"Not me, mind you, but Charlie. No, really."

To the old man, i'll just shrug. The sort of 'well,

You can say a lot with a shrug, after all.

i then go downstairs and hoep everyone follows.

Rebound dives at the legs of the goon squad hoping to take the lot of them

(well, since we're all back again... heheh)

Ken looks at you while you make your entreaty to be constructive, Jinx, right as Rebound leaps at them there thugs. These folks seem to be a slightly higher grade of goon, though, for they all actually manage to sidestep the bouncy fellow's tackle.

As you bounce by the oddly nimble goons, Rebound, you hear their various weapons and such start making 'click-y' and 'woo-y' noises, and get the impression that this is about to hurt, when you hear Ken say "Oh, stop it." Though it's not what he said so much as how he said it.

His words seem to have literally made A-Lonse's goons stop.

They then start to float in the air, apparently not under their own power from the looks on their faces. "Constructive, eh, Jinx?" Ken then snaps his fingers, causing the various thugs to fall out of what's left of the building in various ballistic arcs.

Meanwhile, as Ken starts to get ultracreepy (TM), the two of you outside seem to have your own problems with goons, Ari, Stone Cold. "Morbis? Never heard of him, goof ball. Why don't you be a good little freak and come with me, and you won't get hurt..."

On the other hand, the goon menacing you specifically, Ari, chuckles. "Yeah, right. Like I'm gonna fall for that one, girly-girl..." That's when he gets hit from behind by several falling people, apparently shot out of the destroyed building there - and fast!

Och just says "!"

Apparently he should've listened to you...!

***

"Thank you, Geoffrey. Once again, you show that you are the best student I
ever had... thank you...!"

After you collect Slow Jim, the two of you make your way through the
streets of New York City, and find yourself at what would appear to be a
rather posh building, apparently chock full of nice apartments.

It's about fifty stories in height, though the first five floors are what
would appear to be a parking garage, so folks don't have to leave their
vehicles to the mercy of common street thugs.

It looks like somewhere that you would live, Geoffrey.

There is a doorman present, though he doesn't appear to be bothered by
either you or by Slow Jim. This is interesting, in that while he's mostly
clothed, Jim's head is nonetheless transparent.

Once you tell Jim that this is where the two of you need to be, your
erstwhile sidekick seems to be trying to say something, but all that comes
out is something like "..."

Assuming you ask him what's up, he replies "I know this building. I stayed
here with the people that saved me from imprisonment on my own, ruined
earth. What an odd coincidence...!"

Coincidence, indeed...!

As the echo of your powerful lighting breath fades, most all of the
vampires before you lay unconscious on the street (unconscious vampires?),
Magus. Their apparent leader gets up, dusts himself off, and frets over
the smoking hole in his golden age suit, however.

"Drat, you savage. Look what you've done to my coattails! This ensemble
was made back in 1897... how ever will I replace the nostalgic
value...? And my minions! You've felled my poor, unfortunate human
groupies. What did they call themselves again, 'part-time vampires'?"

Looking down at the ground, you do indeed see that these vampires are not,
in fact, vampires. Part of the reason you didn't smell their smell wasn't
that they were wearing powerful deodorant, but instead it was because
they're not, in fact, undead!

Most of them were apparently wearing fake fangs. The impact of your
lightning strike jarred the cosmetic teeth-covers out of their mouths, like
a boxer struck too hard in the ring. Others seem to have had their 'red'
eyes knocked out, the colored contact lenses laying on the street.

The two you didn't manage to knock out are fleeing the scene, as fast as
their little human legs can carry them.

Kids these days.

Seeing your drawn swords, though, the true vampire before you
shrugs. "Very well. If you insist on doing battle here, I must warn you
that I, too, am a master swordsman." He then uses his elongated finger
nails to gouge at his own palms.

The unholy ichor that seeps from these wounds doesn't fall to the ground,
so much as pool around his hands, forming (after a few seconds) what appear
to be blades composed of the substance. "As well as a mighty sorcerer, I
might add...

"Prepare to face El Cuchillo de la Sangre - prepare to face your doom!"

This doesn't look pleasant. At all.

Elsewhere, amid the sounds of Mos Quito getting pummeled senseless, you
take a swipe at the were-kangaroo that seems most interested in yourself,
Masque. "Harghck! Oy! You didn't have to CUT me!" The emphasis, of
course, occurring when the were-kangaroo KICKS you.

Before you throw up your magic shield.

The fell mystic beastie from down under gives you the impression that he
caved in your rib cage as he knocks you back into the brick wall behind
you. You would have suffered Good (10) Blunt Attack damage from both the
kick and the brick wall impact, but you got strong bones.

Since you drink your milk - copiously, in fact.

Instead you 'only' suffer a total of twelve points of damage - isn't damage
reduction grand?

Either way, since you're still conscious, you are in fact able to assemble
your mystic shield.

"Well now, what have we here! Hey boys, check this out!" The other
were-kangaroos stop kicking Mos Quito around and begin to advance towards
you as well, Masque, leaving the strange were-beast consuming vampire to
fall to the ground with a thud. "Ow, mi cabeza," says Mos Quito.

"What's my story?" Harry the Space Pilot laughs. "See, I come from earth
in around the year 3101 or so, where the world got knocked off it's
rotational axis by some fellow named A-Lonse, oh, last year. But that got
prevented, so I shouldn't exist now.

"That got stopped after I met these fellows from this time period, a big
rocky guy and this bouncy guy in a mask, who needed to get back home - and
wanted to stop A-Lonse from wrecking their planet. So, I flew them to the
only time platform I knew of, and came with 'em.

That description sounds vaguely familiar to you, Gunslinger. The fellow
with the mask, that is.

"Since the platform was out on Decima, see, and it doesn't shift things
through space as well. So, I gave 'em a ride back to earth once we arrived
here, and I've sort of had nothing to do but fly him and his super hero
pals around when they need it.

"Which is okay, since I guess my world's been erased, maybe. Or
something. Not that I'd really want to go back anyway, what with it being
ruled over by those damn pink Varakni from their cruddy capital in
Antarctic City..."

Assuming you're still awake by the time Harry goes through all this,
Gunslinger, you see Charlie lead Moebius and the old Timesmith down through
the roof access. "Hyjinks? Gunplay? Count me IN, bruthah." Moebius
seems thrilled at this, though not the timepiece maker.

"I hope not. I'd like the place to be in one piece when I sign the
appropriate papers...!"

You all make your way to the penthouse apartment Charlie has called home
for a couple of months now, and once y'all open the unlocked door, you find
yourself in a rather opulent apartment. Everything looks great, and ritzy
as heck. Except for the lady on the recliner.

