entire body into hyperspace for significant periods of time, which lets him fly at impressive speeds. Working at Amazing (50) rank, Charlie can move at 125,000 times the speed of light!

* Tachyon Blasts: with the use of an odd metal known as transient steel (a Sh Y (200) m.s. material), Chuck can focus tachyons from hyperspace into our own reality for short bursts of time - long enough to blast somebody. He can use these blasts to inflict Amazing (50) Energy damage.

Invulnerability to Cold, Fire, Heat, Pressure Variance, and Radiation Poisoning: supplementing his ability to fly at ridiculous speeds in space, these powers allow Chuck to actually survive being there. Invulnerability provides him Class 1k resistance to these environmental hazards.

Self Sustenance 2: finally, Chuck has demonstrated the ability to get by indefinitely without food, water, sleep, or even air. He possesses this power at Shift Z (500) rank, meaning that he may partake of these biological pleasures as he sees fit, but need not ever actually do so.

Equipment:

Energy Staff: given to him when he worked for E.S.E., this weapon is rather deadly, having two energy 'blades' sticking out of the handle... so it's not really a 'staff', per se, but it's as good a definition as any. Chuck can use this weapon to inflict Amazing (50) Energy damage per strike.

Of course, when his job at E.S.E. went sour, Chuck had to give this thing back. Well, he didn't really have to, since they tried to kill him off to keep their secrets, but he did anyway. So, unless he actually finds a similar weapon, Charlie is currently without his 'Darth Maul' implement.

Staff: though he can use transient steel in any shape to focus his powers, Chuck uses a staff since it is... more impressive. Not to mention that it's easier to hold than a blender. In addition to allowing him to use his tachyon powers, this Sh Y (200) m.s. staff can be used to inflict +1 CS Blunt Attack damage.

Time Travel Staff: Chuck has possessed this item on and off for quite a while now. It is similar to his other one, save for the time travel device built in. This item allows him to navigate the time stream with Amazing (50) ability, which is quite handy in and of itself, really.

Of course, it is also equipped with a so-called time dilator, which offers Chuck like protection from the use of time-manipulating powers. In other words, if someone tries to stop or otherwise tinker with time in his vicinity, Chuck should still be able to act in normal time (in relation to the time manipulator).

Quirks:

Enemy: though they didn't start out that way, Chuck has wound up getting on the bad side of his counterpart, Charlie (the original Charlie Chicanery). These two are physically and mentally the same (aside from their gender), at least up to the point where they diverged...

Stubbornness 2: Chuck is rather hard-headed. Impressively so, in fact. In order for him to change his mind once he makes it up, Chuck must pass a Psc (will) FEAT at -2 CS, assuming he should want to. Usually he won't, and this quirk will only come into play when a compromise is in order.

Talents:

Astronomy: during his time as an employee of Extra Solar Enterprises, Chuck had to learn how to get around in the universe - especially without a road map. As such, he took the time to study astronomy properly, and even has a degree in this area. His Rsn should be considered +1 CS in astronomical matters.

Energy Weapons: supplementing his skill with the standard staff, Chuck has taken it upon himself to learn how to use his energy staff without inadvertently cutting himself to bits. He can use his energy staff, or any other focused-energy melee weapons at his Ftg (off) score +1 CS.

Skill / Staff: since E.S.E. gave him his original transient steel staff, that group trained him in its use - in order to improve the value of their investment in him. He can use a staff or other, similar weapons in a pinch, at his Ftg (off) score +1 CS (which is good, as his Ftg (off) is rather low...).

Contacts:

Chuck's attitude tends to be rather off-putting, but he's managed to make a few allies since his creation during one of his counterpart's adventures. In addition to the mercenary squad known as T.H.E.M. (don't ask what it stands for), Chuck can count inventor / genius Wendell Wherever as a reliable contact.

Furthermore, Chuck has managed to get a second job as the herald of Anthropomorhpo. This sometimes means doing jobs for that entity, but mostly involves renting his body out for new fractals to 'ride'. Since Anthropomorpho appreciates Chuck's help, that cosmic entity can be considered a contact, too.

Costume:

Chuck didn't used to go for the Spandex ™ thing, oh no. Originally, he wore a simple, conventional outfit into battle or at work, which included a pair of loose-fitting blue jeans, a loose white T-shirt, black leather boots, a black leather belt with a silver belt buckle on the front, and a Cubs baseball cap.

After he was cloned twice, Chuck went with a new look. Chuck's second costume consists of a pair of loose-fitting blue jeans, a white stretch fabric T-shirt (to show off his six pack), brown leather boots, a brown leather belt with a silver belt buckle engraved with 'the Aggravant', and a brown trench coat.

Personality:

Chuck is a rather stubborn young man, since his personality is the same as the original Charlie Chicanery's... to a point. After several bad experiences of late, he's grown up a little bit, and strives to truly make his own place in the world - since most of it seems occupied by his counterpart....

Story:

Chuck is an incredibly young entity, having only recently been created as a result of an accident the original Charlie Chicanery had with a defective matter duplicator. While only moments old, Chuck had all the memories and personality that his counterpart had up until that point.

