the Decepticons: 1985
While the Decepticons proved effective against the original Autobots they faced on earth, their foes quickly acquired reinforcements. To counter Optimus Prime's escalation in the local front of Cybertron's civil war, Megatron absorbed additional forces from various sources. Those Decepticons that joined their brethren already active on earth over the course of 1985 include the following:
Special Forces:
Shockwave: brutally intelligent and coldly logical, Shockwave is as effective as he is ambitious. He feels the Decepticons deserves smarter, less emotional leadership if they are ever to defeat the Autobots, a service he is most qualified to provide. Availability:
Triple Changers:
Astrotrain: though he's typically relegated to transport duties, Astrotrain is a mighty warrior in his own right. He is a master of bringing all three of his forms to bear when facing down one or more Autobots, defeating all with overwhelming confusion. Availability:
Blitzwing: a powerful warrior with the special ability to change between three different forms at will, Blitzwing is devaststing on the battlefield. However, he's just as awful to his allies as he is his enemies, because really, who's going to stop him? Availability:
Seekers:
Dirge: soaring above his foes, Dirge inflicts fear upon them before they even lay optics on his person. While he excels in using fear as a weapon, however, Dirge himself is subject to it if events on the ground don't go according to his exacting plans. Availability:
Ramjet: believing the skies to be his domain, Ramjet eagerly assaults any aircraft he spies within. Whether they are (or belong to) allies, enemies, or even humans, Ramjet cheerfully flies headlong into anything airborne, no matter the consequences. Availability:
Thrust: full of bluster, Thrust advertises his presence miles in advance with the loud roar of his engines, the better to demoralize his foes. Like all bullies, however, Thrust readily retreats given even the slightest amount of pushback from would-be victims. Availability:
Constructicons:
Bonecrusher: considering the wreckage of others' works beautiful, Bonecrusher strives to generate rubble at every opportunity. This gets him in trouble more often than not, whether he's destroying allied structures or burying himself under tons of rubble. Availability:
Devastator: the combined bodies and minds of the Constructicons, Devastator is something of a flawed gestalt. He can only act when all six of his component minds are in agreement, and the only thing they usually concur on is violence. Extreme violence. Availability:
Hook: a preening narcissist and supercilious elitist, Hook nonetheless has the engineering skill to back up his odious demeanor. An unrepentant perfectionist, the only negative side to having him work on anything is how long such work takes. Availability:
Long Haul: though he works hard at the various engineering problems posed to the Decepticon war engine, Long Haul feels his efforts aren't appreciated proportionally to how much he actually does. And woe be anyone that derides him as 'just' a dump truck. Availability:
Mixmaster: like of a witch concocting potions in her cauldron, Mixmaster cackles with irrational glee while he crafts the various special materials his compatriots need to create. It doesn't help that he melts down the living as often as not when doing so. Availability:
Scavenger: lacking intelligence and skills, Scavenger has developed an inferiority complex relative to his fellow Constructicons. Sure, he is capable of finding rare and unusual materials for their use, but his desperation for their approval is off-putting. Availability:
Scrapper: leader of the Constructicons, Scrapper is the head engineer of the group. A quiet, malevolent sort of genius, he simply lets his work speak for itself, whether designing a conventional structure or one that incorporates the very bodies of his victims. Availability:
Insecticons:
Barrage: catastrophically cruel and malignantly merciless, Barrage would constantly twirl his moustache if only he had one. Villanous to an almost farcical degree, he lives only to utterly crush his enemies and dance in the ruins of their former existence. Availability:
Bombshell: sinister beyond all common sense, Bombshell is a malevolent mechanoid that exults in the utter humiliation of others. Bombshell dispenses his cerebro shells to transform others into his puppets at every opportunity, regardless of the cost. Availability:
Chop Shop: possessed of a pathological need to steal anything and everything he can, Chop Shop pockets items from friend and foe alike. Invariably repurposing his acquisitions into new items for the Decepticon war effort, his thefts are tolerated... somewhat. Availability:
Kickback: charming to a fault, Kickback readily rallies others to his cause, or at least his friendship. It's only after he's had time to dig up their secrets and hold them against his would-be friends that Kickback's true, sociopathic colors show themselves. Availability:
Ransack: compulsively pursuing violent combat missions, Ransack lives to dispense destruction. He executes his orders with complete disregard for other concerns, whether they include collateral property damage, injury to bystanders, or even friendly fire. Availability:
Shrapnel: while he isn't violent as an end unto itself, Shrapnel craves the calamity of destruction above all else. The lamentations of his victims, the sharp reports of explosions, and the crackling of ruined circuitry are music to his ears. Availability:
Venom: a master of psychological warfare, Venom is the leader of the Constructicons. Ironically, his self-image is bound up in this position, making him so insecure about losing it that his own paranoia sabotages him more than any ambitious underlings. Availability:
