Origin:
The Undead Girl is Katrina Wexley, one of two greater zombies created by an unhinged wizard with aims of world domination. Angry that this clod has destroyed any chance she had at a mundane life, Katrina has embarked on a reign of terror with her supernatural powers!
Powers:
Agelessness (s): being physically dead, Undead Girl lacks a metabolism to speak of. As such, she does not age whatsoever. If carefully maintained, Undead Girl can last indefinitely (and she's trying hard); she does not age, even if she can be destroyed by conventional means.
Biological Vampirism (i): while she lacks a 'natural' metabolism, Undead Girl can regenerate lost health and regrow lost bits - by consuming the flesh of the living. She regains one lost Health by eating a pound of animal flesh - or 'just' one ounce of human flesh (intensity 5).
Body Armor (s): greater zombies are surprisingly tough, despite often looking like they're being held together by the tiniest of threads. They enjoy +2 protection against all physical attacks that do not strike them in the head; other damage forms affect them normally.
Darkness Generation (a): as undead creatures of some power, Undead Girl can access a strange, otherworldly darkness. She has worked at developing this intensity 12 ability to some extent, and to date she has demonstrated the following power stunt with it:
* Teleportation (i): Undead Girl can teleport from one source of darkness to another, whether it's a mere shadow or a darkness more substantial. She may do this with intensity 8 ability, which allows her a 250 mile range (give or take).
Environmental Independence (s): no longer amongst the living, Undead Girl does not need to eat, drink, breathe or sleep. While she may find herself immobile for vast stretches of time, Undead Girl is never truly 'unconscious', and always alert and aware (after a fashion).
Resistance to Cold and Pressure Variance (s): a walking corpse, Undead Girl need not worry about the rigors of extreme cold or pressure on her body. Possessing this power at +10, she can maneuver in the depths of the sea or in interstellar space at no risk.
Teeth (s): one distressing new ability her status gives her, Undead Girl can clamp onto something with her teeth and hang on. This does not inflict additional damage each turn, but removing Undead Girl's lockjaw requires a challenging difficulty Strength action.
Hindrances / Augmentations:
Curse of the Zombie: all greater zombies may transform living humans into another zombie by biting them. Upon being bitten, one must pass a challenging difficulty Strength action or be afflicted by the mechanism that causes zombification, all of which progress in a like manner.
Once afflicted, the victim must pass an average difficulty Strength action each hour or lose a card of health. Some time after the victim dies, their body will rise again as a zombie, assuming the powers and statistics listed for regular zombies (exceptional abilities may alter this some).
Inert Metabolism: the problem with greater zombies, as far as a long term existence is concerned, is that they have no metabolism. Since their body is 'just there', with most of it slowly decomposing, greater zombies lack the abilities that come with a metabolism - like healing.
Thus, once a greater zombie take damage, it cannot recover from it - without eating meat (see above). Severed bits become inanimate, and won't grow back on their own. However, as long as no damage is taken to the brain, a greater zombie can persist indefinitely, even at zero Health.
Monstrous: greater zombies are icky! Depending on how 'fresh' they are, some greater zombies won't actually have this hindrance, at least on sight; of course, once a greater zombie attacks, it will immediately come into play for the duration of the encounter.
Of course, once a zombie shows obvious signs of being undead (like missing body parts, otherwise lethal wounds that won't heal, etc), the zombie is at Willpower 0 to prevent Edge 0 humans and other like entities from fleeing them on sight - not that they normally try...
Equipment:
Blackberry (i): Undead Girl loves her Blackberry. She uses it to make calls as well as to update her Crime Blog, using it to upload both photos and text-based and audio/video accounts. Of course, since she's a wanted woman, it regularly requires a new cellular account...
Police Utility Belt (i): Undead Girl carries a policeman's belt, which she stole after one caper or another. It has several sets of handcuffs, as well as a flashlight, maps, a pocket for her Blackberry, a holster for her Pistol, and numerous other mundane items that come in handy.