She's sitting in a thong and a cut off T-shirt on the leather La-Z-Boy,
with a tub of ice cream between her legs. She's apparently channel
surfing, and looks as though she hasn't bothered moving in a few hours -
the ice cream appears to be a bit melty.

The ODD thing is that, while looking rather attractive in her own right,
she seems to resemble... resemble Charlie! Like she were a female version
of himself. "Christ, you fuckers, you gonna close the door or do I have to
give the whole goddamn building another peep show?"

(ooc: sorry for the delay, everybody - been out of sorts lately, but I'll
be getting to everybody else tomorrow, word?)

You move to the nearest 'window', Jinx, and find that the gaping hole in
the structure that so recently imprisoned you gives a wide view of... a
city. Which is apparently covered by a rather large ice dome... or beneath
a glacier.

It's not that large, really, but there's plenty of vertical spires that are
seemingly designed to make maximum use of the space available. There's a
rather large crowd of people milling about outside, both fleeing from and
advancing on the building.

You can see Ari and Stone Cold and Och out there...

In response to your becoming armed, Ari, Och grins and whips out his
axe. "Aye. Let us do some damage, yes?" He then runs towards the
structure, regardless of how many flames are currently leaping forth from
it, much less the gaggle of people streaming out of it.

As all this takes place, you find that Ken seems somewhat... distant,
Rebound. "..." is all he says for about a minute or so... then he
seemingly returns to earth. "Well, that was easy enough. I managed to
finally find Reaper - he's about three star systems over.

"He's working as a sort of galactic peace maker, thanks to that wacky
motorcycle of his - which he borrowed from War itself. I'll have to go out
there real quick and see if he wants a ride home... or if he's settled into
his new position...hm.

"Not that home is all that great. Did you realize, Rebound, that nobody's
in charge of anything anymore? The whole world is being fought over by
hundreds of secret societies... whose power bases shift faster than jello
on a vibrating bed?

"I can see it now. For example, the Direct Action Americans are in control
of the Department of Agriculture, and are using it to root out alien
Mhungus who have infiltrated the Department of Justice. But those psionic
mushrooms have called in backup.

"They're sending a gaggle of Frankologists to destroy the D.A.A. agents in
control of the operation, having convinced them they're some sort of
right-wing extremist group. Which they are, after a fashion, if in a
highly illegal manner. It's staggering.

"It's all anarchy... and interconnected to everything that's gone to Hell
in the world lately. I can barely believe it myself... like that thing in
your head...!"

Rebound starts to take a step towards the outside and the ensuing battle but
pauses at Ken's words. This is the second person to tell him about
something in his head. The first time, it was just a maniac with a
reflective cranium, but this...this was Ken. So matter-of-factly stated,
that Rebound knows it must be true.

"Dammit! It must have been put in there during training.
But...ohmygod...if this thing is still working, they know where I am...what
I'm doing. They have been listening in on everything. Everything! I've
put you all in danger. You. Especially you Ken. I'm sorry. I just didn't
know."

Rebound sits down on the floor, holding his head in his hands. Gloved hands
search masked head for the scar where they inserted the chip. Unable to
feel anything through all the material, he resigns himself to what he knows
must be done. Slowly, Rebound removes his gloves, finger by finger, trying
not to look too closely at his ruined hands.

"Fingernails. I just wish I still had fingernails."

Agonizingly slowly, he raises his now trembling fingers and begins to pull
his mask off. He allows the mask to drop to the floor atop his gloves.
Reaching around, he feels his misshapen skull, looking for where the implant
was inserted. Finding the tiniest of skeletal scars, he sinks further to
the floor, staring at the rubble he's sitting on. Without lifting his head,
he asks in a quiet little voice...

"Ken? Can you get this thing out of me?"

Jinx looks around for anything that might be able to get the attention of their compatriots so that they'll notice her up in the building. Thinking a flare would be optimal, she'd be willing to settle for anything loud and/or bright (perhaps a fire extinguisher she could toss out the window then shoot to make it explode).

While digging through the lab, she'd perk up at the mention of the D.A.A., shaking her head.

"Well, they're in for a world of hurt. I suppose I should take the opportunity to warn them when it pops up."

As Rebound has his moment, Jinx raises a brow and then turns back to her rummaging, doing her best to let him have his peace.

"What. The. Fuck. I can't believe this. Let me guess, you gave the

That's when she seems to notice Moebius for the first time.

When she does, the other Charlie moves with uncanny speed to sidle up to

hanging around this loser, huh? If you're lookin' for fun, I'm your man.
Well, not technically, really, but I've got the goods."

Looking at the slightly demonic time traveler, you see that her eyes seem

"Woot! I've got to see me this..." The old man then whips out some
device, dinks with a few dials, and indeed tunes in to what can only be an
instant replay of Moebius slowing down time and hitting your 'other' about
ten times, in various places, with manic angry in her eyes.

After Moebius takes her heel off the back of the female you's hand,
Charlie, she grunts. "Okay, forget the broad. Why'd you sell my house, again?"

Ken keeps looking all starry there, until you ask your question, Rebound,
to which he seems to smile. "Well, yeah." You then feel a slight warmth,
apparently coming from... somewhere inside your head.

"Don't stress it though, man. It was apparently some sort of weird
interrogation thing they could only access while you were
unconscious. Kind of like a... hypnotic debriefing?

"And they haven't used it since they wrote you off for dead after your
transformation. They tried when you went missing, but they couldn't access
it due to your metabolic shift at the time, and wrote you off.

"It seems the disco guy just accidentally turned it on?

"Yeah. Hm. Apparently, the bio-chip wasn't even the NSA's idea. It was
built by some company called Bio-Logic Industries as some sort of
'industrial espionage paradigm', as their computer files say.

"Or, rather, SAID."

His eyes flash when he says that.

"No more computer files, no more hard copies, no more tape backups buried
in a vault under Death Valley. The jerks. Neat. Once you KNOW
everything, it's like you can DO anything. Whee!"

Now, THAT happy tone of voice makes you nervous.

Just across the laboratory, or rather the tattered remnants of what used to
be one, itself within the tattered remnants of the headquarters building
that contained it, you move, Jinx.

You find a fire extinguisher, naturally, and chuck it out a whole which may
or may not have been a window at one time. Whipping out one of your guns,
you then pepper it with bullets.

It blows up spectacularly, coating the floors below, and the street full of
panicky pink peoples, with fire-retardant foam. And some shrapnel. And,
it would seem that your fellows noticed your shenanigans.

You do, indeed see that on the street, Ari, Stone Cold. And see Jinx up
there in this burning hulk of a building. And that right after Och yells
"Arrh, matey!" He's got one eye closed, and is doing the 'pirate' thing.

