Origin:

Maurice Ding was originally an ordinary human, though he is one that was so driven towards the goal of mastering his inner demons that he managed to bend his willpower to the point that he manifested super human, psionic abilities. Not to mention the fact that he's a walking pain factory - whether he's armed to the teeth with throwing hatchets or not.

Believer Psionics (Metapsionic Powers):

Invulnerability Aura (a): when he finds himself in combat, Maurice may forego his standard empathic resistance. This is replaced with his so-called 'battle trance', which gives the man complete immunity to all empathic assaults entirely! Even the raging fires of hate within him are subdued, if momentarily, while in this trance - making Maurice want to experience it constantly.

Resistance Aura (s): when not actively in battle, Maurice nonetheless has significant resistance to empathic powers. This resistance functions at intensity 16 or his Willpower score +4 - whichever of the two is currently higher. The only emotions Maurice generally experiences whilst this power is active are his own, overwhelming torment and hatred... which can only be quelled in battle!

Equipment:

Hatchets (s): Maurice has chosen as his personal weapon of choice throwing hatchets. He can wield these weapons in melee to inflict his Strength +3 in slashing damage, or he can fling them at any target within the near missile distance to cause +2 slashing damage. He usually carries... many hatchets on his person - at least a dozen, in fact, if expecting any trouble.

Murder Murder Murder (s): though he has many axes, both for throwing and for more personal combat, Maurice's favorite is Murder Murder Murder. This double bladed battle axe can be used to inflict his Strength +5 in slashing damage, and is made from m.s. 18 materials. Three guesses how Maurice came up with the name for this deadly implement.

Skills:

Business / Finance: though he has the capability to take a person apart (literally) with his throwing hatchets, Maurice has gone to college to become a master of financial matters, in order to crush his foes with money as well as melee. Maurice can engage in fiscal matters in an instinctive manner, bringing his full (albeit frightening) Willpower to bear when doing so.

Skill / Axes (s): since he chose throwing hatchets as his personal weapon of choice shortly after joining the Zen Hell-Kites, Maurice can naturally use them like extensions of his own body. When attacking an opponent or object with a hatchet in melee combat, Maurice may do so at one difficulty level lower than is normally necessary.

Thrown Weapons (a): supplementing his melee prowess with his hatchets, Maurice has learned how to effectively throw his axes at an opponent - which means he has to carry a bunch on him when expecting a fight. When using his axes or any other thrown weapon in ranged combat, Maurice may do so at one difficulty level lower than is usually required.

Weapon Specialist / Murder Murder Murder (s): while Maurice is quite adept in the use of all axes, hatchets and like weaponry, he has trained above and beyond in the use of his personal weapon: Murder Murder Murder. When wielding Murder Murder Murder, Maurice does so at a further reduction in difficulty, and should benefit from a +1 initiative modifier as well.

Contacts:

Maurice has many contacts in both the business and mercenary world; being both a financial wizard and Zen Hell-Kite promotes such connections. Most of these are of course located on the east coast of the United States, centered around Maurice's base of operations in Newark, New Jersey - he loves that town despite all its many supposed faults.

Calling:

Vengeance: Maurice lives for vengeance. He spent his entire adult life questing after the stuff, and through his almost manic perseverance managed to attain it. The problem is that Maurice is a slave to hatred now, however, and he lacks something to hate. This has prompted him to lash out at the world, subconsciously seeking a new nemesis - a target for his rage.

Personality:

Maurice is in reality a petty and vindictive little man. The impotent rage he experienced in his youth drove him to destroy the peers that tormented him, but having done so he had no outlet for the hate that persevered in his shriveled up little soul. Seeking an outlet for this anger lest it consume him, he seems more and more willing of late to engage in bloody mercenary work.

Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Maurice has a wiry, almost gaunt look to him. He's much stronger than his appearance would indicate.

Story:

Maurice Ding grew up in the suburbs of Newark, New Jersey, constantly the target of abuse from his peers. He was a tall, lanky sort, and new ideas were constantly churning around in his head. His lack of interest in athletics or most commercialized pastimes only helped to make him a target of the Cookie Cutter Culture that pervades the American suburbs, and this made Maurice bitter.

Irrationally bitter. By the time he graduated from high school he'd vowed to 'get even' with a very large number of people, but lacked the means of doing so. Despondent and having no real plan for his life, Maurice walked the earth until he encountered a member of the Zen Hell-Kites, who could practically sense the inner turmoil and unreleased rage roiling within him.

Thinking that a bunch of zen martial discipline could do him some good, he brought Maurice into the fold, and it turns out that he was correct. After spending five years with the Hell-Kites, Maurice had transformed his irrational hatred into a logical, clinically devised plan to 'deal' with his former classmates. Of course, you can't just go hacking people up in the States.

To this end, Maurice finally went to college and became a financial wizard; not too difficult a task for him really, what with him being rather intelligent to start with. Once he'd mastered money matters, Maurice went about bankrupting his former enemies as the manager of the neighborhood bank. Those few he couldn't get at legally, Maurice then dispatched in the most gruesome manner possible.

He chopped six of his former classmates up and mailed a piece to each country on earth.

Having dismantled much of his school's Class of '96, Maurice was suddenly bereft of purpose. He'd achieved his petty, vindictive goal of wreaking vengeance on his peers for making his high school life a living hell, so what now? Coasting on auto pilot for a time, Maurice engaged in a few risky financial ventures, some of which paid off; his investment in a new MMORPG turned out to be a very lucrative deal.

However, the former rage that Maurice had managed to dampen during his time with the Hell-Kites was slowly rising to the fore; the one form emotional attack he cannot defend from comes from within. To this end, Maurice has started renting himself out as an elite mercenary and assassin, in order to give his hate and bile an outlet. He mostly works in other countries, but this isn't always practical.

As such, Maurice can sometimes be encountered here or there on some sort of errand for others that need muscle, either alone or in a gaggle of pain-dealers. Though he wishes to get out from under the thumb of others and inflict some harm of his own devising, Maurice has yet to actually decide what he wants to do with himself. As such, he will likely persist in this state for quite some time...
