Origin:

Like his fellow Autobots on earth, Daytonus is an electromechanical being from Cybertron, a robot that strives to prevent Decepticon dominion of the universe. This alien may also be from another time period, making him doubly out of place on earth.

Powers:

Cybertronian Physique: like his fellow Autobots, Daytonus is a robotic entity of Cybertronian design and origin. As such, this high speed warrior has, by his very nature, the use of a large variety of abilities that reflect this. His very body gives Daytonus these super-human powers:

* Body Armor (s): made (or formed) from primarily metallic materials, Daytonus is considerably durable. His sturdy, inorganic composition affords Daytonus intensity 4 (+1) protection from attack, enough to make him strongly resistant to most basic human assaults.

* Growth (a): Cybertronians come in all manner of sizes, few of which align with the human norm. Daytonus, for instance, generally stands at about twelve feet tall in his humanoid mode, which grants him this power at intensity 2 as a general matter of course.

As such, this speedster possesses a +2 size factor. This grants him a +2 bonus to the damage he inflicts on normal sized foes, while theirs suffers a -2 against him. Conversely, he suffers a -2 penalty to strike standard sized enemies in the first place, while they gain a +2 to hit him.

* Microscopic + Telescopic Vision (w): all Transformers can alter their visual sensitivity where distance is concerned. Functioning at intensity 2, these powers let Daytonus see objects up to a mile distant with ease, and allow him to read items on microfiche.

* Radio Transceiver (i): as are most Transformers, Daytonus is equipped with an audio / video transmission system. This communications rig allows him instant contact with any other Cybertronian within a wide radius of his person, having intensity 7 range (100 miles).

* Resistance / Invulnerability to Disease and Poison (s): as an inorganic life form, Daytonus possesses complete immunity to poisons and organic diseases. He also possesses intensity 30 (+7) resistance to more chemically creative forms of disease.

Headlights (i): to better emulate earth vehicles (and since they come in handy in the dark), most automotive Transformers on earth are equipped with a convenient set of headlights. These twin lamps can be used to generate intensity 8 illumination, which make driving at night no problem.

Shape Change (a): whenever he desires, Daytonus can transform between his humanoid and Porsche 962 Le Mans modes, and often does so quickly for tactical purposes. This power is voice-activated, however ('Daytonus, Transform!'). He moves with intensity 7 speed in his car mode.

Super Speed (a): the thing that makes him so difficult to handle, Daytonus' mind - and everything else on him, for that matter - operates faster than normal. He possesses intensity 6 super speed, which essentially allows him to do everything six times quicker than usual.

Daytonus' speed allows him six additional attacks per exchange, either on multiple targets or when bursting against a singular foe! The only thing not accelerated by Daytonus' super speed is his driving of course, which he already does at a ludicrous speed (250 miles per hour).

Hindrances / Augmentations:

(none)

Equipment:

Laser Sidearm (a): unlike most other Autobots, Daytonus has no special combat powers, so he carries a powerful weapon - which is stored within his body while he's in his vehicular form. He can use this sidearm to inflict his Agility +5 Armor Piercing energy damage per shot.

Skills:

Advanced Guns (a): a large, painstaking part of Daytonus' combat training has involved learning how to effectively utilize his laser sidearm. Whenever wielding this, or any other advanced energy-based weaponry, he should do so at one difficulty level lower than is usually necessary.

Contacts:

Though he's somewhat unreliable, Daytonus is an Autobot, and can naturally rely upon his fellows for assistance should he need it. This is a good thing, since he tends to get himself in all kinds of trouble - but the Autobots take care of their own, even when it's a pain.

Calling:

Thrill-Seeker: in his desperate hope to keep himself occupied, Daytonus is constantly looking for excitement, whether it be combat, sport, or even television. Of course, the newer the diversion, the better - and more so if there's a considerable amount of personal risk involved...!

Likeness:

In his vehicular mode, Daytonus perfectly resembles a sleek, orange Porsche 962 Le Mans with black stripes and blue-tinted windows. When he transforms though, Daytonus appears to be a robot built from various components of an orange and black Porsche 962 Le Mans.

Personality:

Daytonus has a very short attention span.

He grows bored incredibly fast, and is on a constant search for new and interesting things to do. If forced to perform any duty that causes him to sit still for more than, say, five minutes, he'll grow whiny and listless, and will eventually grow frustrated and become fed up.

This, of course, because he's living life at a rate that is several times faster than his fellows, both in his head and without. This leads to all kinds of exasperation when working with others - they just don't move along quick enough for his liking.

It's always talk talk talk with them, and nowhere near enough action.

Story:

Daytonus is the Autobots' problem child - he always has been. They're not sure exactly where this fellow went wrong, but he just can't seem to focus on anything for any serious length of time. He'll invariably get bored with anything he's supposed to be doing, and go looking for adventure.

While most Autobots chalk this up to a terminally short attention span, the truth is that Daytonus' mind is perpetually on 'fast forward'. You see, Daytonus is cursed with a neural network too efficient for its own good, causing him to literally think several times faster than other Cybertronians.

One might think this a good thing, but it causes Daytonus to get bored easily. Daytonus does try to do his part for the Autobots though, so he usually attempts to alleviate his boredom by concentrating on multiple tasks simultaneously, making whatever he's doing less boring to him.

As such, Daytonus seems distracted even while hanging around with his fellows, when he's unaware of his surroundings enough to whine about how bored he is. This is why the Autobots on Cybertron sent him to earth - they figured this new world would hold his attention for a time.

And get him out of their proverbial hair. Once he arrived, Daytonus studied earth culture, and was actually interested in current events for a while. He even helped out on a few Autobot missions, but the perpetual sameness of the Predacons' chicanery ultimately bored him to tears.

They never tried anything clever!

Thus, he wandered off, leaving the Autobots' secret headquarters in a search for something new. He tried participating in primitive, human car races, but the utter boredom that repetitious laps caused, coupled with a lack of obstacles and death traps, ended his NASCAR ™ career early.

Daytonus then set up shop in an electronic appliance store, much to the chagrin of the owner, and sat down in front of all its televisions - each on a different channel. If it weren't for the saturation of dross commercials, much less unoriginal programming, this may've kept Daytonus busy.

So, Daytonus just wanders the earth now, questing for excitement. This in itself has caused him to literally stumble into various Predacon and Decepticon schemes, some of which his fellow Autobots were totally in the dark about (until Daytonus gave them a heads up, that is).

Daytonus nonetheless helped the Autobots in their greatest hour of peril, that being when Galvatron made his final bid to capture Fortress Maximus. Along with his fellows, Daytonus fought with and the undead Decepticon and his many minions, ending his threat at long last.

With Galvatron and his flunkies all rounded up, the Autobots had no reason to stay on earth, so they took their enemies (and their toys) and went home. All save for Daytonus, of course. He figured that, having seen enough of Cybertron, he'd be happier being bored here on earth...

Design Notes:

There are no character tech specs or biographies for the RiD Daytonus. Nada. There is absolutely nothing to work with save for the actual toy itself, so I produced this description of Daytonus with the 'feeling' I got for the character - nothing more, nothing less.

Naturally, if you don't like 'my' version, go with your own!
