Many of us would like to think that the government - especially the American government - isn't up to anything... unusual. Or questionable. Or both. However, our investigations indicate that some branches of the United States goverment, as well as other governments abroad, are up to quite a lot of metahuman activity; some is for the better, some most definitely is not. Such agencies are so noted below:

The Bureau of Ascendant Humans (B.A.H.): this now-defunt arm of the government was so good at what they did that no one was even aware that they were charged with keeping a lid on the whole 'super human question' - at least until the secret of their vast extra-legal prisons for ascendant humans came to light. Having been shut down, all their 'charges' are on the loose - for better or worse.

G.I.Joe: known as Special Counter-Terrorist Group Delta in intelligence circles, the G.I.Joe team is actually one of the good things to come from government training and funding. This elite team is constantly in battle against the forces of tyranny, which is usually the evil terrorist organization known as Cobra, though they have been known to work over other terrorists from time to time...
