Masque surveys the situation that has gone rapidly downhill like so many snowballs and comes to a conclusion. Since nobody seems to be paying any attention to him, except for maybe Ari, he quietly starts walking around the room, whistling.

If anybody looks at him, they notice his Mask, ala phantom of the opera, is glowing a deep blue color.

Still whistling he stops at the door and looks to see what happens next.

(Now for those of you who want this to end or want a solution other than a fight, don't roll a resistance check. Otherwise it is a charm effect and everyone will feel a bit less edgy and more inclined to listen to the mage.
Imagine that, he may be a bit crazy but he ain't insane. This meaning that y'all will forget for a moment what is happening and happen to want to listen to the mage's every word.

I have rolled a 69 on remarkable and spent 22 in karma to achieve the desired effect, so if you do roll to resist, roll against a red feat.

Thank you and see you on the other side.)

Rebound turns to face his newfound, enigmatic companion, and perhaps friend. For the first time, he truly observes the man (?) who calls himself Magus and begins to wonder how his world got so strange so quickly.

"Magus, I appreciate your back-up down there. I would gladly speak with you more. What's on your mind?"

<OOC: Yes Magus is a man. Elven in appearance except for his size. Standing near if not above 7 feet with a heavy bronze tone to his skin, reptilian
slitted eyes that have a decidedly elfish appearance as well in that they are very large and almond shape. His musculature makes it seem that he most assuredly stronger than most yet has a lithe nature to it that makes one think that he could also prove to be a difficult opponent to strike. Long black hair with two long braids hanging down from each temple. Overall, if you've got in mind a good picture of an Elven warrior coupled with bronze dragon then you've got Magus. He's a half-dragon/half-elf. Course that's probably more than ya needed but hey.....I'm a giver.>

> "Magus, I appreciate your back-up down there. I would gladly speak
> with you more. What's on your mind?"

Magus nods slightly at the comments and speaks in a calm, relaxed tone, "Think nothing of it, Rebound. That is exactly why I followed your path here. You did make the effort to at least extend a personal greeting and invitation to me and I thank thee for it. As such I show my gratitude by telling you that I will not be staying here this eve or any other for the forseeable future. I know not where I will lay this night but it will not be in the midst of such a creature as that one below." His eyes glance downward at the roof beneath leather booted feet as he continues, "I therefore must bid farewell to you. If you would be so kind as to convey to our host, Och I believe was his name, my gratefulness and also my apologies for the scene I was a part of just now I will be in your debt."

As he finishes the tall figure begins to turn back towards the way he came before hesitating. With a step back towards you the man extends his clawed hand towards you, "Fare thee well, masked one."

Rebound takes the clawed hand in his own, hoping it doesn't get stuck there.

"If it is between you and that overgrown weed-wacker, I would take you any day. You strike me as a man very much in touch with his honor. The group below is not a formal alliance of any sort. I fell in with them simply because we shared a common goal at one point. You see, this world was in mortal danger of being all but destroyed. A common goal like that will bring the funkiest of groups together. We haven't been together long, in fact, most of the group know almost nothing about each other. As such, I have no true loyalty to the group. Perhaps, your stay in this world would be more manageable if you were not to travel alone?"

Magus' hand grips the man's wrist and shakes it firmly before letting
loose.

"It is perhaps because of that being below that I leave now but in truth I had not the intention of truly staying here long even if not for his uncouth manners and over odious essence. I seek a way to return to my own world and as such this place represents an unexpected and rather unwanted detour in that journey. I can not ask you to accompany or aid me though."

He pauses for a moment and actually smiles, "But if you were to set out upon the same road as myself travelling together would always be safer than separate."

After all of the crap being said to him, A.S.9 said " Listen you bunch of wanna be, spandex wearing heroes, You can act like big turds around here, but when It comes to getting things done right in the real world, I get it done right." and with that he walks out to the Hallway and takes his eyebeams and burns in on the wall "Losers Wanted, apply within!" and if anyone comes after him, he will breath fire on the person or persons. Roll 87 + all his remaining karma. A.S.9 leaves never to be seen again.

OCC: I just want to let you guys know that you need to grow up and need to calm down the attitude. I appreciate Firebomb for allowing me to play for as long as he did. As he said to me," I have not changed the way I play at all, since I began." I think some of you, not all, just want more attention for your guy since mine is so abrasive towards all your goody two shoe guys. Firebomb is good to still let you jerks play and since I am only one man I will take the fall for you're being a jerk. I feel sorry for any other new guys that come in that may rub you the wrong way, they will get probably rubbed out too. That's it. I am out of here. Hoodman Out.

After your little line, there, Stone Cold, Tammy just looks at you and
grins. "Geez, am I really that bad, Stoney? And here I thought I was
'only' having a horrid week..." She sits and waits for a response,
keeping an eye on the television as she does so.

Almost looks like she's blushing...

Meanwhile, Jinx, you get ahold of your superiors, who want to know just
what the heck happened to cause you to apparently blip out of existence
the last time you entered the D.A.A. base. 'Course, they can wait,
'cause they hear the surly exhaustion in your voice.

Though they want a full report tomorrow.

After you make your statements to the group, Tammy smiles at you. "Sure
thing, lady. We'll either be here or at A-Lonse's old base, checking
out what it's got in better detail - and making sure there's no more
Morbis clones and stuff there, eh?"

Barring a response, you leave Och's penthouse, and make your way down
the elevator. The thing seems to be taking its sweet time, but you're
not in too much of a hurry... you're just on your way to a posh hotel,
after all, and hopefully an in-room hot tub...

You exit the apartment complex and wait for a cab, which takes you
almost ten minutes for some insane reason. Nonetheless, you get in and
get a ride to (insert hotel here), and once you use the 'magic card' to
get yourself a room on the top floor, you go settle in.

Shortly thereafter, all heck breaks loose in Och's apartment, per the oh
so fun inter-character conflict that we need not bother to mention just
yet... As Masque performs his magic hat trick, you can hear Tammy cry
out gleefully "Oooooooh... pretty...!"

Before the charm can have the desired effect, though, AS9 checked out of
Och's penthouse, though not before defacing the hallway outside. This
brou-hah-hah draws your host forth, of course, and seeing the smoke
issuing forth from the wall outside, he starts to twitch.

Well, a minor twitch, at any rate. It's only his left eye. And it's
almost invisible, really. Unless, of course, you KNOW Och. And we
definitely won't talk about that vein that's throbbing on his forehead,
no. That would be bad form.

And anybody at all wishing to use good etiquette would absolutely,
postively, beyond any shadow of a doubt, not mention the death grip he's
got on his magical, golden axe right about now. Especially since you
can see the actual tension in his finger muscles. It's creepy.

Though it looks like Och had something to say, he simply sighs and goes
back into his room, knowing that the problem has resolved itself, and
that the maintenanec people can likely fix whatever damage was done
tomorrow. Even if he's not too happy about the whole mess.

Meanwhile, up on the roof of the building, the two of you are trying
real hard to relax and not kill people, Rebound, Magus. You get to
talking and all that, but before any final goodbyes can be said, you
hear a distant rumbling on the ground, below.

Looking down, you can see AS9 revving up his stolen ride, and taking off
into the sunset. Well, it's already very dark, but you get the idea.
He looks as though he's still intact, so you almost get the notion that
he decided to do the right thing and simply leave before things got
ugly.

Before you can even laugh that one off, however, you see the streak of
fiery light.

                                    ***

Enjoying the extravagance, since the Direct Action Americans seem to
only get you set up in Motel 8's and such, you walk out on the balcony
on the 25th floor, Jinx, and look down on the city. Well, you usually
look down on the city, of course, but this is in a more literal sense.

Watching people mill about their late night business, you see what would
appear to be that AS9 character, zipping in front of your hotel building
on his purloined Warriors of Thor chariot. You're pretty far up, but
you can see the twitching, barely contained rage in his robotic eyes.