Which would be almost funny, if it weren't for the reaction it's getting in
the people around you. Seeing this short, suddenly one-eyes fellow running
at them with an axe and going ARRH doesn't help their morale.

They all make way, and nobody else seems willing to do much opposition -
especially after the armed people got kayo'd by, well, more flying armed
people. So now what?

(I would've added stuff from your post, Stone Cold, but I never got the
thing - sorry 'bout that)

fe-charlie grunts or moebius grunts?

Anyway.

i whip out the time-traveling staff.

"MAGIC BEANS, HO!"

i will time travel about three seconds into the past,
just to demonstrate how much trouble i can cause now.

Oh, then once i catch up to myself going back in time,
i will disappear momentarily into the past, in order
to sign over various paperworks for the crusty ass
time machine maker, so's that he is now technically
the owner of this place, in our here and now, as we

and being underlined) i whip the plot about ten steps
ahead so's to make up for my being in Nigeria for the
last month. Had to accept a ten million dollar bank
transfer, see.

When i get back, i will explain in detail.

"The man there, see, he upgraded my transient steel
staff, see, so that i can now travel through time as
easily as the both of us travel through space.
Easier, actually, since i just push a button and make
things go. No three week period involved. Am i boss,
or am i boss? Now, put some pants on, we have to
move. And you need to get a job, 'cause this cost us
everything. And i mean everything. You have one
outfit of clothes. i assume the old man wants your
spare underwear, too. Being that he's old and lonely."

Hahahahah. Pop, my puppet.

i then give the old man the papers that say this place
is his, and show him where he ought to sign, so i can
go back in time again and hand them back to the
landlord and thus really own the thing i'm using to
make untold paradoxes in the space-time continuuuuuum.

People disperse in a mad panic as you run at the burning mess of a
former-building, Ari, firing your hand cannon willy-nilly in the
process. Of course, those not frightened off by your gunfire seem more
than unwilling to tempt a short fellow with a sharp axe who keep saying "ARRRH!"

As you, Och and Stone Cold make your way in to help your fellows, you spy
Rebound as well as Jinx, but still don't see any sign of Ken - just a big
whitish glow coming from behind the two of your more 'top secret'
allies. Entering the building is a cinch, though.

All those holes and no guards makes for a simple B&E.

Meanwhile, upstairs, the two of you can see the huge panic that Ari and Och
seem to be sowing on the streets of this bizarre, buried-under-ice
city. Looking outside, Rebound, you're finding yourself experiencing a
strange sense of 'de ja view'.

This city... it's looking mighty familiar. Especially that town square -
actually circular shaped - in the center of it. Even more especially that
tower in the middle of the square, that reaches up towards the top of the
circular ice dome...

This is just like that city you visited in the future!

Under ice, of course.

But I digress.

As you pose your question to Ken, he laughs. "Oh, he's not hiding,
Jinx. And don't worry, Rebound - he's on his way here. 5, 4, 3..."

Two seconds later, Ari, Och and Stone Cold make their way in to this
former-laboratory, when what's left of the floor behind you explodes
upwards. And, of course, there's the obligatory angry, yet familiar voice
coming from the resulting, swirling smoke and ash.

"You. Miserable. Bastards."

That's A-Lonse, all right.

Still alive, and still surly as heck.

"You know, it's bad enough that I allowed myself to be talked out of
killing the lot of you by that outdated freak I dug up in a N.S.A.
warehouse, but now you've gone and destroyed my laboratory. My
headquarters! Years of work, down the drain.

"I've been TRYING to save what's left of my people from utter ruin, but you
meddling ingrates..." A-Lonse pauses to catch his breath. He's looking
even pinker than usual. Either he's got dangerously high cholesterol, or
he's about to pop.

"Ruined! Everything! All right, you idiots - KILL THEM!!!"

"And bring me their spleens...!"

At this point, the smoke and such clears enough that you can now see
A-Lonse, sitting on the same kind of hover-chariot-thing that he was using
way back in the sewers of New York City (those of you that remember his
efforts to resurrect Morbis may recall that device).

And he's not alone. About a dozen heavily armed goons are streaming out of
the hole A-Lonse made, presumably using ladders, since they're coming up
from below you. They don't look as weak as those fellows on the street, or
the guards that were present before.

And they look angry.

"Maybe you didn't HEAR me. Destroy these aliens before they destroy us all!"

To which Ken says "Heh."

You and Slow Jim head on up to the top floor, Geoffrey, and there is indeed
an elevator caddy for you to tip. He seems quite appreciative of that, in
fact. Once you get to the top floor, there are apparently only four
edifices here to choose from.

They all issue forth from a main hallway that, at each end, seems to have
an elevator and emergency stairwell. One of the doors is slightly ajar,
however, and it sounds as though arguing is brewing within that
residence. Luckily for you, though, that's not where you're going.

Slow Jim leads you to Penthouse Number One, which is right across the hall
from the one apparently full of loud folks, and after Jim rings the bell, a
man answers the door. He's tall, about six foot one, and appears to be
rather... hairy.

He's wearing a towel to cover up anything you'd rather not see, but that
still doesn't quite take care of the rather impressive tufts of hair he's
got just about everywhere else. When he sees the two of you looking at him
somewhat oddly, he clears his throat.

"Ehm. Apologies for my lack of dress, you caught me right out of the
shower. I've had a rather long day dealing with incredibly dull people, so
I had to clear my head some. Is there anything I can do for you two
gentlemen?" The pale man uses another towel to dry his impressive afro.

He's an odd sort, somewhat resembling Tom Jones - a much younger Tom Jones
- with a big nose and heroic side burns added on for good measure. Slow
Jim just says "!" to all this... and when he recovers, asks "Who the Hell
are you? And where's everybody else that's supposed to live here?!"

"Ehm." After clearing his throat again, the man laughs. "Ah
yes. Rebound, Jinx, etc... Well, they're off gallivanting on one of
their, well, adventures, I suppose. They left here in a huff through their
magic closet, but I wasn't about to join them, oh no.

"I'm a busy man, after all. Have an appointment with a former President,
in fact..."

At just this point, Geoffrey, you see somebody enter the hallway from the
closer of the two stairwells, this one looking ... out of place here. He's
tall, unbelievably pale, and dressed like unto a wild west style
gunman. And he's got guns, to be sure.

The odd thing about him is that he doesn't seem to have a nose...!

Switching perspectives, now, you leave Harry the Space Pilot behind to
investigate what is going on with Charlie Chicanery, Moebius, and the old
time machine maker, Gunslinger. You head down the stairs to enter the top
floor penthouse that is Charlie's, when things go... odd.

