Origin:
Zara is a normal human. Well maybe abnormal, in that she grew up alone in the Jungle, learning how to survive however she could - with nothing to rely on but her own, natural ability.
Known Powers:
(none)
Equipment:
Bow: Zara has a bow. It was made by her, and she can use it to inflict Good (10) Edged Attack damage with each deadly shot made against her opponents. She can also use it to perform trick shots, as well, such as cutting ropes, etc... She also carries a quiver of about two dozen arrows, so she can fire for extended lengths of time, if necessary.
Quirks:
Alien Customs: having grown up in the Jungle, Zara typically comes across as being an uneducated primitive. She's quite smart; it's just that she doesn't care about most things that more 'urbane' characters worry about. Her concerns are the Jungle, and it shows.
Talents:
Survival: Zara is well versed in foraging for food and water, having been forced to scrounge for such since she was a child. She can conceivably find such materials in any environment, though her expertise is in jungle environs.
Tumbling: Zara is highly agile, as she's grown rather good at swinging about on vines throughout the jungle. As such, she can drop to the ground and land on her feet, with a successful Agility FEAT, from any fall or drop that does not cause her damage.
Weapon Specialist / Bow: Zara is one heck of a crack shot with a bow, able to hit extremely small or distant (or both!) targets without undue difficulty. She can make Agility FEATs to hit targets with her bow at +2 CS.
Contacts:
Well, Captain Jeff Graves could be considered a contact, as Zara has saved his sorry butt on numerous occasions, and she could conceivably receive help from him should she need it. Unless, of course, he's an ungrateful jerk...
Costume:
Zara wears a leopard-skin two-piece outfit. The top only drapes over one shoulder, and the bottom is a low-cut piece that covers her vitals, and about two inches of thigh. In other words, it's the stereotypical jungle heroine costume.
Personality:
Zara seemed to care about the Jungle, and the people that lived in it. She did her best to help protect people from its inherent dangers, or from the evils that menaced it. This, of course, included stupid people that don't listen to her advice...

Story:
Zara of the Jungle, her real name unknown, was brought to the Jungle by her parents, who were absolutely tired of the crime inherent to the 'civilized' world. They died soon after, and Zara was left to grow up in the Jungle on her own, where she became quite good at providing for herself and protecting the Jungle's weak and innocent from evil.
Enter the current situation.
In the middle of a war between two Jungle tribes, Captain Jeff Graves attempts to stop the conflict somehow. Upon entering the wild, he is quickly pounced upon by a deadly lion, which he dispatches with apparent ease. He eventually makes his way to a village, though nobody is there. Well, nobody living, anyway.
Everybody there was dead. Investigating the carnage (possibly for loot), the Captain finds a spent ammunition cartridge, at which point Zara of the Jungle swings from the trees at him. Landing right in front of the man, Zara tries to warn the naive Captain off, but he doesn't listen. After all, Zara is just a girl -- what does she know?
Of course, he gets jumped by a gaggle of natives, who he manages to defeat with a spear. Following the fleeing Jungle men, the Captain falls into a pit trap, where the natives grab him and tie him up. Taking him to their leader, the non-native Bwana Gombo, the Captain finds out that this man is starting the tribal war, and he wants him dead.
Appearing from nowhere, Zara saves the impudent man that didn't listen to her earlier, shooting his would-be killer with an arrow. She frees the Captain with another shot, and then descends from the trees to seize the assailant's gun. The Captain, meanwhile, punches out Gombo and turns him over to the tribal authorities...
In her next published adventure, Zara helps Captain Graves to interrupt the flow of an arab slave trade's, well, stock in trade. And that's about it for Zara, as far as the world has seen so far.
Using Zara of the Jungle in other stories:
Well, Zara is truly at home in the African Jungles (pick one; the original writer never did). As such, she can be quite an interesting body to run into while adventuring there in the forties. In current day campaigns, of course, heroes could always have run-ins with the descendents of Zara, likely possessing similar capabilities and such. One never knows...
