Origin:
Like the rest of the Build Team, and as are his fellow Autobots, Grimlock is an electromechanical entity from Cybertron, a robot that strives to prevent Decepticon dominion of the universe. This alien may also be from another time period, making him doubly out of place on earth.
Powers:
Cybertronian Physique: like his fellow Autobots, Grimlock is a robotic entity of Cybertronian design and origin. As such, this genius tactician has, by his very nature, the use of a large variety of abilities that reflect this. His very body gives Grimlock these super-human powers:
* Body Armor (s): made (or formed) from primarily metallic materials, Grimlock is considerably durable. His sturdy, inorganic composition affords Grimlock intensity 8 (+2) protection from attack, enough to make him strongly resistant to most basic human assaults.
* Growth (a): Cybertronians come in all manner of sizes, few of which align with the human norm. Grimlock, for instance, nominally stands at about eighteen feet tall in his humanoid mode, which grants him this power at intensity 4 as a general matter of course.
As such, this engineer possesses a +4 size factor. This grants him a +4 bonus to the damage he inflicts on normal sized foes, while theirs suffers a -4 against him. Conversely, he suffers a -4 penalty to strike standard sized enemies in the first place, while they gain a +4 to hit him.
* Microscopic + Telescopic Vision (w): all Transformers can alter their visual sensitivity where distance is concerned. Functioning at intensity 2, these powers let Grimlock see objects up to a mile distant with ease, and allow him to read items on microfiche.
* Radio Transceiver (i): as are most Transformers, Grimlock is equipped with an audio / video transmission system. This communications rig allows him instant contact with any other Cybertronian within a wide radius of his person, having intensity 7 range (100 miles).
* Resistance / Invulnerability to Disease and Poison (s): as an inorganic life form, Grimlock possesses complete immunity to poisons and organic diseases. He also possesses intensity 30 (+7) resistance to more chemically creative forms of disease.
Corporeal Gestalt (a): a member of the Autobot Build Team, Grimlock can merge with his fellows to form the mighty Landfill. This intensity 15 power allows him to join with Wedge in one of three possible configurations - serving as either of Landfill's legs or both his arms.
Pincer Shovel (s): Grimlock's shovel can be used to inflict +4 slashing damage in his backhoe mode. However, it takes on a pincer-like configuration when he transforms, and its damage is thus increased to +5 - it's less of a tool and more of a weapon in this form.
Shape Change (a): whenever he desires, Grimlock can transform between his humanoid and backhoe mode, and often does so quickly in battle for tactical purposes. This power is voice-activated, however ('Grimlock, Transform!'). He moves at intensity 2 speed in backhoe form.
Super Digging (a): Grimlock can use this power either by himself or in tandem with the rest of the Build Team. If tunneling solo, Grimlock may do so at intensity 1 speed, but if all four members of the Build Team work together, they can dig through the earth with intensity 2 skill.
Hindrances / Augmentations:
(none)
Equipment:
(none)
Skills:
Engineering (i): as are the other members of the Build Team, Grimlock is a competent engineer, able to build any item or structure he needs to, thanks to his advanced Cybertronian knowledge. He can resolve actions required while building something at a reduced difficulty level.
Military (w): while he can hold his own in a fight, Grimlock's true strengths lie in his mastery of martial tactics. A veteran of countless conflicts, Grimlock knows what works - and what doesn't - in the middle of a fight, and can lend this expertise to his allies in battle... to startling effect.
Skill / Power Pincer (s): his only true 'weapon' talent, this skill describes Grimlock's competence in the use of his singular inherent weapon, his pincer shovel. He can use this device, or any similar, hydraulic grappling / slashing mechanism, at a reduced difficulty level.
Contacts:
As part of the Build Team, Grimlock is naturally able to call upon his fellows for assistance - though it's more likely that he will be helping them (or just Wedge) in a pinch. Furthermore, being an Autobot means that he can count on that large group of warriors for help when necessary.
Calling:
Guardian, with a secondary calling of Soldier: a veteran of multiple wars against evil Predacons (and perhaps some other 'cons), Grimlock has evolved into a knowledgeable warrior. He fights the good fight to protect his Autobot brethren, but also to prove his mettle.
Likeness:
In his vehicular configuration, Grimlock appears to be a mundane, ordinary backhoe - if deep green in coloration. However, when he transforms into his humanoid mode, Grimlock appears to be an incredibly tall, green and silver robot built from various bits and pieces of a backhoe.
Personality:
Though he looks menacing, Grimlock is actually a rather happy, upbeat 'bot. He is cool and collective in battle, judging its progress and how to best win in virtually any situation, but this confidence evaporates when it comes to the best way to instruct others how to fight.

Story:
Many details of Grimlock's origin are somewhat murky, but his particular skills suggest that he is an experienced veteran of numerous extended conflicts. He has an intimate knowledge of military tactics, and has a very good idea what will help a force win virtually any battle it is involved in.
How he came to work with the Build Team is similarly a mystery, but he has emerged as the Team's second in command - he calls the shots when Wedge is not around (or otherwise indisposed). Not that this is needed, for the group is almost always fully assembled at any given time.
Hoping to teach Wedge everything he knows about military tactics, Grimlock has naturally accompanied the energetic young Autobot to earth, where he lends his skills to the Build Team's efforts to create and maintain the Autobots' various devices and systems on our world.
While Grimlock is well-versed in tactics, the truth is that the Build Team hasn't done much fighting as a unit. This caused the group's first battle with Megatron's flunkies to go badly, as Wedge had convinced Optimus Prime to let them fight before they were totally ready.
However, logging hundreds of simulator-hours, not to mention fighting a few more real-life battles, Grimlock has started to weld the Build Team into an effective fighting force thanks to his ceaseless efforts to hammer battle tactics and military techniques into Wedge's rather stubborn head.
By the time the group gained confidence in itself though, the war was over; in a titanic battle, the Autobots managed to finally defeat all of Megatron's minions on earth. After shipping their evil, captured cousins off-world, the Autobots were finally free to return home to Cybertron.
Once they cleaned up their messes here, that is. Though the others can leave at their leisure, it has fallen to Grimlock and his friends on the Build Team to remove all the Autobot technology scattered across the earth. As such, Grimlock may remain on earth for quite some time.
It took the Build Team years to set it all up, after all...!