He seems to be cursing up a blue streak when he hits a red light several
blocks down the road. He stops suddenly, though, when he sees the big
ball of fire in his rear view mirror. Seeing the reflective glint, you
look up and see it too - a giant ball of steaming, fiery ice!

Falling from the sky at a 45 degree angle, it nails the man like a
lethal snowball from God, though he manages an "Oh, fuc-" before the
sheer impact of the thing atomizes his robotic frame in a flash of
steam, shattering ice, and about 1.5 blocks worth of broken office
building windows.

You try to suppress a giggle, but you fail. A lot.

(ooc: as you can tell, things have gotten a little too ugly, and a
little too personal for my taste here, so I went ahead and dealt with
the problem ... I usually prefer to let players deal with their
inter-character issues themselves, but that didn't seem plausible in
this case.)

(As such, I have removed Randy and his lovable character from the game,
as he didn't manage to 'get better' as I've hoped. I do apologize for
not stepping in sooner to deal with this, but I didn't think I would be
needed to... silly me.)

(However, for those of you that haven't quit in disgust - well, nobody
has yet, as far as aie know - perhaps we should fast forward to the next
day in game, and pick up the action from there. Let us just call it
morning upon the next post, and try'n pick up the pieces from there,
eh?)

(Incidentally, I s'pose there's the matter of Karma.)

(Since I've basically been putting all of you through the wringer of
late, go ahead and add 1,000 Karma to your existing totals... each of
you has been involved in some sort of world-endangering, plane-spanning,
or just godawful nasty plot or another for some time, now, so that
sounds right.)

(I'm rounding up a bit in each case, sure, but so what, eh?)

Magus looks at the destruction surrounding the impact area that coincided
exactly with the location of what he considered to be a malfunctioning golem
at best with an expression of high interest displayed prominently upon his
face. "Hmm," he replies to Rebound in a low, questioning (and utterly
non-threatening) growl, "Did I do that? Well not that I am consciously aware
of although I was pondering a fate quite similar to that which laid low that
nuisance..." He seems to actually consider the possible that somehow his own
desires influenced the event, *Impossible...even on my world my magicks
would make such a feat one that I would need to focus on accomplishing...*
His gaze returns to the devastation and follows the path that the orb of
destruction seemed to have taken from the heavens above, *An elder
perhaps...here?*

Rebound studies the destruction left by the firebrand from space, shakes his
head and continues.

"It's as if someone simply removed our problem for us. Then again, you seem
to have a bigger problem on your hands - getting home. I understand if you
still want to venture away from this group to find your way, but there is
most likely someone in the group who may know how to get you home. It
wouldn't hurt to ask. Masque perhaps."

Rebound pauses trying to find the best way to ask this. Formulating several
different methods and discarding them all.

"Ahh, screw tact! What is so pressing about getting home anyway?"

Rebound stares at the smoking crater and remembers back to that first day in
the jungle with the trees shattering and the underbrush exploding. He
suppresses a shudder and returns his attention to Magus with just a hint of
longing for home lingering in his mind.

Tammy looks at you, Stone Cold, and smiles somewhat. "Well, slow's
good. Especially right now... I haven't had a moment's peace since I met
you, Stoney. And besides, I'd rather not think about it just yet,
'cause I'm about to hit the hay, hey?"

The lot of you then reunite in Och's apartment after the bizarre
celestial event that seems to have vanquished your 'pal' A.S.9, as if
confused about the strange act of Fate. Regardless, unless anybody else
has anything poignant or pertinent to say, let us just fast forward to
the next morn.

Those of you that didn't get to sleep under the influence of Och's odd
dwarven brews wake up to the sound of workmen just outside the door; the
maintenance people here are good, it would seem, as they're already in
the process of removing the graffiti deposited on the wall last night.

'Course, this penthouse looks expensive enough to warrant it, when you
get down to it. You see Och gathering together his adventuring gear in
the living room, having already groomed himself in his personal rest
room, one adjacent to his master suite, and watching the television.

The news has interesting things to say about what happened last night.
Though several of you did in fact witness something falling out of the
stellar depths last night, the news seems to be saying that it was a
mere helicopter crash that hit the street in the night.

One or two eyewitnesses seem to corroborate the story, and even provide
a description of the person the helicopter landed on. The police sketch
artist produces a drawing similar to your android 'friend' from last
night, and note this to be the third sighting of the guy in two weeks.

Presumably, however, this one would be the LAST. At any rate, they go
on to say that the pilot of said craft was also killed, and that the
only survivor of the crash seemed to be an as of yet unidentified man,
about six foot four, blonde, and having an odd mark on his right hand.

He was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for his severe
burns and whatnot, and the cleanup of the mess was proceeding apace. As
you all wake up and catch bits and pieces of this news (some of you
slightly more hung over than the others), you see Och also grab
something out of a safe.

When someone looks in on his activities, he simply states "We may need
some sort of leverage in order to acquire the use of that facility left
by Morbis after our little band defeated him. I have no clue as of yet
who owns the building in question, but they may not like us being
there..."

Seems like he's got a whole lot of paperwork and such handy.

it... blueberries. And chocolate chips... and Bisquick.
That can only mean one thing... PANCAKES.

Singing merrily, Masque comes out of the Kitchen with a plate heaped with
pancakes and sets them on the table.

Stating with one of those irritating morning people voices;
"Good Morning Friends!"

Distracted by the sketch of the robot, Masque trips and the plate of
pancakes goes flying through the air.
"Oh Drat!"

And before any of you can blink a Mist surrounds Masque and disappears and
the mist reappears at the trajectory of the pancakes and he steps out of the
said Mist and catches the pancakes, one would imagine that nothing will come
between a mage and his pancakes.
"Was that the toaster on TV?"

> (snip)

With a mouthful of pancakes masque manages to spit out;
"Are we goin' somewhere? I can get us there with out the need for that silly

In response to your last statement, Tammy simply shrugs. "Well hey,
slugger, I'd rather talk about this later... like I said, I'm tired, and

slow is good. We'll see what happens when it happens, okay?"

(current morning)

Whilst Masque cooks up some breakfast for the lot of all y'all, Jinx
makes her return to Och's penthouse apartment, and she's greeted by two
travelers at the door. Thaddeus and Gloria are all packed up and ready
to leave, and they open the door for the woman.

"Come on in, we're leaving... should make room for you, hey?" That was
Thaddeus, motioning you in as he and his traveling partner make their
way out of Och's and head towards... parts unknown. Before they go,
however, Gloria comes up to you with a question, Masque.

"Masque... would it be possible for you to give me that seeker stones
the Fraternity of Order gave you? That way, when we're ready to leave
this world, we have directions, at least?" She looks at you in that
strange, beautiful Aasimar way, eyes all sparkly and glowing... and
smiles.

Hits you where it counts, that look does.

Meanwhile, Och looks at you as you enter, Jinx, and smiles. "Well, some
of the others seem to be asleep still, but basically, this is us.
Masque is cooking up some breakfast, as I'm sure you can smell. Feel

The dwarf continues to collect his adventuring paraphernalia as Slow Jim
emerges from the main bath room. "Ah... haven't slept this good in
ages. It's so nice to sleep submerged again. I can't wait to sample
this world's oceans. They can't possibly be as bad as my own..."

As you make your singular observation about the impactee described on

Mr. Connell, so he would know better than us."

After everybody who wants to eat eats, Och gathers the rest of his
goods, and then starts to write a note. Taping it on the inside of
the door, he reads it one more time before opening it and walking
out. It says "If you're still asleep, we'll be at Morbis' old
place. Join us when you can - Och".