You see one door ajar, and three people talking at another door across the
'street'. The 'empty' doorway seems to be where Charlie is, 'cause you
hear Moebius cussing inside. But this other one is odd... the man inside
that penthouse is almost nekkid - but the others are dressed very well.

Although one of those people's heads is see-through.

Switching perspectives yet again, you dial up the time travel dingus before
anybody can react to it, Charlie, and you do indeed handle all the
paperwork shenanigans toot sweet. The management seems very helpful in
transitioning you OUT of the building.

If in the most polite way possible.

Your two time travel trips are pretty much without event, just very, very
boring.

Once you get back, your female half coos. "Oooh! I want one! I want
one!! No fair, I want one, too!"

To which Moebius frowns. "Yeah, why not. After all, it's not like we're
any less screwed with YOU having a time travel machine, Charlie. Hell, I
dare you to. Double DOG dare you to. In fact, I BET you can't manage that
without turning space-time inside out..."

Moebius then does some magic thing, presumably to keep herself from getting
erased by ... whatever you do to take her up on her dare. Assuming you do,
of course. Heh. Regardless, the timesmith starts poking around the
place. "Ah yes, I think this will do nicely."

After a short pause, he then smiles. "And yes, I want her extra underwear..."

The vampiric swordsman / sorcerer manages to get his bloody swords between
his smoking torso and your own blades, and to your surprise, they make an
eerie metallic 'clang' sound - eerie since his swords aren't metal at
all. "So, creature. Still full of bravado?"

El Cuchillo de la Sangre then menaces you with a soul-piercing stare, as if
daring you to run away...!

Slightly elsewhere, before you manage to get bludgeoned into a misty mystic
pulp, Masque, you break out the charms and seem to ensnare most of your
foes. The head kangaroo-monster looks unfazed, but his minions seem
downright enthralled with you.

"Pretty...," they say in unison.

"Oy! Wake up you retards! We've got us a wizard to thrash - this
lollygagging won't do!" He's looking at you while he yells this, though,
so this fellow doesn't see Mos Quito sneak up behind one of the
were-kangaroos and box his ears.

The thing falls unconscious, allowing Mos Quito to drag him off somewhere
you can't see - if only because the other were-things are blocking your view.

"Fine then... I'll get this silly little man myself! The leader of this
ensnared gang then leaps at you feet-forward, Masque, but you do manage to
deftly dodge his attack. He would have hit, but your shield bounced him
off at the last minute, forcing him to bounce several times.

He almost lost his balance after sliding off your mystic defense, but he
had enough wall grips and such to save him.

"Well... right good, that is."

He seems at a loss for what to do next.

(ooh, I actually replied on TIME for once...)

It looks like things are really swinging in your favor here, especially after Ari and Rebound deal with the remaining goons, as does Och; he seems to be chasing one that had punched him in the face, one who seems intent on running away from the diminutive hero at breakneck speeds.

"Get back here you, it's Och's turn...!"

Just then, the three of you pound A-Lonse in a symphony of destruction, Rebound, Jinx, Stone Cold. Right after you pop him into the air with a devastating, hover-thinger destroying impact, Jinx peppers him with magnetically accelerated rounds as he soars upwards.

Then, a handy shaft of ice from Stone Cold abruptly stops his ascent, encases him in the frigid material, and causes him to drop to the ground with reckless, terminal velocity. He strikes the ground outside this building proper, where the ice containing him shatters spectacularly.

A few blocks away, where he hit, you can hear him say ow. "Ow..."

At about this time, a large portion of locals seem to have assembled outside the structure... most of them fire/rescue types. Some are beginning to spray the building with water, some are treating the many wounded, and some are seeking about, looking for troublemakers.

So the question is... what next?

!?

"Good point."

Rebound looks out the window to see where A-Lonse finally wound up and
prepares to head off in that direction. He attaches two solid handfuls of
strands to the remaining structure and leans backwards out the window.

"All aboard for the one-way trip down on the bungee-express"

Rebound pauses to allow any who care to do so to grab (stick) on to him before he begins to descend.

Rebound smiles...it's been so long that he'd forgotten how much he loved
rappelling. He can still remember that first day on Victory Tower. It was
windy, very windy. He felt as if he would be blown fight off...Rebound snaps
back to reality, shaking the memory from his head with a quietly whispered
phrase, "That's not me anymore."

"Here we go. Keep your eyes open and your cannons ready in case any of these jokers grow a backbone..."

He begins a rapid, but controlled descent in the traditional backwards posture almost wishing he didn't have any passengers and could take the headfirst dive of the Australian style. He always loved that snapping flip over at the end...

(woo, the temperature must be dropping rapidly SOMEwhere...)

The lot of you quickly exit the remnants of A-Lonse's apparent former headquarters, Stone Cold ramping down the slope thanks to his handy ice powers, Rebound and Jinx rappelling down on a strand of sticky goo, and Ari, well, I'm sure she managed... she's tricky that way.

Anyway, it's easy enough to spot A-Lonse himself - he's the guy who's laying in a small impact crater all his own. As you guys converge on his location, you note that several of the locals are as well. Not that they're looking all that combative, mind you.

Two of them are medical types - you seem to think from the gear they're carrying; they lack any of the standard 'first aid' or 'medic' or 'red cross' emblems. Two more seem to be fire fighting types, at least from the big shiny axes they're carrying.

The last would appear to be an officer of the Law. What law you're not sure, but he's a bright pink fellow like A-Lonse himself, and he's wearing a snappy, chalk-white uniform. He has two side=arms, but he has yet to draw them... which makes you wonder.

Most police confronted by the likes of y'all in the past were more than ready to pull weapons, not to mention fire, upon seeing you do... things with your... abilities. Much less apparently destroy a rather large (considering where you are) building.

This fellow moves with alarming speed as Stone Cold fires his blast of ice at the ailing A-Lonse, actually taking the shot instead of either a) letting it go down normally and shooting holes in your rocky ally, or b) shouting a lot and generally freaking out.

Suddenly beneath a considerable lump of ice, he starts yammering at you - though you know not what he's saying...!

er?

"What, you don't think that i can handle having the awesome power of time travel?" With that, i brandish my staff like unto some sort of pre-historic witch doctor, and do a little jig. It's too bad that my time traveling transient steel staff is not equipped with little jingly things for magic effect.

i could travel back in time in order to acquire some from the local jingly thing store in order to make such an emphasis before anybody notices, but... why.

Hah... i knew he was a perv.

"Perv."

i will then descend into the time stream. This will cause me to experience an extended chain of events that will mirror parts of my origin story somewhat, so if i can not actually do all of these things, well, just lemme know.

