Trained Psi-Powers (theonic, traditional student)

Deionic Awareness (a) (s): the first psi power Andy mastered, this vital art is the cornerstone of his discipline of study, not to mention the key to his eventual immortality. It represents his recognition of the divine within himself, and how to (eventually) manipulate deionic energies. This is an intensity 15 power.

Furthermore, he can use this power in the event of his death in order to 'come back'. This is an average difficulty deionic awareness action if his corpse is mostly intact, a daunting action if dismemberment has occurred, or a superhuman action if most of his body is destroyed. Having no cards makes this tricky.

In order to handle this discrepancy, the Narrator should deal Andy a full hand upon his demise, and see if he can play this action out with the cards given him. If he can, he will return to life sooner or later, depending on how he was disposed of. If not, well... then he wasn't as immortal as he thought...!

Resistance to Mortal Attacks (t) (s): thanks to this handy talent, Andy can render himself highly resistant to any attack launched by a merely mortal sentient being. This power gives Andy +4 protection from all mortal attack forms - as long as they're launched by sentient beings, of course.

Resistance to Mortal Phenomenon (s) (s): similarly, Andy is rather well protected from mundane phenomenon. When faced with natural events, such as bad weather, a magma flow, or even an animal attack, Andy should benefit from +4 protection from said assaults.

Signature Power (a) (w): Deion's deific profile is supposedly that of personal perfection. As such, he can substitute this intensity (13) for any of his ability scores either in or out of combat. Additionally, any attack using these ability scores (a gun shot, punch, etc...) ignore non-deionic defenses!

Awe (t) (w): this theonic talent allows Andy to radiate an aura of deific presence, one that will generally cause mortals exposed to it to stop what they're doing, whatever that may be, and just stare. This works if mortals in his vicinity fail a average difficulty Willpower action against this intensity 10 power.

Resistance to Predestination (s) (w): thanks to this handy skill (which he maintains at all times), Andy stands outside the forces of fate. As such, he can sidestep the use of powers like danger sense or even precognition automatically, and resists powers like omniscience with intensity 10 ability.

Equipment:

Spear (s): Andy has taken to carrying a spear with him on occasion as a sort of token of his godliness; spears are some of the oldest weapons in existence, and such. His personal spear is made from m.s. 20 metals, and can be used to inflict his Strength +3 in stabbing damage.

Hindrances:

(none)

Skills:

Boxing (s): Andy is well-trained in the use of the fine art of fisticuffs - with his signature power, he can use them to devastating effect. He can divide his pre-cardplay action score between two unarmed melee attacks, the last of which he may attempt as a contingent action.

Martial Arts (a): a back-up of sorts for his boxing ability, this skill represents Andy's melee finesse. He can use his Agility instead of Strength to resolve unarmed attacks, and can lower the difficulty of actions intended to reduce falling damage or to catch thrown weapons.

Psionic Combat (w): supplementing his martial arts skills, Andy has been educated in the use of his powers in combat. He should receive a difficulty reduction on any Strength or Agility actions made while using his psi powers - or avoiding someone else's - in combat.

Spears (s): since he's sort of using it as his personal totem, Andy has learned how to use a staff effectively in battle - even if he thinks it a wee bit barbaric. He can wield a spear at a reduced difficulty level, whether he does so in melee or when throwing it at somebody.

Sociology (i): his original career path, this skill represents Andy's well-educated understanding of human behavior - and explains why he hates people so much. He should receive a reduced difficulty on any action required when attempting to understand a body's motives - and maybe predict their actions.

Trance (w): as are all Mindwatch students, Andy has been trained in the fine art of 'playing possum'. He can slow his respiration and heart rate to the point that he appears dead, and will fool any casual observer that cannot pass an average difficulty Willpower action to detect his ruse.

Calling:

Demolisher: while he's not into wrecking things, per se, Andy nonetheless delights in demonstrating just how much better he is than other people - it just so happens that the most visually impressive means for him to do so involves wrecking things with his theonically-enhanced Strength...

Costume:

Andy isn't all up for that costume thing - even when working in an official Mindwatch capacity. He normally goes for a nice pair of leather boots with a pointy tip, a pair of blue jeans that are normally somewhat broken in, and a white T-shirt, usually with a pack of cigarettes rolled up in one of the sleeves.

Personality:

Andy's a jerk. He hates people, and (much to his chagrin) knows all too well what makes them tick. He delights in showcasing his personal superiority in all aspects of life, which is odd considering that he's not all that smart, really. Unfortunately, he has the power to back up his bad attitude...

