Elys Strength Agility Intellect Willpower 13d 4x 16a 14x Hand Size: 5 (30) Edge: 3 Powers: Draconic Physique: decidedly non-human in origin, Elys is a red dragon, a powerful, magical reptilian creature that (in her case) hails from some other, fiendish plane of existence. Due to her origins, Elys is possessed of the following physical and magical capabilities: Additional Limb / Battle Tail (a): when Elys wishes to deal with a foe in melee without necessarily slicing him to ribbons, she will usually resort to the use of her tail, swatting said opponent with devastating force. Using her tail, Elys can inflict her Str +4 CS in blunt damage with each assault. * Body Armor (s): covered from head to toe in shimmering red scales, Elys has more than a little bit of protection from attack. Imbued with the magical energies that permeate her whole being, these scales offer her +4 protection from attack, making her frighteningly dangerous in combat. * Claws (s): all four of Elys' legs are armed with powerful claws, sharp implements which can easily shred a human-sized being to ribbons. When wielding these terrifying talons in melee mayhem, Elys can inflict her Strength +4 in sharp (physical) damage with every deadly swipe or rake. * Fire Control (i): her signature attack, this power allows Elys to breathe a massive stream of flame at will, doing so once every four exchanges. Wielding this power at intensity 16, she can inflict like fiery (energy) damage with every assault, enough to bring even the most powerful foes to their knees. * Invulnerability to Fire and Heat (s): being a kind of dragon with a stereotypical fiery nature, Elys is naturally resistant to the effects of such. She possesses this power at intensity 10, making her immune to all but the hottest of flames - both mundane and magical - and heat. * Resistance to Aging (s): dragons are rather long-lived creatures when you get down to it, having life spans that extend for several thousand years - at the very least. She has this power at intensity 1, allowing her a likely ultimate lifespan of approximately 2,000 years, give or take. * Size Alteration (a): Elys, as a dragon, is much larger than your average-sized human, and thus has this power as a technicality. Always active (as it simply describes her bulk in game terms more than working as a super-human power, per se), this ability enhances her combat capability immensely. Elys is twenty foot long from her snout to the base of her tail, meaning that she has this power at intensity 7, though she's forty foot long when you count her tail. Again, though, since this power is simply used to describe her immense size, it is bound by both the Growth Only and Permanent limitations. Also, it is important to note that the changes to Elys' Strength and Agility scores, normally required by the application of Size Alteration, have not been made; this in the event that she battles an opponent of similar size, like another dragon. However, when fighting human beings, they should be enforced. * Teeth (s): supplementing her claws, these colossal culinary implements allow Elys to chew up most anything she wishes. Using her knife-like fangs, Elys can inflict her Strength +4 in sharp (physical) damage, which - if she's pinned something down with her claws - makes eating that much easier... * Wings (a): while they are not powerful enough to sustain flight according to the standard laws of physics, these appendages provide Elys magical lift when in use, allowing her to soar through the air with ease. Elys can fly at intensity 4 speeds despite her massive bulk (at approximately 60 m.p.h.). Portal Detection (w): born of the planes, Elys has been exposed to their curious, not-quite-normal energies for most of her life. As such, she's keenly aware of the doorways between planes, as their energies flow back and forth through these holes in space-time. This power functions at intensity 6. Schooling: Adept / Technomancy: having studied the ways of technological magic for hundreds of years, Elys is a powerful technomancer. A veritable master of this form of magic, she wields almost a dozen spells of a primarily technological bent. The spells she's demonstrated thus far include: Contingency (d) (w): incredibly handy, this spell allows Elys to, in effect, cast a spell in advance. Whenever a pre-set event occurs or situation comes about, the spell she cast will manifest immediately, with no conscious effort on Elys' part. This is an intensity 15 spell. Dimensional Transit (d) (i): useful during her exploration of the multiverse, Elys can use this spell to cross the boundaries between universes. Working at intensity 10, Elys' dimensional transit spell can move her - and anyone she's physically in contact with, across the dimensions. Eldritch Attacks (g) (i): in order to complement her fiery breath weapon in combat, Elys makes use of this group spell when range is necessary, but she is waiting for her breath to 'recharge'. This group allows her to use, in a given 24 hour period, either the eldritch