Namor, the Sub-Mariner Strength Agility Intellect Willpower 16c 8c 5a 9c Hand Size: 5 (30) Edge: 3 Powers: Ability Boost (w): somewhat like the Incredible Hulk, Namor gets stronger as he gets angrier, though his power is not quite as potent as the Hulk's. This is a intensity 4 power, raising Namor's Strength by one every exchange in which he's exceptionally enraged, to a maximum of 20. Animal Control (w): one ability Namor possesses that he does not use often, this power showcases his ability to communicate mentally with marine life forms. He may do so at intensity 10 to non-sentient life forms, but only at intensity 5 with intelligent undersea life. Electrical Control (i): though he rarely uses this ability, Namor can generate impressive bursts of electrical power, doing so at intensity 10. Underwater, this power is especially dangerous, as Namor can use it to strike everybody within firing range, without pushing. His one power stunt: * Energy Absorption / Electricity (i): in addition to his ability to generate electricity, Namor can also absorb and rechannel electrical attacks used against him, either to harmlessly dissipate such energies or to add them to his electrical bursts, as described above, on a point-per-point basis. Lightning Speed (a): Namor has a specialized form of this power, which allows him to move incredibly fast - when swimming underwater, that is. In essence, he can swim at intensity 2 speeds underwater, about 60 miles per hour. Longevity (s): as do all Atlanteans, Namor is possessed of an extended lifespan, one that allows him to scoff at 'short lived' human beings. He possesses this power at intensity 1, giving him a lifespan at least double that of an ordinary human being. Radar Sense (w): Namor has demonstrated that he possesses the advanced 'radar' sense of deep ocean fish, using it to spot invisible people on occasion. He wields this power at intensity 10, giving him a 3-D sense of everything around his person. Waterbreathing (s): an obvious result of Namor's human-Atlantean heritage is his waterbreathing ability; this lets him breathe either on the surface or deep below the ocean's depths. He wields this power at intensity 10, which also grants him a +10 resistance to pressure variance. Wings (a): in addition to his other formidable powers, Namor's unique physiological makeup has given him a near-unique mutation: tiny, yet powerful wings situated on his ankles. Thanks to these small growths on his legs, Namor can fly at intensity 2 speeds (again, at about 60 miles per hour). Hindrances: Susceptible to Dehydration: if he's somehow dried out, so to speak, Namor acts as if all of his ability scores are zero when performing any actions. This massive drain on his effectiveness can be lost after Namor spends one exchange immersed in water. Equipment: Atlantean Jet Craft (i): a vehicle not unlike the Avengers Quinjet (and since the designs were so similar, it is safe to assume that the engineers of the Quinjet patterned the look after Namor's Vehicle). It had Vertical Take-Off and Landing (v.t.o.l.) capability, and rarely seemed to need refueling. The Jet needed a crew of 2 and could comfortably hold up to 8 people. It was able to fly at speeds of 450 miles per hout (a flight intensity of 8), had an effective material strength of 12, and provided its occupants an effective body armor bonus of +2. Skills: Biology / Icthyology (i): as the veritable master of an undersea kingdom, it is vital that Namor know everything there is to know about undersea life, ranging from the mundane to the downright fantastic in sea creatures. Intimidation (w): good at terrifying mere surface men (amongst others), Namor can force a being to do his general bidding by making a show of imminently hurting them, as well as passing an average difficulty Willpower (Willpower) action against them. Languages (i): in his many travels and battles throughout the ages, Namor has mastered the Atlantean (of course), English, and German tongues, in addition to other possible languages as of yet unrevealed (Russian might be one such language). Lore / Atlantis (i): having grown up in the underwater realm of Atlantis, and being a member of that fantastic nation's royalty, Namor has found it absolutely necessary to learn everything about his homeland's amazing past. Oceanography (i): in addition to being a veritable wellspring of knowledge about undersea life, Namor also has quite a competent understanding of ocean currents, dangers inherent with depths and intense pressures, and the effect of pollution on the oceanic ecosystems. Piloting (a): as Atlantean technology is more advanced than current, human equipment, Namor can easily be considered