He just looks at those of you present and shrugs. "Well, it looks
like some of us are still sleeping, so this'll at least let 'em know
where we went, eh?" Och then heads out, leaving it up to all y'all
to follow. Including, of course, Thaddeus and Gloria, who are still
waiting to see if Masque is feeling charitable... (hint hint)

Heading there on foot, since the place is only about a mile away from
his penthouse apartment, Och returns to the spot in Manhattan where
the villainous Morbis once lived, passing the wreckage left in the
wake of all y'all's fight with his cloned bodies on his way.

Entering the building's parking garage, Och goes down into its lower
depths, and studies the wall where the hidden doorway into the
subterranean complex lies. Seeing the small, smoking hole in the
wall, the dwarf finds easily enough where the trigger mechanism is,
and he pushes the button.

Note: those of you who are at least minimally paranoid would find
the fact that the secret switch to open the secret door was, in fact,
not secret anymore odd - and the fact that it is issuing forth smoke
would tell those self-same paranoid folks that hey, whoever exposed
the trigger, he was here RECENTLY.

Anyhow, when the man pushes the button, the prefab concrete slab
before you slides into the earth, revealing a large steel door, one
with a one foot by one foot glass window embedded within. It is
intact, but it has been sprayed with what looks like motor oil - on
the inside.

Och just looks at the door and says "Hm." He tries the handle, but
it would appear to be locked. "Most interesting... when I left this
place last night, I left it unlocked, and triggered the secret
door..." With that, he pulls out his golden axe, and waits to see if
anyone else offers him an opinion.

Crimebuster, having joined Och, is more than a little suspicious. He
warily draws out Achira Ryushutsu and tells the dwarf "I have a bad feeling about this. Someone on the other side is waiting for us. " He asks Och to hold up and looks at Rebound (assuming Rebound is with them). He says
"Maybe you should do the knocking? Make sure you knock loudly. I want them
to hear you the first time....." His intonation leaves very little room for
doubt. He is reasonably sure that there is a trap waiting and wants the
door blown off it's hinges for a shot at momentary surprise.

Rebound shrugs at Crimbuster's suggestion. "You want the door opened, I'll
open it." He pauses a few moments for dissenting opinions before proceeding.

(Presumed interruption period)

If there are no serious objections, Rebound will carefully string the
doorframe with his own special stuff, letting it eat away at the structure
of the door for a little before asking everyone to step back.

Checking over his shoulder to make sure that the others have gotten out of
the way..."Back blast area all clear!" Rebound will detonate the mass hoping that the doorframe is weakened enough so that the whole door blows in.

Jinx, being on untra-paranoid watch, keeps on an eye on all of their backs during their descent into the base. She has no real arguments with blowing down the door if the ceiling looks stable, and makes sure to give Rebound plenty of clearance while plugging her ears so she doesn't go deaf from the blast.

Once the door goes boom, she'll draw her guns and take aim at the area beyond the door frame.

Och looks at you, Ari, and shrugs. "Well, I was going to, but it would
appear that Crimebuster and Rebound have a better idea..." With that,
Och steps back as Rebound gels up the door frame, and cringes when he
blows the thing to itty bitty pieces.

The frame, not the door, that is, because when he does detonate his
sticky goo, the door just sort of... falls back towards you all. Quite
a secure frame, that. Of course, now that you've done that, you can see
a couple folks on the other side of the doorway, and they don't look nice.

There's three of 'em, all of which have the same uniform. It's basically a blue suit, with black gloves, black boots, and black straps to hold one's equipment all over the place... along with a blue helmet, red masks covering their lower faces, and a red snake-ish symbol on the chest.

Save for the guy directly in front of you - his symbol's silver in hue.
As soon as he recovers from the boom, he grabs his walkie-talkie and
starts shouting. "Boss, we got some more of these techie goons up here
at the top door. Am liquidating now..."

With that, the man brandishes his AK-47 at you, and so do his two fellows, who seem to have the lot of you in the middle of an enfilade. It's hard to tell under his mask, but the center one seems to be smiling. Over his headset, as he prepares to fire you can hear his 'boss' talking.

He's got a deep, rumbling voice, with a hint of Scottish in it.
"Excellent... we're having enough trouble with these high tech madmen
down here. Of course, they are about to yield... these scientists
aren't used to using their toys in extended combat... proceed."

Looks like the trio of... whoever they are... are about to fire on the
lot of you. What do you do? (oh, and by the by, haven't heard from a
lot of you in quite a bit... if you're still here, now'd be a good time
to sound off... and say what'cha want to do here).

(After all, thes guys got big guns...)

(oh, and for reference, Ari, you went to pull out a big gun - and you do. The thing is basically what you might call a 'chain gun', being a full 150 pounds heavy. It's got 'meat tenderizer' inscribed on it, and has a fully loaded ammo belt. The trick is just picking up the goofy thing...)

Anyways, for those of you that may've missed a post or so, what's going
on is that, come morning, Och set out for Morbis' old headquarters, in
order to see into staking a legitimate claim to the place. After all,
it's a keen subterranean complex with access to the surface world.

And nobody seemed to know about it, after all. Well, with the exception
of the people that seem to have moved into it now.

I've been going under the assumption that everybody who didn't protest
the moving of the action from point a (Och's luxurious, pancake-filled
penthouse) to point b (the bottom level of the parking garage where
Morbis' base is accessed in a non-sewer way) tagged along.

So far, everybody but two of all y'all has responded in kind, though
it's only been a day so far (ignore the date on my previous message, it
was off by one on my machine). Just waiting to hear from Ronin and
Magus to see if'n they have anything to offer to the sudden violence
before thee.

No rush or anything, but that's where we sit. Currently, the five other
posters are there, as well as yourself (if that's where you wanna be),

The three men fire on the lot of you, but don't manage to score any hits
in edgewise, as the lot of you jump on them mercilessly. Before the
goons before you have fired their third shot with their AK-47s, you've
flung your shuriken at them, Crimebuster.

You nailed all three of 'em, but one star bounced off the helmet of the
guy in the middle. Just then, you see Rebound leaping into the air as
Stone Cold glazes the ground inside the secret compound's entrance with
ice. Stone Cold then charges, running past Rebound as he slams a goon.

As you pull yourself out of the hole in the wall you just pushed that
blue-clad guy into, Stone Cold, you feel the brunt of Rebound's landing,
subsequent hits from bullets, and then watch as the hits from the many
bullets still striking him topple him over.

The ice, of course, reducing his ability to stay upright in the face of that assault. He falls over backwards, and then bounces into the ceiling. And then the ground. And then down the stairs in a curiously off-balance ballistic arc. He at least takes the silver-logo'd goon with him.

As you pinball and deflect from surface to surface down the stairwell,
Rebound, you see that you body checked the leader of this trio on your
way there, and caused him to fall down the stairs hard - and he lacks
the explosive 'benefit' of your powers.

"Sheeeeaaaaaagh!!", he says as he comes to a rest three stories down.
When you finally control your concussive descent down the stairs, and
regain your balance, you see that there's some sort of firefight going
on down here in Morbis' old headquarters.

There's a bunch more of these guys in blue suits, most of which have the
red 'snake' logo, while two others have the silver one. They seem to be
being led by a man in a black leather outfit, one with a big red collar,
and oddly, a chromed steel face mask. He looks pissed.

His group is fighting a bunch of guys in white lab coats, all of which
seem to be carrying irregular, curious weaponry that seems to be
somewhat familiar; you could swear you'd seen a similar design style,
though you can't quite put your finger on where.

Their weaponry seems to be much more advanced than the guys in blue's,
who are using AK-47s and Dragunov sniper rifles. However, they are much
more numerous, and seem to be pressing their advantage against what
looks like a band of mad scientists.

Meanwhile, upstairs, you've wrapped up the remaining fellow in your
bands, Masque, and that - combined with Crimebuster's stun stars - has
dealt with him handily. The last one didn't really need to be wrapped
up, since he looks somewhat broken, having been charged by a big granite
guy.