blast, bolt, crystals, barrier, or wave spell. This is an intensity 15 group spell. Enchantment (d) (w): this vital spell allows Elys to imbue inanimate objects with mystic energies, in order to produce magical items. In order to produce such an item, Elys must spend an amount of response bonuses equal to the power intensities of the spell or spell-like effect(s) to be implanted in the object. Once this has been done, and the spell cast, Elys has effectively created a new magical item, for good or ill. Such items will not possess spell / power ranks that are greater than this spell's intensity - which is 15. Elys' enchantment spell is essential for the creation of her powerful, technomantic devices. Enhancement 2 (d) (w): wielding this incredibly powerful magic, Elys can grant permanent, sorcerous powers to an individual or creature. In order for this to work properly, though, either Elys or the recipient must pay the response bonus cost for the power(s) to be granted, or else the new abilities will only be temporary. If this is the case, these powers will only last for a number of days equal to this spell intensity, which is 15. While this is half a month worth of super powers, a less transient empowering is usually preferred under most conditions. But then, temporary powers may be more to Elys' liking... Inanime (g) (i): this group spell allows Elys the use of various magical abilities that alter inanimate objects, many of which help her shape items she's preparing to enchant. In a given 24 hour period, this group allows her to use either the animation, conjuration, glow, topological manipulation, or transduction spell. This is an intensity 12 group spell. Magic Sense (p) (w): this handy extrasensory mystical formula allows Elys to perceive the lines of magical energy that permeate a given person, object, or environment. Functioning at intensity 10, this spell helps her to find all but the most well-hidden mystic energies in her area. Mesmermechanism (s) (i): wielding this technomantic school spell, Elys can mentally control machinery as though it were an extension of her own body. Doing so with intensity 12 ability, she can do an impressive amount of damage to her enemies in an industrial setting... Mystic Servant (d) (w): using this spell, Elys is able to conjure forth a familiar, a powerful creature that she can use as both a servant and a confidante. Her current familiar is Treecko, a large, talking gecko creature that she's given the power of speech. This is an intensity 16 spell. Proxy (u) (w): a handy spell that allows her to extend her mystic range considerably, Elys can use this spell to actually cast magic through another. Working at intensity 10, this spell lets her use magic wherever her current proxy (usually Treecko) is wandering about on an errand for her. Teleportation (u) (a): Elys prefers to fly from place to place, but whenever she's in a hurry - or has a need for subtlety, she will usually just teleport instead. She wields this spell at intensity 10, allowing her to transport herself - or up to 20 others - anywhere on the earth if she wishes. Equipment: Hoard: over the centuries, Elys has acquired an insane amount of treasure, both monetary (gold, gems and the like) and utilitarian (weapons, works of art, etc...). Much of this includes magical and high tech weapons used by would-be dragon slayers who ultimately failed in their quest. The exact contents of this veritable mountain of treasure is unknown, but anyone who had the opportunity to explore it would easily be set up for life. Furthermore, discovering something unique in it could likely be a springboard for the origin of some hero (or villain)... should he or she survive Elys' wrath. Hindrances: Monstrous: as one can guess, Elys is quite fearsome in appearance, generally inducing a panic effect in those that view her - even from a distance. Anyone with an edge of zero (0) who views Elys is at zero (0) Willpower for the purposes of resisting the urge to irrationally flee in terror. Skills: Bionics (i): developed through years of research across the multiverse, and augmented in recent times on earth, this skill describes Elys' ability to build prosthetic, robotic enhancements for living, organic beings - and then attach them to said beings. Languages / Abyssal, Chinese, Draconic, Dwarfish, Elvish, English, Japanese, and Spanish (i): having gone far and wide in her travels, Elys has picked up the ability to use a bevy of languages. She can both speak and read/write in all of these languages... and possibly more. Mechanics (i): what ultimately began her fascination with the mastery of technology, this skill represents her innate understanding of all things mechanical. Whenever assembling, disassembling, or simply contemplating a machine, Elys does so at a reduced difficulty level. Natural Weapons (s): incredibly powerful, Elys is also possessed of considerable, natural fighting ability. However, she has trained extensively in the use of her inherent, personal weaponry, in order to maximize her ability to survive. She