My goal is to travel back in time to the point where i first left on the mission that led to me being matter-duplicated, flying somewhat behind the version of me that is going there with Wendell Whats-his-face, and giving myself this staff to carry into the matter duplicator alongside my ordinary one, so that a) the old one gets copied (so i's avert a Paradox), and b) the new one gets copied (so i's appease my so-called better half).

After i manage all of this, i will make my way home, return to the present, and then give this copied staff to my female impersonator of a roommate. Then i will beat feet to get the heck out of here before that sick old man asks for all of my underwear.

Though i suppose he already did... the perv.

"Perv."

i know nobody's listening to me at this point, but so what? Unless there's some time cops or some shit already on my ass. Heh. Get Some, Jean Claude van Damn-it.

Anyway, i guess i will pump a metric butt-load of my Karma into these maneuvers, and using your handy .asp dice roller, i came up with 71, 33, 45, 02, and 91.

The almost-naked man looks sort of blankly at you, Geoffrey, in regards to your query to him. "Nope, I'm afraid that I don't know of whom you speak. I haven't known these fellows all that long, truth be told...!" In response to your other question, Jim looks at you sort of blankly, Geoffrey.

"Nope... never met him." These guys are chock full of useful info.

The fellow does indeed open up the door across the hall from the naked man where Jim's friends supposedly live, and seems sort of shock'd upon seeing what he is, in fact, seeing. Of course, the focus of his audible dismay doesn't seem too impressed with what this gun-toting fellow has to say.

"Excuse me, ass hole? What do you know? What happened to your nose, you get it rubbed off on the concrete, or are you just a Pekingese-alien? Talk about glass houses, you shouldn't have thrown that Neutronium boulder, shit stain, 'cause I'm about to open up a whole case of whupass for that."

The female Charlie moves over to the nearest wall, slaps it with her hand, thus causing a square around where her hand rests to glow. The wall then opens up, revealing a sort of safe, from which she withdraws what appears to be a double-ended flashlight. She then activates it.

It then produces, from each side, what would appear to be solidified shafts of light, akin to something you may or may not have seen in a local cinema a few years ago. The female Charlie then assumes Dramatic Action Pose Number Three, and says "Get Some." It would be more impressive, if she were dressed.

Being almost naked takes some of the effect away.

Meanwhile, Moebius, who should be cackling with manic glee at the prospect of imminent violence, is looking around as though she'd seen a ghost. She slowly scans, with her infernal eyes, every nook and cranny of the place. She then looks out the window. and fehs.

"Feh."

Looking at you whilst you face off with the female Charlie, she scowls. "Hey. You girls can fight it out all you want, but I think it's time for me to go. Did you idiots realize that you were all living in a building surrounded by a multi-dimensional access? Did you?! You morons!

"Who knows what might come out of nowhere to et us... grr."

She then makes for the door, at which point she sees Geoffrey, Slow Jim, and the naked hairy man. "Jeez, you people have any modesty?!" She stops again, looking as though she's looking through you, Geoffrey. You get the impression that she's about to pop, like everybody else in that apartment she came from.

Meanwhile again, elsewhere in space and time...

You spend a very, very long time retracing your origin behind yourself and Wendell, and though it was rather tricky, you DID manage to duplicate your time staff. It was quite a mess convincing your past self to do this, and feeling the memories of it pop in your head as you did it was disconcerting.

To say the least.

You get the impression that doing this much more might give you more of a head case than you're prepared to handle. However, it took you almost two months to manage this heroic feat of time-twisting, but you ultimately succeeded in it, and now have two handy time traveling staves.

You triumphantly return to the future, only to see all heck has broken loose.

"Okay, now, everybody, calm down...!"

This is the old timesmith talking.

"Don't trash the place just yet...!"

Your trio of tirades does not go unnoticed. The various folks around you start murmuring like mad. A lot of what you're picking up includes such greatest hits as "Elys is dead?", "Billions of People?", and of course, "What'd he say?".

As this begins to occur, the man Stone Cold encased in ice - if inadvertently - finally manages to break free of the chill imprisonment. He flexes mightily, and the ice falls off of him in large, heavy looking shards. "Ah, that's better."

Before he can move, however, one of those older, wizened types looks at the lot of you and grimaces. "Er, from the sounds of things, it would appear that A-Lonse hasn't been telling us the truth. For your information, he told us that humanity ws, er, gone.

"Nuclear holocaust and all that.

"If we had known that there were still people on earth - much less billions of you - we wouldn't have authorized his scheme to shift the earth's rotational axis. For that I, and I presume the rest of the city, truly apologize.

"And if Elys is truly dead, then we owe you a debt of gratitude. That beast has been preying on our city for hundreds of years, now." The old man then kicks A-Lonse in the jaw, knocking him unconscious before he can deny any of this.

"And this scoundrel has been telling us she wasn't, taking everything we had to appease the beast so she wouldn't eat our children. Again." He then kicks A-Lonse again. "I suppose we wanted a hero so bad we were willing to believe everything he said...!"

This elder-type looks despondent upon saying this, while the police-looking fellow collects A-Lonse. "I understand that you people have a SERIOUS bone to pick with this... filth, but he is a citizen of Antarctic City, and I wish to have him see justice here.

"Of course, I obviously can't stop you if you were to object, but... I think it would be good for the city. To see his lies brought to the surface, and to help us better deal with the society that has arisen while we hid here for so many centuries.

Though she was about to storm out of the place, the strangely-hued and -dressed lady stops as you ask your question, Geoffrey. You're not sure if it's the offer of remuneration or something else, but the look she gives you makes you think it's not the money.

"Wow... after all the company I've kept lately, it's nice to hear somebody who can utter at least one sentence without cursing...!" She pauses for a minute, and then digs around in a small backpack of hers. "Well, I haven't seen such a person, but I can FIND her.

"I assume, from your conversation with the hairy naked man, that she was here at one point...? If so, I can just trace her movements through time, up to the present. It's really rather simple, once you think about it. Though I guess a lot of things are...!"

With that Moebius sits down, and starts to do... things. She crosses her legs and starts waving her arms about, while doing eye-watering things with her fingers. She then starts saying weird things that you think you can almost understand, but nonetheless don't.

Her eyes then begin to glow.

"I have her trail. Short lady, apparently a telekinetic, used to live here... hung out with a large group of... unusual adventurers. Apparently, she... was kidnapped... while at the hospital, watching over a friend. Somebody named Ken..."

"Hey, that guy looks familiar...!"

"The people who grabbed her wanted to hold her for ransom against somebody named... Stone Cold... or something... but they never managed to get ahold of him or his friends. The strange thing is, she's... she's in this building.

"She's being held on this floor!"