As Jinx marvels over the raw quality put into the construction of this
door frame, as her shots bounced harmlessly off of it - and onto Rebound
- you finally get your meat tenderizer propped up and ready to fire,
Ari. Of course, it seems like everything here is finished. At least
for now.

You all seem to have taken control of the entrance to this compound, now
the question is where you go from here. Especially Rebound, since he's
now in the real thick of it...

When you arrive at the bottom of the stairs, Rebound, and make your
comment, everybody in the room does, indeed, stop. The guys in blue
tense, waiting for the guy in the chrome dome to give 'em the word,
while the lab coat wearing 'mad geniuses' scowl.

"Your basement? Balderdash, this is OUR basement, you secretious
biped!", one of them says. Before any of THEM can make a hostile move,
however, Crimebuster comes flipping over you like some sort of gymnast,
and takes a swipe at the guy with the metal mask.

Since things did indeed get hostile, you throw your bizness at the man,
and detonate two blobs of sticky strand on his legs as planned. He
falls down, screaming in a rather deep, heavy voice. "Fools!
Interloping fools! We only seek to retrieve what these men stole from
us!"

His men aren't in quite an explanatory mood, however, and after seeing
the two of you knock the boss down, they shoot at you. All twelve of
'em. Naturally, the bullets just bounce off of you explosively,
Rebound, though their combined force sort of shoves you a good thirty
feet sideways.

Unfortunately for you, Crimebuster, you're not quite so bullet
resistant, and even though you leapfrog like a madman in an attempt to
avoid being perforated, you fail somewhat, getting tagged by a couple
shots, and suffering Excellent (20) Shooting damage before your armor.

(I seem to have misplaced your character sheet, so I'm not sure if that
bothers you all that much... ergh)

Before these guys can do any serious damage, however, the rest of you
make your way down the stairs, and see your two allies getting shot full
of holes - well, at least one of 'em. This sets off Och, at the very
least, who charges at the nearest thug in blue with his axe in hand.

You can see the fear in his eyes as Och bears down on the goon. He
opens fire on the dwarf, but he's so scared that he can't shoot
straight, and sprays bullets all around Och as Och takes a swipe at the
man, taking his gun hand clean off... though as you look, you see Och
has been hit a bit.

He's bleeding here and there, and it only seems to have made him
angrier. However, the rest of you see the two groups of fighting
oddballs here in the basement, now, so the question is what the lot of
you intend to do about them... hmm?

(oh, and Stone Cold, there's no natural stone of any sort hereabouts...
it's all concrete and technological wreckage strewn about).

Assuming that the strands Rebound shot do not keep the boss down, Crimebuster will engage in combat with him. Using only the flat of the blade (still powered by his Chi), he is fighting to subdue and damage rather than kill. Seething with anger, Ari, you whip out your Lego device and pelt
Och's attacker with a bunch of strangely smiling Lego pirate men, all

of which are armed with tiny Lego swords that look rather sharp - as
best as you can see, what with them flying so fast.

He falls back even as Jinx punches a hole in the shoulder of another
man in blue with her mag cannon, knocking him unconscious, and as
Rebound explosively pummels yet another into submission, thrusting
him into the mass of his fellow thugs. But that's not all.

As Stone Cold pile drives a bunch of the goons, you see Crimebuster
pound the chrome-masked leader of this group with his glowing blade,
staggering him to the ground. However, while the man is down, he's
most definitely not out. "Pfah!", he says.

"If you interloping fools will not allow me to retake possession of
technology which is legally mine, I have no other recourse than to
destroy it!" With that, the man fires two projectiles from a small
launcher on his wrist, striking a lump of junk in the corner.

After that, he stands up and makes for the sewer entrance to the
compound. "Cobra - retreat!!" With that, the goons collect their
fallen while two of the guys with the silver snake emblems on their
chest lay heavy cover fire with two tripod-mounted M-60's.

Once they withdraw (which only takes seconds, giving one the
impression that they're good at fleeing), they slam shut the round
metal door that leads to the sewers beyond, and that seems to be
that. Unless one wants to pursue, the fight seems over already.

As Masque and Magus make their way down the stairs at last, the
various scientists before you come out from their cover, brush
themselves off, and insert their bizarre, high tech weapons into all
manner of pockets and such within their ubiquitous lab coats.

"Thank you, thank you! We weren't sure we could deal with those
thugs ourselves, despite our superior firepower. Again, on behalf of
the Electronicists League, thank you!" A few of them, not quite so
happy about this turn of events, inspect what the villain shot.

"That bastard Destro... he just had to have the last laugh. We could
have used this thing for all kinds of good purposes... but no. He
just has to hoard the technology for himself...!" Looking at the
rubble, you see that this 'Destro' blasted the 'Weather Dominator'.*

Once they recover from the shock of the battle, the assembled techies
suddenly seem to realize that you're there - even if one or two of
them were throwing platitudes at you moments ago. "Hey, who are you
guys, anyway, and how did you find this place?"

* Those of you that've been with us for quite a while may remember,
as you did battle with Morbis (not his clone-monster thingie, mind,
but the actual techno-sorcerer), you saw the remnants of A-Lonse's
Weather Dominator - which, as it turns out, was STOLEN.

Don't you just love that guy?

Of course, you also saw it when you did wind up fighting the clone-
monster thingie while checking this place out. I love it when things
come together...

Crimebuster looks at Rebound and shakes his head. A slight chuckle escapes from him as he looks at his slightly overzealous friend. He turns to the scientists and says: "Try not to let him get to you. You can call me Crimebuster. My friend is Rebound. We had been looking into the basement of this building after following and defeating a clone-construct of sorts.....who are you and
who was that you were fighting?

You step lively behind the retreating goons in blue and their chrome
domed leader, Jinx, and make your way to the sewer access with
haste. Checking the thing out, you see no noticeable tripwires or
explosive devices, so everything seems copacetic in that regard.

However, when you reach for the door knob, your danger sense gets all
ruffled, so you get the impression that there's something ugly
waiting on the other side for whoever decides to open this door.
Makes you want to back off all slow and careful-like...

Meanwhile, the rest of you continue to question and/or browbeat the
would-be mad scientists that you've just met, and get the impression
that they don't like it. Their apparent leader looks at you, Stone
Cold, and says "No, this place is most assuredly not vacant."

"After all," he says as he glares at Rebound, "We own this building.
Our name's on the paperwork and everything." With that, he pulls out
a copy of the deed (!), and presents it to you all. "We just
discovered this secret bolt hole here last night..."

"Your battle with that... thing outside revealed the presence of this
secret bunker here. It's amazing what one can do with enough
nano-bots, hmm? We wouldn't have known somebody had hollowed this
space out of our foundation otherwise."

"Now, we just need to figure out what to do with it..." The man then
stops talking to you and starts inspecting the remains of various
items the lot of you have left as heaping piles of wreckage in your
many visits to this secret hidey hole.

Another techie then steps up to answer your questions,
Crimebuster. "Like the man said, we're members of the Electronicists
League. We make high tech toys to better society, in one way or the
other. Eventually. Usually our stuff is meant to help out, anyway."

You could swear you heard Masque 'eep' somewhere upon hearing that.

"Those goons work for a terrorist group called Cobra, who say that
weather controlling device there was theirs, and that we stole it -
but we didn't leave it here... we just found out that it was being
used to alter global weather patterns, and wanted to study it."

"So, what were you doing here today? We figured you were done with
our place once that... thing you killed was dealt with."

Either Masque is constipated or he has an idea. Either way his face is all twisted up.

We seem to be a ragtag group of would-be hero's who seem to be residing in an apartment. And frankly, the kitchen ain't big enough to support all the pancakes I have to make for this motley crew. As for me..." Masque surveys all the... technology... around him and gets a disgusted look, "I will have to make amends and stay somewhere else until all this nonsense is cleaned up. If anyone needs me they can send me a pigeon or two."

