Origin:

Flexo the Rubber Man is an artifical being, a sort of construct built by Doctors Joel and Joshua Williams, out of 'living rubber, filled with a secret gas, and operated by remote control'. For all intents and purposes, just consider him a robot.

Known Powers:

Robotic Construction:
as an android being, Flexo the Rubber Man isn't prone to some of the failings that organic beings experience. For instance, he has Monstrous (75) rank resistance to Disease and Poisons. He also doesn't age, per se; as long as he is properly maintaining himself, he won't succumb to system degradation.

Body Resistance: Made from a top-secret, rubber-like compound, Flexo has a natural, Remarkable (30) ranked body resistance, which provides 'him' the following resistance to the various attack forms:

* Rm 30 / Gd 10 / Pr 4 / Shift 0 / Shift 0

Flight: Flexo is also equipped with the impressive ability to fly, which he can do at Typical (6) air speed -- 90 miles per hour. As non-aerodynamic as Flexo is, this is quite impressive, indeed).

Radio Transceiver: Flexo is sentient, though he can be controlled by his two creators as they see fit, via a radio link to the Rubber Man. This radio link has Typical (6) range, or 100 miles, before Flexo is considered 'out of range'. The exact location of this transceiver on Flexo is unknown.

Equipment:

(none)

Quirks:

Alien Customs:
well, Flexo isn't possessed of alien customs as much as he has no customs or culture to speak of. He's virtually ignorant of what makes society tick (any society), and as such, often acts 'wrong' at times. Because of this, people often react towards Flexo as if his Popularity were -1 CS (as if it weren't low enough...).

Talents:

(none known)

Contacts:

Well, Flexo can probably rely on his creators, Doctor Joshua and Joel Williams, for aid if he should need it. However, they're usually relying on HIM for help when they're in a hot spot, so their aid should be dependent on the situation, of course.

Costume:

Well, Flexo doesn't have a costume, per se, unless you count the pot-like helmet he wears at all times. In appearance, Flexo looks just like the Michelin Man, though red, and always with a smile on his face.

Personality:

Little is known about the actual personality of Flexo. It is known that he is a sentient being, and that he has a desire to help people by fighting crime. However, for most of his known appearances, he's been under the control of his two creators, who likely don't care too much for the notion of his freedom.

Story:

After years of experimentation, Doctors Joel and Joshua Williams perfected their greatest creation: Flexo the Rubber Man! This robot is intelligent and sentient, though the two doctors see fit to control him via remote radio link most of the time. And, most of the time, they use him to fight the scourge of crime!

Flexo has been seen during no less than four separate missions against criminals. The first was to prevent the evil Doctor Murdo from fashioning a Death Ray from some radium he'd stolen. The second saw Flexo retrieving a secret 'torpedo repeller' that the spy Karl Damos had stolen from the Williams Doctors.

Later, Flexo was seen bringing the arson spree of the diabolical Iron Duke to a screaming halt, and his final mission brought him to Germany (well, more or less) to rescue the Williams Doctors and their experimental explosive formula. They and their formula had apparently been taken by German operatives for some evil purpose or another.

After this, the public saw little more of Flexo the Rubber Man, and he seems to have drifted off into obscurity for the rest of World War 2, and beyond. Of course, there are a few interesting questions about Flexo that can lead to further adventures revolving around his person, both good and evil.

For instance, the two Doctors that created Flexo could operate him via a radio link, basically telling him what to do. Now, the big question is whether or not he wanted to help them out, or if his very will was tied to that radio link. If he isn't beholden to it, he could very well be living out a life all his own somewhere isolated.

Using Flexo the Rubber Man in other stories:

Keeping the above in mind, Flexo can be used in several capacities in a super hero campaign. As an android, Flexo isn't bound by organic limitations, and as such, he can appear in campaigns that occur in both the past and present, either as a hero or villain. If he is under his own control, Flexo might be continuing his work against the criminal element on his own, or with the Williams doctors still.

However, if Flexo is truly at the beck and call of the Williams' radio controller, well, all sorts of bad things could happen. Flexo could be forced to perform evil actions by anybody that could seize the control mechanism, or the Williams' could go bad, and make Flexo do things that he doesn't really want to. This sets up a tragic adventure potential, forcing heroes to try and free Flexo from the will of his evil masters.

If they can do so, heroes are likely to remove that radio linkup within Flexo's body, thus freeing him from future control by other evil folk. In doing so, they could make an eternal ally out of... Flexo, the Rubber Man!!!
