Skills:

Scientific Genius:
a true master of all the traditional sciences (save for sociology, as he simply doesn't understand people), Hercules should be considered a true scientific genius. As such, he is allowed more than the standard number of skills, as long as they're sciences. His skills include:

* Biochemistry: this is the science of life processes, whether they be plant, animal, fungus, or even viral in nature. This skill allows Hercules special knowledge about drugs, poisons, and diseases, and how to counter the effects of such things.

* Biology: this skill allows for the general identification of life forms, whether they be plant, animal, fungus, or whatever, and lets Hercules predict such life's behavior (if applicable). In other words, he knows how animals generally behave in the wild.

* Chemistry: the science of the atom! Hercules, if he's so inclined, can combine seemingly ordinary elements and compounds into totally different compounds. He can also manufacture antidotes for inorganic toxins, and identify chemical compounds by smell, taste, or touch.

* Genetics: this is the science of genes. Hercules understands how two sets of genes combine to make a new, third set, as well as the effect radiation and other mutagenic stimuli have on gene structures. Further, he can use this skill to identify new life forms.

* Geology: the science of the earth. Hercules can use this skill to identify various rock types, understand plate tectonics, and possibly even predict earthquakes or volcano eruptions. Were he so inclined, he could possibly even find oil under the surface with this skill...

* Medicine: Hercules is an expert on health sciences, and can easily perform medical procedures on a body, though his expertise in this area is limited to 1940's techniques. He can use this skill to perform first aid, restoring a card of health to a body who lost it within the last exchange.

* Physics: the science of everyday occurences. Though Hercules has nothing on Newton, he understands the core principles of gravity, spatial geometry, flight, light, and sound. Further, he can use this information to perform stunts that would otherwise seem impossible.

* Radiology: the science of radiation. Hercules understands things about the electromagnetic spectrum, including most discrete types of radiation (gamma rays, x-rays) as well as charged particles (alpha waves, beta waves). He can handle radioactive materials safely, given the proper gear.

Calling:

Vestige of Humanity:
thanks to his bizarre, isolated background, Hercules knows very little about the human experience. Add in his freakish height and strength, and that makes him a veritable outcast who, despite being okay with himself, occasionally longs to simply fit in with society.

Costume:

Well, he was first seen in a sort of fur-covered bathing suit -- that was it. Later, he went to wearing a tuxedo sized to his body, which he used when fighting crime and performing for the circus.

Personality:

Hercules Davis is a very smart, yet very simple man. He's a veritable man of science, thanks to his father's teachings, but he has little in the way of practical social skills, or an understanding of Life in general. He's almost like a blank slate, though he does want to do good for the people of earth. He's just not sure how to start, yet...

Real Name: Hercules David
Occupation: adventurer, side show freak
Legal Status: assumed American citizen with no known criminal record
Marital Status: single
Alias(es), if any: none
Group Affiliation: none

Height: 10'
Hair: blond
Eyes: ?
Weight: ?
Other Distinguishing Characteristics: well, he's a ten foot tall behemoth, but that's about it.

Story:

The 'master' of science, Doctor David left for Snow Island years ago in order to rear his new son as a perfect specimen of humanity, both in body and in mind. As the child grew in size and power, however, the doctor died, leaving him to fend for himself, until he was collected by two circus minions that thought he'd make a great freak show attraction.

Hercules, as he is called by the circus fools (because he's so darn big), doesn't seem to troubled by the kidnapping, of course. He wants to see America, and since he has nothing better to do, why stir up trouble? The next time he is seen, Hercules is in a full tuxedo and top hat, and being touted as Hercules, the greatest Titan of all time!!!

After the show, Hercules is being interviewed by Daily Globe reporter Bobbie Drew, when a monstrous bull broke loose from the tents and charged the two. Hercules then grabbed the bull by the horns (ugh) and snapped its neck. Seeing this incredible display, the reporter tells Hercules that he should do more for mankind than just being a circus freak.

Hercules agrees, and as such, goes to help stop up the local dam, which has suddenly broken open. It takes him a little bit, but he stops the flowing river from destroying the circus and a local city. With some prompting from his new reporter friend, Hercules makes for the City, so he can use his abilities to fight crime!

However, it would appear that Hercules' war on crime wasn't too successful, as he was back in the circus for his next (and last) appearance in comicdom. He wound up getting involved in the mad schemes of the evil Lemo, an inventor of mechanical monstrosities and other general mad scientist fripperies. You know the type.

The evil Lemo eventually captures Hercules and operates on his brain (!), in an attempt to make him his drooling slave. This plan fails, however, and Hercules defeats Lemo by blowing up his sprawling estate, with Lemo in it. The further adventures of the perfect human known as Hercules, however, were never detailed to the public.

Using Hercules 2 in other stories:

Perhaps Hercules lived out his days in the circus, bored to tears with modern society. Or, maybe he met a dark, dark end against some criminal mastermind or another. One can never tell. However, he's yet another vintage age character looking for a home, possibly a home at the gaming table... think about it, already!

After all, Hercules wanted to help the world, and he may eventually venture forth from the side show tent to do so once again. Perhaps the City he wants to help is one that a group of heroes are wandering about in during the 1940s, perhaps in a time travel tale. Or, maybe the heroes in this adventure are native to that era, in a sort of vintage campaign, and could use a random encounter or two...