Semi-automatic Pistol (a): one of many things she's stolen from police officers, Undead Girl keeps this weapon as a back-up in case her darkness powers fail her. This weapon inflicts her Agility +4 damage in a single shot, or her Agility +5 damage in a semi-auto burst.
Skills:
Boxing (s): while she's remarkably strong, Undead Girl doesn't just muscle her way through a scrap - she's had actual hand to hand combat training! She may divide her pre-cardplay action score between two unarmed melee attacks, the second of which occurs as a contingent action.
Computers (i): before she was killed with magic, Undead Girl used to be an IT expert (and she's kept her skills up to date). She should receive a reduced difficulty on all matters involving computers, whether she's programming, repairing, building, or even just operating the things.
Crime (i): having renounced normal society, Undead Girl lives for her own benefit - and respects the rights and property of no one (save herself). She has descended into a life of crime, and should receive a reduced difficulty on general criminal activity.
Contacts:
The Undead Girl has few reliable contacts. She cannot contact former family and friends for fear of what they'd think of her 'new' self, while her criminal enterprises have usually left her with more enemies than friends. The only person she can really count on for help would be Boo-Getty.
And his 'help' is flaky at best.
Calling:
Outcast, with a secondary calling of Thrill-seeker: Undead Girl does what she does because she feels that the world hates her for what she is... and she's probably right - not that most people actually believe in zombies. Of course, she's also does it for the sheer thrill of it all...!
Costume:
Undead Girl wears a vaguely tactical uniform most of the time. It includes a gray tank top, green and black camouflaged trousers, black leather boots, green gloves covered in black straps, a policeman's pouch-laden belt, green shoulder pads, and an oversized green and black top hat.
Personality:
Katrina has become slightly unhinged as a result of her transformation into a 'greater' zombie. Having had her normal life stolen from her, she firmly believes that the laws of society no longer apply to her, and as a result acts out her every whim as she sees fit.
Real Name: Katrina Wexley
Occupation: hoodlum, former IT professional
Legal Status: citizen of the United States with a considerable criminal record, not quite legally dead yet
Marital Status: single
Alias(es), if any: the Murder Death Killer
Group Affiliation: none
Height: 5' 6"
Hair: strawberry blonde
Eyes: blue
Weight: 130 lbs
Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Katrina's skin has adopted a gray, sickly pallor - but other than that she looks normal - she vigorously maintains her physical integrity.
Story:
Like Boo-Getty before her, Katrina Wexley was slain by an insane wizard on the eve of the new millennium, killed by magical lightning in the middle of a New Years' Eve party. She was struck down at the very end of the year, thus making her the last person to die in her century.
Her corpse was stolen by this wizard, who promptly put her on ice until he was ready to reanimate her and his previous 'catch', which he did several years later. Upon reanimating both her and Boo-Getty, this wizard was slain by his creations, who weren't about to be his slaves.
Particularly since he'd, you know, killed them.
Though Boo-Getty was quite sweet on her, Katrina was annoyed by his boorish 19th century attitudes and antics, and went her own way. The only problem was that she'd quickly found her re-creator had ruined her life in addition to killing her; her family and friends all thought her dead.
And showing up anew, as some sort of a zombie, wasn't really going to help matters any. Despondent, Katrina quickly devolved into a life of random crime. She decided that, since she wasn't allowed to live a normal life, why should she bother respecting the rules of such?
She's caused all manner of chaos since then, including a few inadvertent zombie outbreaks. This has kept adventurers in her vicinity quite busy, as she's engaged in all manner of crimes, both mundane and fantastic, though not bothering to cover her tracks has made her a wanted woman.
Of course, Katrina has only ran with her notoriety.
Setting up a web site on a foreign server, she has christened herself the Undead Girl, and blogs about her ambling, random crime spree. She adds text and photos, along with haphazard audio / video commentary to spice things up some. This entertains her, but can be a hassle.
Telling the 'good guys' what your plan is in advance tends to draw them out after all. She takes all this in stride though, delighting in the smashing up of would-be 'heroes' who are stupid enough to get in the way of her wishes. It's something to do with her endless existence, after all...!