can use her natural attacks at a reduced difficulty level. Occult (i): given her origin and extensive researches, Elys is quite an expert in the occult - a world-class expert, if you will. As such, in any action regarding magic knowledge, Elys should receive the benefit of an auto-trump - she knows almost everything there is to know where magic is concerned. Calling: Greed: a veritable exemplar of this calling, Elys is greedy by her very nature - it's practically the defining thing about her personality. While she wishes to expand her knowledge and ultimately transform into a technomantic being, she nonetheless wants to hoard anything and everything of value she can steal. Costume: Strictly speaking, Elys doesn't wear a costume, preferring to let her true, draconic splendor do the talking for her. Of course, she's slept on a bed of rubies for centuries, and has wound up getting thousands of these precious stones embedded in her hide over the years, giving her a sparkly appearance. Personality: Like most dragons, Elys is capricious and greedy, more than happy to seize anyone or anything that catches her fancy. She's particularly curious about the ways of magic and technology, however, and is just as likely to steal a new super computer as she is an armored truck full of gold. Elys is very evil, however, and has no qualms about crushing anyone and anything that gets in her way. To this end, she will scheme endlessly, producing plots within plots to confuse, contain, and ultimately eliminate her foes. Her vanity tends to ultimately point her enemies towards her, however. Real Name: Elys Occupation: mystic researcher, troublemaker Legal Status: creature from Pandemonium who has irked countless regional entities in her past Marital Status: inapplicable Alias(es), if any: several throwaway, one-time false identities Group Affiliation: none Height: 40' (total length including her tail) Hair: inapplicable Eyes: glowing orange (like fire, or magma) Weight: several tons Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Elys is a frighteningly large, fantastic reptilian creature, complete with wings, glowing orange eyes, and six inch long teeth and claws. Furthermore, she has an impressive sparkling aura about her, thanks to the countless rubies embedded in her scaly hide. Story: Long, long ago, in the howling depths of Pandemonium, a dragon who eventually came to be known as Elys was hatched. As are all dragons of her particular type, Elys is inherently evil and just a little bit mad, but the winds that cut through her rocky home only made her surlier - and crazier. Unlike her parents, relatives, and so on, Elys grew up... abnormally. She found herself obsessed with the notion of technology, and how it works with magic. She felt that most schools of magic available to her siblings and such were inadequate for her personal needs, and left her clutch very early. Elys then walked the planes for a time, almost instinctually homing in on the plane of Mechanus, a realm of ultimate law populated by creatures of flesh and gears. Once she arrived, Elys decided what she wanted - to recreate herself as a powerful creature of both magic and technology - a cybernetic dragon! She then left the known multiverse for realms unknown, looking far and wide for the knowledge she required to make this change. Hundreds of years of research, questing, and hard work found her in the service of a potent mage, a wizard specializing in high tech magic - who agreed to teach Elys everything he knew. He did indeed do so, but the extent of his knowledge wasn't enough for Elys' needs; his thanks for his hard work was to be eaten by Elys in her frustration. She then left for earth, knowing that the world was the home of an incredibly powerful and dangerous technomage known as Morbis. Arriving on earth, Elys set about looking for the human, but it turned out that he'd been dead for thousands of years; her lore was apparently a bit out of date. Deciding to figure out how to make her transformation on her own, Elys set up shop in a mountain above a lost city under Antarctica's ice, and got to work. From her massive lair, Elys performed bizarre and perverse experiments in technomancy, and though she made great strides, she couldn't quite master the technology and magic chains needed to transform. When she was about to give up hope, Elys learned of a human who was attempting to resurrect Morbis. A-Lonse, a fellow from the supposedly lost city below her lair, had a bone to pick with humanity, and was hoping to resurrect Morbis in order to destroy it. Caring not for the fate of mankind, Elys wanted only to achieve her ultimate goal, so she gave A-Lonse all the aid she could muster. Ultimately, A-Lonse succeeded in bringing Morbis back to life, but he was slain shortly thereafter by a gang of would-be heroes, though they were cast throughout time and space as a result of doing so. Enraged, Elys took her anger out on A-Lonse and the people of his city, and brought them to their knees. Some time later, Elys' servant, a