Seemingly done with his babble he walks towards the door, then hops back.

"Silly me, i went all tangent-like again. What would you require of us if
we wished to use this place? If you wished to part with it at all?"

> You could swear you heard Masque 'eep' somewhere upon hearing that.

"Eep!" With that Masque runs to catch up with Magus and likely babble about

Noticing her danger sense "tingling," Jinx would block the path of anyone attempting to leave stating that going through the door might prove unhealthy due to something nasty on the other side.

Once Masque had freed himself from his conversation, she'd ask him, "Hey, man, can you do one of your portal things and check out what's behind this door besides our exit? I've got a hunch that we may have someone or something waiting for us on the other side."

Striding silently through the upper floor Magus seems to not particularly care about the matters occurring below him at this moment. As his quiet footfalls faintly echo through the chamber he crosses through the rather devastated doorway well aware of the approaching mage of somewhat befuddled mental states scampering up behind him. Even though he does nothing to belie his knowledge of the impending conversation that is about to be initiated the very air about him seems to both expand with a touch of eagerness while at the same time defensively tensing for some rather inconsequential pancake comment.

The assembled group of 'mad' scientists listen to you speak, Masque, and then huddle to discuss their options. After you ask what would be involved in getting to use the facility, the guys turn to talk at you, but find that you've already become distracted, and left the immediate area.

Seeing that, they just talk to those of your fellows that are still here. "Well... I'm sure if you wanted to use the facilities, we could work something out. Being that you're... heroes... and all, I'm sure money isn't a feasible option."

"Of course, being host to a team of actual super heroes could do wonders for the Electronicist's League... we could take care of all your high technology needs, in exchange for publicity stunts or some such, I'm sure... though I'd say the mere prestige of it all could be enough."

"Or we could have you test out new gizmos now and then, say, in field conditions... that could be enough, I suppose... I'd have to discuss that with our superiors, to be sure. However, we could give you the full use of this area, as well as the roof hangar, should you need it."

Walking over to a pile of wreckage, the apparent lead techie looks at a
beam of light that is coming from a hole in the wall, one that appears
to have the remnants of a rocket crammed into it; this seems all to
familiar to some of you.

"Hm... looks like someone made an access shaft all the way to the roof..." He puts his hand in the shaft of sunlight, and laughs. "Hm... making an elevator to the roof-top hangar should be easier than I thought... I wonder how this fellow built all this without our knowledge..."

Meanwhile, as the techies talk shop and rental options, you go astral and check out what's on the other side of that sewer access hatch, Masque. Slipping through the door in your astral form, you see that fellow with the chrome dome setting one of several blinky devices up on the hatch.

"Mu hu hah hah hah! Let them pursue us now, the fools! Hah!" One of his fellows, a guy in a blue uniform and a silver snake sigil on his chest, then says "Destro, that should be enough charges... let us get out of here before they blast through! Who knows what these guys can do...!"

"Hmph... very well..." The apparent Destro then sets yet another booby trap in the darkness of the sewer tunnel itself, and joins his fellows in retreat. You get the impression, Masque, that all the blinky light-ed devices, and all those tripwires connected to them, are bad, bad things.

Not that you're an electronic expert, but even you can guess you're floating in bomb city...

you can just make those bombs fizzle out. If not, well...we'll have to

Masque then opens the pathway to the spot that Destro was standing when he was setting up the traps and throws up his Eldritch shield just in case and eyeballs the blinky devices.

"Well here goes nothing."

Well, you traverse the space between this side of the door and the other via your Hoggoth-y entreaty, Masque, and indeed find yourself in the midst of a very, very large array of explosive devices. Working that wacky magic that you do, you manage to dispose of the things, though.

It was kind of tricky, getting rid of so many at once, but hey, you're that good, right?

Meanwhile, back inside the former secret headquarters of Morbis - and possible future headquarters of yourselves - your would-be hosts note your reactions to their offer. "Hm... well, it would seem that publicity is not on the table, which is probably for the best, I would suppose."

Their leader then pauses to digest the rest of your comments, and then continues, running his fingers through his exceptionally tall flat top as he does so. "Yes, friend, we must confer with our bosses before we complete this arrangement." That was to Crimebuster.

"And no, we don't necessarily do requests." That was to Stone Cold. "However, in an emergency, I suppose that something could be done, if we had the resources and such available to assist you. After all, I'm sure it'll fall to us to make this facility useful to the lot of you, hmm?"

With that, the man waits for any more odd questions or comments, and then announces that he has to make a phone call to his Electronicists League superiors before he can say whether or not the deal is good. He walks out to go collect his mobile telephone, leaving you all here to stew.

Meanwhile, you've made it upstairs, Magus, and are enjoying a relatively fresh breath of air - air at least not tainted by the odors of combat - and find that the three goons you all left up here have since been removed from the top of the stair well.

That's no big thing, of course, as you assumed they fled when the others did - assuming that they had recovered from their savage beating quickly enough to do so. However, you hear something skittering around in the parking garage, something small and... dangerous.

Looking about, you see a small lizard, looking something like a gecko, dragging a hand about. It's not an ordinary hand, however, in that it seems to be hard-wired to a whole lot of circuitry and metal plating. It was recently resting beneath a parked car.

"I've found it, boss!", the little thing shouts out in the air, to no one in particular - at least, no one that you can see. About six seconds later, you hear a loud, booming voice that causes you to cover your ears - until you realize that the voice is striking your mind directly.

"Excellent, my fine servant. Bring it to me, so I may study this errant sorcery before you. We wouldn't want this dangerous magic to fall into the wrong hands - those being any hands other than myself... hah hah hah hah hah!" You don't like that, Magus.

The two of you stop to watch the oversized gecko work at dragging the dismembered hand around, occasionally stopping to hit it with a stick. "I said stop squirming, you!" The lizard hits it a couple more times, and it apparently stops moving - for the lizard stops beating on it.

Not that you saw it moving to begin with. However, it then continues to drag the hand towards the street level of the parking garage, moving along the wall so it can effectively hide from anybody that might happen to walk (or drive) this direction.

It's crafty little beast, though, for it is paying attention to what's going on around it. It looks around, as if spying for trouble, and spots the two of you mere moments after it begins its visual sweep. "Eep!" The lizard then drops its stick, grabs the hand with both hands, and flees.

Its feet make quiet little flip flop sounds as it speeds off towards the parking garage entrance, a fast little pitter patter of reptilian panic as it races for freedom, expecting the two of you to steal its prize away from it. "Eep eep eep!", it says as it runs.

The two of you stop to watch the oversized gecko work at dragging the
dismembered hand around, occasionally stopping to hit it with a stick.
"I said stop squirming, you!" The lizard hits it a couple more times,
and it apparently stops moving - for the lizard stops beating on it.

Not that you saw it moving to begin with. However, it then continues to
drag the hand towards the street level of the parking garage, moving
along the wall so it can effectively hide from anybody that might happen
to walk (or drive) this direction.

It's crafty little beast, though, for it is paying attention to what's
going on around it. It looks around, as if spying for trouble, and
spots the two of you mere moments after it begins its visual sweep.
"Eep!" The lizard then drops its stick, grabs the hand with both hands,
and flees.

Its feet make quiet little flip flop sounds as it speeds off towards the
parking garage entrance, a fast little pitter patter of reptilian panic
as it races for freedom, expecting the two of you to steal its prize
away from it. "Eep eep eep!", it says as it runs.

As the slitted, emerald eyes glance about the area Magus seems to oddly
enough not care whether the foes vanished or whatever as he continues his
leisurely, yet deliberate walk.

In midstep the tall frame of Magus stops abruptly and silently as his eyes
focus on the darkness of the garage in an attempt to locate the source of
the noise.