Her eyes return to normal, and she puts her hand on the handle of her rather intricately crafted sword. The ebony-hued lady (not counting the red speckles on her forehead and hands) then gets an angry look on her face. "I KNEW this building was trouble...!"

Meanwhile, Gunslinger, you finished facing down Charlie's 'better' half while the man himself seemed rather disoriented after his trip through time. You tried to get Moebius to leave with you, oh yes, but then she had to help this finely-dressed fellow in the hallway out.

You've never heard her talk so much in your life. Or help someone, for that matter.

Before she can take you up on your offer of beating feet, though, current events go down hill. With velocity. You start seeing people pop out of nowhere, all wearing black, skin-tight bodysuits, which are of course topped off with spiffy black leather jackets.

This ensemble is complemented with white leather boots, gloves, belts and holsters. The trick, however, is that they're also wearing nice, shiny golden badges on the left side of their chest. They look like cops of some sort, and they kind of look familiar.

They pull guns out, and start pointing them at everybody present. "Everybody freeze! We are representatives of the Chrono Corps, and have detected six of the timestream's most notorious paradox generators sequestered in this very building.

"You're obviously up to no good, so just give up now, and nobody has to leave here in a pine box...!"

This, naturally, causes Charlie Chicanery to pop. Not the male one, mind you, but the nigh-nude one that you almost had to hurt, Gunslinger. "Ex-FUCKING-cuse me? You blip into MY pad, pull guns on everybody, and tell ME what to do?" She then wags her index finger at them.

After that, she grabs the duplicate time travel staff generated by her still-stunned male counterpart, and starts spinning that and her weird energy staff dingus in this mad dance of what looks like a six-pack of whupass. "That is SO it.

"Prepare for Trouble!"

Which, of course, causes the old timesmith to wince. "Um, hey?"

After a few moments of pondering, Rebound comes up with an idea. It's not his best idea ever, but he's not in his best form either for that matter.

(whee, so far, so good on the OS front)

The various elder-types before you shake their heads and raise their hands as though to reassure you, Jinx. "No, no, no... we won't be banishing this fellow anywhere. We'll be looking very, very closely at what he and his followers have been up to.

"When the evidence afoot confirms what you've been saying here, we'll be imprisoning A-Lonse, HERE, for a very, very long time. That would in fact be in his best interest, for I'm sure once the city at large catches wind of his deeds, they'll want to tear him apart..."

To you, Stone Cold, the same authority-type nods. "Yes, I understand your concerns as well. While we don't believe in killing our prisoners, we aren't going to let this fellow off with a slap on the wrist. People here took Elys' threat very, very seriously.

"If A-Lonse had simply told us the beast was dead, things would be different. But as things stand now...!"

Finally, to you, Rebound, the fellow who's apparently in charge (or at least in charge of talking to y'all) nods. "I appreciate your offer, especially in light of how you must look at our people after your encounters with our errant brother.

"When we need you, we will let you know. Of course, if there's anything we can do for you and your friends there, please let us know. We manage the city from the central tower there," at which point he motions towards the large building at the middle of town.

"We can address any of your needs from there, either now or as they may arise at a later date."

The old man who has been addressing your concerns smiles at you, Ari and Rebound. "Do not worry. Again, we understand that there has been some... animosity between you and A-Lonse. While it will make gathering evidence of his wrongdoing trickier, that shouldn't be a problem.

"It's not technology that we're lacking of late, so much as resources. But, at any rate, my name is Chairman Meos, and you may call upon my time and energy at any time if you need it. Sorry I did not introduce myself earlier, but things were a bit... harried."

He then directs the officer that Stone Cold inadvertently iced up earlier to cart A-Lonse off. The cop pulls some sort of electronic wand out of a handy holster, and moves it up and down A-Lonse's body, at which point it goes BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP a lot.

He then removes another device from a holster and zaps A-Lonse good. After this, he runs the wand over your foe, and notes that it doesn't make any sound this time. "Nano-scale devices neutralized..." Several other police then pull up some sort of hovering platform.

They hoist A-Lonse on it, and it levitates him several feet off the ground. They then begin to haul the platform away, taking the helpless villain you've fought so many times away... hopefully for the last time. "I'll be back, you cretins... mark my words...!"

Chairman Meos then frowns. "It's too bad... we had such high hopes from his efforts. If only he'd used his skills for good. Ah well, such is life." After a short pause to reflect, he then continues. "Well, unless you need anything else, I'll be getting back to work..."

While Rebound and Ari just comment to A-Lonse's final parting jabs verbally, Stone Cold tends to make a more... intimate reply to his "I'll get you" talk. The police holding him appear somewhat pensive as he grapples the villain by the throat.

And look visibly relieved as the rocky man released him.

The police then move A-Lonse MUCH MORE QUICKLY away from you, even as A-Lonse protests. "Aha! Aha! Assaulting me in custody, and such! You'll rue the day you let your temper get the best of you, Cold Stone - or whatever your name is. Ha!"

They then load him up in some vehicular contraption and ferry him towards that central building that Meos was referring to earlier. Presumably they have some sort of holding facility there - though in at least one future, they definitely did...

Anyhow.

After both Rebound and Jinx proffer plans of action, Och just sort of scowls. He seems perturbed, though he doesn't seem to be telling why. He then stomps off towards the ice tunnel that brought you to this bizarre, hidden city in the first place.

Meanwhile, as you re-enter A-Lonse's hulk of a former headquarters, Rebound, you do indeed find NO trace of your electronic slate. The thing has either been wrecked in the recent conflict or it simply wasn't here to begin with.

As such, you start to head back to the mountain base above, when you notice that Ken isn't quite following. He's just sort of floating there, as he apparently has been since he effected that translation stunt, and is staring off into space. So to speak.

At any rate, those of you who make for the former house of Elys get there in due time, since it's really not all that far away from here - just a few miles through the ice... even if a large portion of it is, in fact, vertically inclined.

When you get there, you see that bizarre, giant spider would appear to have indeed risen from the dead, as his little electronic thingus indicated earlier. It is shaking its head, but it would otherwise appear to be amongst the living.

As you begin to pull your sidearms, Gunslinger, you notice that the weapons held by the various, apparent Chrono Corps float out of their hands, and rotate around to face them. Then you let loose with the gravitic force blast.

They all go flying, scattered like so many leaves in the wind.

That's when the nigh-nekkid man sidles up to you, and starts whispering.

And no, not like you're thinking.

"Yes, yes... you couldn't have possibly gotten here sooner, friend. The temporal 'telephone' you gave me back in '74 seems to be working despite being idle for 27 years. Now, far be it from me to tell you how to do your job, but I'd break out the hellfire guns now...!"

