Golden Girl
Strength 6d |
Agility 4d |
Intellect 3d |
Willpower 6x |
Powers:
Energy Blast / Light: Gwenny Lou's only real power is her ability to generate blasts of golden light; she can do this at intensity 10. These blasts act like a telekinetic force bolt, inflicting the power's intensity in kinetic damage with each successful hit. Gwenny hasn't demonstrated any other power stunts normally associated with light control just yet.
Hindrances:
(none)
Skills:
Boxing: an accomplished scrapper, Gwenny Lou can divide her total action score by two, which allows her to make two unarmed melee attacks within one exchange. The first will happen normally, and the other will occur as a contingent action.
Languages: Gwenny Lou is knowledgable in both English and Japanese, able to speak both languages fluently.
Martial Arts: Gwenny Lou can use her agility instead of strength in order to resolve melee attack, if she so chooses. Though this doesn't help her, she can also choose not to attack in an exchange, thus reducing the difficulty of catching a thrown object by one category, or reduce the difficulty rating of actions that reduce the damage caused by falling by one category.
Calling:
Youthful Exuberance: Gwenny Lou Sabuki is a teenage heroine, and as such, she pursues the forces of darkness with reckless enthusiasm. While she usually fights evil within the United States, she nonetheless gives the good fight her all.
Costume:
Golden Girl's costume was a very short-cut yellow Robe, trimmed with red stripes. It was kept closed by a yellow belt with a large triangluar belt buckle with a sun emblem on it. She wore red shoes with tie strips that ran up to her mid calves.
Personality:
A normal fifteen year old girl, Gwenny Lou Sabuki thoroughly enjoyed kicking Nazi ass with (or without) her golden energy beams. One interesting thing to note is that Gwenny Lou had a big old crush on Toro, and went out of her way to be noticed by the flaming hero...

Story:
Gwenny Lou Sabuki is the daughter of famed Surgeon Dr. Sam Sabuki, a second generation American citizen. Gwenny Lou was a student in California when she and her father were "relocated" to a relocation camp.
After he was injured in battle, it was discovered that Dr. Sabuki is the only one who could preform surgery on the wounded Toro, and as such, Bucky went to find the surgeon and ended up being kidnapped alongside the Doctor and his daughter.
Held as a captive of Agent Axis, Gwenny and Davey Mitchell (another youth captured by the Nazi villain) were strapped into a device that would kill them if Sabuki failed to preform a special surgery to seperate the three Axis agents that had been fused into the single being that was Agent Axis.
Toro, having woken up, decided to free Bucky. With that done, the two of them caused a ruckus which fried the machinery, bathing Gwenny Lou and Davey with a strange energy that ultimately gave them powers. All four of the 15 year olds then whaled on the Nazi scum, and only Agent Axis managed to escape as the Invaders showed up.
Securing permission from Captain America, Bucky and the rest of the Commandos went after Agent Axis and defeated him infront of a "Relocation Camp" commander who tried to imprison Gwenny Lou. Deciding to let the matter go, the four of them left with Agent Axis and returned to the Invaders, only to find out that Namor had impersonated Agent Axis and used the same amount of power that the Agent would.
It was a test of their power and a show of power to the commander of the Relocation Camp.
The four of them stayed together as the Kid Commandos after that (when Bucky and Toro weren't causing the Nazis trouble with the Invaders, of course). When not causing trouble as a team themselves, the Kid Commandos stayed in the U.S., attending war bond rallies and helping support American morale.
In another caper, Gwenny Lou was kidnapped by U-Man on the behalf of Lady Lotus, who had become interested in the young Japanese-American girl with super powers. The Invaders and the other Kid Commandos had come to her rescue, but Golden Girl had all but freed herself before they arrived.
That was her last known exploit during World War 2.
During the fifties, Gwenny Lou Sabuki saw some more crime-fighting action, this time alongside Captain America 3 as his side kick. She was with him for awhile, until the super hero gig simply lost its luster for a time. During the worst of these times, both Gwenny and the third Captain America retired, both moving on to different things.
Using Golden Girl in other stories:
The current status of Golden Girl (either past or present) has yet to be revealed. She may very well have survived the Vintage Age, having gone on to lead a full life, and could possibly be alive to this day, making her approximately seventy years old. She probably wouldn't be a super heroine in the current day, unless she reveived some sort of de-aging, as lots of Vintage heroes tend to do.
If one was wanting to use Golden Girl in a modern hero tale, well, she'd need to be de-aged, or even be replaced by a younger, more modern Golden Girl -- maybe even the original's daughter or grand-daughter. Of course, in Vintage Age adventures, this is a moot point, as Golden Girl is still around, and still as youthful as she was in her original stories. So, either way, have fun with her! She's Spunky!