Standing perfectly still Magus watches the small creature with fascination.
Not only at the odd task it is working at but also because of it's very
nature in this strange place.

Pulling his head back in surprised curiousness Magus wonders what manner
of creature this world has exactly that such an animal speaks in their
native tongue before jerking his head back at the sudden explosion of the
disembodied voice in his head.

> "Excellent, my fine servant. Bring it to me, so I may study this errant

Magus brings a hand slowly to his lips and gestures for the eccentric mage
to be silent as he watches the reptile continue about at it's apparently
assigned task. His line of sight makes the lizard more than apparent as the
focus of his attention.

If not for the decidedly malevolent nature of the telepathic voice
commanding the lizard Magus might very well be amused at the lizard's method
of handling the task. As it is the draconic man from another land seems to
be focused on watching the creature for whatever it may be leading towards.

Magus stares at the lizard hoping to calm it before it can flee but it
would seem to be a lost cause as the lizard begins to charge away from the
two of them.

Wasting not a moment, Magus begins to sprint after the lizard speaking in a
calm yet totally indecipherable tongue consisting of hisses and clicks.
<Wait little one. We wish you no harm. Only to talk to you. Your prize is in
no danger.> As his run begins him closer to the gecko he continues to plea
in tha animalistic tongue aloud hoping that his words may safely end this

"What, What?!?" Masque makes for a hasty chase. After all anything that is
running FROM you has got to be up to something and has got to be better than
something running TOWARDS you.
Masque then regains his senses and calls forth his Demon Steed, Binky. He
hops on and resumes chase.

As Masque passes Magus he turns and gives him a thumbs up and a Smile.
"I got him....i'll just head him off at the pass.....or squish him in the
process...either way we win."

You charge ahead of Magus, Masque, and practically force Binky to spin
out on the sidewalk outside the parking garage as you pivot to face the
fleeing reptile. It stops, brandishing the severed, cybered hand at you
as though it were a powerful magical amulet.

You take it Binky's supposed to rear back and remove you from your seat.

That's when the lizard stops, and looks at you, Magus. Speaking in
animal speak, he (?) says, 'Where'd you dig up this cacophonous
cavalcade of color? K-Mart?!' As you and Masque close in on him,
however, and before you can even say anything, you hear it. Well, feel
it, really.

The two of you feel this low rumbling begin in your toes, dilly dally in
your lower intestine, and then race up your spine as it raises in pitch
to a shrill cry of rage. You hear glass breaking above, and looking in
that direction, you can see why the hair on the backs of your necks is
raised.

On top of the building across the street from this parking garage, you
spy a large, red-scaled reptile, about forty feet tall, and with twice
the wingspan. Yes, wingspan. While you're trying to make sense of the
bizarre, fearful site, it steps off its glass and steel perch.

And dives right towards you. The gecko looks back at you again, Magus,
and simply shrugs. And, in English, is says "You may only wish to talk,
pal, but I don't think she wants to..."

You wander away from the remnants of the group before you, Jinx, and
start to climb up the stairs when you hear voices. Though you pull your
guns and menace the space immediately around you with unbounded malice,
you find that there is no one in sight whatsoever.

Looking around, you eventually discover somebody's two way radio ... and
it's still on. The thing's pretty keen, really, being made from a deep
blue plastic, and having all sorts of functions built into it, from the
plethora of controls on the device.

It's also got a red snake sigil on it, similar to those that were on the
uniforms of those fellows you fought so recently in this secret
chamber. Even better than that, though, is the fact that the thing
seems to have survived the overwhelming rout y'all delivered unto these
thugs.

That, of course, is because this walkie is talking.

"You fool, Destro, I told you to simply bomb the place into oblivion to
begin with! This was a precious waste of resources and manpower that
could've been averted if only you listened to me in the first place.
How many purges must I conduct to get some competent lackeys around
here?!"

You hear a pregnant pause, Jinx, before Destro continues. "... yes,
Cobra Commander, you are correct..." and even you can hear the lack of
sincerity in the next word, Jinx "... again." "Of course I am!! Bring
my men back to the local safe house at once, and we'll talk about this
later..."

"When I join you at the Chrysler building, that is..."

You get the impression that the loss of this device has yet to be
accounted for, otherwise you wouldn't have caught that, Jinx. Of
course, the question is what to do with this choice tidbit of
information, yes? What do do, indeed...

As you throw up your magical shield, Masque, you hear Magus start
shouting something at the creature above, in a language that you THINK
you should understand, but don't. Within a half second of that, the
creature replies in like tongues, and you almost feel left out.

Of course, from the tone you hear blasted into your mind - yes, your
mind, not your ears - you get the feeling that you don't need a
translator. On the other hand, Magus, you clearly hear something akin
to 'It's not my name that is important to you, but what you want on your
tombstone!'

With that, the beast then opens its mouth wide, and breathes on you.
Both of you. A lot. So much so that you see nothing but the orange
glow of flame as the two of you are utterly ingulfed in the deadly
energies of the creature's lethal assault.

You suffer Monstrous (75) Energy damage, the both of you, which blasts
through your various defenses and leaves you rather unpleasantly
singed. Your resistance to magical attack blunts that some, Magus, but
it still hurts lots - your shifting invulnerability didn't help this
time.

Also, Masque, your eldritch shield managed to deflect 1 CS of the damage
inflicted upon it, so that leaves you a few health points to spare - if
barely. Good thing your Masque helps you to heal fast, otherwise that
might be a serious inconvenience...

At any rate, by the time your vision clears of the nuclear orange haze,
the beast is well on its way away... you can see it dart between two
buildings down the road some. Of course, you can see its oversized
gecko pal running after, hoping to avoid grisly death at your hands..

Hearing this Masque quickly turns towards the gecko and starts running
towards it, hand's doing their Magic.

"Hoggoth, if there was ever a time to pay attention to your earthly servant,
this is the time. I implore you to help me exact my vengeance now. Help me
capture this Dragon's little slave so my friend and I can learn more of this
Dragon. cause i sure ain;t going after the dragon right now. I ain't a
stupid Worshipper ya know."

And then a stream of Bands issue forth from Masque's fingertips and head
directly towards the gecko.

(rolling a 91 on Amazing and spending the recquisite 10 karma to achieve a
red result to wrap that little fucker from neck to toe, gotta talk to him)

When and if Masque Grabs hold of the Gecko, he will reel him in like a Fish
and then say:

"I hope you have room in your stomach for my fist, because I am going to RAM
IT DOWN YOUR THROAT!"

Masque's mask is glowing a very bright blue right now and he is shaking a lot.

He does however manage to holler to Magus.

The threatening phrase sounds vaguely similar to something Magus had
overheard playing on the odd scrying device in the dwarf's lodgings last
night but he shrugs it off just as he realizes the dragon's intended attack.

> You suffer Monstrous (75) Energy damage, the both of you, which blasts

Instinctively Magus' arms rise up to defend his eyes and face from the
flames as best as possible while they are both razed from above.

> "Mother Fucker!"
> Masque looks less than happy, he swore after all (he is just a softy ya

Hearing the expletive coming from his new found comrade Magus at least
takes comfort in the fact that he still lives after the attack. With such a
reassurance his eyes scan the sky for sight of the red dragon overhead.

> At any rate, by the time your vision clears of the nuclear orange haze,

Magus looks as if he would strike out at the flying monster if not for the
fact that it has already beat a fairly hasty retreat from them.

> "Meep! Boss, wait up! Wait for meeee!"
>
> Hearing this Masque quickly turns towards the gecko and starts running

Magus, much like Masque, hears the gecko's pleas which result only in the
two scorched warriors turning their attention to the inadequate helper of
their assailant.

> "I hope you have room in your stomach for my fist, because I am going to
RAM
> IT DOWN YOUR THROAT!"