One problem is that you don't know this fellow. The other problem is that you only know of one other Gunslinger that uses some sort of fiery weapon - and he happens to be the one you're looking for... the one who crisped up Temporal Management's Captain Harley Warbucks.

As this dawns on you, the guns that the Chrono Cops were wielding disappear, and then manifest again in their hands. They then start to regroup, as though preparing to assault you anew. "Fools - did you think we could be so easily separated from our weapons?!

"We have recall devices built in to them so we don't pollute the time stream. If only you would tread so carefully on everybody else's destinies...!" Their sanctimonious prattling is annoying to you all, of course, but more so to the female Charlie Chicanery.

"Oh do shut the hell up."

She then springs into action, whirling her two staves like mad, in an action that resembles a twin-rotored helicopter as she closes in on most of the Chrono Corops folk. She starts slashing away with the energy staff, and gives off tachyon blasts with her new one.

She moves so fast, thanks to her inherent flight capabilities, that four of them are unconscious and/or dismembered before they even realize what's going on. This causes the other two to run away - and how! One goes for the elevator, while the loud mouth hits the stairs.

He's screaming into some sort of wrist communicator all the while, too. "Back-up! Send back-up!" He looks like he's about to make it to safety when he stops suddenly, as though his mind wouldn't allow him to make another step forward. He then says "Holy Crap!"

You see why soon enough.

As he rounded that last corner to safety, he saw who was just coming down the stairs. It's a tall fellow, unnaturally pale. He's wearing a cowboy hat and a long black trench coat with a high, European style collar. He's overloaded with gun holsters and knife sheaths.

Oh, and he has no nose.

"Can you BELIEVE some asshole parked an invisible space ship on the roof? I just got my Prowler temporally active, too!"

Naturally, Moebius curses at this. "You know, I'm starting to think all these temporal cops have a point. You ARE the most irresponsible time traveler I know. I've met more versions of you in the last week than I could possibly imagine."

Changing the subject, Moebius points down the hall, Geoffrey. "Your lady-friend is in the penthouse next to this one, guy."

Back in Antarctic City, only about a minute or so after the others took off, Ken just looks at you and smiles, Rebound. You think, anyway - the weird starry look he's adopted makes that a bit tricky. "No, not spacing off... just looking at everything.

"Incidentally, I've really got to go, for a while. I need to check in on Reaper out there in space, see if he wants to come back... since I can, now. Then I need to make sure of a few things, to ensure nothing like this happens to me again."

He pauses for a second, theoretically in case you wish to say something, then he continues. "Is there anything I can do for you real quick-like before I go? I may be quite a while, so I just wanted to make sure... beings that you're like my best friend... heh."

Elsewhere, about a mile higher and to the left, not to mention several minutes from this point, you find yourself coated in ice, Jinx. It wasn't a particularly powerful burst of the stuff, so you actually manage to avoid being hurt altogether.

Though you're sort of iced to the spot. This leaves Arbuckle Van Gubenator, Master Architect of Places of Power for People With Money to Burn, a bit perturbed nonetheless. "I do say! Just what in the planes is the meaning of all this?!"

Making his way up the stairs just as all this occurs, with Ari in tow of course, Och just sneers. "Hrrrm." He almost looks more peeved than he was earlier, though he doesn't say anything, other than "Harrmph... I need a Corona, I think. Before I hurt somebody."

He then walks his way to the portal leading to his apartment, though right after he steps through, you hear him scream out. "Yaaaarrrrgh!" The scream has a curious sound to it, as though Och had suddenly encountered some sort of vertical hazard.

One that just keeps on going, no less...!

"Perhaps you might want to tell someone we have extradimensional spiders running around inside our base." He growled at her. Although he wasn't really pissed at her as much as wondering if and when their enemy would show back up... yet again. He looked at her and her icy prison and squeezed his hand in a crushing motion and it crumbled around her into smaller ice cubes. He looked her over and she was right. Her nipples could very well cut glass right about now. He admired the view briefly and realized he no longer wanted to push her out in front of a moving bus... ok maybe a moped right now....but he would cool off soon enough and that visual would go a long way with helping too.

Back in Antarctic City (for a lack of a better name), you find that Ken has to pause for a moment after you ask him your first question. "Well, I honestly don't know, Rebound - that's kind of what bothers me right now. That and what I'm seeing here now.

"You would not believe how horribly I've used this power in other timelines... the Star Brand thing seems to keep flashing on that."

As far as your other comments, he grins at you. "Hey, no problem, guy - you've helped me to stay sane this far, haven't you? The last thing I'm gonna do is leave you high and dry. I'll let you know what I'm up to every week or so.

"And if you need ME for anything - just ask. If you need it enough, I should be able to 'tune in' to you from wherever, thanks to THIS new power. I'm serious about what I said though... I seem to be able to do anything I WANT... so if you need ANYthing, let me know.

"Oh, and your slate is up on top of the mountain. I guess A-Lonse didn't think it worth grabbing for some reason or another... hm."

Assuming you don't need (or ask) for anything else, Ken then vanishes in a flash of light, presumably heading out into the trackless depths of space. If you did though, he won't (heh).

Regardless, a ways up and to the left, you start fishing around in your various bags while Jinx and Stone Cold pull themselves together, Ari. You do this, of course, because when you peered into the portal that until very recently led to Och's apartment, you saw city.

A LOT of city.

It looks like the portal mechanism somehow got moved in a very, very vertical fashion... several miles, in fact. "Oh dear," says Arbuckle van Gubenator. "Somebody's been playing around in the portal control room. How unfortunate for the dwarf...!"

You finally wind up with something out of the mystery bag, but it's not quite what you expected. It is a hang glider. And pulling it out of the bag was somewhat... comical, really, in a cartoon-y sort of way. Though you're not sure it'll help here...!

"Ken, you're not thinking of trying to fix what you've done in other timelines are you? If so, think twice. You've only just gotten this power. You don't fully understand it. You don't know how to fully use it yet. I'm betting that the other Kens out there might have a bit more knowledge and experience with it. It's just too dangerous. The others seem transfixed on the portal that leads to Och's apartment, with Stone Cold making some sort of icy construct that stretches into the rift in space so Jinx could climb on it and look at... something. Seems like you missed something here.

For those of you watching, Och seems to be accelerating in that way that all falling objects do... makes you wonder what he's going to wreck when he hits the bottom - unless you can come up with a quick plan. Not being able to fly can be a hassle...

"Right, the hell with it!"

Rebound leaps through the portal, ready for a fight, and quickly realizes
that he's about to lose an argument with gravity.

"Oh, son of a bitch! My day just is getting worse and worse..."

Spotting Och falling and Ari hang gliding above, Rebound hatches a bold
(read: this is never gonna work without a boatload of karma) plan to save his/Och's bacon...