Also identical to Charlie in a physical sense, Chuck gained his mutant powers as well. On the other hand, a bizarre side effect of this duplication meant that Charlie was rendered female (that's where the defective part of the matter duplicator comes in). This meant the duo had a problem.

Since the world knew her as a male, Charlie wasn't feeling up to explaining this embarrassing state of affairs to her friends, relatives and colleagues. As such, Chuck went ahead and 'filled in' for her while she tried to adjust to her new, feminine existence. This meant that Chuck had to pay the bills.

He resumed his other's job at Extra Solar Enterprises, working for this suspect corporation for several months, at least until they decided to get rid of him; Chuck's powers, while natural, were a bit slower than some of the other, technologically-inclined folks they'd hired of late.

Wanting to keep their secrets, E.S.E.'s human resources guru, Riley, tried to have Chuck killed - using another E.S.E. operative, Deion, as his weapon. Chuck managed to survive this, though, and made his way to freedom - sans his energy staff, at least. He then went on vacation... or tried to, anyway.

Kind of banged up after this ordeal, Chuck flew to Los Angeles to revel in alcohol and probably prostitutes, but instead ran into two time-traveling mercenaries: Gunslinger and Moebius. These two time-lost and dimension-lost thugs were trouble - in other words, they were right up Chuck's alley.

He clung to them despite their urge to shoot him dead, and was rewarded with a unique opportunity to get a time travel implement of his own. Though he had to sell everything he owned (though it was technically owned by his counterpart), Chuck was able to upgrade his staff with a time travel device.

Returning to his place with his new friends (and the builder of his time travel staff), Chuck explained the situation to Charlie, who was incensed - until Chuck went back in time and slipped the time travel staff into that matter duplicator right as it copied Charlie... thus copying the new time travel staff as well.

When he gave this to Charlie, she forgave him for selling all their stuff, since she now, too, could travel in time. Immediately thereafter, thugs from the Chrono Corps descended on Charlie and Chuck's penthouse apartment, and caused all kinds of havoc (since five rogue time travelers were present).

As this conflict brewed, another incidental super-human brawl broke out in the other penthouses on Chuck's floor, and as a result of this, Chuck wound up running afoul of Deion again. Having left him in a sorry state last time they met, Deion got even with Chuck by ripping his heart out!

Charlie killed Deion for this, and then had Wendell Wherever clone Chuck up a new body... but the only problem was that the process required the use of still-living cells. This meant that Chuck's new body would be female just like Charlie's... and he'd have to share Charlie's body until his own was ready in a year.

Not at all liking this idea, both Chuck and Charlie just traveled a year into the future, and got Chuck's mind out of Charlie's body at last. They both then traveled back to the present, and got on with their lives. Of course, things quickly deteriorated between Chuck and Charlie.

This because of their time travel staves. Charlie promised hers to a fellow in the future known as Harry the Space Pilot - but reneged on the deal. When he came back looking for her, he found Chuck instead - who looked physically identical. He tried to seize Chuck's staff, but then Charlie appeared on the scene.

Chuck then helped Harry beat Charlie and her friends in the super-group Seven, and gave her staff to Harry. Shortly thereafter, Charlie hired the Technoholic Twins to trounce Chuck good - and steal his staff to replace hers. This caused something to break in Chuck... he had had enough.

He didn't have a psychotic episode, mind you, but Chuck decided he was tired of living in Charlie's shadow - and vowed to get his male body back! With the help of Moebius, Chuck engaged in some time travel tomfoolery to get Wendell to clone him a new male body, and moved his mind over there.

However, this created an opening for a ghost who was haunting Gunslinger and Moebius to fill, and after his own mind had left the building, Chuck's female form was possessed by none other than the ghost of Starscream - a Cybertronian entity whose 'Spark' seemed capable of traveling through time and space.

Before he could deal with this, Chuck got sucked into some gladiatorial contest by Argyle, a Thaumatech high-up who was pointed Chuck's way by Riley (who was still trying to get rid of him). This contest involved all kinds of heroes and villains from across the world - who had to kill each other over and over again.

While embroiled in this mess, Chuck found the wherewithall to stake his claim at individuality at long last, and discarded his 'Charlie Chicanery' identity. Finding something fitting, and not already trademarked, Chuck made up his own super-hero alias: he became the Aggravant!

Chuck eventually got out of this Arena debacle, meeting up with the cosmic entity known as Anthropomorpho in the process. Wishing to make use of Anthropomorpho's fractals (small shapechanging, extradimensional beings), Chuck wound up becoming this being's herald in earthly matters.

This mostly involved renting his body out to newly formed fractals, so they can grow accustomed to existing in a physical state. While he did so, Chuck could simply move in the real world as a collection of fractals (being unable to tell the difference). Of course, he would do odd jobs for that cosmic being, too.

Once this arrangement had been set up, Chuck returned to earth in order to save his friends from the wrath of Starscream. They'd formed a mercenary group called T.H.E.M. (don't ask what it stands for) you see, along with the psi, Geoffrey McAlister and the Atlantean known as Slow Jim.

Having a good thing going with these fellows, a thing completely independent of his counterpart, Chuck eventually exposed Starscream for the murderous cretin that he is (or she is, considering her newfound home), and resumed his place amongst T.H.E.M. He's with them to this very day!