Walking in a stiff, slow pace Magus speaks to the gecko over Masque's
shoulder, "I do believe he means it, little one. Best for you to cooperate
now I think."

> He does however manage to holler to Magus.
> "You alright buddy?"

"Perfect," Magus croaks out in a broken voice, "Simply perfect." Often
enough to be noticeable his eyes scan heavenwards for sign of the great
dragon's appearance.

The gecko screams as you invoke Hoggoth at it, Masque, and you note that
when you add that entity's name to your otherwise ordinary casting, it
causes the spell to behave... differently. Your bands seem much
thicker, and are glowing with an abnormal, eldritch light.

When they grapple the dragon's servant, they wrap him up completely,
save for his head. What's weird is that the bands seem to convene on
the gecko's person at a strange, powerful looking padlock, one that
bears Hoggoth's personal emblem. This gecko's going NOWHERE.

Once you reel him in, and you and Magus go through your good cop bad cop

"Weird coincidence, that. I guess they took him to the hospital."

As far as the base conversation is concerned, Och simply looks around at
the lot of you. "Well, what do you think? Should we go with these guys
or build our own headquarters? I know Stone Cold's opinion, as well as
Rebound's, but I haven't heard from the rest of you yet."

(hint hint hint)

Meanwhile, after Jinx comes back from the stairwell and tells you what

with some head busting, eh? Buncha blue goons, anyway."

The giant, sapient gecko looks at the two of you looming over him, and
decides to talk at last, after a weighty sigh. "Of course, you realize
that the boss is gonna get me for talking, but fine. To answer your
question, lizard-man, that was the Master."

"She's a mighty dragon from beyond the veil, who has taken up residence
on this world of late. She really enjoys this bizarre, backward (yet
advanced) culture you humans seem to partake in here. Of course, she
also likes the ample opportunities to make tons and tons of money!"

"As far as what that is," the Gecko says as it looks at the cybernetic
hand you brandish at it, "is a powerful talisman of a form of magic that
the Master has yet to encounter or understand. She doesn't know about
combining magic with the technology of your world."

"But she definitely wants to learn."

After you flick the thing in the ear-regions, Masque, the Gecko looks at
you and tries to shrug - but it is too bound up to pull the maneuver off
correctly. It looks more like a wince. "Why New York City, you ask,
Mage? Well... where else would one wishing to amass power reside?"

"There is no city on earth like this one. Duh." After seeing the
continuing looks from the two of you, those rather mean-spirited,
negative looks, it continues. "As far as why I'm in her company, I
suppose you could call me her familiar. Minion, assistant, go-getter,
etc..."

"Though I'm NOT cowardly."

All of you sit in the hospital room looking at poor Ken.

You left the secret compound within the Electronicists League
building to make sure the guy was okay, only to see that he isn't,
really. It's kind of unnerving, especially to you Rebound, since you
literally saw him get killed by Zartan and then just 'get better'
minutes later.

At least he seems intact, however. From the accounts of the doctors
that are pushing their way around you in the room, you gather that
his ordeal's been rather rough, and that he was covered in some sort
of fleshy growth when he was fished out of that 'helicopter wreckage'
last night.

Of course, you all know that that was no helicopter - it was a
falling chunk of space ice, and it flattened your 'pal' A.S.9 when it
hit... sort of odd that Ken happened to be there too, unless he was
inside it. Considering the hamburger state he was in when he
arrived, Ken's seemingly doing great.

What exactly happened there, and the ultimate fate of the last member
of your group that fought with Morbis, Reaper, is still something of
a mystery. As is, of course, why Masque and Magus are carrying
around an oversized, whimpering gecko wrapped up in some sort of
mystic rubber band and padlock set.

The lot of you ran into those two right after you left the
Electronicists, looking rather angry, charred, and confused. When
they heard you were off to locate Ken, they joined up with you even
though they seemed to have something... dangerous on their minds.
Unfortunately, they brought the gecko.

Of course, now that you're all here, the simple question is what you
want to do next? Ken doesn't seem to be going anywhere, and he's not
dead, so that's a good thing. There's the matter of those terrorist
boobs that Jinx has a bead on, as well as that gecko. And of course,
setting up shop somewhere...

Unless something else strikes your fancy...

(p.s.: for those of you that haven't been posting much lately - if
at all - now'd be a good time to hop back in. Hint hint. Oh sure, I
sort of dropped the ball myself, but then, I didn't have all that
much to work with... heheh. No pressure, mind y'all, I'm just trying
to get things moving again, eh?)

"Arrgh... that's Gecko, not Geico, you painted Jezebel!" You get the
distinct impression, Ari, that not only did Masque and Magus' captive
not like your comment, but that he doesn't like YOU either. "Fools!
You cannot contain me forever! I am Mighty!"

Seeing the various looks the rest of you give him, though, the gecko
quickly zips it - after all, he IS at your mercy.

As the conversation veers into a discussion about dragons, you leave the
room to get some fresh air, Jinx - and find that you've been followed by
Och. "Hope you don't mind if I join you... I just don't like hospitals
- they reek of mortality. I'd rather not think about such things yet."

"I'm still young, you know..." Of course, the fact that Och LOOKS about
fifty doesn't mean anything; those Dwarves are supposedly long lived, or
so popular lore would have one believe. Assuming you don't tell him
where to go, he has a seat and grabs a handy television remote.

Of course, you're not concentrating on what bounty the television has to
offer, Jinx, as you're trying to contain your probability field as best
as you can; wouldn't do to let YOUR power run amok in the middle of the
intensive care ward, now would it?

Before the two of you can truly relax, though, you hear a slam down the
hall, and spy Magus leaving Ken's room in a decidedly angry manner.
Just then, despite the fact that you're pulling your field in as far as
possible, you overwhelmingly sense that something's very, very wrong.

Moments later, after Magus has cleared out of Ken's hospital room, those
of you paying attention (namely, Masque) hear a slight 'ping' in the
air, and looking around, you notice that the gecko is suddenly glowing a
cool, pleasant shade of blue.

"Aah... refreshing...", he says as the rest of you sit in the wake of
Magus' departure. After the extraplanar swordsman's footfalls can no
longer be heard, the lot of you then catch wind of a different sound
altogether. It's an oddly sibilant female voice. In your head.

"You know, I get the distinct impression that someone doesn't like
me..."

Looking in unison, all of you in Ken's hospital room spy the giant red
beast outside the window, holding her impressive bulk in the air with
flap after mighty flap of her leathery wings. Of course, that all pales
before what your eyes focus on - her wide open mouth!

And then, more directly, the massive gout of flames that issue forth
from it. The blast of eldritch flames strikes the steel door of the
hospital room and quickly deflects to strike everything in the room -
everything - with an Amazing (50) burst of fire and heat.

As you all reel from the effect of this devastating assault, those of
you not temporarily flash blinded by the fireball that just engulfed the
room see the apparent dragon reach in real quick and seize the (still)
bound gecko from the room - he seems oddly unhurt, and is still glowing
blue.

The monster then quits flapping its wings, allowing gravity to
momentarily take hold, thus spiriting it away before you can fire off
any retorts at it from your current location. Luckily, though, most of
you had some sort of defense against this supernatural ambush.

Well, except for Masque, who can at least heal real quick...

Unfortunately, she'd be cut off by the blast of fire filling the room as she
focused her probability field in to concentrate on her form, offering
herself minimal protection [Sh 0 against mystical attacks, in fact] while
diving over the unconscious form of Ken, trying to shield his body from the
brunt of the conflagration.

Once the initial blast subsided, she'd immediately spring to her feet and
run to the window to check to see if the dragon was immediately below her.
If it was she would dive out the window, holding her gun above her head and
firing a single time to give her the momentum to catch up to the plummeting
reptile, hopefully landing on its back or neck. If she landed correctly,
she'd hold onto a convenient spine or scale and let loose with a full-auto
barrage at point blank range into the monsters neck, attempting to at least
get its attention if not actually hurt it (she would like its carcass to
drape across the landscape, though).