a competent pilot of any sort of aircraft, including those built in the 90's. This, of course, allows him to fly his own Atlantean Jet Craft... Politics (w): the prince of the Atlantean Kingdom, Namor has learned all his life how to deal with the ins and outs of political intrigue. This helps him to reduce the difficulty level of actions geared towards turning others towards his point of view, and to understand petty bureaucracies. Spears (s): having grown up in the undersea kingdom of Atlantis, Namor has naturally mastered the use of the spear - and its close relative, the trident. Though he does not need weaponry to fight, Namor may nonetheless use these weapons at a reduced difficulty. Undersea Combat (a): this skill allows Namor to utilize his Agility score instead of his Strength when making underwater combat maneuvers, as well as substituting his Agility score instead of his Intellect for the purposes of determining the order of action declaration in underwater battles. Whips (s): supplementing his ability to use spears and tridents, Namor can also wield other customary Atlantean weaponry, such as nets and whips. He may use these items with ease in battle, gaining a reduced difficulty when attempting to strike or grapple a foe with them. Calling: Guardian, then Protector: originally a rabid guardian of the seas, Namor actually fought humanity as a 'villain' at first, though his outlook changed with the rise of fascism across Europe. This transformed him into a protector of the various forces that fought such evil on a global scale. Costume: While he fights the forces of evil, both at home and on the surface, Namor tends to wear a very... minimal outfit. It consists entirely of a pair of green trunks with a scaled texture of Atlantean design, coupled with a golden belt with a shell buckle. Personality: Namor is a firm believer in honor and is a fierce Atlantean patriot. He is capable of rampages of terror and dislikes anyone who might call his honor into question. He has a nasty temper and probably shouldn't be provoked (though most folks manage it, intentionally or not). Real Name: Namor McKenzie Occupation: adventurer, Prince of Atlantis Legal Status: Atlantean citizen with a criminal record in the United States Marital Status: single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: the Invaders Height: 6' 2" Hair: black Eyes: blue-green Weight: 290 lbs Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Namor is possessed of highly arched eyebrows, pointy ears, almost invisible gills, and of course his winged ankles. Story: Namor grew up in Antarctic Atlantis as the hybrid son of an Atlantean princess and a human ship captain. Though he was royalty, Namor constantly had to prove himself time and time again, as many of his people felt him an outsider or inferior due to his hybrid status. This was not helped much when, during his adolescence, Namor developed strange, winged ankles that gave him the power of flight. After discovering two seeming robots invading Atlantis, Namor attacked them - only to find they were actually men in diving suits. Thinking the humans may be up to no good, Namor's mother sent him to the surface world to learn more. He arrived in New York City without incident, though shortly after he caused all kinds of public distress by simply being himself - arrogant and haughty. As the people of New York began to treat him with hostility, Namor returned the feeling in kind, and began a campaign of terror throughout the city. He even allowed the police of the city to arrest him in order to show how impotent they were before him, and when they threw him in the electric chair, an enraged Namor caused even more havoc than before! This eventually led to an encounter with the Human Torch, an artificial man who burned with a searing flame that could match Namor's own power. The two would fight repeatedly over time, at least until the United States' official entry into World War II. When this happened, Namor was eventually convinced to help the Allies against the Axis powers, though Namor had to see the Nazis at their worst before he relented. Teamed up with Captain America (and his side kick Bucky), not to mention former enemy the Human Torch (and his own side kick, Toro), Namor was one of the founding members of the mighty Invaders, a team of Allied super-humans against whom few fascists could stand. Namor would encounter all manner of villains during his time with the Invaders, from the Red Skull to Baron Blood - and even a rogue Atlantean, Meranno! Undaunted by these foes, Namor pressed on, fighting the forces of fascism either alone or alongside the Invaders for the duration of World War II!