Story:

Andy's life is a long list of failures, really. The man went to school to get a degree in sociology, but couldn't get a nice, high-paying job as a statistician like most sociologists - no, he had to do actual social work. And this, this is where he developed his strong disdain for the human race.

Several years of unfulfilling work for veritable peanuts made Andy a very unhappy person, and his marriage fell apart as a result of this. A broken man, Andy got his affairs in order and prepared to jump from the nearest tall national landmark, but was stopped in process by a strange man.

This fellow, a bizarrely garbed Chinese man, sensed something great festering within Andy's generally surly spirit, and implored him to reconsider his actions. Andy scoffed at this, feeling he had nothing to live for, but this stranger convinced Andy to make a rather curious bargain with him.

He would watch Andy leap to his self-imposed doom, but if Andy survived, he would come with the man and learn the true secrets of the universe. Thinking this a joke, Andy agreed, and leapt off George Washington's nose at the Mt. Rushmore monument, unaware of what this guy was doing.

As Andy sailed through the air, this stranger activated the divine spark of life within him, and when Andy hit the ground and got shattered, he didn't die. Well, he died, really, but didn't stay dead. When an incredulous Andy woke up, he saw this stranger sitting next to him in the lotus position, grinning like a loon.

Curious how this came about, Andy decided to accompany this fellow for a time, and found out that he was a member of an organization known as Mindwatch. They act to protect people with psionic powers from those who would abuse them, and also seek out those who would be valuable additions to the group.

Having seen that Andy had the potential to do great things, this stranger awakened his potential and, with this done, took him to his allies in Mindwatch to train him in the proper use of his new, theonic heritage. Having seen the benefits of his newfound divinity spark first hand, Andy had no problem with this.

He spent many many years within the Mindwatch compound, learning quite a few actual psi powers of the theonic stripe, and chose his immortal profile - that of personal perfection, perfection reflected in a primarily physical fashion. Of course, he hadn't worked on gaining any followers just yet.

He still hated people way too much for that, and still does to this very day. Regardless, Andy decided to start making a name for himself, and as such went to use his powers in a very public way. This didn't quite go as planned, though, as he instead found himself as an employee of Extra Solar Enterprises.

Another strange oddity in his life, E.S.E. is a company that uses super-human operatives to fetch items of power and value all over the cosmos. While he has no space-traveling powers to speak of, Andy's mix of abilities makes him incredibly powerful, meaning he makes for great 'muscle'.

Andy served as the strong-arm of a space-faring pirate for several years in E.S.E.'s employ, and actually managed to garner a few followers across the galaxy, but he hasn't capitalized on this just yet. This is because the man has become obsessed with a fellow E.S.E. employee: Charlie Chicanery.

Once this fellow had outlived his usefulness, E.S.E. high-up Riley (nobody really knows the man's first name) asked Andy to 'dispose' of him, and he had no real problem with that; just one less chattering monkey to annoy him in the future, really. The trick was that Charlie managed to avoid getting killed.

In fact, he took Andy out during the attempt. Humiliated by this, Andy left E.S.E. for a time, losing himself in one Mindwatch adventure after another, hoping to get over this defeat in his mind. One such adventure saw him paired up with the Seven Dimensional Man and his so-called Posse Pillory.

That villain assembled a group of Mindwatch operatives to help him deal with a bevy of vigilantes that would undoubtedly stop him from slaying his primary target: a mutant known as Stone Cold to his teammates. Morally ambiguous, Andy had no problem with this shady operation.

While on this job, though, Andy ran afoul of Charlie Chicanery again - he apparently lived across the hall from those vigilantes that the 7-D Man had it in for! Returning the favor, Andy slew Charlie by literally ripping his still-beating heart out, but didn't account for his counterpart; there's two Charlies, after all.

The original Charlie, having been transformed into a female as a result of the incident that duplicated him, was present to see her duplicate get killed, and hacked Andy up a second time - in much the same way he himself got dead by Charlie's hands. Andy got better thanks to an ally's empathic powers, though.

As did Charlie. See, he knows people, people with powerful technology that allowed him to be cloned. So, armed with this technology, Charlie returned to life, though he had to be cloned from his female counterpart (making him a woman as well), and leaving Andy with a conundrum - two Charlie Chicanerys.

Both of which who were seemingly immortal thanks to a high tech cheat. Before he could face them again, though, he was forced to leave by Nonce, a fellow Mindwatch operative who felt that enough damage had been done by them and the other people out to get those vigilantes that day.

So, Andy is out of a job, and faced with two apparent nemeses, both of which are just as immortal as he. How he and his sense of superiority will handle this in the long run is a mystery to be sure, but knowing Andy, he'll likely survive - ha ha - and make an attempt to deal with the Charlies eventually...
