Ysen Strength Agility Intellect Willpower 5x 7d 7d 8x Hand Size: 4 (25) Edge: 2 Powers: Elfin Physique: born of a large tribe of elves hailing from the plane of Ysgard, Ysen is extradimensional in nature, though is otherwise (save for her planar advantages) an ordinary, green-skinned forest elf. As a result of this, Ysen is possessed of the following powers, common to all her kind: * Enhanced Senses / Infravision (w): Ysen, like all of her extraplanar brethren, has the ability to peer into the infrared portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. This natural (to her) power functions at intensity 5; this is usually more than enough to get about in the dark without incident - in normal darkness, at least. * Resistances (s): supposedly charmed to an extent, all elves have some resistances to natural phenomenon. They age very slowly, you see, and are somewhat immune to mind influencing powers (hypnosis, sleep, etc...). As such, Ysen should receive +3 resistance to these effects. Enhanced Senses / Portal Detection (w): born of the planes, Ysen has been exposed to their curious, not-quite-normal energies for most of her life. As such, she's keenly aware of the doorways between planes, as their energies flow back and forth through these holes in space-time. This power functions at intensity 5. Belief-based Abilities: Transcendent Order Bonuses (w): as a believer in the tenets of the Transcendent Order, Ysen is possessed of the notion that the multiverse acts through all beings. To this end, she attempts to feel the influence of All as she goes about her daily activities, and strives to meld both action and thought into one. This philosophy, combined with her already chaotic nature, makes her much faster on the draw in all situations, mostly because she's trained herself to act without having to think. The net result of this is that, when determining the order of action declaration, Ysen is treated as though her Intellect were +2 higher. Equipment: Enchanted Bow (w): Ysen carries little on her besides this item, a powerful weapon of occult origin that was handed down to her by her own father. Crafted from mere wood, the bow has nonetheless been enchanted to the point that it is of a material strength of 22; unbreakable for the most part, really. That's merely window dressing, however, for the true power of this bow is in what it does to the arrows it fires. To wit, it transforms them into mystic energy once fired, causing those who get hit by said arrows to suffer intensity 13 magical damage per strike; this is incredible deadly, indeed. As such, Ysen will typically restrain herself in the use of this bow's supernatural power unless absolutely necessary; she'd rather not kill if she can avoid doing so. In other words, the use of this arrow-transforming power is voluntary, which lets its wielder 'pull her punch' if so desired. Hindrances: (none) Skills: Bows (a): it may be easy enough to guess, but Ysen is quite skilled in the use of a bow. So much so, in fact, that whenever wielding one in combat, Ysen may do so at a reduced difficulty level. The lady almost always hits what she's aiming for, no matter how small or fast it may be (this is a master level skill). Occult (i): a large portion of Ysen's past has been spent in mortal combat with demonic folks; this wasn't a defensive war, either - she actively seeks them out so she can destroy them. Whenever dealing in matters of a demonic nature, Ysen should make applicable Intellect actions at a reduced difficulty level. Calling: Vengeance: though she's not evil, per se, most of Ysen's actions have been perpetrated out of a need for retribution. She became a demon hunter to get back at the monsters for attacking her people, and she's trying to kill Och because she feels he betrayed her - though that's not actually the case... Costume: Ysen generally wears comfortable, not-quite heroic outfits while adventuring. She usually makes use of a practical pair of brown leather walking boots, a green blouse, green leggings, a brown leather belt, various leather straps to hold her adventuring gear and bow, and of course a quiver for her arrows. Personality: Ysen is a quiet, reserved young woman, though reserved is relative; she is more than happy to act - and act fast - if she feels she must, but she doesn't mince words, and isn't about to be easily swayed by 'talk'. All of this hides a deeply passionate personality, which one will miss unless they get to know her. Real Name: Ysen (loosely translated as 'of Ysgard') Occupation: wanderer, demon hunter Legal Status: a citizen of no nation Marital Status: single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: the Tenacious Ten Height: 5' 2" Hair: dark green Eyes: emerald green Weight: 95 lbs Other Distinguishing Characteristics: being an Ysgardian forest elf, Ysen has a lithe figure, grass green skin, and pointy ears, not to mention her outre dress. Story: Ysen is still rather young for someone of her particular species, what with her being only fifty or so years old. Even she doesn't know her exact age, for numbers - much less the passage of time - are irrelevant to her. You see, she's embraced the ideals of the Transcendent Order, a faction of Sigil, wholeheartedly. Having done so at a very impressionable age, Ysen has grown to be a lady of few words, but plenty of action. After her people were assaulted by vicious Tanar'ri, demons hailing from a few planes down the road, Ysen decided to return the favor, and has hunted the monsters ever since. She didn't do much damage though, not until she met up with a group of like-minded planar adventurers, who she joined in taking the fight to the stinking depths of the Abyss. Though more than half of the folk that went on this particularly deadly expedition fell, the group as a whole did untold damage to the fiends. Though many of the demon hunters then went their separate ways, a small troupe of them stuck together, and fought back the influence of these horrible creatures throughout the planes, even winding up on earth now and then. Ysen has grown to hate the earth, though, for what it did to her favorite companion. You see, her friend was none other than Och, that dwarven adventurer who wound up stranded on our world years ago while 'on the job' for his family. His family is in the tomb guardianship business, you see, and on a trip back home with his compatriots, he was drafted by his folks into several years of service. Though it pained him to do so, Och felt he must do as his family asked, and during a nasty raid in one of the underground dwarven cities that served as a tomb to an unknown tribe of his people, Och fell into some sort of planar transit device and wound up on earth - a one way trip, you see. Ysen searched long and hard for the being she'd chosen to spend her life with (even though that sort of thing generally doesn't occur amongst her kind), to no avail. At least, not until the dragoness Elys stepped into the picture, and showed her images of Och living it up on earth, apparently not trying to get home. Infuriated, Ysen agreed to join Elys' crack squad of hero-killers, the Tenacious Ten, and when Och and his compatriots showed up to take Elys out, the Ten struck - including Ysen. Though Och instantly recognized the impressionable young elf, he also recognized her murderous intent. As such, he had to put his feelings aside and take Ysen down - though not out; he had feelings for the angry young lady too, you know. Once she and the Ten were beaten, though, Elys transported them to safety, thus preventing Och from getting to the bottom of this whole sordid mess. Waking up in an unknown (to her, at least) orchard in California, Ysen now found herself stranded on earth as well, since she had no clue where the nearest portal out was (Elys brought her here from Ysgard, you see). So, having nothing better to do, she's hunting Och down anew. Which shouldn't be too hard, since he's a featured 'character' in a comic book written by one of his super human allies on this world, the one and only Silhouette...
