Powers:

Troubleseeker:
this strange variant of the 'standard' troubleseeker power causes Spencer Keen to rise from the earth wherever evil manifests itself. Though he is dead, he nonetheless returns to life to avenge these wrongs before returning to the earth to continue his slumber of death. Consider this to be an intensity 15 power.

As such, this also makes for an interesting variant of the Immortality power, as Keen can be killed again and again, but he'll eventually arise anew in places of great evil, in order to stamp it out. If he was revived after almost ninety years of underground burial, it is safe to assume that he can always return to battle evil wherever it exists.

Equipment:

Super-charged Speedster:
this strange device, held for a time by Spencer Keen, allowed him to move at 'unlimited' speeds. This is highly unlikely, but this vehicle probably worked as per the typical sports car, with a top speed around 105 m.p.h. or so (intensity 5 land speed). Of course, he didn't keep it for long, at any rate...

Hindrances:

(none)

Skills:

Boxing:
wielding no super-human attack powers aside from his phenomenal strength, Spencer has learned how to use his fists to fight evil - and how! He can divide his total action score between two attacks, the last of which will occur as a contingent action.

Calling:

Protector:
Spencer Keen, the Blue Blaze, acts to protect innocent people from the scourge of evil. To this end, he is constantly rising from the dead, in the vicinity of great evil, in order to wipe it out. Though the Blue Blaze really forces him to do this, Spencer doesn't mind...

Costume:

Blue spandex body suit, with black boots, a studded weight-lifter belt (later removed), and a hood that covers all of his head, save for his eyes, mouth, and chin (later removed).

Personality:

Little is known about the personality of he that rises in the name of the blue blaze. He is likely out of touch with most modern issues (anything past the nineteenth century), but probably willing to learn, given the chance. Of course, this is probably because Spencer spends so much time being dead...

Story:

On his way to a college masquerade (which conveniently explains his costume), Spencer Keen decided to visit his father, Doctor Keen, in his laboratory. Excited about his newest discovery, Doctor Keen demonstrates the properties of the blue blaze, a sort of blue fire suspended in a reddish liquid by some sort of hourglass beaker apparatus.

He shows Spencer the effect it has had on lab rats, animals he killed with the strange energy only to watch them return to life again only days later. Just then, a tornado strikes Midwest College, and the laboratory is torn to shreds, the blue blaze striking and killing Spencer before the flying debris could get to him and rip him apart.

Eighty eight years later, in 1940, Spencer Keen rises from the earth to stop a couple of grave robbers from raiding his cemetary. Realizing what had happened to him, Spencer adopts the identity of the Blue Blaze, knowing that he will be forever at the beck and call of the strange force that has somehow revived him after his death so long ago.

Knowing his purpose in life, the Blue Blaze makes for the lair of the evil Professor Maluski, a man that has found a way to reanimate zombies to serve in his armies of world conquest! In his second adventure, the Blue Blaze interrupts the plans of Barko the inventor, committing him in an asylum after his ice rays and explosives fail to slay the Blaze.

The Blue Blaze's third adventure pitted him against Doctor Gair, criminal mastermind, and his superpowerful minion. This unnamed minion is possessed of powerful eye beams, which he could use to summon forth monsters, and make a death ray. Of course, the Blue Blaze kills them both in the end, reflecting this gazer's rays upon himself and his boss.

After this victory, the Blue Blaze stops the evil Doctor Vortex from sparking a war between two European nations on the brink of conflict already. He defeated the evil Doctor by carrying him into some 'lime pits' and leaving him for dead -- and don't doubt that only the Blue Blaze emerged from the pits, leaving Doctor Vortex to his fate.

The Blue Blaze was next slated to battle the Vampire of Doom, whoever that may have been, but that particular story never saw the light of day, for some reason. It is assumed that the Blue Blaze won out in the end of this conflict, and that he continues to battle evil to this day, as the blaze continually raises him in the fight against Evil!

Using the Blue Blaze in other stories:

As was stated above, the Blue Blaze is an inadverdently immortal hero, in that the force that sustains his continuous existence constantly revives him in new and interesting locations to battle evil. His aging processes have essentially stopped, since he's dead most of the time, so he can likely appear in stories that take place in both past and present campaigns.