super-powered gecko-creature known as Treecko, was rummaging about Morbis' former headquarters, and found the only remains of his body - a severed hand. This hand, it turned out, was actually the remnants of a clone body he was using to come back to life yet again. This third attempt at life was also averted by those same heroes who vanquished him the first time (after they all got back home), which enraged Elys even more. However, with this bit of Morbis, Elys thought she might have found the final key to her incredibly long research - the key to her metamorphosis! So, she ordered Treecko to bring the hand back to her, but once again those heroes got in her way. Thinking this was more than enough perfidy, Elys journeyed to New York City, and savagely attacked her opponents - and scared a whole lot of the populace in the process. Thinking them sufficiently scared, Elys returned home, but found out that her link to Treecko had been severed somehow. This was preventing her from teleporting him (and her prize) to safety, and as she'd surmised that Treecko had been captured, Elys decided that she'd have to lead those heroes to her. That she did, and she had a nasty surprise waiting for them - in the form of her own team of super-powered goons, the Tenacious Ten! Her thugs roughed up these interlopers good, but were ultimately beaten. Elys then transported the Ten away for use another day, and prepared to deal with these fools directly. Elys gave them a chance to live when they arrived, basically by giving up Morbis' hand, but Masque, the wizard amongst these heroes, transported it into the sun itself! Insane with anger, Elys attacked them directly, and caused them all kinds of damage, but in a long battle, they managed to slay her. However. She'd prepared for this eventuality, and her consciousness shifted into the technological shell she'd prepared for her transformation; incomplete, this shell wouldn't contain her spirit long, but she hoped it would last long enough to kill these fools and resuscitate her original body. This turned out to not be the case, though, and Elys' highly combative robot shell was destroyed as well, seemingly killing her at long last. Having no body to house her spirit, it is assumed that the threat that Elys presents to the world is done. But then, you never know with wizards - much less techno-wizards...! Techno-Elys Strength Agility Intellect Willpower 16d 3x 16a 14x Hand Size: 5 (30) Edge: 3 Powers: Robotic Construction: since Elys' cybernetic shell didn't have her organic components integrated into its structure, it can be considered a true robot body. As such, Elys' incomplete cybernetic conversion implement possesses the following super-human powers by default: * Body Armor (s): Techno-Elys' highly magical cybernetic shell is quite durable, though in hindsight, it wasn't strong enough to stand up to a highly motivated group of vigilantes. Techno-Elys' cyber-shell is made from m.s. 15 materials, and offers her +4 protection from attack. * Invulnerability to Disease and Toxins (s): being inorganic, Techno-Elys is not vulnerable to most frailties that would incapacitate or kill carbon-based life forms. As such, she has complete resistance to diseases and poisons that would affect organic life-forms, or +10 versus more creative pathogens. Buzzsaw Teeth Matrix (s): while Techno-Elys has teeth, they are mostly for show. When she wishes to maul something with her mouth, she activates a matrix of buzzsaws in her mouth cavity that can take apart even the most durable target, as they inflict +4 damage together. Flight / Levitation (a): far too heavy to fly on her admittedly large wings, Techno-Elys can defy gravity thanks to an internal anti-gravity generator, and may move about thanks to wing-mounted turbo jets. These allow her to fly at speeds from intensity 0 (hovering in place) to intensity 10 (Mach 1). Life Support (s): Techno-Elys does not require food, drink or air, being inorganic. However, she does need a regular refueling of her alchemo-nuclear reactor, which requires an infusion of specially enchanted plutonium every year. This counts as intensity 15 Life Support. Rocket Breath Weapon (a): Techno-Elys can open her dread maw wide in order to unleash a deadly exhalation of rocketry. This swarm of 32 smart, self-propelled projectiles inflict +2 damage when a single rocket strikes a body, boosted by 1 every time the number of rockets that hit doubles. Limitations: In her incomplete state, Techno-Elys was unable to use her magic properly. She could have learned how to manipulate her technological sorcery in time, to be sure, but she simply didn't have it. Any spells she would have cast would have functioned as though they were intensity 0. Likeness: Techno-Elys appeared to be a rather powerful, oversized robot built to look like the skeleton (and some external plating) of a giant dragon. It had red picture tube eyes, speaker banks in its mouth, large aircraft wings with hover jets in the middle, and gaps here and there, where her flesh was supposed to go.