He reaches back with his left hand throwing a slew of strands back to the portal, and forms the most aerodynamically perfect (well, for him anyway) missile-like shape as he plummets his way at terminal velocity towards Och, hoping to snag him before his strands either run out of length or he runs out of height to fall.

(Here come the rolls...Snag with left hand: 46+50 karma = 96, plummet/aerodynamic dimensions: 50+50 karma = 100, snag Och: 61+50 karma =
111)

(OK, so it's probably not the smartest or most thought out plan...but it's just how he is)

"Er... you're welcome."

Moebius just stops and stares as you walk down to the other penthouse, Geoffrey, as though she weren't sure she should help you or bother helping her ersatz partner. That all changes, of course, as things get all crazy on this end of the place.

After you talk secret-like with the nigh-naked hairy man, Gunslinger, he does indeed hand over the communications device as you asked. "Of course, old friend. I am sorry I held onto it for so long, but then, I've been out of circulation for quite a long time...!"

Just as he hands it over, though, your apparent counterpart in this timeline (from what everybody else is saying, at least) enters the premises. That's when you cut loose and open fire before anybody else figures out exactly what's going on.

Your speed does you good, too. You tag the you of this time stream with the gravity blast, which holds him to the spot long enough for you to pelt him between the eyes with your force beam. This causes him to fall over, and thanks to the excess gravity, he can't get up.

He then emits a litany of curses... and does the unexpected.

"Oh yeah, fucker?!"

He then elbows the ground as hard as he can, causing the floor beneath him to cave in.

As he sinks into the apartments below, a whole lot more of those Chrono Corps goons materialize out of nowhere. They seem to have a grand poobah amongst them, as well, for standing out amongst their rabble is an overweight fellow with many gadgets on his belt.

"Hrum... you kids these days. Why didn't you just use the temporal resequencer to freeze these rambunctious criminals where they stand?" As the fellow headed for the elevator stops upon hearing mister muckymuck talk, he starts to yell. "But, Commander...!"

He stops as this fellow triggers some sort of doohickey on his belt, causing time to freeze in its tracks. It seems this way, mind you, because everybody has paused in their motion absolutely, save for the Chrono Corps scattered throughout the floor.

And Gunslinger. And Moebius. And Charlie Chicanery.

Apparently those thingies mister timesmith gave you WORKED.

"Oh dear," says the leader of these fellows.

That's when Charlie cuts loose, and starts bashing folks with his transient steel staff. Naturally, he goes for the portly fellow, and does a whole lot of impressive missing (nice rolls there). It does scare the guy, though.

"Egads!"

After watching you flail about impotently, Moebius just sighs. "You so suck." She then pulls out one of her Uzi 9mm hand cannons and fires on the man with the temporal resequencer. Rat-at-at-at-at. She actually hits him, too, right in the belly. And the utility belt.

It falls of of him like a broken rubber band, and leaves his high tech toys splayed all about the carpet around him. This is when time returns to its natural flow, and people seem somewhat surprised at the suddenly new locations some of you are at.

The old timesmith simply says "Drat... forgot to turn mine on."

Meanwhile, oblivious to most of this action (since it technically happened outside of your time frame), you make it to the indicated door, Geoffrey. The question for you, now, is how do you make your way inside - the easy way, or the polite way?

(oh, I guess Bil did reply... heh)

You leap through the portal into the air several miles above New York City, Ari, and find that the hang glider isn't all that easy to maneuver, but since you're really high up in the air, you've got plenty of time to figure it out.

The problem is that it's slow.

You leap through the portal into the air several miles above New York City, Rebound, and find that you can indeed fashion quite an aerodynamic shape out of your motley frame as you sail downward at what can only be called reckless speeds.

Story of your life of late.

You leap through the portal into the air several miles above New York City, Stone Cold, and almost get tangled up in Rebound's sticky strands as they are whipped about by the air currents flowing all about you. You avoid them with some effort, however.

But Rebound seems to be moving faster despite your bulk.

You watch everybody else present leap through the portal into the air several miles above New York City, Jinx, and notice that nobody seems to be listening to you. They especially don't seem to hear the spider saying "Hey, wait.

"I could've just maneuvered the portal to catch him...!"

You manage to catch up to the plummeting Och easily, Rebound, considering that he's not all that streamlined; folks of his type rarely are, when you get down to it. You grab him as your lines start to hit their elastic limit, and both of your falls stop.

Och looks up at you and says "Hello."

You return to your human form just as Rebound catches Och, Stone Cold, and watch as he inexplicably disappears below you with a 'poit' sound and a flash of white light, leaving Och once again to start falling towards the suddenly larger-looking buildings below.

Then everything goes black around you too.

You are slowly moving downward towards the others, Ari, when you see Rebound, then Stone Cold vanish below you with a 'poit' sound and a flash of white light. Och is now cursing at this point. Though he's gone away, Stone Cold's massive ice slide hasn't.

It's about a half a mile long at this point.

You're standing at the edge of the gateway which leads out of this Antarctic haven, Jinx, when you see the immense weight of Stone Cold's ice slide finally cause the bits holding on to the portal here to shatter, and watch the massive thing start to fall, too.

You find yourself hoping it's not above Och's place...

After a long, multidimensional journey, Masque, you have finally returned to New York City, even though you seem to have lost Magus in the process (a story for another time, perhaps). What you find interesting is what people on the street are pointing at.

It's a falling dwarf. Who's shocking New Yorkers with his language.

   ***

After everything went black, Rebound, you fell flat on the floor in a darkened room, a room which appears to be decorated with all kinds of wooden furniture - almost classy, after a fashion. You have the urge to break it, but suddenly... Stone Cold appears.

He's still moving fast. And still in his human form.

He hits you with precision that is too perfect to be considered coincidental - especially since somebody went to all this trouble to bring you two here. The impact causes his full Endurance rank in damage (Amazing (50)), though you are mostly protected from it.

He isn't.

Officially Stunned (in the game sense) after that devastating, Amazing hit, you can only listen on as somebody in the background laughs, Stone Cold. "Heh. Mu hu heh. Mu hu heh heh heh! Heh heh HAH hah hah! How... perfect. I couldn't have arranged this better if I tried."

Muted gunfire seems to be occurring in the background, but it doesn't prevent the fellow you hear from gloating. You don't see him though - at least, not until he and his compatriots suddenly burst into vibrant visibility. Most of them aren't that interesting.

But the guy laughing, his head... seems to be made out of bricks.

No, really.

He does a quick scan of the room, noting where everyone and everything he can see is located, just in case he needs to do something drastic. Should his (captors?) take offensive action, he'll respond with punches, kicks, or, if they are too far away for that sort of thing, strands.
