Origin:

Jim 'Taxi' Taylor is a perfectly normal human. Well, a human with an inventor's genius and a super powerful universal tool that comes in the form of a car, that is...

Known Powers:

(none)

Equipment:

The Wonder Car:
visually described as 'an overstuffed sausage with wheels and a windshield', the Wonder Car nonetheless has abilities that more than make up for its odd appearance. In fact, the Wonder Car can do just about anything that Taxi Taylor needs it to. For instance, it has the following capabilities:

* Selection: the Wonder Car is equipped with the ability to account for 'any human need', and as such, it is defined as having this power at Incredible (40) rank. The Car can transmit radio waves, fly, change its shape, dive underwater, and can make all sorts of nifty, last-minute weapons it needs to do the job.

* Vehicular Statistics: the Wonder Car, in addition to the above super-power, has these impressive vehicular ability scores:

Quirks:

Stubbornness, x2:
Taxi Taylor just don't know when to quit. He's about one of the most stubborn guys you're likely to meet. As such, it's hard for him to back down from something once he's made his mind up about it; in order to do so, Taxi must pass a Psyche FEAT roll at -2 CS.

Talents:

Pilot / Ground and Air:
Taxi is an extremely competent vehicle operator, able to drive just about any ground vehicle in existence, and fly any plane currently in operation. Any FEATs required while piloting any sort of vehicle (as long as it pertains to such) should be made at +1 CS by Taxi.

Repair / Tinkering: Taxi is incredibly skilled in the art of tinkering with automotive technology, having built the Wonder Car with nothing other than standard, 1940s auto technology. His Reason score should be considered +2 CS for the purposes of either repairing or modifying cars, trucks, or any other combustion-engine powered vehicle.

Contacts:

Jim 'Taxi' Taylor had no known contacts. The only folks he didn't kill in his tales were some men working for the defense department, who laughed him out of their building when he presented to them his Wonder Car. As such, Taxi fights crimes of all stripes solo.

Costume:

None. As far as can be seen, Taxi wears ordinary clothes while at 'work', either pulling taxi fares in Washington D.C. or when actually fighting crime.

Personality:

Taxi Taylor appeared to be a real go-getter, a man refusing to quit at all costs. After being dealt a severe blow to his ego by the government, Taxi simply turned his gear to another facet of national defense: the super taxi cabbie! He's tenacious in the extreme, and as such, someone you probably don't want to get mad at you...

Story:

His greatest creation: the Wonder Car. Jim 'Taxi' Taylor had just completed it, and was going to give it to the American military for use in the War. He took it directly to the Defense Department, and explained what it could do, but the fools laughed him right out of the building. Not giving up, he decided to use it solo against the forces of evil.

Until he could afford to, however, Taxi continued on as a cabbie in Washington D.C., so he can gain the proper amount of capital in the capitol. However, that was not to be; while on the job, a fare proved to be a pair of Nazi spies! Listening in on their conversation with microphones, Taxi Taylor uncovered a dastardly sabotage plot!

Dropping the spies off at their home, he erected a radio antenna from the Wonder Car, and eavesdropped on the spies' transmissions, in order to see what they were truly up to. Finding out that a German ship was in the New York Harbor, he discovered that the ship was laying mines to deal with two American destroyers, and sprang into action!

Transforming the Wonder Car into an air plane, Taxi flew to New York and spotted the hidden German ship right off, diving underwater to disarm the 'magnetic mines' that the ship was laying around the American destroyers. Dismayed by this, the Germans dropped some depth charges on the Wonder Car, though they only slowed it down -- they couldn't stop it.

Popping out to hammer the dents in the 6" steel frame (underwater, no less), Taxi was attacked by a German diver, sent down to ensure his demise. Well, Taxi Taylor easily dispatches this enemy of America, slicing his air hose and watching him die a horrible death, laughing all the while. And then he uses his Wonder Car's weapon of 'death'.

The Wonder Car then released a lot of steaming bubbles, bubbles that somehow created a vacuum effect under the German ship, sinking it outright. Satisfied that all of the Germans are dealt with (and how), Taxi returned to Washington D.C. to deal with the remaining two spies. Of course, they were already burning their house down to destroy evidence of their plot.

Hopping in the house in fireman's gear, Taxi Taylor falls victim to the villains' death trap: the safe containing their records stuns him, holding him to it with electrical current. Of course, his Wonder Car was programmed to pull him out of the house after two minutes, so he avoids getting blown up by the heat-sensitive bomb trigger in the safe.

He uses a foam spray to put out the house fire, and then calls the police, telling them what was going on there. Taxi Taylor then drove off into the sunset, never again to be seen by the comic book world again. He may have just continued being a cabbie, as there's more money in that than super-heroing, but one never knows...

Using Taxi Taylor in other stories:

It's hard to say what exactly Taxi Taylor would do in other tales. In the forties, he could be a cabbie for some super heroes on their way somewhere or other, and decide that he wants to help them fight crime. Alternately, he could discover some other villianous plot via his job as a taxi cab driver, and act to bring it down, attracting heroes to his action (and the mayhem that inherently follows)...