If the dragon was too far away to possibly reach, she'd take moment to take
aim at the gecko in its grip and let loose with a single shot, attempting to
remove the prize through the loss of its life muttering, "An eye for an
eye."

As the blast of dragon fire subsides, those of you that are still
conscious see Jinx come running into the room (having had her little
talk with Magus in the hallway between Ken's room and the waiting room
during the mystic ambush) as the flames sputter out all around you.

Not stopping for a second, she runs and jumps up onto the window sill,
her boots displacing molten glass some, and apparently without pause,
leaps out of the eighth story window, firing her gun over her head as
she does so. Looks like a true action movie moment, that.

Anyway, as you careen downward towards the impossibly large reptile,
Jinx, you see the gecko in its grasp look at you and get all bug-eyed;
it's almost comforting until you actually reach the gigantic red beast,
at which point you pass right through it!

Before you can react to that, you strike the concrete below with a
horrible, bone-crunching sound that prompts a gaggle of six children
walking nearby to go 'eew' as you actually manage to dent the sidewalk.
Your fall deals you 80 points of damage before your p-field's defense.

It hurts... but not so much as the pain you feel as you see the
apparently REAL dragon high over head, circling for a moment before it
flies off. Naturally, though, as it vanishes from view, it takes the
time to gloat in your general direction. "Ooo, that'll leave a mark."

"Silly American cowboys..."

You almost want to fire a full volley at the thing, but you simply hurt
too much; you know you'd probably miss the monster, being fast moving
target over 200 feet in the air, but you still feel the urge to shoot it
anyway. Or anybody else that crosses you all of a sudden...

Meanwhile, back in the hospital room, various doctors and nurses come
running in to wheel Ken out of there - and into a less dangerous room -
that being one where all of you AREN'T. An orderly then checks in on
the unconscious Masque, who scares him to death upon waking.

Burnt wizards aren't a pretty sight, you know.

Amidst all this confusion, Och finally pushes his way into the room,
having been the most distant from the calamity, and makes sure
everybody's still alive. Once he determines this, he looks out the
window to see if he can see any sign of the creature that did this.

Failing that, he trains his vision on Jinx, down there on the concrete.
Once he sees her moving (mostly making gestures with her middle fingers
at lookie lou's), Och turns back to the rest of you. "Hm... I think
this is something we should deal with relatively soon."

"Anybody have any clue how to find a dragon's lair?"

Ari shakes her head. "I usedta play D&D as a kid, but beyond that? No
dice, Och. Pun not intended."

Crimebuster, brushing himself off, responds to Ari and Och:

"Cute. Seriously though, Where could something THAT big hide out that no
one would see? Or maybe someone HAS seen it.
I think an internet search is in order here. Is anyone around REALLY good
with computers or should I put my - ahem- limited
skills to the test? "

Jinx would screech in frustration and rage as she came crashing into the
cement, her probability field soaking up a good chunk of the damage, but not
enough to leave her unscathed.

Reeling in pain, she'd roll over onto her back, her guns at her sides as she
feebly lifted her hands to gesticulate fiercely into the dragon-filled sky.

"INSERT MANY EXPLETIVES!"

Then she'd promptly fall silent realizing that she probably wasn't going to
be moving for quite some time.

~Heh, isn't that ironic. I broke myself in front of a hospital. Heh, heh,
heh. Ouch.~

"....bitch!"
Masque rises like Count Dracula only clumsier. The burns healing at an
exponential rate. The blue aura begins replacing his charred skin. He
actually seems to be gaining some semblance to a normal human...well as
normal as Masque gets. Although some would say that he looked better when
one couldn't see his pasty white skin, what with all clothing gone save for
the recquisite covering for his unmentionables.

Masque stands up and seems almost too calm, the kind of calm that is scary.
Walking towards the window without a word doing some sort of Magic with his
fingers he points... that way.
(whichever way the Dragon went)
(Rolling a yellow feat (78) he attempts to locate the magic trail the
Dragon is leaving)

> "Anybody have any clue how to find a dragon's lair?"

Turning slowly towards Och, Masque simply states:
"I got dibs on it's head."

With the patchy skin and the way it is healing and all the blue going...oh
yeah... and his eyes seem to be twitching, one is hard pressed to disagree
with him.

Conjuring forth 10 of his magical steed outside the window he says:
"All aboard who's going aboard....unless you can travel yourself."

Hopping on a Binky....he seems to be fighting some inner battle, muttering
to himself and looking down and then towards the sky....
"Somebody get the girl."
and he points at Jinx.

Before Masque Hops on his Binky, he turns towards Rebound.
"Are you Deaf man??!! I just said I know how to follow it. Rather I pointed and said I get's it head. Nonetheless that silly air force of yours couldn't find their arse from a hole in the dimensions."
Looking indignant Masque turns and hops on Binky.
Hollering through the window,
"Now if yer all done ignoring the 'crazy' mage, i suggest you follow me. I have provided transportation for those who can't fly. Just hop on a Binky. And be quick about it, i'm losing the trail."
Masque moves outta the way and Harrumphhs loudly.
"Harrumphh!"

Jinx would blink at the magical steed, throwing herself over the side of the
beast, muttering, "Hey, take me up to the window I fell out and put me in
that room."

Once the mount did this, she'd curl up on the floor of the hospital room and
mutter something about needing a doctor.

~Damn, if only I didn't throw myself out the window, I could go and get
killed with them!~ she'd muse as she lost consciousness.

Masque looks somewhat disconcerted.
"Not exactly what I had expected for a Dragon's Lair."
Scratching his head and ruffling his robes, much like an angry bird, he
proceeds downward.

Examining the building and its surroundings, he Harrumpphs.
"Harrumpph!"

Not wanting to make the same mistake twice, he throws up his eldritch shield
and is scanning for anything magical...namely magical fire or anything that
could come from a dragon's maw.

Turning towards his companions, he states, very matter-of-factly,
"This does not bode well."

"This is not a normal building at all.........."
He brightens up a bit and says to Magus,
"Hey, you still got that thing the gecko had?"

that nice as of late. Not to mention that I've just returned from vacation a

Magus doesn't even glance towards Jinx as he hears the rather hostile
nature of her own words and merely continues walking away from her and
essentially everyone else.

*By Io...the rudeness of such beings..,* he thinks silently to himself
as he wanders the hallways of the building away from everyone.

Grimly the draconic warrior mage rides atop the mystical steed remaining
silent as he ponders unknown matters. Oddly enough the fact that he's a few
stories above the ground doesn't seem to faze him in the least.

His emerald slitted eyes squinting Magus finds this area to carry the
equivalent of a very bad vibe around it but still says nothing.

>"This is not a normal building at all.........."
>He brightens up a bit and says to Magus,
>"Hey, you still got that thing the gecko had?"

Magus reaches to his belt where the robotic hand hangs and tosses it to
the eccentric, if not outright insane, magick wielder. His eyes barely
moving from the entrace of the building. No sooner does the mechanized limb
fly towards Masque does he begin to deliberately stalk towards the building.

Rebound dismounts, shrugs, and follows the only one who seems to know where
they are going. "Um, anyone have a suggestion on what to do if we DO find
the dragon?"

Rebound mutters under his breath as he follows Magus "I can't believe
this...hunting dragons in NYC...just another day"

Magus speaking in the softest of whispers states with ernest, "...kill
it..." Even for Rebound, being the one closest to him physically has to
straing to hear the simple answer.

>Rebound mutters under his breath as he follows Magus "I can't believe

As Magus steps closer into the area absent of magic he glances about
himself at the sudden, odd feeling of it's absence. His eyes narrow slightly
and he continues onward.
